perhaps everything is a fiend, after all pyraflys come off people when they die as well. then again if you consider that their stance on it is that it is the same universe as ff7 then they are simply returning to the lifestream.
Don't forget that they are the power behind the ferry boats. Go in the basement and you'll see them on hamster wheels.
