Microsoft rushed a console to crush competition, and microsoft is in my very own personal opinion a horrible company, but those two things arent necessarily connected.
Oh, there's no denying that some of them will break no matter how well they're taken care of. But that brings the number to a much lower percentage, although it's probably still higher than should be acceptable with hardware. Point being, if you put 100% of the Xbox 360s in an enclosed space and run them a lot, most of them are probably going to fail. If you put 100% of Xbox 360s in a well-ventilated area and treat them like a person with some intelligence, not nearly that many will malfunction.
