About Dongguan, there seem to be a lot of women here. High heels and short skirts are a much bigger thing here than in other cities, and the company I work for as a teacher is already telling me I should stay in China and marry a chinese chick
They also got shops with porn and hoes which I ain't seen anywhere else in the PRC (aside from a dildo shop in Shanghai and all the offers there for 'sexy massage'). Night life is more vibrant than elsewhere too, whereas Shanghai and BJ are pretty much dead after 9/10 PM people here go outside until like 12, and I don't even live in central Dongguan but in a small township on the outskirts.

That's why I wear N95 masks will take off in a few days though, my work will be in Dongguan, pretty close to Shenzen! Before that I will do a little trip along the east coast, but first I'm off wednesday morning to Mount Wutai how's Guangdong? Hope it's better than this trouthole!

Yeah, I don't think I've seen any dialogue in his stories yet. It seems like the storyteller is always present and you never get the events straight from the page. I don't mind it. I haven't read enough to give it my recommendation, but it seems like it might be worth checking out. There are some really striking descriptions of hellish worlds, but also a lot of "madness" that rings of the misconception of human psychology that was ubiquitous during that period. And a lot of the horror seems to come from the unknown and the foreign, in many cases nearing xenophobia, which is also greatly dated.
