    Architecture and history are my fave parts of travelling. That, and food.

    I mean, it was a pretty intense dust storm. And it would be just my luck to get caught in a volcano eruption.

    Yeah I think people go there with weird expectations. They don't realize that it's a proper city with its own flaws, and not every part is beautiful. But I really loved it and would be so keen to go back.

    I'm jealous that you lived there - I've never lived outside of NZ and I would love to do that, even if only for a while. Maybe that's why I've been a bit overzealous at researching places to go to study for my PhD, even though I haven't even finished my Masters yet :P

    That's basically all the places I've travelled tbh.

    Thailand is excellent! I went to Chiang Mai and Phuket, and Chiang Mai has amazing medieval architecture in places and a great night market. Pompeii is amazing, but there was a dust storm while we were there so we had to clear out early.

    I wasn't expecting to like Paris (a lot of my friends said it was massively overrated) but I felt very at home there. I spent 7 hours at Versailles :P

    Oooh, that's a toughie - probably Pompeii (if you're a history nerd like me), Chiang Mai in Thailand, Paris (cliche but I loved it) and Prague.

    Vietnam is lovely! Definitely one of my top 5 destinations. Beautiful landscapes, great food.

    I try to avoid hostels when I'm travelling, but I'll admit there was a nice one I stayed in in Vietnam.

    I have zero interest in cooking, which means that I don't have much interest in learning either. I know I should but I just... don't.

    That salad sounds awesome though.

    Heh, unfortunately I'm a terrible cook, so most of the stuff I spend so much time making ends up tasting "meh" at best.

So, as I exited the taxi, I performed my usual check. Nope, nothing has been left behind. Good. I bend over to retrieve my backpack from the back seat and leave. The taxi drives away.
