Is the answer related to Sorceresses in any fashion?
Ifrit and Shiva, who was already owned by Squall.
No and no, the answer is not related to the sorceress in any fashion.
Headmaster Cid ?
Cid has a red coat.... :/
the red one
This could refer to anger, someone wearing red. Or an enemy.
looking for the blue one
This could refer to sadness, someone wearing blue. Or an allie.
taken by the black one
This could refer to Squall, or someone who wears black.
Overall, this could relate to Galbadia Garden (red) searching for Balamb Garden (blue), B. Garden is now commanded by Squall (black.
Biggs or Wedge (forget which is red)?
I remember them being Red & Blue though.
No and no. Shinwa Tsuki is on the right track, though.
Black is very likely Squall, Red and Blue however are likely symbolic of something...... . Hm...
Adel looking for Ellone and taken back by Squall ?
Not sure if that's the answer mister maybee, it seems that the answer has nothing to do with sorceresses.
Nice try, maybee, but Shinwa is correct - has nothing to do with the sorceresses.
Hm...
Does the red refer to Julia?
Shorty?
It certainly does, yes.
Nice, creative guesses! They are wrong, though.
Ah! I'm sorry, that was more a refresher then a guess. I'll go adjust my previous post.
I'm guessing that Julia (red) is looking for Laguna (blue) and is taken by Fury Caraway (black).
Correct!
Wo~w! That was interesting.
Free floor.
after all that? xD
I can't think of anything, that's way it's a free floor.
Maybe after three days, and nobody makes a riddle I might create one. Just not right now.
That was a great riddle Shorty, nicely done. I'm going to snatch up this open floor, give me a moment...
Where the sun shines the brightest
And the lines have gone silent
There I sit, peacefully
Calm like a gentle stream
Let's try that one for now. Shouldn't be too hard!
Thanks, Jiro, for taking the floor.
Hm... . Nothing comes to mind, at the moment, for your riddle Jiro.
Not Mayor Dobe, no. You're thinking on the right track. The last line will provide the biggest clue from here.
Hm... could 'calm like a gentle stream' refer to either the water of a lake or tranquility of emotions.
It could, couldn't it :jess: Focus on that water there, team.
Lake Obel's ghost thingy? The one that gives you the sidequest?
Where the sun shines the brightest
It could be somewhere in the wide open, or it could be related to something a character says.
And the lines have gone silent
The 'lines' could refer to communication lines which have 'gone silent'. This could refer to fishing lines as well, no clue how 'gone silent' relates to that.
There I sit, peacefully
The answer is sitting somewhere peacefully, maybe near a water fountain.
Calm like a gentle stream
The answer is linked to water in some way, and is very likely calm.
All in all, I think the answer might relate to the former Galbadia Garden headmaster (I forget his name) who is, by the end of the game, sitting near Mayor Dobe's house in FH.
Oh man Shinwa Tsuki you are so close to being on the right track that I can't prompt you without making it obvious. The guesses are incorrect but please keep trying, almost there!
Something about it makes me think of the White SeeDs... .
Not the White SeeDs, you're getting colder now!
Somewhere in FH?
Yes indeed. FH is the location referenced.
It's neither of those, btw. But keep guessing!
Master Fisherman!
Not so, I'm afraid.
Flo, the Mayor's wife.
~YES!~
Stuck in a box
Beautiful women in every form
I smurfing hate Final Fantasy 8
Goddamn I wish I had some alcohol to pass the time
What about you, baby?
Uh... Shiva?
Nope.
I have to ask what the third line means to the riddle, Miss Boobs.
It's just a connector for line 4.
So, line three has no real importance?
I'm guessing the drunkard in the Timbar pub that you can order a drink for.
Nope.
Siren ?
Nope.
Could you repost the riddle (new page) give us a hint?
Stuck in a box
Beautiful women in every form
I smurfing hate Final Fantasy 8
Goddamn I wish I had some alcohol to pass the time
What about you, baby?
Trying breaking it down line by line and letting me see your reasoning.
Oh ! Adel !?
She's stuck in a prison in space [stuck in a box] and while she's frozen she's still able to think and feel [ Alcohol to pass the time ]
This is more of my breakdown of the riddle.
Stuck in a box
The answer is stuck in a box, this is either symbolic or otherwise.
Beautiful women in every form
The phrase "in every form" makes me think that this could relate to the inner beauty more then the physical.
I smurfing hate Final Fantasy 8
I can not think of much for this one.
Goddamn I wish I had some alcohol to pass the time
The answer wishes it "had some alcohol to pass the time" with. This is likely symbolic.
What about you, baby?
The answer is asking if "you, baby" want some alcohal.
My answer: This makes me think of the "prison" that Laguna and his friends found themselves in at some point, though it might be another prisoner then Laguna.
Very, very cold.
Stuck in a box........ bathroom?
Women in bathroom?
Drunk chicks in bathroom?
No. xD
Your thinking is a little...better?
Man I suck at this. ]:
If Bathroom is better thinking then maybe it has something to do with one of the those drunk guys in the Pub in Dollet ?
Hint: It's not a bathroom, but it is indeed a room.
Aphorora Pub in Timber.
Okay--let me clarify--the FIRST LINE is a room.
The answer is not.
It was Aphorora when I googled it.
My reasoning - a room where there are ladies with obvious internal integrity where you would go to get a drink and perhaps offer one to someone else.
I don't know what the smurf else to take from this, though.
Who said anything about women with internal integrity?
You're right, inner beauty is a hoax.
When you guys figure this out you're gonna kick yourselves. I thought someone would get this right away, honestly.
Give us another hint, then!
Jerry Cantrell?
The first line and the last line are the most important.
Does the conversation Squall and Rinoa have at the beginning of the game in the opening credits have any relevence to your riddle?
Uh, no. I don't so, no.
Hint: first disc.
No. No.
Is it Irvine when they get on the train at Galbadia Garden?
The Forest Owl Train
Box- Rinoa's room
Alcohol to pass the time- Them being smurfing idiots and pissing about instead of getting to the actual mission.
Nope. But Rinoa is involved indirectly.
That room in Cpt Carroway's mansion that Quistis gets trapped in and has to use the secret switch?
By jove, I do believe Miss Lockharted's got it!
This is more of my breakdown of the riddle.
Stuck in a box
You're trapped in the room.
Beautiful women in every form
You've got Quistis and Selphie (humans), the painting of a beautiful woman, and the statue of a beautiful woman.
I smurfing hate Final Fantasy 8
As I said, this was just a connecter to the second half of the riddle. I don't understand why people were so caught up on this line, after I said that it didn't mean anything. :greenie:
Goddamn I wish I had some alcohol to pass the time
This more just brings you to line four...
What about you, baby?
...you have to put the wine glass in the statue's hand.
You're up, Locky. :)
That was pretty damn good.
I must admit it was just a guess! I only saw that Rinoa was indirectly involved, and so I thought "right, when does she make a trout of the situation"
And read through backwards.
Saw disc 1. Saw the riddle and saw it was a room, so I though, ahhhh I'll just take a wild guess!
GO ME!
Right, now to think of a riddle....
A body built of a populous state
I always look to the bottom of it
Step one is where the water runs
I am not of any value
From inside I will judge
I don't know why, but I feel it is related to Balamb Garden.
The populous state makes me think either Esthar or Galbadia
The water makes me think either salt lake or sewers
I have no smurfing idea
None of those guesses are close.
Is it related to Obel Lake?
Is the answer water-related?
The underground city with the moomba's? (I forget the name of it)
Is it the dungeon with Bahamut?
Is it the magical lamp with Diablos?
Hm. Are we allowed to ask questions regarding the riddle or is the riddle the only hint we get?
If the Deep Sea Research Center is getting closer, I wonder if it might be Omega Weapon at the bottom, after going through all the steam valves etc.
The Brothers in the Temple of the Unknown King ?
It is not the brothers, no.
Later in the game.
Is it the Iron Giant inside Ultimecia's Castle ?
Hmmm, Centra Ruins? Odin?
Something about the riddle makes me think of the flood gate in Ultimecia's castle.
Some of you are getting closer....
Red Giant
Is it inside Ultimeca's castle ?
A body built of a populous state
Egypt?
Gargantua is in Ultimecia's castle and it looks like a mummy or something.
Am I on the right track? :D
The sphinx boss, it has two forms....Sphinxaur or Sphinxara.
Tri-Point?
Tiamat?
Uh. Griever? He's inside Squall's head.
I think this thread should be closed.
Lockharted comes into chat. "I'm worried my riddle is too easy." You strumpet! I don't know what it is blocking your abilities but that maybe.
Catoblepas
It is Catoblepas!
Here is the breakdown
A body built of a populous state
In mythology, a Catoblepas has the body of a buffalo. Buffalo is a part of the state of New York... which is very well populated
I always look to the bottom of it
Again, from it's mythology it states the head of Catoblepas is so heavy it can only look down.
Step one is where the water runs
Because you need to do some stuff with the fountain to find him...
I am not of any value
You find him in the treasure room, but he is not a treasure
From inside I will judge
He holds the GF Alexander did you fail to acquire him earlier in the game. Alexander's move is 'Holy Judgement'
Aw, I was thinking of guessing either Catoblepas or Tri-Point, but in the end I went with Tri-Point.
Oh My gosh ! I got it ! :jess:
Riddle is up for grabs. New line.
That was a great riddle Lockharted, even if you are a weirdo. :aimkiss:
Look, look, look, as much as you want,
you'll never see me, not even once.
My brothers, you'll find on the inside,
But outside is where I reside.
An upside, however, I get full fast.
Your first visit won't always be your last.
What am I?
Hmm, makes me think of a draw point...
I guess the Lifestream. The "get full fast" throws me off.
Sinwa, I think you're in the wrong Final Fantasy forum >.>
It's close, yes.
The draw points on the world map on islands closest to heaven and hell? The other dra-- wait no, scrap that, there's one in the tunnel on Balamb island too. smurf where's that hidden drawpoint, shumi village? I can't remember. Don't give me a yes if my word vomit is accurate, I need to formulate this..
Hmm, Haste draw point in FH?
No to Gamblet. I'll wait for Jiro to submit a final response.
Is it a hidden draw point ? Not the on Heaven and Hell just a hidden draw point ?
BTW thanks for bring the thread back to life FF IX Choco Boy I thought I killed it. :jess:
Yup, you've got it Maybee. The hidden draw points.
You're up.
EDIT: Btw, ask anyone. You can usually rely on me to revive dead riddle threads. It's what I do.
Good one FFIX Choco Boy! I thought you meant a specific hidden draw point for some reason xD
Oh wow ! I didn't think that I would get it.
Again new line Riddles up for grabs.
I vote to draft Jiro. That will keep us busy for about three weeks.
I am sworn to protect you
Here, on the mountainside
But something is amiss!
And I'm a little rusty...
Laguna's knight costume?
It was all a reference to that scene regardless ;) You're up! So much for weeks :p
That was fast..
Well, crap. I'm no good with FFVIII. Open round again, I guess.
I'll take the riddle making turn.
People believe most of us to vile,
Yet we are often misunderstood,
Hiding in fear because of that,
A Knight helps us remember that we are human.
Terrible is our futurist cousin for her wish,
Angelic is our current cousin bravely standing,
Pleasant is the pseudo-mentor of our current cousin,
Our ancestor is the only male version we know today.
Do you know who our cousins are?
Can you guess what we are called?
The riddle has a theme which is the answer.
The sorceresses? AFAIK, Adel is the only male sorcerer, and he was also the first, was he not? The futurist cousin would be Ultemecia, and the current, Rinoa (although I still say R=U). The pseudo-mentor would be Edea.
I can't think of anything else than sorceresses.
Adel is a female, believe it or not. Hyne was the only male sorcerer as far as I remember!
Wait, is that what it is? Like I said, I'm not great with VIII. It's my least favorite FF >.>
Ahaha! ChocoBoy got the overall theme, and guessed (with Gamblet correcting) the cousins.
People believe most of us to vile,
This refers to the fact that the Sorceresses are "hunted" in the game, which in turn relates to the innate fear that the average person has.
Yet we are often misunderstood,
Most people misunderstand that Sorceresses are just as human as their are.
Hiding in fear because of that,
Sorceresses live in fear of being found out and subsequently killed from the innate fear that the other humans have.
A Knight helps us remember that we are human.
Edea and Rinoa are the only known Sorceresses with a Knight, it can be assumed that the other.
Terrible is our futurist cousin for her wish,
Ultemicia lives in the future.
Angelic is our current cousin bravely standing,
Rinoa is the current cousin, and the "angelic" part comes from her Angel Wing ability (and her pet bitch-dog, Angelo).
Pleasant is the pseudo-mentor of our current cousin,
Edea is pleasant, we can only assume that she will mentor Rinoa thus she is a pseudo-mentor.
Our ancestor is the only male version we know today.
Hyne is the only known male Sorceress (Sorcerer would be the correct version).
Do you know who our cousins are?
Rinoa (current), Edea (pseudo-mentor of current), Ultimicia (futurist cousin), and Hyne (only male version). Honestly, I did space out on Adel.
Can you guess what we are called?
Sorceresses is what they are known as in English, in Japan they are called "Witches".
Cousin is used broadly.
Edit: Knights are more then likely linked to the Sorceress romantically, however seeing as we only have two known proper Knights... .
Two and one, two and three,
Need to set the target free.
Do it fast, do it well,
Then your higher ups can tell
You're the man for the job,
The only willing to deal with that snob.
But no matter what you do,
You have been fooled, too.
Gamblet's got it.
Well, that was fast... My turn!
Mysterious ruins,
My health points are high.
Kill me repeatedly
and the reward is thine.
Tonberry?
Yeah, it is Tonberry.
The riddle was quite easy, your turn. :D
Choco Boy! You're up!
What? I solved a riddle and didn't notice it? That's strange, I always check them. Must have been sleepy and missed it. No wonder the VIII riddles have been dead lately. :mad2: Sorry, guys.
Ten in total, nine are marked.
One man helps to get a start.
Sometimes easy, sometimes hard,
Always changing, never marred.
Reflections on reality,
Positions of dignity.
For best results, go early.
It will be worth it, surely.
Hmm, smells like SeeD exam.
Not the SeeD Exam.
A sidequest?
You could call it that, but it's also integral to the story.
It's a bit early for hints, but you're thinking along the right track.
Triple Triad sidequest?
"Sometimes easy, sometimes hard,
Always changing, never marred."
This makes me think that the answer is a game, perhaps a side-quest?
Gamblet's got it, Triple Triad.
Ten in total, nine are marked. - Ten cards are chosen in total, while only nine are "marked" on the grid, or played.
One man helps to get a start. - There is a guy who gives you a starter deck in Balamb Garden.
Sometimes easy, sometimes hard, - Obvious, some games are easier than others.
Always changing, never marred. - The rules are changing all the time when you get far enough into the game, but it's still recognizable as Triple Triad.
Reflections on reality, - Jack, Queen, King, Joker, Spade, Heart, Club, Diamond exist with real cards, and...
Positions of dignity. - All of the above are high ranking TT players of the world.
For best results, go early. - Meaning early in the game.
It will be worth it, surely. - Obvious.
Here we go:
Riding on my trusty steed,
you make me feel like I'm the best.
Obsessed by you,
I vow to protect.
I am your lapdog,
as I have dreamt all along.
Seifer's point of view, speaking about Edea possessed by Ultemica. How far am I from the answer?
Is it Seifer, the Knight?
Right you are.
"Riding on my trusty steed,"
A knight.
"you make me feel like I'm the best."
Seifer felt like a demigod when he was guarding Edea.
"Obsessed by you,
I vow to protect."
Self explanatory..
"I am your lapdog,"
Reference to the line Squall said to Seifer
"as I have dreamt all along."
It was Seifer's dream to become the Sorceress' Knight.
Your turn, Miss Lockharted.
Two not Eight
Will start the link
A scaled hide
Will make it clink
It shines in June
That is the key
The colour is like a Ruby
Beware for it will sting
A venomous jab
This is more than a fling
^ Ruby Dragon ???
Nope.
The last line is just filler to make it rhyme, it's not relevant to the riddle, btw.
Umm... Lunar Cry?
Nope!
The Propagators?
Two not Eight
Will start the link
A scaled hide
Will make it clink
It shines in June
That is the key
The colour is like a Ruby
Beware for it will sting
A venomous jab
This is more than a fling
Is it the Scorpions Tail? Is that one of the weapons in Weapons Magazine monthly?
Something tells me the answer relates to Carbuncle, the carbuncle gemstone is or was often mistaken for a ruby.
Footem is closest.
Not propagators, not Carbuncle related.
Slaying Tail ?
Nope!
Red Scorpion, then.
Two not Eight
2 x Ochu Tentacles - Tentacles - Octopus - Eight
Will start the link
Link like a chain
A scaled hide
Dragon skin is required
Will make it clink
Again, like a chain - whip
It shines in June
Weapons Mon June is the issue
That is the key
Was a reaaaaal giveaway there
The colour is like a Ruby
Ruby - Red
Beware for it will sting
Scorpions Sting
A venomous jab
They are also venomous creatures
This is more than a fling
Red Scorpion
footem's reasoning + the "June" in line 5 really gave it away. Pretty sure they were thinking of the Red Scorpion as well.
Open round.
Ah yes that was it! Welldone, you take the next one.
Okay, who's going to be the riddler for the new round?
Anyone?
Gifted with wings of white,
My Knight in black,
Often what I wear,
As blue as a clear sky.
Who am I?
