It's Lunar's fault.
You started them. I don't see how you have any room to speak, Lunar.

So I just ate Ice Cream, and it was good.
Edit: If this gets closed, I'll be pissed. :p
I'll have this closed myself if I have to. Cut the :skull::skull::skull::skull:.
That's exactly what your mom said.
I wasn't kidding.
Do it, Del! I can see you reading this thread!
XD That's what your mom said
Okay. back on topic folks.
Anything new of late in the world of Dia II?
No, not at all, I won't play until I get back from boot camp.
There are now more bots.
That's about it.
No one wants to play this game anymore, so they employ there computers to do it for them.
So it's sorta like FFXII :]?
No, worse.
Set up a few scripts (most of which are premade at various sites), start the .exe, and then walk away.
You return in a month, and behold! You have all the items you would ever want and/or need.
There are also bots made to perform Baal runs. Start it, walk away, come back and your character has grown a level.
I tried to use one, but it sucked.
So I started playing.
You only say it sucked because you couldn't figure out how to use it.
Le gasp! This your mom business should not be blamed on me but on Malah as all things should be. Goddamn you, old woman. *punches Malah in the face*
Bots are boo.
I need spears on Non-Ladder. Anybody whoring all the Non-Ladder stuff needs to give me some spear action.
Tav seems to have a miniature economy, so speak to him. His rather large head (a common side effect from massive wealth) will likely make you bow and grovel first though.
Speaking of which, I still owe Tav my firstborn...
I knew that one day I would regret being too lazy to collect all your Non-Ladder stuff.
I tried Baldur's Gate because it is often compared to the Diablo series. The console Dark Alliance games maybe, but the PC ones are totally different. Maybe I'm too retarded to understand the AD&D rules that the game runs on, but I thought it was the most boring thing ever coming off the Blizzard titles. The stats you start with are pretty much all you ever get, and everybody is too similar :(. And the spell casters that can only cast something so many times before they must go to town and rest. Let's all picture being able to cast Frozen Orb 3 times before you have to go sleep at an inn and get it back.
Great Jubbah, I really will have to get Hellgate: London to satisfy my aches.
Oh noes, I deleted MSN from this compy a long time ago
Titan Quest is a good thing to sate your hack n slash urges.
Sacred Gold is also another option.
Never played any of them.
I think I've heard of Titan Quest. I had totally forgotten about it, though. Hmm, I will try it out and see what's what.
Right now I'mdownloadingslowly buying another Diablo rip-off called Divine Divinity (worse title ever but let us not judge). If I don't like it, I'll totally get Titan Quest.
I also slowly bought Starcraft about a week ago. It's actually quite fun. I'm only on Episode II of the game's scenarios and it's already too hard for me though. I'm a baby when it comes to real-time strategy games.
If all else fails, I'll just have to buy Marvel Alliance. X-Men Legends II copied so heavily off of Diablo II I honestly think that Blizzard could win a case against them in court. 4cereal. I expect Marvel Alliance is probably the same, so what can ya do. Spider-Man instead of Amazons.
Yeah, I lost half of my non-ladder mules cause I didn't care enough about them to log in and perm them XD I had a Lycander's thingy, but I didn't tell him that.
An odd thing happened today:
I painted a window earlier this week, but then realized that I had basically painted the window shut - effectively making it a wall with glass in it. So today, in an attempt to once again open the window, I pushed and shoved, punched and threw my weight up against the window, trying desperately to once again make the window, well, a window.
I had moved it up about 2mm when suddenly I found my hand on the other side of the window. Right before my life began draining out of me in a rapid vermilion torrent, I thought,
"Damn, they should have the windows in the Monastery shatter. That'd be rather... neat."
And then I bled everywhere as I looked for a first aid kit that apparently does not exist in my abode. So I ran to my neighbor's house, asking if I could get some gauze. Lo and behold!, they don't have one either. However, they did have some Carefree Maxipads, and so I took one of those and kept it secured via a massive butterfly bandage.
As the pad absorbed my blood, I vaguely recalled watching countless commercials detailing how well these pads absorb moisture. Most people don't experience PMS of their hand, but meh...
But I must say, theres nothing more priceless than greeting my girl with a bloodied Maxipad strapped to my hand, complete with blood dribbling down my arm and being flicked every which way as I wave.
Maxipads ftw.
At least she enjoyed herself.
That's true.
So.....yeah.....
Does anyone know why I don't have any 3D sound options in the Sound Options part of the menu? Here's what happened....
When I installed Windows Vista, everything went fine except that Creative had not released any Vista compatible drivers, and Microsoft didn't have any compatible drivers for the X-Fi Xtreme Music Platinum Soundblaster card, so I was stuck with this basic sound driver that gave me monaural sound. And thus the 3D sound options in D2 didn't work, understandably so. However, Creative finally came out with some new drivers and software, I installed them and sound is working just fine now. However, the 3D sound options in D2 still are not accessible. Is there anything to be done about this? Do I need to un- and re-install D2 or something weird like that?
I think you need to get rid of Vista.
Vista can run a program in an XP environment, so this is not the answer.
If I end up with rather bizarre errors, I usually reinstall Diablo.
It takes a bit of time due to all the CD-swapping, but sometimes it's a better solution in terms of time.
Do any of you remember how whenever I'd get lucky in D2 I'd say, "smurf it I'm going to the casino"?
Well, today I actually went to the casino.
Never again.
Please elaborate. I want to hear of your misfortune.
87$ on penny slots.
Penny and nickle slots are big money guzzlers now that you can bet up to 45 coins or whatnot. I like playing "old-fashioned" slot machines that only have one line that you can bet 1-3 nickels on.
I was only betting 25 coins xD
NM Meph refused to drop me a Bartuc's (I have like a million now but that's not the point) and it was pissing me off. The voice that speaks to me said, "Maybe you're just retarded and you thought NM Meph had a good drop rate for that item but doesn't. P.S. celery sucks."
Well, it turns out NM Meph does have the highest drop rate for Bartuc's, so smurf you Meph. But anyway, since SOJs are nice to have and nice as trade items, I ran a calculation for that too. I knew normal Diablo was up there, but I didn't know he was second.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...lculations.jpg
Those calculations are using my Non-Ladder MF'ers Magic Find, but it doesn't matter if you're wearing 0% or 1 billion percent, the list will remain consistent of course. NM Duriel and Andariel are close to each other. You could run both in one game and probably turn up decent results. Not that any of you care anymore, losers.
Also lol at all your tomfoolery about hands and PMS and casinos.
So, who is the highest for Mara's, HoZ, and CoA?
Mara's:
1) Hell Duriel
2) Hell Baal
3) Hell Mephisto
Herald of Zakarum:
1) Hell Cow King
2) Nightmare Baal
3) Nightmare Diablo (Hell Mephisto is right behind him though)
Isn't CoA a runeword :O
Oh yeah, I found a rare claw with 3x durability. That means the game calculated it as a unique but there was no unique version of that item -_-. I feel raped by the game when it does that to me.
Well, I knew Duriel is up there for Unique jewelry, but Hell Cow King for HoZ? Are you serious? Wow.
You're confusing it for CoH, Chains of Honor, a +2 skills runeword with damage reduction, and +65 all resistances, Dol Um Ber Ist on a 4Os Armor. CoA is the Crown of Ages Unique Corona (I think it's a Corona), with 1-2 sockets, damage reduction, FHR, and +skills.
Ooh, I'm retarded, I was thinking of CoH.
The program doesn't have Crown of Ages. It's missing a few things here n' there. Ondal's Wisdom isn't in there either, which pisses me off. I guess whoever made it didn't think they were worthy. Boo to him/her.
I've always wanted the pair of Bul-Kathos swords despite them not really being that great. It's more of a for fun thing. Bul-Kathos' Tribal Children goes Threash Socket, Snapchip Shatter (who the hell is that), Pindleskin, Frozenstein, and then off into regular enemies with such a low drop rate it's insane. Not one of the bosses or Cow Kings in any difficulty is even capable of dropping it. No wonder I never see the goddamn thing. Our pal Threash Socket is also in second place for Aldur's armor. What a fellow he is!
Where the hell did you get that program?
Also, WTF?! We're talking about Diablo II?
I...honestly don't remember :< . I forgot I even had it all until I found it today in my unzipped folder. Hmm :jess:
Happy birthday, we might not have to talk about Diablo II soon!
I thought it was funny the vice prez of all Blizzard would say "Totally awesome" for some reason xD.Quote:

Are those numbers consistent with what would happen on Ladder?
Edit: How big is the zip file? If isn't not too big, you could just attach it to a post.
I didn't think of that.
Diablo III is never coming. If even it is ever announced, it will fall through by some cataclysmic act of god.
Good
In truth, I never really wanted it.
Aww, it was too big to attach D: I just put it up on Sendspace:
Send big files the easy way with sendspace. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!
The link should be healthy for a few days if anybody wants to get it. Just ignore all this hoopla that sendspace has turned my link into. Ninja advertisements!
Oh my, are Ladder drop rates different? If they are, I don't know if these match with it or not. I checked the read me, but there wasn't really anything in it about how he got these numbers. His e-mail is in there, though, so feel free to harrass the fellow. I like him because he tells me with my Magic Find NM Andy has a 3% chance to drop me an soj :> Rather it be lies or truth, it is all I desire to know.
Why no wantie Diablo III? By the time it gets here we'll probly all be dead anyway. Hm, that referenced news article says they aren't giving up on Starcraft: Ghost after all. Poor game.
Diablo III would suck.
Yeah you were.
That's very odd, but since they are such lowly found items, they probably would not have a listing. CoA and Ondals have very high levels to not be found outside of Hell, I would imagine. Both are unique Elites.
LOL Thresh Socket. He and Pindleskin used to be the most run MF, since they were so easy to get to, and they dropped almost every item in the game. But since they have been nerfed, who knows what they can drop. List of the top five items for both, please.
Does this surprise you?
It could be that new RPG they were always talking about, which isn't DIII, but a new series altogether.
The only thing different on Ladder is the inclusion of Ladder-only items. Tyrael's armor, Andy's Visage, etc.
Because the original team won't be making it. I don't want another WoW.
^_^ World of Warcraft is surprisingly more fun than I had originally predicted.
It does worry me Bill and such wouldn't be working on a Diablo III, but the foundation is already pretty laid. All they have to do is rename the characters to something like "Ninja" instead of Assassin, give them new skills and new things to kill, and then slap a 3 on it and it's done! Although I suppose at this point it's natural to expect more from Blizzard and this franchise than just a normal sequel with little innovation.
It could always be a new franchise, but I still can't help but hope it's III. Maybe they've recruited fresh blood as good as the old team by now. You people are making me into the hopeful one! I demand I get to be the cynic this instant.
Cim was a Paladin user: he was already lost, Giga.
I never said it was better in any way than DII, I just said it was more fun than I thought it'd be.
And I've already converted to druids.
Right. *sarcasm*
It's true! I've already converted the person who let me play it to Disgaea.
Greatest thing he ever said, "Man, I have a raid tomorrow but...I'm going to have to say smurf it and play me some Disgaea. smurf you, Ed."
;_;
Please allow me to dress Cim up for the sweet, sensual beatings.
I'm going to tie you up like a bow on a present.
Ooo
I want to play WoW, I'm just too cheap. Free things always taste better in my medulla.
P.S. Disgaea sucks.
I'm going to skull smurf you.
But I'm numb to that! You better choose a new body area. Quit discriminating against my knee caps.
I'll stuff sea weed up your nose and put dirt in your ears.
Speaking of guns like we were, Chimney is leaving for bootcamp soon! He will be gone for a big three months. Us Diablo crew should wish him good wishes!
I drew you this picture as a going away present. I know the Hammerdin is your favie fave despite what you try and say otherwise to save face. God, this picture is too good. I really should have been an artist instead of whatever mystery thing it is I do instead.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...BaiChimney.jpg
I'm touched ;_;
If I am wearing an item that has a "Damage Reduced" suffix, and I am a Paladin with a Thorns aura active, is the damage that the aggressor takes in any form reduced due to me taking less damage?
So, basically, is the damage the opponent receives the actual damage I receive after the Damage Reduction ___ or % is applied to the original calculation of what the damage would have been BEFORE it was reduced by X?
ie.:
Let's say an enemy would normally inflict 500 damage
If I have items that reduces damage inflicted by 50%, I obviously only receive 250 damage.
I have my Lvl 20 Thorns aura active, which is supposed to have a return of 1010% damage
Is this damage actually inflicted on my character? Or is it what the damage would have been if I DID NOT have any damage reduction?
Additionally, is there any way to multiply the suffix "Attacker Takes Damage of..."? Or is this suffix only additive?in any form reduced due to me taking less damage?
EDIT: If I have an "Enhanced Damage xxx%" modifier, is the "Attacker Takes Damage of..." suffix affected?
The Damage Reduced is applied first, if I remember it correctly. There's an order for this stuff.
If you had 50% DR against a 1000 attack and a 100% Thorns Aura, you would reflect 100% of 500, which is 500.
No. Attacker takes damage every time they successfully hit you. This number does not change, and is not affected by defense or any other mods. As such, it usually remains a low number. It's trash.
Damn...
I figured it would be as such. It would make a masochistic Pally far too much fun.
Blizzard only wants Lightning Sorcs and Hammerdins apparently...
Wow, I like the drop calculator. It makes it a lot easier to see who needs pummelin' for the goods.
I swear to god, I'm going to make a mod that makes it possible to have a masochistic build actually work. I want to see enemies die by hurting me.
I WANT IT DAMMIT. The Blood Moor is only so fun for a while...
Median has a damage return Barbarian build. Max Pheonix Stance and Lightning shield, find yourself a nice Damage Return set of equipment and voila, instant victoly.
Done.
I'm playing Median again.
I like Median's Damage Return Skills :3
Bah, Phoenix Stance is only for Fire Damage...
The Barbarian was lame anyways. I couldn't kill the stupid Infernal Machine with him...
I see that there have been a few changes to the mod since I last played it. Druids look immensely fun, though a Totem/Summoner Necromancer looks rather intriguing.
Does the Amazon still blow?
Amazon... I liked spellcasting with it.
haven't tried anything else.
That's why you use Lightning Shield. Barbarians are the best class besides a Retaliator Paladin.
LOL no. Bloodzons are the third best.
Just in case you are wondering, the next best classes would be a Gamma Cheese/LOLFountain Druid, and a Acid Fiends/Charmer Druid.
Does the Necro begin to lose his power once Nightmare hits? His summons seem quite powerful now, but I could definitely see the quality of summons become less and less, eventually becoming a continuous blitzkreig rather than tactical.
60+ summons sounds awesome, but if they can't really deal much damage or survive long enough to deal it...
Tell more about Bloodzons. Is there a site with various builds for this current patch, Tav? I haven't had much time to truly expiriment past level 20.
Phrozen Keep, center of Laz' realm. Notice if you will, that our friend Captain Maxx Power of the holy order of the Red Mage Pirates is a moderator here.
I haven't done much with Necros. Hell, I haven't done nearly anything with Necros. As far as I know, depending on the summon specialized in, you have difficulty with certain parts of the game, and certain parts are easily passed by. I do know that Acid Fiends on Druid by themselves are rather painful as they get smashed apart without a secondary damage source, but fare well early on, and hold their own in Destruction, if you are meticulous enough to do one enemy at a time. It is plausible to do a Totem-buff summon build, but your skill will be stretched fairly thin.
If going summon with totem buff (similar to Poison Charming Druids), invest in the Death's Fury Totem. HP isn't much of a problem as long as you can keep summoning things. As for summons, I personally would invest in Lamia, perhaps Overlord, and Shadows. Lamia excel in dealing damage, Shadows have an HP buff, and Overlord lets you have more of them. Demon Blood and Ghoul Touch minion buffs also add a slow and more elemental damage.
Your uberskill I would think best to be Soulshatter, since it gives you an alternate damage source. If you find it rediculously necessary, get Deathstrike, your Crossbows skill. An essential for any Necromancer is 1 point in Nightmare and Unholy Armor.
If you need runes and find any of interest, let me know.
I would imagine that your skills would look akin to this:
Maxed Lamia
Maxed Death's Fury
Maxed Deathstrike
Maxed Soulshatter
a few points in Shadows, Demon Blood, Ghoul Touch
1 point in Nightmare, Unholy Armor, prerequisites
If you want some OSkills, Corruption gives access to Acid Fiends, Nahual gives some Barbarian summons. Anything with +skills would help immensely. This is your only source of extra damage.
I have discovered that Deathstrike is fun as hell. A shame there doesn't seem to be a weapon that truly excels with this skill though...
There's the Sacred Set, but... If I am to get the Necromancer's Set, I may as well use the Summoner oriented one - which uses a wand instead of a crossbow.
Level 6 Rares are among the best items in Median. Uniques are great, but hard to find. I'm only using Deathstrike because I needed an alternate attack, but it doesn't get set on the left click, which makes me sad.
I like how in the character screen, Deathstrike is called "PEW PEW PEW"
Ohh, there's a boatload of easter eggs in Median. They are generally hilarious.
Is there a comprehensive list available, or is it up to the player to find them all?
Why am I currently in this state? (look to the left) If it's one of those funny one day things it's fine, but what for?
Easter eggs are important
An Unholy Paladin has a skill that can melt your face with Lazorbeams.
Some of the runewords are rather silly.
Strength of One and Enmerkar are rediculously over-powered.
Easter Eggs? In a Diablo game? Unthinkable.
Grawr... someone changed my avatar...
Ay, they did.
Jesus Christ, this post of mine here makes 2501 posts...
Tav, you were right, Rares are the best things to occur in Median. I found a crossbow that is rife with awesomesauce.
I can now PEW PEW PEW better
^^~ Pew Pew Pew :3
Note to all:
Necromancer Summoners suck in Median
The minions' stats don't scale with the difficulty
There is no crowd control skill available (which means no Uberquests)
When you come into town, you lose more than half your army
The Attack Rating of the Necromancer's pets is abysmal
You must have the Nightmare skill, otherwise everything heals itself
The AI is poor
You have to lead the crowd, meaning you'll get picked off first by an archer
Half the totems are useless
The spell timer for Corpse Seed is too long
Additionally, the spell timer for either the Summon Overlord, Rathma's Chosen, and Corpse Seed all run ON THE SAME smurfING ONE. This means that if you just used Corpse Seed, you'll have to wait 15 seconds in order to use either of the other two. This may not seem an issue until you get to an Uberlevel where you and your minions need the Life/Damage/Mana boost from totems immediately.
Minions get stuck on stairs when entering an area. Of particular interest is Kurast 3000 BA. Everything will simply sit there on the stairs doing... nothing.
By the time you get a totem up, everything is dead - whether that's your army or the enemy.
PEW PEW PEW is fun, but the damage is laughable.
Act II is more difficult than it ought to be.
Etc...
-------------------------------------------------------
I needed a break from this game anyways.
-------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: ZOMG! I just realized that there was more to the attribute challenge than what I first thought. Necromancers can apparently craft rings and gloves that give a huge boost to minion life and damage, along with 4 random modifiers that may grant +Skills and resists.
smurf! Why didn't I read this before... I foolishly deleted my character...
In other news, I've found Throwing Barbarians to be immensely fun - especially when using Wolf Stance and Hawk Talons.
There's just something fun about zooming around with your 4 spirits laying mines everywhere.
Allow me to tell a tale:
I got all the keys. Three different keys three times to create all the sets for all the portals in one game to make sure I don't get repeats. I recruit Yummie to help me, and we decide to collect the body parts.
As I imagined, despite my bone necro having level 44 Bone spells and battle orders and teleport and almost all his synergies done and everything else imaginable, he could not even scratch the harder version of Duriel. He literally healed faster than I could hurt him. I had no choice but to swallow my racism and use Chimney's smiter instead. But I saw this coming; none of my characters are strong enough to handle the bulk of the work.
I got on Chimney's smiter and Yummie got on my account because all his characters suck complete ass and mine don't. Together, we brought him down so easily it was pie.
Next up is Izual. Easy, easy.
Lilith, same thing.
I think, "Wow, his Smiter is stupidly overpowered when it comes to bosses, so I can take on Ubers."
We make the portal and go on through. I look for Diablo or Baal first because they're easier. I lock on to Baal, and away I hack. I get him down to about [ ] life, and because of Life Tap he can't even scratch me. I'm invincible. Mephisto shows up, but I still survive because Yummie is keeping him busy and I can't be hurt.
Then Diablo comes into my screen with Armageddon crap on.
My screen FREEZES...and freezes...and freezes...I start counting with Mississippi in between. 27 seconds of my computer frozen. Do you know how long that is? It may not sound like much, but sit there and really count 27 seconds to yourself. It's quite a while.
When it unfreezes and goes haywire trying to play catch up, both of us are dead and they are standing over our corpses. He told me he froze up too. We have trouble enough loading two of them on screen, and it seems all three was the breaking point.
Then, anytime either of us try and go in the portal, we freeze up for about 5-10 seconds then it just shows us as dead. Our computers are literally too crappy to enter Uber Tristram.
And so we had no choice but to abandon the game. And by no choice, I mean I said many key words, threw a fit, and left after dying about 100 times. I tried everything. I tried rejoining to get my body. I tried his Hammerdin. I tried Koast's summoner to take the damage for me until I could load the screen. I even tried Amazons just to be funny. It was a lost cause, kids. It was a lost cause.
This is why I will be collecting the keys again. Next time, everybody who has any Non-Ladder characters worth ass is getting on and helping me. You will die for me until I can load them and then proceed to smite everything to death. But I'm collecting the keys, so you have to give me the prize  Which will also belong to Chimney when he gets back because I'm using his character to kill the bosses. Although at this point, I just think they're fun coz they're hard and I'm not worried too much about the torch anymore.
Fin~
That just means that your computer sucks. Nothing more.
Smiters are still overpowered.
Where'd did Nom go?
If you want to, I have a partially stripped Zealadin on Faelivrin. Cim has my account accesses. My WW Barb used to be able to tank anything in Uber Tristram, but I deleted him. Cim also has my entire inventory to work with.
It's true, my computer does suck. Like, big time. Sometimes, I go into a Baal run and freeze for the entire thing. By the time I load it, everything is dead and all the players are gone. It's quite sad, really.
Oddly enough, we dropped when fighting Lilith at complete random when there was no lag at all, but the Ubers lagged us like madmen and we didn't drop once. Oh, b.net, I like you.
But Chimney is gone D: He cannot help me now. I must help myself. And his smiter is sick. Just sick.
Somebody give me non-ladder Martial Arts charms and I'll give that person a real live kao.
And where did Vietnom go?
This whole post is so ADD I can't even look at it.
I decided to do a NM Andy run yesterday for good ol' times with my Fire Sorc and Andy dropped a SoJ. :D
You goddamn son of a bitch.
FYI if anyone wants to catch me on Europe my account name is *maxxpower
Mulley, GG, Lunar, and SRL, in the PM I sent, the Druid and the Hammerdin have equipment on them; they are not stripped. There are, however, no mules, since I have given all of the stuff away.
I hope you know I totally took a billion Fortitudes.
People want one high rune per Martial Arts charm. They want me to give them Jahs and Bers and I keep telling them to go die. I mean, there are only 4 martial arts assassins on b.net and I own 3 of them, so I think this is a little much. They aren't even THAT useful to her. She's totally all about the boots, the stingy assholes. I don't even want to think what they're gonna ask for Shadow Dancers.
I think Diablo has finally died. I no longer seem to be addicted. This is likely the only time in my life that I have missed an addiction.
Not really.
It's a Vietnom! *catches in a pokeball*
I finished up a few last chars, and then Yummie and I looked at each other and said, "Okay, I think it's clear we're both just done."
So I have also given up. I will keep my stuff up-to-date until my brother gets a computer next year, though, because he's dying to play with me for some reason. Until then, I guess it's finally over ;_;
Meh, all "good" things come to an end at one point or another
And I wonder, Lunar, what's a Vietnom's evolution?
As I said, this is my personal LJ right now. Expect daily updates.
Where the smurf have you been?
Also, Vietnom evolves into 'M. I evolve into .4, 4.4, and 44.4. I'm malicious and delicious!
I took an impromptu break.
Though, that was largely due to me suddenly finding myself homeless and jobless, but meh. Things are back to "normal" now I suppose.
Really? I'm taking a fairly permanent break. Normal would be me not having carpal tunnel, but hey, whatever works. Stupid friggin' Lunar. Now I have to go make a signature based on the MissingNo. glitches from the first generation of Pokemon.
You can also catch MissingNo on Ruby and Sapphy I think :]
and some other bizarre way on Gold/Silver.
Wait what!?
How do you get missingno on Ruby/Silver???? And is there an item cloning glitch included?
Anyhoo this sucks, just while I was thinking to really start my diablo journey (tried to start a poisonmancer like waaay back) everyone stops :(. I guess I'll be playing Fate then (diablo II clone without the online gaming goodness).
Diablo II hasn't had any online "goodness" in years. The seemingly continual influx of 10 year old numb-nuts and arrogant assholes took any "good" there ever was in the online community of Diablo II.
I still marvel how some people have managed to play this game online for years on end
*That would be you Tav*
And Pokemon is the only game ever worth playing anymore, so get a DS and play with your cartoon pets, dammit.
You don't. Red/Blue/Yellow are the only true American versions with MissingNo. Gold/Silver have a variation that is not the real thing, mostly consisting of ?????, but due to the error handling of the newer games, they don't really do anything; they are just there. Ruby/Sapphire also have the question marks. However, Diamond/Pearl seem to have MissingNo, but it's only accessable by getting into a battle before you get a Pokemon, which means it's a cheat, and therefore, not the true MissingNo.
Sorry, you missed it. But over the past year since starting this insane idea with Khaotic, Behold the Void, BahamutX2000, KH-Cloudy, and Nom, I've found that DII is growing into the years of the Blizzard game called "post-prime." A dying legion of fanhood is slowly being sucked away by automated response, immorality, and general jerk-ness in a community that was once filled with optimism and gratitude. It happened to Diablo, and it is certainly happening to Starcraft.
The greatest tragedy to ever happen to the internet is the internet.
Anybody want to play Median sometime? :jess: I was thinking I could set aside a character that only levels when played with somebody else :O Namely a Spearazon because getting them to level 24 by yourself is boring *cough*
I would if I could host, but I can't. I only really want to play using my level 120s.
Can't we just play on Closed B.net? D: You know you want to make one with me and have a nice, slow pace to it. Deep down you ache for this.
I suppose I could make another Hawk Talon Barbarian.
Maybe.
Oops, I meant open, silly me.
What's up with your hosting capabilities? Did Alaskan midgets take that from you...just like they took my virginity
Vietnom, dooo it. I don't even know what that is. I've barely played the mod at all. But now that I'm bored with regular D2, I'm finally ready to be commited. Assassin = so totally awesome in this thing, and for that I love it.
My firewall doesn't like it, even when it's turned off.
Should I install this? I have it for some reason and I do not remember buying it.
I say yes.
So, like. It is installing now. It has been years since I have played this game. What do I do first?
I am thinking either barbarian or necromancer. Perhaps an assassin.
Whatever floats your boat, Bunny.
Obviously. USEast, correct?
Yes. However, now you have the option of either playing on Ladder or non-Ladder. NL has my entire inventory from the previous season (well, the items I haven't given away). Ladder has a relatively small number of items, but is still useful for Ladder climbers.
You'll have to see if anyone else is on right now, though, since I'm pretty much retired, and I don't keep an eye on everyone else.
Everyone in here seems to get light years in progression in this game in like 5 hours .___.
'Coz we're all magick!
Bunny, I know all there is to know about the Assassin  If you ever want to know about her, I will give you an unnecessarily long post about it that will be torture to read.
I started a Necromancer. And then I realized how boring the game is without someone to play with. And that starting over while everyone else is a billion levels ahead in progression is horrible.
Make Lunar~~~ start a new character :3!
It's slightly funner pwning with another ^---^
Install Median Bunny
I would play with you Bunny, but now I'm too lazy to move my patches around and take off Median. My behaviour would only make you shake your head and turn you intoTavrobela bitter old woman anyway. I'm dangerous!
Vietnom, you will play Median with me or I will do some sort of threatening internet-related thing to you.
It's a mod. Basically, it's a replacement of the patch.mpq file that Diablo II runs from.
Here is the main site and download center. After playing the vanilla game for so long, it's quite refreshing and almost as though it were a totally different game.
You know considering the high Median playership and the fact that a new patch is due, I believe it's 100% necessary for us to start an EoFF troop to play over TCP/IP or Open B.net.
:D!
That would be neat :3
Hurry guys! Get those new uber-High Runes in Terror Fautzinville while you can! Otherwise, you'll have to settle for Destruction difficulty! And we all know we can't survive that, because my Druid got pwned by Tremor nerf.
He's sending out a new patch already?
He said three days from Friday. So I'm guessing either Sunday or Monday.
I can't seem to get a spearazon past level 18. I keep getting bored just trying to get Wings of Light or whatever the hell. So instead I'm using a Paladin since they're horribly overpowered and I need somebody to get good things for my other people. I can self-transfer, thankfully, so all my characters share goodness . My Assassin would do, but the "don't get hit for 2 seconds" thing can get tiresome after a while. He made too many groups that have physical hits and shoot too fast for me to get my goddamn lotus off. PEW PEW HOLY SKILLS PEW.
A new patch and I only just started!
Anyone happen to have an upgraded Barbarian Class Charm in Median?
I have all of the charms, but none of them upgraded yet.
If I said I got a Sol rune in Hell, Normal difficulty, would that be abnormal?
Hmmm...
Median?
If it's median... than Runes of x drop all over the place.
No, basic.
I think after the wipe, they reassessed the drop rates of certain things. I know I got an Edge Bow in Travincal.
I can't figure out where to summon Inarius' soul, god dammit. Have any of you any idea where I might do this?
Cathedral of Vanity. You have to clear out the uberquest Inarius, the Orb, the two Clerics, and all of the Nuns before you can summon the Ubersummon Inarius and his Overlord Minions, all basically mini-Butchers using the same sprite with a palette swap.
Drops the Spirit of Damnation.
It's funny how different Median is than vanilla Diablo II. I've hardly played Median, so I have no idea what y'all are talking about. It's a completely new game.
It still feels like Diablo II though n_n-b
Ah, I see. I can defeat the Cathedral Uberquest, so I can't see this being too difficult. I don't know why I didn't try summoning him there...
But I'll likely get raped anyway.
EDIT:
I feel like a smurftard: he mentions reading from the book when you defeat him anyways, so why the hell didn't I think? Grawr...
Anyways, I now hold in my possession, the Spirit of Damnation:

Yay, go me... or something. I still can't quite do the Uberlevel where you get the Eternal Bone Pile, though...
You're not supposed to be able to do the Juris Khan level. It was inserted purely in order to piss off the hackers and the n00b who thought that they were 1337h4x.
But the Eternal Bone Pile looks like it's full of win and awesomesauce.
DO WANT.
There has to be a way.
EDIT:
Tav, how was it that you managed to xfer with yourself? Such a technique would prove most beneficial.
@Nom; You can get a program at the Keep called "PlugY" which allows you to not only have an infinitely large stash (well, technical 4 billion normal stash pages, but you try filling all those suckers), but also a "shared" stash that all characters can have access to. Same thing applies for gold. It also allows you to keep track of the more awkward stats such as Crafting Points with a separate character window(s) detailing hidden stats such as magic resistance, crushing blow, etc. etc. If you thought Median changed Diablo wait until you shove PlugY into the mix.
@Everyone else; There's a brand spanking new version of Median out. As Necrocopter would say treat yourself.
Is there any specific version of PlugY I ought to get, because the one I have seems to be creating errors left and right.
Get the latest one. It took a bit of tweaking myself. In the end I had both the whole PlugY directory in the main Diablo 2 folder, then the executable and configuration file in the directory holding Median. Works for me now, and I can't tell you how awesome it is having such a massive stash. If you're a packrat like I am it's a godsend.
There is. If you are a hacker, and if you seriously need to hack on a single player game, I wonder why you even bother to live life. Of course, if you are legit, I imagine that this could not be done with anything besides a Paladin, Necro, or Assassin.
I have a special modification of my d2gfx.dll. This is the file that prevents multiple copies of DII being open at once. A simple uncheck, and then I can transfer amongst me, myself, and I.
Only slightly less packratish than me.
Did I mention to anyone that I love the Set Sacrifice recipes? I had a collected a massing of Tier 6 Sets, and sacrificed them all in order to create the most desirable uniques for my Druid. He now has 17000 Defense, 9990~ HP, and damage overflow, now causing me to do very miniscule amounts of damage, but nothing terrible. Cast Rates ftw.
Whoa... wait...
Set sacrifice recipes? You mean there was a use for all my uncompleted tier 6 set pieces? smurf smurf smurf....
Someone shoot me, for I hath given them all to Charsi...
Is there any method in negating an enemy's Stone Skin or Immune to Physical Attacks status?
Because I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to get to Inarius and realize that after destroying that smurfing crystal ball, the Cleric are Stone Skin or Inarius himself happens to be Stone Skin...
It's driving me up the wall.
Err..so I found my LoD disk to install. I'm confused about what you guys are saying about Median and all. >_>. What the smurf is going on?!??
EDIT:Ladder/Non?
EDIT2:Nevermind. Playing on TCP/IP
Hey, KH, I'm currently the only one playing basic, and I'm Ladder, USEast.
Yeah. Didn't you read the documentation?
Get an elemental attack. Laz says that Stone Skin and Element-Enchanted statuses automatically give immunities in Hell. It's a flaw in the coding.
It's a modification. It changes all of the requisite parts inside of the patch_d2.mpq, and turns each part into something new. It's like playing a completely new game using the DII engine.
By the way, you can't play Ladder using Median. Open and TCP/IP only. Hamachi, I have found, seems to work for playing together.
No, which happened to be a rather dimwitted move on my part...
Hmm... I'll have to keep an eye out for some tri-elemental and/or quad-elemental weapons and the like then...
Or get the Kraken Stance, but that's something I want to do...
On a different note, does anyone have any strategies on achieving the Level Challenges? I can get to the first Priestess (Ice) - with a Necromancer, Druid, Amazon, and Assassin - but I cannot kill her before her swarm of friendlies slay me and then play campout over my dead body.
Hey, I have a request...I'm going on vacation in a couple weeks to Montreal...I need to pas off Cim's accounts for that time, if anyone can pull it off? Thanks.
o rly?
The runeword Berith, Ber Ith Ber Ith has +150-300 Fire, Cold, and Lightning damage, along with some respectable mods. Joy, Zod Ber Ort Lo adds 1-1001 Lightning damage with a Stun. Anything with Way of the Spider/Pheonix, an Assassin OSkill, can add Poison/Fire damage, respectively. I doubt you'll find Way of the Gryphon, though. Snake Stance adds Poison; Pheonix Stance USED to add Fire damage, but was changed.
No, because I don't plan on doing them. I would suggest trying to pick them off, one by one, and running.
Send out a mass PM to Mulley, Lunar, SRL, and Nom. They (oddly enough) still get on from time to time.
This is worth the double post!
Anyways, listen to my sob story of how I qq. So I tried to log onto Europe to play with the venerable Captain Maxx Power. Unfortunately, I never found him online. So I go home to play Median by myself, and I start tansferring items to and from myself as necessary.
Lo and behold, I can no longer host and join any games by myself. I tried to replace the d2gfx, but it failed. So now, I resort to PlugY. However, I went through all of the instructions (not that there were many), and I cannot run the game with Median. Now, I have seen people using Median with PlugY, just that most of the options are disabled.
I just want the shared stash damnit, and I know that it can be used! I don't care about anything else from PlugY, I just want that bloody-smurfing shared stash.
EDIT: Ignore this post. You are all useless, and it works. All I had to do was run the normal game exe.
Making a Vengeance Pally. Any tips?
Tav did it, so I am too.
I need an Xfer at the next person's earliest convenience.
LoD. The obvious, Max Vengeance and Conviction are a given. Also some work into the Resist Auras for their Synergies into Conviction is a given too...now I just need to know if there's any equipment I should seek, and any other skills that may help, too.
Actually, I have not made a Vengeance Paladin on Battle.net since 1.07. I have however, made a Zeal Paladin, and a Fist of the Heavens Paladin.
Vengeance can either go Balanced, or try to focus more on any single element. Due to the massive amounts of duping on Closed Realms, your only option is to make whatever can kill the fastest, and can reach closer to the damage cap. This is reflected in the Aura synergies of Vengeance.
Vengeance (20)
Resist [insert element here] (20), or Salvation (20)
Conviction (20)
Fanatcism (optional 20)
Strength: enough to use equipment (may vary).
Dexterity: none, unless you plan on getting Max Block Rate, which could save you more often than not
Vitality: none, that Red Orb at the bottom is pointless
Energy: all! YOU NEED MANA FOR MELEE LOLOLOLOL
This'll leave about 20 skill points for pre-requisites, and Holy Shield. Stats is the standard build.
Ultimately, you'll have very few equipment options. At the end of the game, you need whatever you can get your filthy hands on that makes your elemental damage higher. Chances are, you will most likely be using Baranar's Star, or Runemaster Ettin Axe. I believe that I have a Baranar's on Ladder.
Baranar has the 1-200 damage of element (all three supported by Vengeance), which is good, and the Strength requirement without needing Dexterity (44). The weapon itself has a 50% IAS. However, Runemaster has the greatest customization options, having 3-5 sockets. You could boost damage by sticking in Ral, Tal, or Thul; you can even pump up IAS using Shael (20% IAS).
Runeword options are Beast, Ber Tir Um Mal Lum, which has the Fanatcism Aura that you so desperately need. Cresent Moon, Shael Um Tir, is particularly useful if you are making a Lightning based Vengeance Paladin. Helm could use Dream, of which we are familar with. Your shield, well, Spirit, HoZ, Exile, are all good flavors. Anything useful. Gloves, Boots, Amulet, and Rings are the standard drill.
Do note, however, that I have a pair of Dracul's Grasp Gloves. You may take them if you wish, for the incredibly valuable Life Tap proc. But to make real use of this, you need some wicked sick Attack Speed, or the Block Rate to prevent life from going bye-bye in one shot.
Armor should be Fortitude, Guardian Angel Templar Coat, or CoH. I'm sure you can look up what fits you the most, Runeword-wise.
Duly noted...it all makes sense, yeah.
What's the damage cap in Median? 65k?
Yeah, anything else rolls over until it hits x%65535, and the remainder is your current attack power. The damage on my Sorc-Druid is close enough to 130k so that it rolls over once, but the spill off remains under 65k.
Laz made the Amazon's other Bow Line better and now I have to start over so I can do that :jess:. I'll never get anywhere in this mod because I keep starting over when I get to a skill and decide I don't like it after all. I'll probably get to Buckshot and switch back to something else. Somebody slap me with their tongue.
Oh yeah, I'm a paladin like always :P. Holy paladin fyi.
So I still don't quite get the damage cap in Median. I realize it's 65k, but what exactly happens when you "roll over"? Are you saying that all damage inflicted (once "rolling over" the 65k mark) is then taken from only your stats, and not the net total of your stats and weapons and other item modifiers?
And furthermore, does this apply to poison directly as well? I ask this because poison is not administered all at once but over x amount of seconds. My guess is yes, but I have been wrong on many - if not most - accounts.
Unless you can do 65535 Poison damage per second, Poison does not have an actual damage cap. Basically, once you get to 65k, anything higher is chopped off by 65k TOTAL. Afterwards, your damage begins at 1, and rises according to the difference of the damage remaining. This roll over calculation is done from skills and all modifiers.
For example, let's say I have 35 points in a damage skill. It does 35k. I have a Magic damage modifer total of 300%. I have a total Character Damage Bonus of 100%. Since they are two different modifications, they are calculated separately. 300% Damage is like four times the true amount. 1.4e5 damage, with the Total Bonus 100% is like doubling the damage. I now deal 2.8e5 damage. If I divide the damage by 65000 and take the remainder, I now deal 20000. That's how you get your true damage.
Now, of course, those bonuses are not reflective of the actual math used in calculating damage in Median. I myself have similar stats, but only do slightly less than 65k with Mark of the Wild. I just needed some good, clean numbers.
I started a summoning Barbarian, and plan on using Corruption to get myself some Acid Fiends. I don't plan on playing this character frequently, because, well, let's face it, my Druid is more fun to use.
Side note: The damage cap only applies if you use 1.11 as your base diablo installation. 1.10 actually doesn't have a damage cap due to some coding, whereas 1.11 reinstated the old 1.09 formula. Since fundamentally there's no real difference between 1.10 and 1.11 baring merc recruitment levels and the Open Wounds formula, it's recommended you use 1.10, especially if you're damage is overflowing.
Too bad mercs in Median are fairly useless outside of normal play. Their AI sucks.
