It seems logical to me that far fewer than 100% of the consoles will fail in a well-ventilated area because of the millions of 360s sold, they haven't all smurfing broken. I didn't say "only 5% will break in a well ventilated area," I just said that not nearly as many will malfunction. I just don't personally consider it "defective" because overheating can make its insides go to , because that can happen with a variety of other electronic devices. Maybe it's poorly built, but I think that's a different statement, and that the title of the article is not a good representation of what Microsoft said.
