    I've done a couple of playthroughs - once with a Boring/Sorry Cop, once with a communist Superstar Cop (who basically just told everyone that they're cramping this style while also asking them for money) and in the playthrough I'm doing now I'm a drug-addicted Apocalypse Cop who tells everyone that it's time for "The Gloaming". I get more wacky every time I play.

    I've never NOT solved the murder though. It's pretty hard to smurf that up tbh.

So, as I exited the taxi, I performed my usual check. Nope, nothing has been left behind. Good. I bend over to retrieve my backpack from the back seat and leave. The taxi drives away.
