Leveling Up

i got into a fight with two magic pots once, i had no elixers and they nicked one of my weapons, bastards

I use Mideel forest near the end of the first disc. I've gotten my characters almost level 60 so far. It takes forever, though, because there isn't a forest accessable in that part of the game, and 4 insects are hard to come by. I usually get three at a time. Another saved game I have, I'm attempting to master three mimic materia, and I use the mideel forest. I think I have three right now, but I haven't played for a long time so I'm not positive. When I get to the Third disc again, I think I'll go after the little balls and magic pots. :P

The Northern Crater, Fighting Magic Pots using the W-Item Trick! and EXP Plus Materia

For reference, the bouncing balls are the Movers. They come in groups of three, and yield Turbo Ethers and 24000 AP, I believe. Magic Pots come in groups of 1 or 2 and yield 10000 AP each.

I thought it was LEVELING UP? and Movers have 2400 and Magic Pots have 1000

I you have W-Item, then you could get yourself a whole lot of Elixers and fight the Elixer pots in Northern Crater... Usually when i'm training on Disc 1, I go to the Wutai continent, but make sure you don't start going up the mountain, if you haven't already done that part.

Off by a factor of ten, sorry. Magic Pots also yield a lot of EXP. I think those might be the numbers I was thinking of.

In my experience(and from what I can remember), a good group of Magic Pots(two or three) yields more AP than Movers.

the Gelnika is great, especially if you bring Yuffie with the Conformer to morph the monsters into sources.

Yeah, but later in the game, AP is more important than Exp. The Gelinka will give you good exp along with sources, Mideel forest will give you good exp and great AP, and North Crater will give you great exp and great AP. Just depends on what you need at the moment, and how powerful your party is.

North Crater- high-powered party with a lot of elixirs.
Mideel forest- any party can fight here(which is why I say it's the 2nd best place in the game to level up)
Gelinka- high-powered party with Yuffie and Conformer.

Movers give enormous amounts of AP and gil, but actually give no EXP. Just worth noting.

After EXP becomes worthless, the Gelnika is the place to go for sources. I've never stat maxed completely down there, however.

ok...so wheres the best place to gain AP for materia w/o b4 u get to the northern crater???

Can't you level up in the Northern Crater.. I'm pretty sure you can land there and climb down and then climb back out when ever you want to ?
