    It would take infinite energy for a human to travel at light speed, and pretty much infinite energy to travel near light speed. Meaning we would have to convert the whole universe, including ourselves, into energy, and it still wouldn't get us anywhere. Therefore: impossible.

    However, this is where warp speed comes into play. The speed of light/distance of vehicle (I think) graph, or at least one version, says that it takes less energy to travel at 1,000,000 times the speed of light that it does to actually travel at the speed of light. If it were possible to jump the gap in the graph from moving slowly with little energy to moving very bloody fast with little energy, then faster than light travel becomes available.

So, as I exited the taxi, I performed my usual check. Nope, nothing has been left behind. Good. I bend over to retrieve my backpack from the back seat and leave. The taxi drives away.
