So basically the poll is "Are you North American?"
Seems that way. Lucky we know that they are always wrong, so it's okay that we're outnumbered.
Rase
I didn't read the OP but if this is about pronunciations then everyone who doesn't pronounce it my way is gay and lame.
"Vayze"
Like "Swayze"
As in not "Vahz" or "Vays". O:
Well, NORMALLY American English has bastardized the pronunciation of words from their original British English form, but that's actually not the case here. The original British English pronunciation is the one that rhymes with 'race.' This is evident in the many rhymes by British poets using the word from hundreds of years ago, like your friend and mine, Lord Byron.
I don't understand how or why modern British English speakers say it differently than older British English speakers clearly did. They're forced, however, to concede that either a) all other American English language changes are valid and correct, or b) the way they say "vase" is wrong.
So, Euros, which is it?
Normally, when confronted with the problem of vase vs. vase, I just make loud grunting noises until the person understands that I do not have the intelligence to differentiate between vase and vase.
