I go to various people, ask them all to vote for the categories that are tied (without even revealing who the tied members are - in other words, all nominees are listed so to give those a little way behind chance of an upset, creating fairness) and then hope for an outcome. If there is still a tie, then I go to get more votes. I always make sure I get at least three people involved with each tie so even they don't know who will win until the winners are revealed. :)
It's not a pretty special occasion, though. Ties are pretty common. There are some Ciddies that even today were tied between four different nominees at some point. I think there are about 3-4 that are in such a position.
The reason I have tie-breaker positions reserved is because too many people in the past would not vote in the hope that they can instead be tie-breakers, which is kind of silly.
All tie-breakers will have been active members of the community for at least the majority of the past six months.
EDIT: I have 4,654 votes in from 108 members! :) That's the lowest amount since 2004... The lovely voters are as follows:

Sadly, I won't be extending it for longer than two weeks as people often complain that it drags out - also, I have to time it so that it ends the weekend before EoFF's Anniversary. :D Happy times!
EDIT: I've contacted a further 46 people today, basicaly every nominee who isn't banned (excepting those that I know don't wish to be contacted) and hasn't voted. Hopefully we'll at least see a few more people putting in some last-minute votes! :)

I've finally completed my nominations tally.
With that said, I'm going to bed shortly so I can get a good sleep in before the big day. So with that said, I'm leaving voting open tonight, but the last three sets of votes I get in overnight will be used ONLY for tie-breaking purposes. This leaves it out of my hands! It also allows me to get around the problem of tie-breaking. 'cause I'm not sure all my tie-breakers would be around in the short timeframe I have between counting the final votes tomorrow, and doing the awards.
Once BoB is back and we're in the flat again, we'll sort out all the posts I'll be making in the revelations thread and get into things ASAP. :D
