Welcome back Steven Gerrard.... now, can you play central defense?
Take care all.
Welcome back Steven Gerrard.... now, can you play central defense?
Take care all.
It was good to see Owen Hargreaves back too!
Owen "Those injuries were all United's fault" Hargreaves. But seriously, when a guy is injured that long, you really want him to play very well, even if he is playing for your rival. I genuinely hope he has an immense season - so long as City don't win anything, of course. ;)
Owen "Offered to play for Man United for free" Hargreaves :colbert:
...actually why the smurf am I praising somebody who offered to do that? Burn in hell, Sven's lovechild! :doublecolbert:
What a ungratefull prick Owen Hargreaves turned out to be. Too right, and to say he had his wages in the bank every weekend while playing feck-all football for three years or so makes me cringe. I think it's accepable to say that United would have some of the best medical staff any club would hope for, so blaming a team for your injuries is a bit much. Headlines were something along the lines of "Unnessesary injections could have ruined my career" - Well lets not forget either that it was ultimately up to him whether he wanted an injection or not. If what he is saying is true, and he knew something was wrong, then all he had to do was say it. And I used to think he was a nice guy :(
I wouldn't say he was angry or anything, the words are mostly out of context and seem much worse on written paper than when he actually said them. He was asked some awkward questions, too. When asked if you were happy with getting treatment that, inevitably, did not work and potentially exaggerated some problems... who would say "Yeah, I was happy with the treatment!"? Nobody in their right mind. However, it was actually us that sent him off to get the surgery that he inevitably needed and I don't think City can claim to be the reason for him being fit again. He was fit when we let him go.
He actually mentioned that he's good friends with the docs at United etc. and I honestly don't think there was any hidden agenda, it's just journalists trying to (rather successfully, I suppose) work a story out of Hargo moving from United to City. They'll ask as many questions as they can with the intention of finding an angle that they can exploit, and in this case, they did so. I don't think he has any ill feelings towards United, he did after all offer to play for us for free. If he wasn't happy with United, why the hell would he do that?
Well, looks like I was right that Tevez will be down on Man City's depth charts.
Take care all.
Can't believe Tevez's side of the story at all. He's thick, but he's not so thick that he can't do what he's told on matchday. It's not like he doesn't understand the words for being told to go on - he's been a sub a lot in his career before in English football.
At least now we know why Fergie was reluctant to give him a contract.
^ My thoughts exactly.
I'm finding the whole thing absolutely hilarious
To quote the song about him, I just can't seem to get enough of Luis Suarez. The only thing he could've done to troll Everton more would've been to pull out a wad of £20 notes and throw them at Moyes and the crowd when he scored. Sending off was ridiculous, but after all the titty decisions we've been on the receiving end of this season I find it hard to be sympathetic. Especially when half the Everton crowd leave early (leaving the derby early? really?) and the ones that stayed hurled coins at poor old sweet innocent Luis and all round nice guy Craig Bellamy.
Man thinking back on the history of the football thread, it's hilarious how it's changed. Remember when the entire thing was me for City, Pauw for Liverpool, Towns and Donal for Man Utd and about 10 ponces who "supported" Arsenal when they were playing top 4 football, and now they've all disappeared since Arsenal have reverted to their true form of being a bag of tit. All either left effoff for good or switched to the NFL thread like fairweather fan charliepanayi. Wonder if they'll start showing up again if Arsenal manage to squeak a 1-0 win over Norwich or something.
Yeah what the smurf Arsenal fans, stick by your team even throughout their midtable mediocrity. You didn't see me going anywhere throughout the Hodgson days.
Speaking of fairweather fans, with Liverpool v Man United on the horizon (and thus my baiting begins) it is of note that precisely 1 (one) of EoFF's United horde, Daniel F. Towns esq. posted in the thread after they took a tonking from us last time. If it happens again, I demand you all come out to pay tribute to the best football team in the history of everything. Aka Luis Suarez, 'cause we are a one man team. Which is nothing new really.
Arsenal have Arse in their very name how can you not support them I mean come on
if jay played for man united he would be in the england squad forever.
just sayin' like
Traditionally over the past few years the games at Anfield have been cagey affairs with one goal possibly deciding the fixture. Man U & Liverpool are playing more open this year and I think we could see a lot of goals next week, like a 3-2 or that, with all the makings of a classic.
United will win, but that goes without saying. :smug:
I'm coining the phrase 'gloryhunter guilt'
England Euro 2012 squad imho:
GK: Hart, Stockdale, Carson
DF: Richards, Kelly, Jones, Smalling, Shawcross, Taylor, Baines.... Ashley Cole :colbert:
MF: Cleverley, Wilshere, Parker, Milner, Young, Johnson, Downing, Jarvis
FW: Welbeck, Rooney, Bent, Carroll.
It's not about BLOODING THE YOUTH necessarily - Parker, Downing, Young, etc. are proof of that - it's about getting rid of the mainstays of the side from the past few years. Two exceptions being Ashley Cole and Wayne Rooney simply because there's nobody else anywhere near good enough in their positions. We know Lampard, Terry, Stevie G et al aren't capable of winning anything. They're only deteroriating now, and if they couldn't win anything in their prime what hope do they have now? Give someone new a go. smurf it, who cares.
Capello will not do this and John Terry will start every game.
PS: Gary Cahill is not good at football. Why can nobody else see this? (says the man with him in his fantasy football team...)
PPS: smurf Theo Walcott and Aaron Lennon too. Seriously. I would rather have Oxlade-Chamberlain ffs.
No love for Scotty Sinclair? I watched the U21 World Cup or whatever it was a few months back and he was their best player. Not even biased.
EDIT: Possibly biased
Cahill is good at the parts of football that are relevant to his position. He's also got a pretty good head on his shoulders and is a good leader, from what I understand. I mean, not every central defender needs to be capable of running halfway up the pitch and pulling in assists from within the opposition box. Can't all be Phil Jones! :)
Yeah throw Sinclair and Sturridge in there actually.
Cahill reminds me of Matthew Upson. He's just an average Premiership defender. Nothing special and not worth £15m or however much is being touted. Also Phil Jones is not a very good Centre Back either precisely because of his rampaging runs. It's why United have conceded more shots than any other team this season. I think he'd make a phenomenal defensive midfielder though. It's funny that my Liverpool prediction is actually true of United. A rather poor defence made up for by a "smurf you, we'll score 10" attitude.
edit: Why are Manchester United allowing so many shots on their goal this season? | Zonal Marking they're not blaming Phil Jones BUT I AM. That'll teach you to turn down LFC, Phillip. :colbert:
prediction for the game: 3-3.
(and by 3-3 I mean 4-3 ANDY CARROLL TO SCORE ALL FOUR :smug:)
To be fair, I agree with you that Jones' attacking movements are contributing to us conceding more shots than anyone else. Vidic and Rio would never go that far up pitch.
EDIT: Despite that, I still prefer an 8-2 scoreline to a 2-0. :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...s/7d40082e.jpg
So, who are the dirty handballing cheating scum now then, Cuchulainn my dheartháir?
EDIT: Or are you from NI I forget
He's a Belfast boy.
If you honestly cannot tell the diffefence between the two incidents then you're an idiot, however I suspect you can & are trollfacing. Anyway Simon Cox is not really Irish he's from Reading.
That aside it was an awful decision by an awful referee. It did not change the fate of the game or both teams. Ireland only needed a draw and there was no way on earth Armenia was winning that game. It does give some creedence to the existance of Karma though.
PS: I'm from the occupied 6 counties. I follow Ireland, my sort is not welcome at Northern Ireland games. You need to be Protestant, Unionist & a Rangers fan to be accepted. I'm none of the above so 45% of Northern Ireland follow Ireland & the rest follow nothern Ireland.
I'm just bitter that Wales waited until they were absolutely sure they wouldn't qualify before deciding to have a go. Any team with Aaron Ramsey, Gareth Bale and Ashley Williams in the lineup should be finishing above Switzerland and Montesmurfingnegro.
Also, Rooney banned for three matches. That's the whole group stage. It's not that much of a blow when you think about it, as judging by their World Cup group stage performance they aren't going to try and score in the first round anyway. But they had better hope for a good draw, as Darren Bent and Peter frigging Crouch are about as international standard footballers as Emile - oh, wait.
It's a shame, just over ten years ago England had decent strikers coming out of their ears (Shearer, Sheringham, Cole, *cough* Owen) but not much else. Now they have a slightly more average outfield squad and one striker. I suggest that they play a 5-4-1 until Rooney is available and hope that one of Glen Johnson's stupidly overhit long balls to absolutely nowhere™ catches the opposition keeper off his line.
Montenegro have Vucinic and Jovetic who are better than Ramsey and Bale. (and, to be fair, England's players too but that's not the point) Isn't Ashley Williams the bird from Mass Effect? Switzerland, though, yeah what the smurf man.
Also I'd be surprised if Glen Johnson is still Liverpool's #1 right back come June, much less England's.
Also also, Fergie: Fans should show respect | News I dislike the man. I do. But I'll be god damned if I don't respect him. He speaks a lot of sense here. Chelsea and City may be better than Liverpool, but do any of them want to smash the everloving tit out of United like we do? I don't think so. I think the level we play at vs United (well, over recent years. I hope we keep it up at the weekend...! Please...?) in that one specific game could smurfing win the league if we did it every week.
I am fed up of these small plucky sides coming to Anfield, playing 4-5-1, and sneaking goals from set pieces. Also diving. Look at this. Shocking diving from Manchester United.
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ss/2cf2xiu.gif
OH NO LOOKS LIKE I GAVE AWAY A CORNER! BETTER FLOP TO THE GROUND AND HOWL FOR THREE MINUTES!!!!
You'd never catch a Liverpool player diving in such a manner. Never, ever. Take a good hard look at a British player like Charlie Adam and see if he would ever dive because he lost control of the ball. Seriously, these are our so called league champions?! I didn't vote for them. Did you? No? You know what, I don't know anyone who voted for them. What a smurfing joke. Well done on winning your cup final you diving bin-dippers. Stealing goals just like you steal hubcaps.
see, look, I am posting in the thread after Liverpool lost. I am more of a man than any of you were last time!
did someone forget to put the studs in liverpool players boots today? they were diving everywhere
It was just Liverpool who dived and anything my gif shows to the contary is false. :colbert:
But yeah no just 'cause United did it too, that doesn't make it right. There were some smurfing shocking dives from Liverpool players today and it was embarassing to watch that trout at times.
Danielle's granddad hasn't been well so we had to go down and visit, so I missed the game. Apparently there was racist stuff coming from Suarez towards Evra. Suarez isn't exactly the most "fair play, good sport" guy out there, but then as much as I love Evra and his insane nature, he's no angel either. I have no idea what to believe on that end.
Gutted that I missed the game, though, but at least I saw the much more important game this weekend (go the All Blacks!).
Massive game next weekend.
If it comes out that Luis really did make those comments then he should receive a pretty smurfing heavy ban imho. He's our best player and it'll severely hammer LFC, but it's right. But given that Sky's cameras haven't picked it up, the ref did not actually hear the comments, and Evra has been involved in false racism allegations before, I'm giving Suarez the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
Jesus dogsmurfing christ. Those last 5 minutes made me feel violently ill.
Game plan for home games for Liverpool football club, 2011-2012 season:
- Smash the tit out of the opposition and get 20,000 shots on goal and approximately 393% possession.
- Despite having all these chances, they will not be scored. This is because Luis Suarez, while a genius, is bad at finishing.
- Andy Carroll, incidentally, is just plain bad.
- And who is this floppy blonde haired impostor and what has he done with the real Dirk Kuyt?
- Eventually go 1-0 up, perhaps due to a free kick.
- JOB DONE. WE SCORED. Doop de doop de doop oh who cares anymore we're gonna win let's just start throwing sloppy passes around anywhere.
- Opposition nick jammy goal against run of play.
- OH tit WE'RE DRAWING AGAIN! Uh. Uh. smurf. Uh... oh tit. Oh smurf. This is not what we wanted to happen!
- CHUCK LONG BALLS AT ANDY CARROLL UNTIL THE GAME IS OVER!!!!!!! Andy Carroll does nothing productive with them because, as mentioned previously, he is bad.
Sunderland, Man United, and Norwich. smurf me. Can't keep doing this tit against smaller teams, man. That's 6 points dropped now. And we should've had 3 against Stoke. We play great football at times but we can be so infuriating! I should really be used to this by now.
I could watch Luis forever though. He's everything. Everything apart from a clinical finisher I guess. Honest to god, if he had the finishing ability of 2008 Fernando Torres or 1995 Andy Cole or something, he would actually be the best player on the planet.
edit: jesus christ i just realised we're turning into arsenal. Makes sense given that this season they've done their best Hodgson Liverpool impression.
We better win tomorrow.
We probably won't. :( Normally I'm the kind of person who is optimistic about things. If there is one thing I never am confident about, it's Manchester United winning a Manchester derby. It doesn't matter how good City are or where they are in the league - this game is always anyone's game and I've seen us lose against City at least once or twice long before they began throwing money around. Fingers crossed, though, we'll do the business...
:mad2: Well I still have faith.
I had a dream last night where after drawing 1-1 for most of the game, United scored in the last minute to win 2-1...I never remember dreams, let alone dreams like that. Granted we were playing away in my dream, but I'm sure it's still going to come true.
The result will depend upon whether Ferguson uses his defensive 4-5-1 from last week. Oh, and whether it's Premier League or Champions League City that turn up.
So like, I played the game on FIFA 12 this morning as Man City and was gonna post about it here, but it ended, and I tit you not, 6-1. I thought "Nah that's too unrealistic a score I should crank up the difficulty now". FIFA 12 is the most realistic football simulator of all time!
The tabloid press will hype this up as CITY TO WIN THE LEAGUE FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS but it's still a long season and the gap is just 5 points. Today might or might not be the start of a revobluetion, but what I do know is that it was prime comedy.
I am seriously offended. One, because we shipped a goal against the likes of Darren Fletcher, which is disgusting play. Must do better next time. Two, how dare you failures at life act like you're all that "I expect a draw" "oh we'll score a late goal to win" get the smurf out of my thread. Not fit to lace our boots, know your god damn place. You're alright when you're minnow bashing the little lads like Arsenal, but when you're up against a bit of class, well, you see the results. Back in your holes boys.
you can't diss BoB and Crop dude, they're probably City fans now that United aren't #1 anymore.
Worst ever defeat since the 50's. Bloody hell.
Evans stopped us from winning that match. Evra lost the match for us. I don't know what he was told to do in this game, but if SAF told him to be absent at left back, he did that pretty well. Seriously - check his positioning for every one of the last five goals. What happened to him? Our attacking wasn't actually all that bad and our possession in the first half was high. But in defence, we just suffered - and badly. I think we have okay centre backs, more than okay. But we need a defensive set of fullbacks because ever since we sold O'Shea, we've been tit in those positions. Smalling has been okay. Rafael and Fabio are incredibly injury-prone and while good against teams like Arsenal and to be honest, I'd expect them to hold their own against Barcelona, City and Chelsea on the odd occasion, okay. But not every game. We need a defensive, reliable set of fullbacks - tall ones, if possible. Never thought I'd say it a few years ago, but I think it's time we sold Evra. We need fullbacks, and the sooner the better.
City ripped us to shreds in the second half and they did it down the right flank.
And yeah, Evans, done it before and will do it again. We have Vidic, Rio, Smalling and Jones. Why is Evans playing when he's prone to this sort of thing? When he's last defender, I expect him to do something bad, and that's not a good thing. All the other players could have done better, but those two, argh.
Credit to City and credit to Mancini. He found our weakness and punished us completely. I'd be even more gutted about the game but I'm still on a bit of a high from the Rugby World Cup. =]
Ouch...that smarts. There's nothing I can even say, we just got drummed.
Still, early in the season and we'll see them again....but argh that was bad.
City are the plague of football and represent everything that is wrong with the sport. They outplayed us, certainly, but with an out of form 10 men United team chasing a game against the likes of superstars what do you expect. Jonny Evans - been saying it for years that he is truly not good enough at this level and we always concede goals when he is playing. Come the end of the year I'm still confident of finishing top.
EDIT: Also forgot to say, smurf Mancini. He was fistpumping & laughing at 6-1. Did you see Fergie doing similar when we were trashing Arsenal? Bit much now.
You do realise which football club made English football into the commercial money-focused for-profit venture that it is today, right? United have been doing this to the rest of us for 20 odd years, buying players with ridiculous money that nobody else has and inflating the prices so that teams have to pay £20-35m for average English players! If City, and indeed Chelsea are a plague, they are one that United created. I have no sympathy when someone beats you at your own game.
The basis of us having money in the first place is because we started winning things 20 years ago. What did City do? History clearly means a lot less nowadays.
We need more butthurt!
Does your money come from actually winning things, ie, prize money, or does it come from being a global marketing brand like McDonald's or Sony? Who were Man United before Man United? Liverpool! Were the Liverpool of the 1970's and 80's raking in hundreds of millions of pounds from being a global brand and using those millions to buy players at ridiculous sums? I honestly wish football was commercialised back then as we'd probably still be in control now, and not be the mid-to-upper table team that I know and love.
The English Premium: A 2011 Transfer Price Index Review | Pay As You Play here's a lovely article! It uses a transfer price index using inflation and whatnot. I don't really know the maths but it shows how relatively expensive a transfer is. What I do know is that the two most expensive English footballers are Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, who in today's money are worth £62m and £61m respectively. Next come Shearer and Wright-Phillips, and rounding off the top five is Michael Carrick at £41m. United have been doing this for years - hell, Andy Cole in 1995 is £33m today! (i wish we had bought that andy c instead of the one we have!) I imagine the foreign table will be topped by the likes of Veron and Van Nistelrooy too but I can't find it anywhere.
To me, finishing 3rd or 4th is all I hope for, perhaps a good cup run. The league? Ha ha, not on your life matey. What does it matter to me if the annual tonking is handed out to us by United, City or Chelsea? They're all teams that financially piss all over us and we have no hope of being able to compete with right now. If not in transfer fees, where we don't do terribly, then definitely in wages, which is also Arsenal's problem. Look how much money we've had to splurge on the likes of Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson just to keep up with sodding Spurs! I'm sure we could've bought someone better for that money, but underneath the surface could we afford their wages? I doubt it. And the funny thing is, we're supposed to be one of the richer clubs too, so I shudder to think how it is for the midtable and relegation teams. Other than Everton. Ha ha ha, smurf Everton! :D But yeah, you're all the same thing really, but at least City are somebody new.
I think it would be harsh to say it's unfair that City have money now. When you look at the Financial "Fair" Play rules coming in, we're still going to be able to spend more than any other club in Britain. Is that fair? Should we be the only ones entitled to spend x amount? I don't know the politics of it all (I suspect a massive chunk of the politics behind the ruling are based around two certain Spanish clubs, not British ones), but City have the right and they've taken that right and went with it. We have handled big spending clubs arising before and it will happen for all time. This is the way of things. Competitions without competition are pointless. It's up to us now to get six more points than City (and Chelsea etc) between now and the end of the season.
I hate that we lost. But I think that sometimes a big loss like that can lead to positive change, and I hope we see that. Starting with the procurement of natural fullbacks that know how to defend. Evra no longer does the latter (and in attack, to be honest, he's not the best - great for dribbles and one-twos but his assists are nowhere to be seen). Smalling is not a natural fullback and would have been better off in the position Evans was in. We need changes and for me, they need to be in the fullback positions above all else. We have amazing wingers, we out-possessed City before the sending off so our midfield should be okay (Cleverley, come back soon), our strike force is superb, we have enough central defenders to push Evans out (at least he can't play for three games now) and our keepers are good enough and will improve. Fullbacks. We need fullbacks.
It's not City's fault we lost, it's ours.
The A to Z of Mario Balotelli
I cannot fully express in words how much I love this man. Never change, Super Mario. :heart:Quote:
J is for Jenny Thompson. The prostitute linked to Wayne Rooney in the media. Balotelli reportedly saw her in a Manchester restaurant (See, Tevez – Manchester does have restaurants) and started chanting “ROONEY! ROONEY! ROONEY!” at the top of his voice.
What a lovely London accent that Manchester United fan has.
Mario Ballotelli is my favourite non-Liverpool footballer. He has a reputation for trouble but that's plain wrong. He is simply not known for sleazy boozed up nights out where he smurfs a prostitute or smashes someone's face in. He's just a delightful eccentric doing wacky stuff because he finds it fun. Love him.
tbh I've been meaning to rant about the rampant racism at NTFC for some time and you gave me an excuse to do so.
Oh and as for Luis, behave yourself. There has been absolutely no proof that he's a racist. But hey sure let's take the word of a diving whining sack of bollocks like Evra over, say, hours of TV footage from multiple camera angles. Why not.
The Manchester derby was the biggest game of the season so far, of course I'm going to sodding talk about it. Everybody is. Still, a quick search of "Cuchulainn" using the word "Liverpool" proves you can dish it out but you just can't take it. My personal favourite was when your entire day was made by a draw.
Stop trolling each other and focus on football, ya pair of WUM's. :p
Also, behave yourself. There is no more evidence that Evra is a sack of bollocks than there is evidence that Suarez is a racist.
No Ashley Cole just made a statement to the FA saying that he is so there. :colbert:
When Ashley Cole says something, it is evidence to the contrary. And you know it!
Holy tit, they must be pretty damn poor to have overtaken the Swans.
EDIT: SHOCKINGLY UNSURPRISING NEWS STORY OF THE WEEK: PFA disagrees with Tevez's fine of four weeks wages and halves it to two. Well, it was the equivalent of hoping UNISON would take it on the chin if the nation's dinner ladies were to get sacked.
Remember when Arsenal were trout? Those were the days, eh?
Before I forget:
http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/wp-co...10/RVPNazi.gif
Is that how the actual Nazi salute goes? I don't even know. But either way, to suggest he meant it as a genuine Nazi thing is quite funny from the media. Inevitable, but silly. They'll have to teach him a new way to salute the crowd sometime.
A guy from the Netherlands doing a Nazi salute. As some people have commented, they'll be saying Benayoun is doing one next.
Not to worry Psy, despite recent form our defence isn't exactly looking world-class!
There you are! I believe I owe you two months' worth of jibes and bluster about our glorious victory at the Emirates. I've had to make do with the United fans and it's just not the same.
And now, time for a rant on Luis Suarez.
smurf off Paul Scharner you talentless lump of crap. That was in no way a dive. You blocked him off and brought him down in the penalty area. Stop trying to ride the current anti-Suarez wave to mask your own inadequacies. (I am sure Mr. Scharner reads this thread) I think Luis has got better lately. No, really. I think Kenny's had a word. In the Stoke game he could've easily gone down and won a penalty when Woodgate went in on him, but he stayed on his feet and actually took a knock from that. When Scharner brought him down at the weekend, he didn't start screeching at the ref for a penalty but got back to his feet, ready to play again. The problem is that his reputation now proceeds him. Against Norwich he was denied a clear penalty, and now vs WBA we have some rather classless whining from the WBA playing and management staff. I don't expect sympathy for Luis Suarez here, or indeed anywhere, but as a Liverpool fan I am concerned that this cast iron belief that Suarez is a diver when he has seemingly changed his spots is not helpful.
ps: hope he dives to win a last minute penalty vs swansea at the weekend. :D
Your post reminds me of Kenny Dalglish saying "He's not a racist or a diver." I mean, if he said "He's not a racist" then the statement would at least have some credibility. :p I could point out that Nani changed his spots because he doesn't dive as often as he used to but he's still a diver and everyone knows it. You can't say Nani has changed his spots. You can say he doesn't dive as often as he used to. Two different things! Suarez is no more or less a diver than Nani is, and has not changed his ways for the better any more than Nani has. Not diving a few times just to dive later on? Diver! Runs at incredible speed and jumps over sliding two footed tackles? Diver! Footballer? Diver! :D
COURSE it is not the 'Nazi' Salute he's doing (even though the German's borrowed it off Italian Fascists who stole it off a BELIEVED greeting from Ancient Rome so really it's not actually a Nazi Salute anyway so eveeryone needs to chill), however it's eternal fun to say it is to annoy Arsenal fans & Dutch people......and Nazis.
Pauw's thread in GC about steve and pigs and donkeys and all that has made me think about our footballing heroes who are or can be named after animals. I think we should all endevour to try and put together a team of players with their animal nicknames, it will be a true world beater. We can even argue about formations and subs and all of that good stuff! Let me start off with a few I can think of.
Obvious choice #1:
http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/bi...-944129705.jpg
THE WHALE a.k.a Emile Heskey
#2:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jWNU8uRzIN..._bmp-550x0.jpg
The Goat a.k.a Shaun Goater. Feed the goat, he will score!
#3:
http://static.givemefootball.com/gmf...6560000000.jpg
The Donkey a.k.a Martin Keown. Could also be Tony Adams.
And so on. So far with already have an invincible front pair of Heskey and Goater, and a defender in Keown. Full backs and a midfield would be nice. Get to thinking, let's create our glorious Animal Kingdom FC.
edit: I should point out they don't have to be existing nicknames to qualify. Anyone you can think of who fits an animal nickname works as well, like THE WHALE for Heskey.
Well, that was the best goalless draw I've seen in a long time. Nathan Dyer is a smurfing football wizard, I can't see us keeping him after this season. Michel Vorm once again proved he's single handedly keeping us in the division. Frantic stuff in the last five minutes, but Sian Massey gets troll of the match for disallowing that goal right in front of the Liverpool fans. Haha, that was glorious.
Will Psychotic disappear until next week? WILL HE?
Was indeed a good game. I demand Michael Vorm be dissected to prove that he is a machine or a demon or something because he is not human. The LFC players were just a pile of scrote today. Did not give any kind of a smurf. And even Luis fell off the wagon by the end of the game. We're going to come 7th!
Also yes I am going to quit the thread until the Jan transfer window now. I can't believe we lost to both Swansea and United in recent weeks. :( I think I used up all my football thread gloating points on the Arsenal game.
Well that's Ireland qualified for Euro 2012 then.
But did they wear poppies though? They are undoubtedly criminal filth and the lowest form of life if they didn't. The Daily Mail and the Sun both say so, and when have those high quality newspaper establishments ever been wrong?
England unofficial world champions! It was the poppies wot won it.
Awful news about Gary Speed :(
Truly a sad day for football. Gary Speed was one of those players who had been around forever, no fanfare or anything, just quietly and efficiently getting on with his job. A real shame. :(
In less serious news, god damnit! Why is it that every single game at Anfield the opposition keeper has pulled a smurfing ridiculous blinder of a game? De Gea, Ruddy, Vorm and now Hart. IT IS NOT ON :colbert: I could have total domination of the football thread if it wasn't for this! :argh: Lucas is some smurfing player though, I tell you. And I can't complain too much about giving City the biggest domestic battering they've had this season, 'cause even if we didn't win we were still all over them. Also fao: Super Mario: NEVER CHANGE. Such a psychopath, I love him. Why always him?
:(
Really put a downer on today's game, especially as the news came out literally around half an hour before kick off. It really hit home with the people of Wales, especially as we're so optimistic about the future what with the national team finally getting into some kind of threatening form (I've surely posted about it a few times). It really is gutting. I remember watching him play for Wales/Leeds when I was growing up and the pride that the nation had in him was phenomenal. Top marks to the Swans fans for turning the minute's silence into a spontaneous minute's applause and chorus of 'There's only one Gary Speed', his value to fans of football in south Wales was worth more than most. I don't even really want to watch MoTD today.
:(
EDIT: Also maximum respect to Shay Given, he played on despite clearly being so distressed before kickoff that he had to take a minute on the sidelines. All while scumbags like Carlos Tevez won't get off the bench for 250 grand a week.
He had just been on Football Focus too and seemed totally normal, to think what was going on in his head :(
I was in total shock when my friend told me this morning, seemed such a nice guy and Wales were doing so well under him. I'm totally gutted.
In other news, thank you for holding City to a draw. It'll mean a lot when we lift that 20th title.
You're welcome. It's a good thing you closed the gap by managing to win your game against Newc...oh. Oh.
ALRIGHT, WHO'S GETTING EXCITED TO WATCH POLAND V GREECE?!?!?!? actually the worst opening game ever.
England didn't do too badly but I don't know if they'll make it out of the group. I know I'd rather be in a group with USA, Algeria and Slovenia than with Sweden, France and the hosts Ukraine, and we all know how easy it was to qualify from the first group...
Group A is poor, Group B is evil.
And Poland v Greece may be bad, but at least we don't have Ireland v Greece.
England tend to fail miserably when they look anything but doomed from the start, so maybe with this slightly intermediate difficulty group...hmm.
After a lot of thought, I reckon that England will go out in the quarter final on penalties.
We will DEFINATELY progress. Italy, EASY, Spain EASY, Croatia, WHO??
Cuchulainn's been possessed by the spirit of The Sun!
Is there an Irish version of the Sun?
Who are you supporting anyway, in the aftermath of a shock qualifying disaster for Cyprus? I assume not Greece! And what about you BoB? If you say Spain so help me god... :argh: (don't mention me supporting them in 2008. It was before Fernando got fat and cheated on me)
I always like Italy and Germany in international tournaments, but I have no strong preferences. I just want to see some good games.
Man City v Man Utd in the FA Cup - ouch.
We got Leeds again?! Argh
hey daniel towns, crop and cuchulainn i got a little song for you i think you may already know the words
man utd vs liverpool thursday nighs chaneal 5 - YouTube
STEVE BRUCE FOR UNITED MANAGER also god damn that kit of ours was atrocious
To quote my Facebook update...
Sucks being degraded to the level of Liverpool. Meet you guys in the Europa final? Or City. Or Stoke!Quote:
Urgh, think I'd rather we'd just have gone out of Europe altogether. Don't like the idea of being part of the second string of European sides. Just a way for our players to get injured trying to win a cup that says "We're the best of the clubs that aren't in the top 16!" Sort of like thinking about Manchester United winning the Championship, really. But maybe that's just me!
What are you talking about? Liverpool aren't good enough to be in the Europa League!
ps: we won it 3 times. how many have you won it? :smug:
I don't even know, but I can only imagine we haven't won it 19 times yet.
Am I doing this right?
The list of group winners in the European Cup:
Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Benfica, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter . . . and Apoel Nicosia!
your 19 times jibes are irrelevant to me because i support fc basle, fc barcelona and manchester city!
Bloody glory oh wait they didn't go through either. =|
My favourite line from the BBC updater tonight is definitely this, which maybe even Dan might manage at least a slight chuckle at.
Quote:
Claud, A Happy Gooner via text: "Didnt Samir Nasri leave Arsenal to play European football at a higher level?"
Fair play to Napoli really, can't complain too much about the way things turned out at the end of the day. Worst group to be in, we could have done better but we finished up with 10 points which isn't a bad result. Nice introduction to CL football for the team and hopefully we don't drop off horrifically after christmas and end up back next year, we'll be better off for it. Especially if we get a kinder draw in the group stages. Mind you we could just pull a United and get knocked out by a bunch of sunday league teams from lichtenstein or something anyway so who knows :shobon:
edit: I don't know why anyone would be surprised at us failing in Europe considering our transfer policy for the last two-three years has been "BUY ARSENAL'S ENTIRE SQUAD!!!" the only reason Arsenal went through to the knockout stages is because they aren't Arsenal anymore thanks to us. :colbert:
still a bunch of **** ****'s though :aimkiss:
Poor little Nasri sitting on his pile of squillions, top of the Premier League and perhaps more importantly, in the last four of the Carling Cup. Arsenal being England's best team in Europe is kind of weeeeeeeeeeeird though. I suppose the natural order of things will be restored when City sign Van Persie in January.
Honestly would not be surprised now that Tevez is on the wander. Not sure if they could afford it though while remaining within FFP, although to be honest City should be safe until UEFA have the balls to put the boot to Barca and Real who are surely the biggest spenders even now.
Even though it's blatantly inevitable, I would prefer if you didn't bring up the fact that Van Persie is going to be playing for City next month. I have got like 5 weeks left to enjoy my team without him in it, and I want to savour it while I can. :(
edit: it's been on the cards ever since the whole Tevez thing flared up. Wasn't surprising to me at all that Van Persie came out like 2 weeks later or something going on about how there is no need for him to sign a new contract at Arsenal, because he ain't staying at Arsenal. Soon as we smurf Tevez off to Milan/Brazil/wherever, that money is going straight on Van Rapist.
WHY CAN'T WE BUY SOME REPLACEMENTS FOR LESCOTT AND TOURE INSTEAD OH GOD :(
You'll get Van Persie in August and not a moment before! ;)
Vermaelen is actually a pretty good CB, as well as having the bonus of being Kompany's Belgian partner at the back. Alternatively, you could take a punt on Koscielny, who is probably the second best. Stay clear of Djourou, Mertesacker and Squillaci though!
Mertesacker is a good player (you don't get 80 caps or so for Germany by being crap), the idea of lumping him in with Squillaci is very amusing.
Christ. :(
Still, it could be worse.
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/...arroll-007.jpg
uhhhhh we're not your feeder club so hands off big Andy. He's going to Chelsea and nowhere else :colbert: Except possibly Doncaster Rovers or Brighton and Hove Albion.
Also Gerd Muller has 60+ Germany caps but I would say that right now Squillaci is a better footballer than he is. Gerd's still better than Diaby, mind.
I still have not forgiven you or Dalglish for that bag of tit Fulham game. Especially Kenny.

Oh man, Europa League? How embarrassing, we're with the common folk now. I'd rather be out of Europe completely.
As a Man Utd fan, we didn't deserve to get out of that group. I actually thought City were quite unlucky not to go through... ten points is generally what you aim for to qualify.
I just hope we've sorted ourselves out by the time we visit the Etihad in January. We should chuck in a bid for Schneider in January... at least he won't be cup-tied for the mighty Europa League!
Look to Liverpool for inspiration and raid Newcastle! Sign Tiote and Cabaye and you'll be all set to be better than Spurs again! I don't know who it'll take for us to attain such a lofty perch though. Probably two new wingers (Ben Arfa and Marveaux). Oh and a striker who can score goals (Demba Ba). And a DM now that Lucas is crippled for life (On second thoughts, we'll take Tiote) At least we have the left-back position sorted - thanks, Newcastle! :jess:

MICHEL VORM, MY LORD, MICHEL VORM
EDIT: Rangel is doing in that picture exactly what I would be doing if I was near Vorm right now. Pulling the same face and everything. Vorm shrugs me off, as he is above the clamour of mere mortals.
Vorm is indeed a hax bastard and I love him for being my FF team's GK all season. Incidentally I made a couple of transfers, only to be told I had bought too many Swansea players. Go figure. :shobon: Now Vorm is the only one again 'cause it messed up my delicate points balance, but I wanted Dyer, Williams and Sinclair. I didn't even think "Hey, these are all Swansea players" I just thought "Hey, these are all good players".
Oh, and given that Petr Cech is overrated and nowhere near the player he once was, your boy Michel will be at Chelsea this time next year. Merry Christmas :)
:onoes:
EDIT: Something I found on /r/soccer (smurf you) and I thought was funny

I don't care about this anymore! It was sooooooooo last week! :roll2
Still, joking aside, for a competition that's meant to be a bag of bollocks contested between the likes of FC Groznyj Grad, Sporting Chernobyl and Stoke City, the English teams aren't exactly facing a bunch of minnows in Ajax, Porto and Valencia are they?
UEFA conspiracy! They want all the English teams out! *puts on tinfoil hat*
To be honest, looking at our injuries at the minute... I can't see Man Utd getting past Ajax. I know Ajax are not having the best season and are a little off the pace in their league... but I reckon they'd be well up for the scalp.
Tempting fate by keeping Demba Ba as my fantasy captain this weekend.
It's one thing to say "I can see us losing against Ajax" but to say "I can't see Man Utd getting past Ajax" is another thing. That's saying you can't see how we could win. Surely you watch football enough to know that a lesser team can always win, let alone a team that is only a couple of points off the pace in the Premier League. Have a little faith!
It worked. Howay the Swans
All I'm basing my opinion on is both clubs current position. Ajax are currently in 4th place and 8 points off the pace. Due to their prestigious history in European football I think they'll have an added incentive to win this tie. Utd on the other hand are feeling slightly embarrassed about performing in this competition. Plus, when you have injuries like we have then you struggle to compete in multiple competitions. Vidic, Rafael, Fabio, Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley, Berbatov, Hernandez and Owen all out injured... people may call me a pessimist but I see myself more of a realist...
Ajax will want to remain in Europe and won't give up on that title this early on either. They are better than that.
"Vidic, Rafael, Fabio, Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley, Berbatov, Hernandez and Owen all out injured"
Of those, all could be back outside of Vidic and Fletcher by the time we play in Europa League.
What a smurfing match, that was crazy. So happy, only wish we could have scored a couple more (and we should have, some poor final touches by Nasri and some chances missed). Still, that was awesome, really good. Loved it.
Dave Silva <3 Sergio Aguero <3 Super Mario <3 Joe Hart <3
First Lucas, now this. That was a nice season folks, see you in 2012-2013 when it will surely be Our Year. Unless of course Big Andy Carroll can step up to the plate. ...:crying2:
Actually seriously, the team is set up around Suarez, and it utilises intelligent players like Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy with amazing movement to help him out, which is why the traditional English players like Carroll and Downing haven't done well. Might be interesting to see if losing Luis helps Carroll flourish. ...:crying2:
e: damn, http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/lates...fc-statement-8 the club are smurfing sticking it to the FA.
Now watch English Lion John Terry get away scot free.
Suarez is the perfect person to throw the book at really, panto villain who has made a lot of enemies. As Psy says, don't expect John Terry to suffer a similarly harsh punishment.
DK said I could contribute a lot of good things to this thread, so I'm going to try my best.
Once I was hit in the groin/vulva by a soccer ball when we were playing in high school. But I made the block.
That kind of lionhearted willingness to sacrifice oneself for the good of the team is exactly what our country looks for in a captain. Will you be the captain of the England team Megan? Please? John Terry is trout and an asshole.
How much does it pay?
Oh hell, i already know I'm gonna say yes.
Well even though as already mentioned he is tit and an asshole the current captain is on $235,062.08 per week according to current exchange rates. You would be worth at least that much. More because you are not trout or an asshole. And you don't play for Chelsea which is even better.
Terry too will get an 8 game ban, sure as the Swans will drop points at home to QPR on Monday. They have to be seen to be consistent, *~TRUE LION~* or not. Anton Ferdinand still isn't black though.
Don't even know what Terry is accused of calling Anton, but Terry is Terry is Terry. Was it Craig Bellamy? I think it was him that once described Terry pretty well in a TV interview or something. :p
Suarez banned, Terry facing charges, well at least now if Arsenal mess up tonight (and if we do we may as well give up on the top four, Villa are that bad) nobody in the press will notice much tomorrow.

Liverpool FC @ KKKlanfield
Ok seriously - the treatment of Steve Kean is the worst I've seen a manager receive in the league. I actually think Blackburn have been very unlucky this season in the way games & decisions have gone.
Half way through the season, the EPL is shaping up to have a great climax to the end of the season. I still think United will win the league, but City are obviously a huge force. I dunno though, I don't get the same fear factor off them as I did when Mourinho was in Charge at Chelsea, or when Arsenal last won the league.
Just found this. For all the Emile Heskey fans out there.
I don't think Kean has had the support he really needed from the board. He's obviously inexperienced but doing the best with the resources he has and I think the bile should be aimed more at Venky's than Kean.
Also you are an awful human being Donal. Emile Heskey is one of the greatest footballers of our generation :colbert: Me and Dan used to swap him and David James around on PES when we played online as England, and let me tell you Emile Heskey is one of the best goalkeepers I have ever seen, no foolin'. Definitely a better choice than Rob Green, although that is not saying much. I once actually managed to beat a pair of guys playing as Spain in a penalty shootout with Emile in goal. Will not hear a bad word said against the man.
I've lost respect for you Donal, the Whale is the greatest footballing hero of our generation. :colbert: In 50 years time they will be talking about him in the same breath as the likes of Pele, Maradona and Cruyff. Also yes he is a fantastic goalkeeper. And fantastic human being. And just the best at everything ever. :doublecolbert:
Ahaha the video only amplifies the magnificence of great man himself. Legendary stuff.
What can I say Psy, it seems that Anfield just has that certain aura that makes even second-choice opposition goalkeepers play total blinders.
That and the woodwork has some weird magnetic power to it that only works on leather. Or whatever the smurf hybrid carbonplastic that footballs are made of these days.
Oh god...
This is a night where I definitely want to watch MotD just to see what the hell occurred at Old Trafford, but it has to be New Years Eve. I'll just have to hope they have it on in the pub or something.
In other news, glory glory Brad Friedel  No but seriously, we dominated that game and should have taken three points in all honesty. I'll settle for a point though (there're no spurs fans on EoFF are there?).
EDIT: struggling to decide whether 'there're' is a word
I have to say, as a long term Spurs fan that we've been playing so damn well this season and after today well Chelsea and Arsenal haven't got a chance. What's worse is the fact that with Arsenal you can actually smell Wenger's desperation in the fact that he has re-signed Thierry Henri who to be blunt hasn't been scoring great over in the American leagues and the yanks are nowhere compared to the brits in skill.
As for Man United today, oh dear that ruined the new year what with Six in the city (Man City mauling) and now this?
Don-Won Ji!! Best smash & grab I've ever seen - I was jumping around the kitchen when it happened! Incredible!
Martin Tyler's commentary for Sunderland's goal had my family in hysterics.
Had been following the game on BBC's live updates, but decided to turn on Sky for the final few minutes. Needless to say, I'm glad I did! I was urging the players forward and it showed just how hard Sunderland had worked when I saw a midfielder running towards the City goal just to stop, put his hands on his knees and catch his breath. Lucky for him that Ji had it all covered. But yeah, so thankful that we're still level on points.
Just settling down for the Fulham v Arsenal game. Football has improved for me in the last 24 hours after the City result! Come on the reds at the Etihad next weekend!
Even if we go on to lose this game (25 mins in or so now), I will be far, far less bothered about losing than I am about the fact that we've lost Kompany for 3 games through one of the straight up worst red cards I've ever seen in my life. Referee is a disgrace, Wayne is a disgrace for running over screaming at the referee until he gave a card for what was basically, a sick tackle. It says all that needs to be said when someone slides in on Nani, wins the ball and Nani just stays on his feet and plays on. xD Red card my arse. Joke decision, if that doesn't get turned over on appeal the FA can go smurf themselves.
edit: FOUR games because it's a second red of the season? well, enjoy the title united :smash: congratulations on paying off the ref successfully :aimkiss:
Thierry Henry and Paul Scholes? Clearly it is time Kenny brought back a player better than both of them combined. I speak of none other thanIgor BiscanIan Rush.

Is also a fantastic kisser.
Looks like poor old cyclist Chris Hoy is going to get more mistaken identity abuse again.
Both feet left the ground. I admit it was a bit harsh but you always run the risk when you tackle like that. A yellow would have been fair. I agree the ref has favoured us quite a bit. How Giggs wasn't booked I've no idea. Definite penalty though.
EDIT: A bit of an over-reaction, DK. Conceding the title? You've lost your best centre-half for 2 league games. We're without our best centre-half for the whole season. You're three points clear. Calm down, mate!
OK this is getting pretty fun now
haha I'm not seriously giving up the title bubba, just jokingly venting frustration. one of those if you don't laugh you'll cry situations etc etc.
also, we did it to spurs. we can do it to united. 4-3 let's go
why are none of you talking about ian rush?
Because you focused on all the wrong things in your post. How could you not mention his moustache? plastic fan, glory hunter, worst person etc etc
Look at the hat though :( Say something about the hat!
Well, seeing as we're in the spirit of it...
http://img.skysports.com/09/10/218x2...ty_2372041.jpg
We need a smurfing striker who doesn't always fall over after punting it straight at the keeper!
I'm going to eschew my usual rants about how terrible Everton are and just say that the last match I went to was the Bolton game and I saw Tim Howard score. The crowd chanted 'USA' and I was party to that chanting.
Also, is it just me or does Ian Rush in this picture:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...s/ian-rush.jpg
Look rather like the third Chuckle Brother?
Oh God.
Jesus tap-dancing Christ I am a mental wreck. I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown through those last five minutes (a silent one, because my throat pretty much surrendered itself after Graham's goal). I can't believe it, after all my years watching the Swans lose at home to Peterborough, we just beat Arsenal 3-2 and are in the top half of the Premier League. It may be the Hobgoblin but I feel pretty emotional right now.
I've never felt so happy for a bunch of Welshmen in my life. Awesome.
I like to think my forced support of Brendan eased the Swans over the line. :D
Not to be a patronising big club dick, it's a smurfing awesome fairytale story isn't it? Norwich too actually. Football. It's good sometimes, isn't it?
Just seen the stats this morning that Swansea have got the sixth best 'passing success rate' in Europe! Just behind teams like Bayern, Man City and Real Madrid.
I think it was something like 85.7%. Level with AC Milan.
That is awesome.
Yeah I saw that haha.
Also is it time we asked mr. charliepanayi why he did not include Spurs on the poll for this thread? :greenie: (And did include Liverpool. I mean come on man!)
And why he didn't include Ever-
I'm slightly surprised at how well Spurs have done this season - I would've thought 4th would be what they'd be hoping for.
My favourite bit of recent football news is the latest story about Mario Balotelli. Apparently today he went to the John Rylands Library in Manchester and asked library staff if he could pay all the overdue book fines currently owed by students. Unfortunately for students in Manchester, they politely declined his offer.
Dear Student
Please be advised that your outstanding overdue fines for the publication Godel, Escher, Bach (taken out 18/03/09) have been returned to £0 following a charitable payment by a Mr M. Balotelli. He requested we pass on his best wishes and states that his reasoning is "Because I am rich".
You don't deserve it though, you manure supporting bastard.
Sincerely
Information Services
Craig Bellamy is the most intelligent footballer I think I have ever seen. His movement and positioning are without compare. He's like a god damn fine wine, getting better with age. I love our little neckless Welshman.
I swear, it's games like these that seal my love of the FA Cup.
So happy for Kuyt to finally get off the duck, happy Carroll contributed but I wanted to single out Martin Kelly in this game. He would be a week in, week out starter on just about any other club and so far has been getting just the scraps. However, watching him today reminded me how good he can be. Physical, tough, smart and for the most part, clean (All defenders do some dirty stuff). Great win.
Now if we could only just play like this against the bottom half of the table....
Take care all.
Bit of a bad game! Still, based on today, Andy Carroll at £35m is better value for money than £19m David de Gea! I can't believe we finallly had an opposition keeper come to Anfield and not be immense. Even Mark Bunn had a blinder. Who the hell is Mark Bunn for smurf's sake! It's a strange feeling but I like it :D Also yeah Martin Kelly is a highly underrated player and I think he should start more often.
This has been an enjoyable week in what has been a relatively poor season. :)
Another day, another incident of racial abuse at Klanfield
http://therepublikofmancunia.com/wp-...ey-gesture.jpg
A bit gutted we couldn't come away with at least a draw against Liverpool on Saturday... especially after we dominated possession for most of the match. Fair play to them though for taking their chances (dodgy keeping aside). Not sure why Scholes was withdrawn, it meant Liverpool could push forward in the last 20 minutes and get the winner.
I really can't understand why Evra was booed throughout the entire match though... He gets racially abused by scumbag like Suarez then gets booed for it? The Liverpool team didn't help themselves by wearing those T-Shirts in support of Suarez. I understand they were just getting behind their team mate but considering what he had done... it just tarred them all with the same brush.
The booing of an opposition player is always going to happen, especially with a rivalry as fierce as this one. However, most intelligent people would realise how this is going to come across.
Old Manus' picture above is definitely unsettling. I know this is only one piece of trout scum in the Liverpool end but I guarantee there was a lot more of that going on. I'd like to think the majority of Liverpool fans don't hold views like this but on Saturdays evidence... maybe I'm wrong. I'm aware that racism is an issue for just about every club in English football... there's always a very small contingent who discriminate. However, if I had any association with Liverpool Football Club I would be deeply concerned about the level of discrimination portrayed by fans and players.
As a Man Utd fan, we have just as many issues as the next club. But scousers seem to operate on an entirely different level. Would rather be a filthy Manc than a racist scum scouser any day of the week.
That picture is indeed unsettling. Kids there are treated seeing grown men spew hatred & racist abuse and will feel encouraged to do the same, because you know, he's a Man U player. If the roles were reversed I'm sure you would have members of the United fans doing the same. It's a sad fact.
It was bizarre a while back when they wore the t-shirts of support for Suarez. To me it sent a horrible message. 'We will defend our player even though he is yet to be sanctioned for racist abuse'. What got me is that Dalglish didn't have a clue whether or not Suarez was guilty or not, yet he adamently supported him. If I was in his stance I would wait and see what the outcome was before publicly defending him. When the evidence was released it was really awkward hearing him speak afterwards saying there should be guidelines for what should be acceptible to say on the pitch, & that people were taking up the support in the wrong context.
As for the game, it was a tough loss, but that's the way football can go. We played really well I thought, but still came away with a loss. Another day we'd play horribly & win.
evra has one old bloke act like a monkey at him and gets booed; EoFF outraged.
anton ferdinand gets sent death threats including a bullet; EoFF does not care.
ho hum.
And I don't think the liverpool end were the ones singing offensive songs about koreans and their dietary preferences but I could be wrong. :greenie:
(SPOILER)Racism in all forms is abhorrent, the monkey guy is vermin and I'm glad he's going to be banned. The fans who booed Evra are twats. I am finding it very hard to support my football club right now, especially when it was stuff like this (albeit worse) that soured me from supporting my hometown team. But seriously now, the perpetrators of the acts at Liverpool have been punished, either via a suspension or in the case of fans, being banned for life. I get the feeling this has now boiled down to football tribalism. When you apply double standards to Liverpool and use it as a chance to take shots at a rival team, it's only fuelling it and making it worse.
When I saw the picture Old Manus posted I hadn't read the post and just saw the picture at a glance, and immediately assumed it was like, a picture of a Swansea game on TV that he'd gone to and been caught on camera in the crowd and I was looking for a welsh guy that looked like Bez from the Happy Mondays, and it took me a while to realise what was actually going on. I kind of thought he was the gimpy looking dude with the fur hood on but something didn't seem quite right. And now I know why. :shobon:
Monkey guy was actually Welsh, so it may well have been our boy Manus!
Making monkey noises isn't my style. I just go to the game in blackface.
The topic at hand Evra & Liverpool. AF's case is worse definitely. Its also a real head-scratcher. How you can be racially abused, then get sent death threats while doing nothing in the first place is beyond me. I'm sure he will get boo'ed when he eventually goes to stamford bridge. Wayne Bridge was the same. Craig Bellamy said it best when he described JT in otherwords as a class A prick. Whats worse is this guy is mean't to the the countries captain. wtf is he going to say to the likes of Rio for instance when he partners him in defence?
As for the chants - it goes on everywhere, just like racism. There is just scumbags in every corner of the planet.
Look, cuch, I don't think you know how our relationship works. The whole point is that I say something about Man United or Ireland being tit and then you fly off the handle at me. I just don't think it's going to work the other way around. I'm willing to give it a go and start ranting and raving like only a 30 something man who posts on a FF forum can, but I really don't think we'll be able to capture the same chemistry that we've got going on now.
yes sir I see your signature is very accurate. You are quite clearly pushing the boundaries with your edgy KKK jokes. You english :bou::bou::bou::bou: i want to make you eat sausage sandwichs you wee smurf :bou::bou::bou::bou: poo.
SucKKK my CocKKK
Btw: I've never once been pissed off by a single solitary thing you've ever said. So if you're mission is to troll me, you're doing it wrong kid.
Alright boys, back to following the rules of the forums now before I'm obligated to make a serious warning for things like surrounding english BOU's and cock suckage. This thread isn't exempt.
someday either the united states is going to have to rename football something else or everywhere else will have to rename football soccer.
Sort of like how after many years, the residents of Germany and Japan gave up and stopped calling them Deutschland / Nippon, right?
The yanks have already taken the Wikipedia page for football and are insisting it be called 'Association football' because that's what it says in some 200 year old manuscript, ignoring the fact that everyone else in the world simply calls it 'football'.
Bravo English media you've done it again. One of the best managers in the world has been ousted and we're going to get a lump faced barrow boy for our manager. A rousing success.
I hope Rafael Benitez applies. No, just listen! His strength was knock out cup competitions and getting the most out of god awful tactically inept players (Djimi Traore has a Champions League winner's medal) which is ideal for England. Meanwhile his weakness was spunking transfer fees on crappy players and being abysmal in the league. It's all good!
And they've caused me to agree with something you say - the swines! The press can congratulate themselves on hounding out yet another manager - we can look forward to smugness all roundfrom them until the next tournament flop. But what matters of course is that the manager is ENGLISH, eh.
I wonder if the media would tolerate Mourinho as England manager. He'd be the only one who they'd even remotely consider. Please. Oh god. :(
When was the last time an English manager won the top league in the country? Or any high rated country for that matter? I have no idea what this fascination with having an English Manager running England, especially when they're all mediocre. Hell going by the premier league winners we want a Scot in charge. Who's free?

Say whatever the smurf you want, I'd take him over 'Arry. :colbert: Can you imagine what's going to happen at the Euro's if he's in charge?
"Ah Meester Redknapp, England eh, I am fan, you know, telewision show, del boy, rodney yes? ha, ha!"
"no no fack off i'm not a wheeler dealer i'm not a trotter fack off"
he is a disgrace god damn it. you know what smurf it BIG SAM FOR ENGLAND

He was capable of winning the league you know.
O'Neill is good but is just starting at Sunderland now, and would probably have been too sensible to take the job anyway.
Last English manager to win the title over here was Howard Wilkinson in 1992.
On a serious note, Stuart Pearce. I know what your initial reaction will probably be but hear me out:
- He's been the U21 manager for years now. Taken the team to the semis and the finals of the last two U21 International comps, so he will know the international format better than any other English manager out there at the moment and has some kind of track record at least.
- Following on from that, it's pretty widely accepted that the England team is full of crinkly old decrepit useless farts who need to get the boot. Who else knows the next breed better than Pearce? Will be able to blood the young guys in much better than anyone else out there.
- As I said is English, and more importantly was an iconic England player. At the very least the media would probably swing on his nuts until the tournament is done.
- If anyone is going to be able to deal with big ego having football ponces as well as or better than Capello it's going to be Pearce. His nickname is Psycho for smurfs sake. Who is going to intimidate him? Would slap fat Wayne in his face and then backhand his grandma for a laugh probably.
Rather Psycho than most the other turds out there, imho.
Stuart Pearce is the logical choice but he's running the Olympic team. Bet he feels like the kid who spent all his money on Pokemon cards only to find that Pogs were back in fashion the next day. It's Harry faahkiin Redknapp time!
All together now!
Stick a pony in me pocket - *shot*
I'm gutted Capello has gone, I thought he was a great manager.
I honestly don't know why everyone is raving for an English manager too, they're all crap. I thought that was the reason that after the awful performance from Mclaren we got in a Johnny Foreigner....who did a great job too. No one seems to mention the fact that the last English manager was so crap either.
I just hope whoever the next manager is continues to do what Fabio was starting to do and get out all those old farts who keep hooking up with prostitutes and each others wives and bring in some of the young guys (who are looking pretty decent).
I just hope to god it isn't Redknapp, bring on Stuart Pearce any day.
Could always bring back Sven, he at least got you lot through to the knockout stages every time, didn't he? I forget.
Pearce or Redknapp would do the job well enough, I reckon. Redknapp would for me be the best bet, if only because he's all buddy-buddy with so much of the media that he'll be better suited to handle the English press, which for me seems to be the primary job of the England manager.
