I wonder how you move the trainer and the pokemon at the same time. Good choice of pokemon though, the original 3 that actually looks menacing.

I wish the trainer had Bulbasaur Charmeleon and Blastoise, I would like that better. I think this would be my second choice though. Other than that, I can't wait to see what they release tomorrow. I get so excited when I wake up every morning becasue I get to see what else is new!
xD...
This game will be spectacular.
december 3rd right...i wanna kick butt with snake:D
UPDATE: DEVIL FROM THE NES. WATCH OUT AND NEVER POINT YOUR FINGER KIDS!...oh damn caps >_<
I can't help but get the feeling that the people who play Melee professionally and are really serious about the game are very happy with how Brawl seems to be turning out. I just get the vibe that Nintendo is targetting the more casual audience (which, granted, is far larger). This works perfectly fine for me, but I have friends who are already bitching about it.
I'm groaning at the Pokemon Trainer, by the way.
Remember also, most professional Smash play tends to gut just about everything about the game that it's intended to be. Smash Brothers was created to be a nutty, chaotic game with items and weird, random stages and four players trying to kill each other. Tournament play tends to be quite a bit more vanilla, with Final Destination 1v1 no item matches being pretty standard. Consequently the reason I don't attend the Smash Club at my university, I tend to feel that doing this constantly sucks the fun out of it and makes it a chore instead of a game.
Also, the Pokemon Trainer seems to have some interesting mechanics that even pro players could get into. The switching and hidden stamina effect is something a really good player would have to work to master, and if the Pokemon Trainer is executed well I could see it being a good contender (although I get the feeling the switch requirement might drop it in the tiers if certain pokemon are really only good in certain situations).

The history of this game is actually a little fascinating to me. This is the only game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto that hasn't been released in the US (though it came out in Europe). At the time, Nintendo America didn't allow religious figures in their games. Go figure.
(SPOILER)Easter Egg: Info Source link hidden in the text!
I present to you....UPDATE : STICKERS!!
Reminds me of sticky notes =P...Screenshots and comics...awesome!
I'd buy the game for the Rawk Hawk sticker.
It would be cool if, as new Nintendo games come out, they release more stickers through downloadable content or something. Or maybe if you play the game, the save data from that game can be used to unlock the stickers in Smash Bros.
The developers obviously favour the Gamecube buttons.
I live in the US and I've played it n.n
You has to gets all of the crosses and put them in the middle I thinks.
I got this little thingamabob shaped like an N64 controller that was supposed to have over 75,000 retro games in it, but really it had about thirty repeated over and over and over, sometimes with different names XD
I played it a little yesterday after I found out about it. Weird thing is that everything is in English, though it's a Japanese game. It's kind of dumb, no big loss that it never came out. Nifty bit of history though.
Update: Tether Recovery. A technique that uses the character's grappling hook/plasma whip.
That's not new. :P
Well.....don't blame me! I'm just casually updating/bumping this thread. Blame someone else Nintendo for not recognizing sooner or just updating it for the newbs, not n00bs or noobs.
Heh, another Smash Bros. Brawl site seems to update daily.
Smash Bros. MOJO!!
Todays update was Jirachi, whom according to the site does absolutely nothing. I guess it's making fun of Mew in Melee and 64.
I was a master of the Hookshot save in Melee. I don't see how it could be more useful this time around though.
Maybe they made it longer? Or maybe quicker? o_o Either that, or they made it so that it locks on to the tip of the ledge.
Well yay :3
Peach is playable? Who knew?
How dare you! I was about to update us :P. Darn KH : CoM >_>
Update : Peach...everything is the same about her except she will get a Final Smash
Despite already being a shoo-in for the game, she was already revealed in that Single Player video a week or so ago. Easy update for them this time, kind of anticlimactic for the end of the week.
WOOO!! My favorite update of all :). Update time: LINK's SPECIAL MOVES!
Improved boomerang, now called Gale Boomerang
Hero's bow, same as SSBM
Bombs, same as SSBM
Spin attack!! Now chargeable.
Improved grab, it is now a Clawshot. Aims for the nearest edge.
Boo ya!
Yay, the Clawshot and the Gale Boomerang! They were both a lot of fun in Twilight Princess. <3
I'm 50-50 about the boomerang.
On one hand, it is definately much cooler, on the other hand I got so used to the boomerang before and I couldn't fault it.
But this will probably be a change for the better so yeah, forget I said anything.
More about the story of the story mode. Guest appearances by ROB and Petey Piranha. :P
Petey's roar was unexpectedly SCARY!
Heh, subspace army. Seems fun to pwn :)
they look fun to beat
are the subspace army from any game though?
Nope.
Yay Diddy Kong!!!!!
THE JACKEL
Boo, Diddy Kong. >:(
What time did it update o.o
Diddy Kong will...seem crazy
i'm so glad my friend just got a Wii. This is gonna be World War when this game comes out.
It's about time Diddy Kong made it in a Super Smash Bros. Game. Even though he isn't one of my most favourite Nintendo characters.
Personally I was thinking they'd put in King K. Rool or Cranky Kong as a Donkey Kong Series Character update. Yeah Cranky might be a weird character to put in but it would sure be funny being him.
I hope Diddy still has his peanut pistols
TWO Updates: Yoshi final smash and a song from Animal Crossing.
Go K.K. Rider was one of my favourite songs in Animal Crossing.
I get the feeling they had a hard time thinking of something for Yoshi's final smash.
Looks awesome. Super Dragon, lol.
The new update is more info about the story mode. I take back what I said about it being just like the SSBM Adventure mode. :P There are even bosses.
Damn Roto, you're fast or I got distracted :P
Update: Petey the Piranha. First boss encounter.
I get home from work half an hour before midnight. Smashbros.com is on my list of things to check. :P
Well..I usually stay up and wait for the updates xD. And smashbros.com is my homepage :D
I'd save Zelda just because I like her more...
edit: Oooooh~ I bet Diddy's Final will reference his Guitar Special in DK64.
Ooh, replay value.
Superspicy Curry. I think that's from the first Kirby's Dream Land.
I turned my computer on for this?
did anyone else notice metaknight isn't listed in their character section as "announced" on the site yet they just went through his special moves today...
THE JACKEL
Two updates for the price for on...excellent :)
Original Andross looks sorta weird period.
Yeah, I'm double posting. Suck it. Six new special moves for the Pokemon trainer. Interesting. :P
Maybe the last 3 are secret/incomplete. Or maybe they just won't do it, I dunno.
Missing moves : what could go there
Squirtle's standard special: Bubble Beam
Ivysaur's side special: Boomerang-style Razor Leaf
Charizard's up special: Seismic Toss
Bubble Beam could be a low-damage multi-hit attack, like Link/Sheik/Falco etc's flurry attacks.
Razor Leaf could work like Link's boomerang, being able to adjust the angle you launch the attack with.
Seismic Toss would be a suicide move if trying to use it for recovery (as most Up+B moves are used), but he has wings so let him have either higher jumps or a 3rd natural jump.
Now that I think about it, they are likely to each have one more special move, because it would be weird to be pressing B with Squirtle and have nothing happen.
What about Final Smash moves? Do you think they'll each get their own, or will the Pokemon trainer get one? If they each get their own, I'm betting on Hydro Pump, Solar Beam, and Fire Blast. If there's only one, it's probably a fourth Pokemon. Maybe Mew or something.
I actually reckon Bulby's Side+Special will be a HM like cut (Squirtle's Waterfall and Charizard's Rock Smash)... :]
I like the new update. Gliding. That looks like a fun addition.
Well it's not a third jump, but I wasn't too far off in thinking that they'd utilize Charizard's (and others') wings. This is cool.
So, lemme see if I've got this right.
You can glide from your first jump, but you can't glide from your double jump? If you could do that then you'd be able to recover by flying back to the stage.
That's mental.
It's basically what Peach has, only more versatile and on more characters. It'll make things interesting though for sure.
And even while it's great for recovery, you're set on that path. You can't change direction like Kirby/Jigglypuff could (only tilting up and down) so you're likely WIDE open to a Meteor Smash.
It would be cool if Mario had some way to put on his cape so he could glide as well. Like Super Mario World.
I like that idea. Especially if you can do the pounding attack by tilting all the way forward and nose-diving. :P
They need pacman as an assist trophy character. :)
Eh? This will be fun surviving :P
I wonder what other characters get to glide that they haven't mentioned yet.
I'm hoping they'll update the stages section soon.
oo man im so hyped ^__^
That stage looks deranged. I like it!
I can't wait to try that stage! xP
New adventure mode video pits descent.
Looks pretty cool I hope all the characters have these. :)
dude Pit just became like, 10x more awesome
THE JACKEL
what's with them posting special moves, but never all of them?
THE JACKEL
I'm looking forward to fighting petey pirinha with kirby in adventure mode. :D
this was the, oh we've already talked/shown metaknight and his special moves, let's show him, post.
THE JACKEL
It's about time they added Meta Knight's profile. I really hope that if they are adding his moves to his profile they'll also add another update. Otherwise it'll pretty much be a waste of an update.
Then again it'll help explain some of Meta Knight's moves in more detail. I don't really get how his Triple Dash works.
Wow. I guess I am.
YAY!
Diddy Kong gets his DK64 Moves n_n-b... that makes me happy.
So now it's REAL obvious what his final smash will be... for anyone who has played it.
interesting, they gave mario a new down+B move, maybe it'll be like samus's missle from melee, in that a fast tap does a direct missle, so a fast tap will still do the mario tornado
THE JACKEL
I'm liking the new Pokemon Stadium stage:D
Pokemon stage looks good.
F.L.U.D.D is cool too.
I'm just going to guess that Mario's losing his Down+A break dancing or Up+A noggin Smash and replacing whichever one with the Mario Tornado.
I can see the new FLUDD attack being spammed for edgeguarding already.
as if the cape that turned people around wasn't already amazing for edge guarding. Next to fox, I found mario to be my best edge guarder
THE JACKEL
So, music! The 'Evolution' theme at the end was kind of cheesy in the Pokemon one, though I wonder if that would signify some kind of gameplay change in that stage.
Music as unlockables is an idea I like. Multiple songs for each stage is someting I like too! The ability to be able to set the frequency of a particular song on a particular stage is a nice touch for extra customization.
Ah, the classic Pokemon Gym theme...Nintendo's music are pretty good.
Woah, is this Boxart real?
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=230015
:o If so, I like it! Especially that symbol in the upper left corner! :D
Don't know, seen three of these different boxarts.
Only three?
Here's a whole bunch of SSBB Boxarts. None of them are probably real though.
I wouldn't trust any art prior to announcement.
Munchlax has made it as a Pokeball Pokemon. He may prove very useful depending on how fast he walks and whether he prioritizes getting items closer to enemies rather than you.
I didn't actually think there'd be any 4th Generation Pokemon at all in the game.
Hopefully this means that 4th Generation Pokemon such as Palkia and Shaymin will be appearing as Pokeball Pokemon as well. It also means that Lucario will probably have a better chance of being a playable Pokemon.
Lol, time to make sure my enemies don't get any items :P
Lyn is in the game! =)
But as an assist trophy though
Now they finally show the Battleship Halberd as a playable level.
It's awesome how they kept the cannon on the Halberd and didn't even change its features. The extendable arm on the cannon is still there.
Chaos is fun in small doses (or in overly large ones, such as the WarioWare stage).
Lyn n_n~
All the stages seem to be dynamic. I'd really like to see some new stages that aren't changing every two minutes. Sure, Battlefield and Final Destination are likely to make a return, among others, but I'd like to see some new stages that aren't moving around all the time.
Now they have Special Brawls which make it possible to have multiple changes to battles like permanent big size status, Metal, Bunnyhood, and reflect status (which would cause projectile pinball since everyone will automatically reflect projectiles) on all at once. This'll make battles a lot more amusing and interesting.
I'm hoping that they'll make a character update soon.
It seems the two very adorable Ice Climbers are back :3!
It looks like Nintendo was listening to me after all.
I really liked the Ice Climbers in Super Smash Bros. Melee. They're my 2nd best character (the 1st being Marth). I just knew Nintendo wouldn't get rid of them in Brawl. :D
The Ice Climbers will be a lot less fun if Nintendo fixed the glitch that allowed you to freeze your opponent in a single frame, which Nintendo undoubtedly did.
ice climbers!!! yay!:D
Anyone see the Hammer update?
Yep. It's probably the Golden Hammer from Wrecking Crew. That game is so much fun. I hope it makes it to the Virtual Console. I also hope the Golden Hammer Music plays while someone has it. That music is so awesome.
Wi-fi capability confirmed. Awesome.
I hope they can implement some kind of headset communication. Smash isn't the same without trash-talking.
Wi-Fi isn't too impressive lately, it's nothing compared to XBox Live, but headsets would be nice.
The Enemies from Subspace.
I'm liking Shaydas most right now. Enemies with blades are usually fun.
I'm continually amazed that Nintendo's online service this generation is actually :skull::skull::skull::skull:tier than Sony's pretty pathetic effort last generation, but online in Brawl is, at least, online in Brawl.
Now they just need to grasp the concept of how big a role voice communication can play in this sort of experience.
They added Lyn Hurray!!
Snake? ...Snake!? ....Snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!!!!
I'm liking Snake's theme song. Now, I bet quite a few people are going to plant land mines near the edge of the stage as edge guarding. And then there's the Nikita Missiles. And grenades.
And don't forget the box.
Piplup being a Pokeball Pokemon has practically confirmed that they're officially adding both 3rd and 4th Generation Pokemon in Brawl. That's good because I was kind of worried that they wouldn't add Pearl and Diamond Pokemon even with those games being released before Brawl did.
The Smash Bros. series always had a habit of skipping a Pokemon generation (having no Johto Pokemon in the N64 Version but having a Pokemon game with Johto Pokemon also on the N64, having no Hoenn Pokemon in the Gamecube version but having Hoenn Pokemon in a Pokemon Game also on the Gamecube). I know Nintendo can't really help doing that but I'm glad they didn't do that for Brawl (having no Sinnoh Pokemon on the Wii Version despite having a Pokemon game on the Wii with Sinnoh Pokemon).
As for Snake, I was against him being in Brawl from the beginning. I guess as long as Brawl is still more Nintendo than anything else (Konami, Namco, Square-Enix, etc.) I guess it should be okay.
See Diddy Kong's final smash
The new assist trophy looks annoying.
Even though the maker of the MGS series practically begged for Snake to be in the game I'm still somewhat against it.
Mr. Resetti as an assist trophy sure is quite odd. Just imagine him appearing in the Last Event Match or when you're facing the Ancient Minister.
Hopefully he isn't one of those invincible Assist Trophies. It'd be quite fun to smash him out of the level during his lectures.
Todays update features the Pokemon Trainer's final smash
>_
>______<
Hurry up and be out already!
It's super effective!
No critical hit?
New update today. Tourney mode
Tourney is short for Tournament. Nonetheless it is still cool.
A playable Earthbound character has been added to the roster! Here's the thing, though. It's not Ness!
Check today's update to see who it is. You'd be surprised;)
That kids scary I mean look those big black holes for eyes.
*Shudder*
Ness is from the old Mother games. Lucas is from Mother 3, the newer game. Lucas will likely play a larger role in Brawl than Ness does, if Ness stays in the game.
I don't see them removing Ness, but they'll likely be focusing more on Lucas this time from the Mother games.
I don't recall them saying that they 'got rid of' Roy and Marth. As far as I know they haven't said anything definitive about any characters not reappearing, just the 'there will be no clones' comment.
Correction, JKTrix. Ness is from Earthbound, Mother 2. There was no other Mother game that he appeared in. However, he did borrow the design of the main character of Mother 1, Ninten.
It looks like Lucas made it as a playable character despite being a Japan Only Character. This is really great. I look forward to seeing his moveset.
The update today does kind of lower the chance of Poo, Paula, and Jeff making it in (seeing as how only lead Mother characters are playable so far). But seeing Lucas (a Japan Only character) being playable increases the chance of characters like Stafy, Lip, and our favourite swordsman (Marth & Roy) making it in more than makes up for it.
Isn't that still Ness in the NES Version of Mother?
How cute does Kirby look in that image :3
No.
"EarthBound is a distant sequel to the original Mother, with many characters, themes, and tunes borrowed from its predecessor. Many of the characters and settings are very similar, but the only explicitly returning character is Giygas, who swears revenge at the end of the first game (evidenced by Mother 2's Japanese subtitle: Gyiyg Strikes Back!)."
Source: EarthBound (series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A nice video of Snake taking on Mario, as well as some other takers. I'm thinking I like the way he looks like he plays, his attacks seem fairly strong and quick, and his Specials are pretty versatile. Also, some info on Snakes stage, Shadow Moses Island. Wonder how that ComLink thing will work out, and if it only happens when Snake is fighting on the stage.
"Otacon, what's that lizard thing?!"
Probably the best update thus far.
Shdow moses island looks cool.
I'm still against Snake being in Brawl.
But I admit that the video about Yoshi and Wario were quite funny.
I honestly don't see why it's so bad that Snake is in Brawl. The only thing that significantly separates him from the other characters is his being 3rd Party.
Lawl Lakitu~ and Excitebike :x
Well, now that the Lakitu is an item, I'd say it's confirmed that more people will play with items on.
I think they should have changed the pixels into 3D art.
Why is that? Having the original 2D Sprites in a 3D world simply gives off a nice feeling of nostalgia, if you ask me.
I wonder if it will be possible to be able to set the frequency of certain Assist Trophies, kind of like how you can set the frequency of a stage's music.
With all these assist trophies coming out that are supposedly random, it would be nice to be able to filter them somehow.
It would be pretty nice if we could make it so that only Lakitu's would appear when on the Mushroom Kingdom stage, which will undeniably be in this game. >_>
If that were the case, they'd probably have to add in a similar option for Pokeballs.
Lol, breakable walls for Shadow Moses Island. Video of Snake flying away from the spotlight, haha.
Excitebike...brings back memories.
Landmaster tank FTW
THE JACKEL
Landmaster looks powerful. :)
Landmaster looks a little too unwieldy for my taste. How the hell are you supposed to aim something bigger than half the field?
Who cares that it's a Landmaster? You can do a barrel roll with it!
It's too bad they didn't show us how to shield/dodge roll with just the Wii Remote/Wii Nunchuck-Remote Combo. I really want to know how you're supposed to shield with such a limited amount of buttons.
My guess for just the Wii Remote would be the B trigger. I can see using the 1 and 2 buttons in place of A and B, but I don't know what the Wii Remote's A button would do.
Dude! Co-op story mode is made of win
THE JACKEL
That's awesome. :D
I was thinking that there was no chance of having Two Player Adventure Mode when I first saw the Subspace Emissionary Update. I'm glad it turns out I was wrong. It's going to be so much fun using the Mario Brothers or Kirby and Meta Knight or the Kongs or other team ups in Adventure Mode.
I really can't wait to try it out.
Oh, me likey.
I guess it might take a little bit of getting use to being 2P if that was required. :3
While I like Kirby's fine culinary skills, I'm worried that Zero Suit Samus isn't going to work. A very weak Paralyzer shot, and two moves that utilize her Plasma Whip. Maybe she is agile, but she needs a bigger repertoire...
I can see the Paralyzer being useful once an enemy is off the edge and trying to return. Just stun them in the air and watch 'em fall.
I'm glad they finally updated Kirby's Final Smash. It's strange that his Final Smash was the last one to be updated out of the original 8 when his was shown in the preview.
Ashley's theme. I loved that song in Wario Ware, and I like the new version as well. The English version is fifty times better than the Japanese one. :P
Oh yeah. I forgot to comment about the song.
It was somewhat amusing, catchy, yet annoying at the same time.
Now that song is stuck in my head.
They added Sonic.. Hurray!!
I must admit this isn't that much of a shock, but still, glad to see it finally confirmed.
I like the new gameplay footage also. Very sweet looking.
I was actually beginning to doubt whether they'd add Sonic or not, but I've not really been actively keeping up with the news other than checking this thread every now and again. Looks like a nice addition, though I'm still hoping that they bring more characters back from SSB:M. I'd be fairly disappointed if they removed Roy and Marth, for instance and Ganondorf too. Obviously he's essentially a slower, more powerful Captain Falcon but I enjoyed using both.
sonic huh, I look forward to seeing his move set
THE JACKEL
The one character I never thought would make it into a Smash Bros. game when the original came out.
The Sonic Dash, and Super Sonic as his final smash. Ah, the memories...
Also, I loved that his introduction was him running over Mario. :D
I saw the gameplay footage and all I can say is..................WOW:eek:
They actually obeyed the requests to put Sonic in? I guess he's better than Snake. But I'm still against it though.
I do admit that that movie (the one without Sonic in it) was really impressive. I even liked how they showed some things that they didn't even update yet (like Kyorgre and Torchic and some stages).
Also, what was with those combined taunts? At least that's what they looked like.
Oh Sonic, how I love you.
I laughed when I saw that Sonic was in it, especially after remembering VG Cats =P I don't really care who's in Brawl, as long as they make for fun fights~
I love life.
