I found a staff with 100% Mana stolen per hit along with other prefixes.
Lord Serpent Long Staff or something like that.

I found a staff with 100% Mana stolen per hit along with other prefixes.
Lord Serpent Long Staff or something like that.
100% MS is uber hilarious.
I would love the Goldwrap if no one has claimed it yet.
And you found a Gull? Very nice. Lucky bastard. :-p
It's one hundred percent MS. Whatever damage you do melee, it steals. THAT'S what's hilarious. Put it on an Enchanter Sorceress, and she'll have enough Mana to kill stuff by melee and use Hydras.
Mulley might be able to use it if he gets back on *hint hint*
I think he lost it. But yeah, he is a bastard.
*gets priority even if Nom were going to give it up*
Nom lost the Goldwrap because he exited one of his private games without realizing that he had set the Goldwrap on the ground whilst synthing.
Nominus has been feeling a little...
DUMB, but a lucky dumb bastard at that.
I'm just missing the Immortal King's Soul Cage now from the IK set.
And for the SIXTH time bnet has kicked me while trying to get the Staff of Kings, and now I'm restricted from signing on. What the hell is going on?!?!?!
Tav, I guess you're right, I'm going to have to get someone to do it for me or something. This is ridiculous. And since I sat the 6os sword on the ground when I was kicked, I lost it.
Yeah, you're definitely not going to be able to get through A2 without help.
As for that 6Os Phase blade, I doubt it would be able to go for alot, since a Socketing quest guarantees the same result. Also, Etheral 6Os Executioner swords go for even more, since they are made for BotD.
I wonder if this could be used to make a 4Os Flail. I've already got plenty of PAmethyst, but I also have a Superior Flail, which does not work. When you see this, look a for a Flail, specifically a Flail, without prefixes or suffixes.Quote:

Tav, you might be interested to know the following, it seems I wasn't quite right about the socketing reward:
So, I guess if you get a flail from a low level monster and use the socket reward on it, you might get only 4 sockets. But if you get it from a really low level you might get three sockets. Is that what this is saying? I guess this method wouldn't be anymore or less risky than the rune method.Quote:

Someone was trying to talk to me, but they were out of game and I can't remember the fancy commands to talk out of game. If it was one of you join the normal game with the normal password.
If you added us properly to the /friends list, use "/f m message"
To do so, type in "/f a username"
What game are you in? My /f l says you are not online.
eoff, but I just started getting lag problems.
Wow that crafted item sucked. Maybe I need a higher level item.
OMFG someone help me before I cry. All I want is the Staff of Kings, that's all I want. And seven times now bnet has smited me from it's high place in the sky and probably laughed while doing it.
Didn't I tell you to stop, like, seven times? I have a Staff of Kings on my Necro. Party adventuring is alot smarter than solo partying in BLOODY SMURFING HELL. We need at least one more person in, if we want to get to Act V.
....Alright, I'll stop. One of the good things that has happened however is that I've gained like four levels doing this. :D
Obsession is not a good thing.
I'd call it more wrath than anything else. I will not be defeated by a machine dammit.
Edit: HAHA! And the humans win again. Ok, now I will stop and go make money really quick. :D
Technically it's a global machine made of huge and massive amounts of servers and storage that are either privatized, protected, or open to free hacking just to keep all the newbies away, that is run by some of the most qualified computer science and technology majors in the entirety of the United States, so I wouldn't classify it as a machine, more like a cyborg.
Explains why Battle.net acts like a jerk.
EDIT: You know what I realized, is that this thread is like my own personal emo-bitching thread where I post my thoughts and views on the world for everyone to see. I use my own personal experiences to judge the situations of other peoples', and am attempting to drown others in my death spiral.
You humour me, Tav.
I'll be on for around an hour before I have to go to work.
EDIT: Nevermind... It seems I can't join ANY game for some odd reason... I'll try again in another hour.
I wonder, which weapon do most people make Insight for: 4Os Staves, or 4Os Polearms?
Insight
4 Socket Polearms/Staves
Ral + Tir + Tal + Sol
Level 10-17 Meditation Aura When Equipped (varies)
+35% Faster Cast Rate
+200-260% Enhanced Damage (varies)
+9 To Minimum Damage
180-250% Bonus to Attack Rating (varies)
Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
+75 Poison Damage Over 5 Seconds
+1-6 To Critical Strike (varies)
+5 To All Attributes
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
23% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
WHAT THE F***?
Every game I make today, it ends up lagging right before I get to the end of the Maggot Lair!!!
I'm done for a few hours or so...
Hello, Mister Mailman. Time to send a racially aggressive letter to Blizzard.
I use it on a Polearm for an Act II merc. I've never used it on a stave. I would rather an Infinity, but using this, I never have to put any points into Energy, and I pretty much don't carry anymore Mana Potions.
That was so happening to me the a while ago for a few days. I feel your pain. Put I finally got the Staff of Kings, you could play it with me or Tav (or both) and we could just skip to the Viper Amulet, if we are ever on at the same time.
/me needs an xfer...
... again. I apparently have a penchant for making Spirits.
I finally got done with Maggot Lair.
And I went to sit in game while Tav xfer'd, and then we went after Uber Diablo, though I had no idea what we were doing, or even if in fact that was what we were doing...
But we just died because I was dumb and distracted... So I guess our chance was missed or something...
He died long before the time we got to Rakanishu.
EDIT: If you happen to be doing Countess runs for the runes, try checking the Armor and Weapons racks for Monarch Shields. The Max amount of Sockets for one of those is 4, which means socket quest = 4Os shield for Spirit.
6Os Phase Blade = hr
5Os flail = hr (CtA)
4Os flail = hr (HotO)
Keep an eye out.
ADDITION: This was a productive day.
Traded a PDiamond for an DKey.
DKey for HKey and TKey
40 PGems for a Jah rune
A bunch of low runes for slightly higher runes
Found a 4Os Flail
Found another Sigon's Gloves and Angelic Mantle Armor
2 PRubies for a "The Ward" Unique Shield
Permed my eighth (count it) eighth mule
You got a Jah? You lucky bastard.
Traded Jah and Pul for a very long series of valuable items that I could easily get Pul and Vex back for.
Amongst these were an Ali Baba's and a Gull Dagger, and much of the Tal Rasha set.
Hmmm.......bnet took a Lum and a 3 socket Tiara from me, along with some other low runes. Dammit.
Tav is happy now that he has a Gull Dagger....
Yes, but that's not going to happen, even for me.
I'll be making an MFer Hammerdin, focusing on Cow-killing (and the selling of meat). +96 from a 4Os Hauberk, +72 from a 3Os Crown, +100 from Gull, +40 from Nagels, +30 from Chancies, +30 from the runeword "Rhyme" Shield, +30 from Tal Rasha's/GoldWrap, and I have yet to find a +MF Boots (You can buy +30 from vendors in Hell). No Amulets yet with MF, probably +30 if I can find them, and several MF charms. At this point, I'm looking at 488% MF - boots, Amulet, Charms, leaving me at 400% MF. Conceivably, I could also make a Merc with (96+72) and Silence, making 656% MF if the Mercenary gets a kill.
Christ....
Ohh, SRL, I found something you'll REALLY want and some PTopaz to go with it...
Oh really? :D
If you get back on tonight, I'll be on.
Natalya's Loricated Mail with 3Os and 3PTopaz ohh really?
If so, then yes, you predicted correctly.
EDIT: I'm on right now.
Despite my already having it, you're a wonderful person and I love you forever. At least you netted me another socket out of it. :D  :D
Edit: OMG So many physical immunes in the Arcane Sanctuary. But, I am successful, finally. Next I'm on my way to Duriel, eek.
It's possible that I can get Nat's Set's items from the OTHER stuff I have recently obtained for the mere price of a PDiamond.
I'll give you 6 PDiamonds if you can do that. Remember, I only need the Helm and the Weapon, so you don't have to trade all of your stuff or anything.
....Hell I'll give you 40 Pgems for that, they're taking up space in my inventory anyway.
You could prbably get both the helm and the Weapon for 40PGems.
Actually, you could probably get the full set.
Well i would join the group if i were invited....Anyway i have the game just that it takes long to Install and DL the internet thing...so i would join you guys but if in encouraged....
Squall-=-=
It's an open invitation, as long as you play on USEast. We'd love to have you.
Tav, I'm never good at finding places to trade. Don't know how you do it so readily.
You could probably make your own game. Just make sure you place what you are offering first. For EG, I wanted to trade away a Zod for a Jah. Or something like that. As for me, I'm a bit of a snake, and I find people who overpay, or I go to specific Rune trades.
zod 4 jah
Zod for Jah
Zod 4 hr
zod here
bring jah
Also, Squall, it is an open invitation, as SRL said. However, it's very much suggested that you have DSL or better. If not, it increases the lagtime, and the possibility that your game will become interrupted, which means you can end up losing hours and hours (or weeks) of work.
Also, SRL, do you have time to Cows/Rush me?
So, just make a game that says Nats Mark & Helm for 40pgems (if that will fit)? Hmmm, I guess I'll try that later.
I have to do some grocery shopping after work, but after that I can rush you (with a break every 30 minutes or so for laundry).
You can also do games called "see script"
The Description of the game allows for more space
Nat's 4 script
Game Description: Forty PGems
Or something to that effect.
Will Diablo 2 run on XP? Someone just gave me a copy.
Yes. It works on 98+.
Apologies Tav, some dryers finally became available.
Edit: Duriel killed me, so I killed him back. :)
I'll be taking a break from Diablo for a week or so.
It's just become a chore to go through, and I honestly don't much care, if even I have all but two of Trang-Oul's items.
There was a certain amount of excitement, but it has since faded.
I'll probably show back up in a week or month.
Luck!
SRL, when I left, I had to go to sleep anyways.
And Nom, it's sad to lose you and Mulley in the same month. Hopefully, there will be others to replace you.
This is way fun, I got so involved, it took three hours to eat meatloaf.
I'll be honest...the game doesn't have the same allure to me that it did. That said, I'll try and maintain the account so as not to lose it, as I know I'll have the urge to pop in every now and then anyways, but I'll need a bit more time before I get right into it again.
Again, I'm not withdrawing comletely, just....more of a hiatus. I have tons of new games to play through anyways. ;)
You can get on Battle.net when you are ready. We can ease you in.
Stupid life. DAMN VIDEO GAMES WHY DO YOU PULL US AWAY!?
We'll still be here, probably. If not, then I'll probably still be playing.
EDIT: Goddamn, my new Paladin is overburdened. Should've thought out having a full Sigons, normal equipment, and MF equipment all on the same character, with Gems and Runes.
I want a bloody xfer.
Eragon
Lv11 Paladin
STR 37 (22-49 Damage)
Dext 38 (Atk 196, Def 10)
Vit 36 (STamina: 109, Lif: 106)
En 26 (Mana: 46)
7 Fire Resistance
Might 8
Prayer 3
Signing on...
My usual accounts are Tavrobel and Valarauko.
I would welcome you on, but I'm busy perming a mule, and doing homework. Other player accounts can be found on the first page, in the link. When I see you on (I need your B.net account name, as well), I'll give you some items.
Remember, we play on Ladder on USEast. From what I have heard, a Ladder reset is planned, so use this time to become familiar with the concepts of government and inter-person politics. You may have to create a new character, since Open is different from Ladder.
What happens at a ladder reset?
All current Ladder characters are moved to Non-Ladder Realms (in our case, USEast), and all inactive characters are also summarily deleted (3 months+). All economy is reset, characters, trade values, etc. There is also the chance that all maphacks or dupes no longer work, as well as a general check for violatory accounts, bans, and other such technical things. Ladder-only items are also converted to their non-Ladder counterparts. For Example, Spirit Runeword Swords will become gemmed swords with Tal, Thul, Ort, and Amn's effects. Sometimes a new patch is released, which gets rid of lots of stuff, mostly abuses.
Essentially, everything is moved, and things start fresh.
Not withstanding is the innately increased difficulty of Ladder play in the first place.
If anyone sees this, I need an xfer, an NM rush, and World of Warcraft so I can embarass Lekana. Alliance is fail.
EDIT: lol poster plz
So, I know I'll probably find one soon enough on my own, but if anyone finds a 2 socket shield, can you hang onto it for me. Thank you much. :D
What kind of 2Os shield, a low requirements one (as in a sucky one) or one with good defense, but insane requirements? If so, I have the first one.
Also, I did my first full MF runs with my HDin. Found a Bartucs, and a low Pike Unique. My fortune is rocketing sky high with this HDin, because in my rush alone, I found 12 uniques and had to make 3 mules to contain all those items.
I also traded an Um for Skullder's Ire recently. I think I may have to expand my operations onto a third account; in fact, I could probably finance the entirety of EoFF per regular, posting, active member from level one to level 60, with some items higher that I would be willing to lend.
Well, I'm level 13, about to slay Andariel. Whee! I have almost no gil, since I discovered gamble. Finance plz. lol.
Don't Gamble until you're at high levels. At this point, you're still at the bottom of the exponential earning curve.
What is the game name that you are in and password?
I'm putzing around on D2 again, but not as intensely or as seriously as before. Right now I'm playing a level 12 crossbow amazon that just beat the Countess.
Time for a break for a shower, food, errands, etc...
Welcome back, Mulley! Time for a major unloading of items.
Everyone add these accounts if you wish to contact me:
Tavrobel
Valarauko
Rothinzil
Oh, I guess I should join one. But I got some like 35 defense spiked shield (It's a unique Stone-Spire or something), a 25 defense Full-Helm, when all my helms are at 10. I had like 50000 prior to gambling.
Join maxis/maxis
Meaning game name: maxis
Password: maxis
Also, once you do start gambling, make yourself an Edge bow (Tir + Tal + Amn). It has 15% off vendor prices. Having that equipped along with having a Gheed's Grand Charm on you gives you 30% off vendor prices and it makes your money go a lot farther when gambling.
Apparently, Mulley and GG have a Gheeds. I still have yet to find one.
I'll find a 3Os bow for you, Cruise.
GG's Gheeds is the second one I found a while back too. xD
I didn't want to lose it but no one was online and I already had one on my character so I couldn't pick it up. Luckily, and VERY luckily for GG, he happened to sign on so he ended up with it.
Worry not, I just got a Gheed's from my friend, who can probably finance all of EoFF, active and inactive.
EDIT: Cruise, I found a 3Os bow for you, and I can supply you with the Tir and the Tal for Edge. SRL can offer his multitude of Amn runes.
ADDITION: SRL, I need another Amn, too. I'm almost done another Spirit.
I also just gave a bunch of Necro items to a friend, so I, somehow, have lots of space!
No more abbreviations!
Can someone explain the difference between unique, and elite items?
What the hell is a rune?
And Tavrobel, do you grind up your video-games, and snort them? You know too much about the games you play.
Fine.
#Os (item name) = an item with the number amount of sockets
SRL = SeeDRankLou
Mulley = Flying Mullet
Necro = Necromancer
GG = Giga Guess
gg = good game (1337.)
name/name = game name / game password
Gheed's = Gheed's Grand Fortune Charm
MF = Magic Find
D2 = Diablo 2
LoD = Lord of Destruction, the expansion of Diablo 2
mod = Modification, item ability
hr = High Rune, as in, a rare rune that is harder to find than the others
A unique item is an item whose name is in gold. Often, these items are better versions of their normal, white named counterparts, with a various multitude of modifications (buffs), that make the item better than what one might find normally. If something is a Gladius (a white named item, Sword), there is a Unique version of it with many abilities that make it better (in this case, Bloodletter Gladius). Requirements are often equal to, or lower.
And Elite item is another form of a white named item, except better. If one finds a Long Sword, there is another form of that item, except better, having higher requirements for a better quality weapon, and in this case, something called a Tusk Sword. Elite items also have their own, Unique forms.
A Rune is an item in which you insert your items with. After they have been placed, they cannot be removed, except by a special use, which, ironically, requires another rune. Runes have word values, and special modifications and benefits that they can add to an item. If you spell a Runeword correctly by placing Runes in the correct order, a large number of modifications will show up on the item, turning it both into a Unique item, and have the proper spelling. Some are more useful than others.
I liquefy them, and inject them straight into the spine, so it goes to the brain as fast as possible.
Cruise Control, check out the following site for more than you'd ever want to know about Diablo II:
http://battle.net/diablo2exp/
The pursuit of information is of utmost importance, because knowledge is power!
Whee! Level 25, Arcane Sanctuary. I have a perfect skull thanks to my Horadric Cube. And if I add all my bonuses up, a 56% chance of better magic items!
EDIT: Now a perfect Ruby too!
Just remember that a 56% MF means that the enemies drop will in multiplied by 1.56. i.e. if an enemy has a 2% chance of dropping a unique item, your 56% MF will give it a 3% chance of dropping a unique item. Also, MF starts to have diminishing returns past 400%, so if you have 600% it won't multiply the enemy's drop chance by 7, rather it will multiply it by something a little less, lik 6 or 6.2 (I'm guessing, I don't know what the exact forumla is when the MF starts to drop off). But overall, more MF is better. :D
The formula isn't available, but if you go into the game's code, it can be calculated by using a very dilapidated form of Calculus. Or Algebra. Actually, it might be simple additions and subtraction.
Anyways, at 600, it begins to stay near x6. Even at maximum MF, 1187%, the rate is not much higher than 6.5. Unfortunately, your ability to find Magic items will stay at x11.67. Then again, these items can be sold for 35k, which is the same amount as a Amulet or Ring with Edge runeword Bow, and Gheed's in Act One.
I beat Andy and made it to Act 2 and bnet won't stop being laggy. Looks like a good stopping place for the night.
Single Player games on Battle.net are usually laggy beyond words.
Duriel is a bitch. Tips?
Yes, Duriel is a bitch. However, he is killable.
I can't be very specific with my help because I don't know what kind of Paladin you are, so I'll just be general. There are two general ways to kill Duriel that I have experience in my time playing Diablo II.
1. Melee
If you are a melee character, you need to know one thing. Don't run. If you run, Duriel will attack you with a charge attack that you probably won't be fast enough to dodge with his Holy Freeze aura out. His charge attack is far more damaging than his normal attack. So just stay close to him and keep swinging. Get a belt with as many slots as available. Optimally, you want to fill them all with Full Rejuvination potions, but you will have had to been saving Rejuvination Potion from like the beginning in order to have that many right now (or have 12 or 16 normal gems). In any case, just keep attacking him. If you are using regular potions, use one if your HP gets half empty. He'll go down eventually. And an act I cold arrow merc doesn't hurt in this fight either.
2. Spellcaster
This method is more act II merc dependent. Have an act II merc with the prayer aura. Go into battle, again with as many potions as you can. Have the merc go up to Duriel and start attack. You stand in the back and cast your spells. Keep your right hand on the mouse, keep your left hand on Shift and 1-4. If you press Shift + 1 (representing the first column of potions, 2 for the second, etc etc.) this will give that potion to your merc instead of to you. So with this method, keep your merc alive, keep casting your spells, and Duriel will eventually go down.
In either case, cast a Scroll of Town Portal outside of Duriel's chamber, and give a few Thawing Potions to yourself and your merc to up your cold resist.
Or, just get one of us to kill Duriel for you. I can kill him in about five seconds on Normal with my SRLkungfu, and Tav can probably do the same. There's no shame is this, we promise.
Melee. Thanks, I win. I plase an emphasis on my maxed out might ability. And resist elements. What type is that?
You would fall under the Auradin category, for which there are many sub-categories. You would do well in a group (which is what auras are intended for). A lot of characters benefit from the Might aura: non-berserk Barbs, almost every Amazon, martial arts Assassins and her shadows, enchant-melee Sorcs, summoning Druids and Necros, werewolf/bear Druids, and a good 2/3's of Paladin builds.
Lots of people will like you, however if you stick with just the auras, as you go farther into the game you will start needing help from other players. Not a bad build, just probably not powerful enough to go solo after nightmare, which is true for many builds.
With my new Last Wish runeword Phase Blade, JahMalJahSurJahBer, I can kill anything in less than a hit, if it is before Hell mode. Worry not about cheating. Is it considered cheating to trade an Um for a Last Wish? Of course not!
Cruise, you'll probably do well as a Smiter Paladin, a Paladin who invests 20 levels into Smite, or a Zeal Paladin (20 for Zeal). Resistances are ALWAYS a good thing, since in Nightmare, your resistances take a penalty, and in Hell, they take an even more severe penalty. As you progress further and further, enemies will begin using more and more elemantal damage, and even have immunities.
Man, you can trade so well, you suck :-P
Last Wish:
6% Chance To Cast Level 11 Fade When Struck
10% Chance To Cast Level 18 Life Tap On Striking
20% Chance To Cast Level 20 Charged Bolt On Attack
Level 17 Might Aura When Equipped
+330-375% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Ignore Target's Defense
60-70% Chance of Crushing Blow (varies)
Prevent Monster Heal
Hit Blinds Target
+(0.5 per character level) 0.5-49.5% Chance of Getting Magic Items (Based on Character Level)
Wow, just wow. Especially for 3 Jahs.
Yeah, that takes a lot of good runes. :)
Well I'm at the end of Act 2 and Duriel punked me. :(
I think I'll go do some tomb runes and clean out Arcane to get some moneys and levels.
The only two better weapons for a Barbarian/Zealadin than Last Wish are Pheonix weapons (which should be discouraged for fear of Fire Absorb) and Breath of the Dying. No enemy absorbs Poison (immunity only).
VexVexLoJah, 4Os Swords/Shields
VexHelElEldZodEth, 6Os weapon
I just need Vex(es).
SRL, I need another Amn. I found a Broad Sword with 4Os.
I also found a 5Os Matriarchal Pike, Amazon only.
EDIT: Need these [attachments], Mulley?Done.
What is this like 8 Spirit Swords now?
Three in my possession. I traded one away, am using two, and gave one to a friend.
So Tav, I made a game last night to trade for Nat's Mark and Helm, and no one answered for a while, so I minimized the window and started reading something online. I got very distracted, and like two hours later two things had happened. One, miracuously I didn't get kicked from the game. And two, someone wanted to trade for the helm. So the internet is working, and this whole trading thing can work, I guess I just have to be patient.
Hmmm, oh well.
I'll see if I can personally obtain one.
Also, I'll TRY to stop making Spirit Swords, because I'm out of Thuls, Orts, and Amns. Plenty of Tals, though.
In the spirit of Spirit (great pun, eh?), if anyone finds a quality 4Os shield my necro would appreciate it. I need to make another +2 skills shield since I lost my stellar Heirophant Trophy that had a +2 sklls on it. :(
Remember that your Necromancer needs at least 120 base Strength in order to equip a Spirit Shield, especially that of the lowest possible requirement with maximum Socket abilities, the Monarch (156). Otherwise, the Runeword itself provides a large bonus to spellcaster essential stats, and is in many ways, better than most shields. I guess I'll have to put my plans to trade for Vex on hold. 40 PGems should be able to catch Nat's stuff and a 4Os Monarch.
If you happen to have 219+ Str, I'll lend you mine, since my Barb is useless until I can get BotD to combine with LW.
My necromancer has 202 base strength. xD
I don't like him to miss out on being able to equip that high-end stuff. xD
I don't have any strength modifiers at the moment though, so don't worry about the loaner shield. I'm MF'ing right now anyway so I have a shrunken head with Rhyme on it equipped.
I have 40 PGems myself if one set isn't enough.
So, I have a question. It's about dexterity. I currently have 200 dexterity on SRLkungfu. She hits about 3/4 of the time, and the kick hits about 80%. I can imagine those numbers are going to go down once I start act 3 and beyond, and more dex=more AR=more hitting. Should I keep putting points into dexterity or is that good?
I don't know about Assassins, because I didn't use them. Traditionally, I would say enough to get max Block (if you are using dual claws and the skills Claw Block). It couldn't hurt, but since you are a melee character, some life can't hurt.
EDIT: I have found it necessary to expand my operations to a third account, Rothinzil. So add this. Currently, I am making a Fire Sorceress, Mar_Zoe.
I usually like to increase my attack rating through items and skills. You'll find that pumping 5 points into dexterity will (maybe) give you a 1% better chance of hitting an enemy. Also, I find the life boost more usefull for melee chars in hell.
I need help with duriel. My level 23 auradin doesn't cut it. eoff trout Normal. Just chilling in Luht Gain.
And I have some uber equips. They say required level 8, and strength 66. I have a strength of 66 (without equips or buffs), and I'm level 23. But I can't equip it.
Your game seems to not exist CC....
Wierd. It's an open. Does that make a difference?
Why are you in Open?
Is there a difference? I picked the one that didn't require me to start at level one.
We all play on Battle.net, USEast Ladder. Playing Open is for the characters stored on your computer, not the net.
Christ. This sucks. I don't wanna restart.
Game: eoff
Password: trout
Character: bbomber
Some gold would be great.
Uh... CC? You need to check the box that makes your character an Expansion character, otherwise I am unable to join. You can convert your character in the screen where you choose which character to play prior to making a game. Just click the box, etc...
EDIT: GIrlfriend came home. I will be off for a few hours.
I don't have the expansion. T_T
Does that make me alone in the brotherhood?
I think everyone else is expansion.
It does, but he's not on Expansion, so none of us can help except by objectively observing.
Make a donation to the CCD2:LoD, please. 20 dollars!
EDIT: Also, you need to check the box that says "Ladder" character. When you log onto Battle.net, it is supposed to automatically log you onto the Realms. Whether or not the character is Ladder is your choice (so make sure the tick is in the Realm character box, Ladder box, and NOT the Hardcore box).
Also, this is a quick guide to level, if you need to rush characters. SRL, I, and Mulley have characters that can rush, including my Barbarian, which can now do Hell rushes.
Level 1-5: level up by going through Act I
Get rush from friend until Ancients
6-15: Tristram runs (labelled as trist00#, or tristy#, or some variation on B.net)
16-20: level up by going through Act II
Get Ancients, must be at least level 20 for Ancients
21-25/30: cow games (labelled as I cow, or you make cows, or something that involves beef)
26/31-40/45/50: Baal runs, then kill Baal, get Nightmare rush (Baal, TacoBaal, w/e)
41/46/50-70+: Nightmare Baal runs/Cow games, then kill Baal
70-80: Get full Hell rush (if possible), then do Baal runs or Cows
80+: Chaos runs (I chaos you, variation)
ADDENDUM: I got got a BotD borrowed from friend for 4hrs, to be paid off witihin a month, one hr per week. Wish me luck.
I need someone to help me through the Viper Amulet quest: I can't make it to the temple due to the darkness hiding the monsters. So, literally, the darkness is killing me.
I traded for the two remaining pieces I needed to complete Trang-Oul's Avatar, and am very pleased, but for one thing:
There seems to be a bug in the set that causes the casting animation to be horrendously slow... Bone Necros need speed casting, so that ruined that idea...
Instead, I decided to revert back to my Lagmancer ways, using an earlier character. My minions and I are now invincible. I have my Skeleton Skills jacked all the way up to smurfing 30!
Whilst cruising about Nightmare, I decided to off-handedly slay Baal, and upon his death, he dropped a particular item, more specifically, a certain hat, something that looks like a particular green peasant hat...
Yeah, that's a bug that even Blizzard knows about. Maybe if they release another patch they will fix it. I got my Shadow Master up to level 31 with the help of an ammy from Tav and a skill shrine. She's freaking invincible, I can't imagine a whole army of Shadow Masters. Hopefully your Skeletons have at least decent AI.
I now have three of the four pieces of Natalya's Odium. All I need now is Natalya's Mark and I'm set.
My skele's AI was superb when I had 31 in skeletons, skeleton mastery and skeletal mage. The only problem I ran into was with so many summons out if I ran too fast some would just disappear. Thus I had to run in spurts to make sure everyone could keep up.
I hate you.
Even with BotD and Last Wish.
Ohh, and if anyone finds a good 4Os Polearm (preferably an Elite version, such as a War Pike), please tell me. I am trying to make an Insight. Since I am dualwielding weapons, I will be strapped for mana. Preferably Ethereal if possible, but not necessary.
Tav, if you want, I could lend you the Harlequin Crest Shako for a bit since I am currently using only Trang-Oul's Avatar, which includes his helm.
However, once I am strong enough that I no longer need the complete set, I will want it back.
Tav, Insight will only work on a polearm or a stave, not a spear. A War Pike is a spear. I know the runes for Insight are cheap, but still, make sure you use a polearm and not a spear. The strength requirements for elite polearms can be pretty steep, and the one that has decent requirements (a Thresher) has a rather low minimum damage. Of course it depends on what other equipment you give your merc. If you can get his strength up to 165, then a Cryptic Axe is the way to go, but unless you can do that a Partizan has pretty decent attack and low strength requirement. It's up to you, just don't use a spear.
I gave my Mercenary Arioc's Needle instead.
And I doubt I will use the Shako unless I go back to using my MF Paladin, which is possible.
Made it through Act I in Hell with no problem, besides lag issues. But having a grand meat wall of thirty-five or so helps when it comes to the lagmonster rearing its ugly, repugnant face.
And Tav, I already want my Shako back...

He's listing the best places to level up (and look for good item drops) when you're at the respective levels.
Nominus made it through Act II with no difficulty. Duriel never seemed so easy...
Found a Rockstopper and the helm to the Aldur set, if anyone wants them.
I have a level 15 druid that can use the helm eventually if GG doesn't want it.
Well that makes him a God (note capital G).
A Harlequin Quest AND a Druid's Helm?! Hrmmm...I think I'm gonna log on.
[EDIT] Oh...no one's on...
Shako's is Nom's, and the Aldur's Helm, well, I've got two of them. Jalal's is WAY better, and worth a high rune. Good thing I found it with my MFDin!
I'll be on in a bit.
EDIT: So I was just walking along casually when I happened to run into a Unique monster that dropped a HoZ.
And Nom got his Shako back *cries*
Shako shako shako!
:choc2: :choc2: :choc2:
Tav helped me through Act III because he is a dear. Karma looked well upon him and gave him a HoZ, which is insane and ever so lovely.
Ironically enough, my Spirit Shield is better than HoZ on a spellcaster Paladin, but there are those who could use my HoZ. After all, HoZ is worth many, and I repeat, many high runes.
Drop me a line when you're logging in, please, Tav.
I'm already on.
Found Scarbshell Sandtrack Boots if anyone wants them.
And Tav, I'll be on later today at around 4:00 or 6:00 if you still need a xfer.
If anyone has a spare Ko rune may I have it? Pretty please? :D
I'll consider it.
Ohh, and if someone finds a 450+ defense Archon Plate with 3Os, tell me. I have recently found the items required to make myself this shiny thing called Enigma.
EDIT: We need to find a way to get LoD for Cruise Control.
Question. The Lilith quest. I'm assuming this is a Hell only things?
Yes.
Pandamonium event is a uber character thing only. No hybrid or poorly built character could hope to survive in those areas, partially because of the immunities and the high amounts of HP for enemies.
Essentially, what you do, is do a bunch of Countess (Black Marsh's The Tower), Summoner (Arcane Sanctuary), and Nihlatak (Halls of Vaught), which drop the three keys, Hate, Destruction, and Terror keys. after synthesyzing them in the Cube, you get to fight an uber boss, Litith (Andariel palette swap), Uber Duriel (Hell palette), and Uber Izual (normal colors). They drop the Brain, eye, and Heart of the three Brothers. When the organs are synthesized together, they lead to Uber Tristram, where you fight Uber Mephisto, Uber Baal, and Pandamonium Diablo. The last one that dies drops a Torch, a Large Charm with random +3 skills to a certain class, and random + attributes, and random + resistances.
Hrmmm...does it have to be done solo, or can I ask for help?
You can get help, but only one Torch will drop. In addition, a character can only hold one Torch at a time. The last brother killed will also drop one Standard of Heroes per character in game. All these signify is that you beat Pandamonium Event, and you can hold as many as you'd like. Ignore the level requirement, because it does nothing.
The portals can only be opened in Harrogath, Hell mode. Enemies also begin spawning when you enter, and are considerably more difficult than most enemies, despite how similar they look.
If you want to solo Pandamonium, the only character that can do it is a Frenzy Barbarian with level 20 Berserk Synergy and the best possible gear, or, the more popular alternative, a Smiter with the best equipment that Diablo 2 can afford.
LOL! So basically, help isn't something that I can ask for, it's pretty much a necessity.
BTW, my knowledge of runes is, to be polite, limited. Jah + Ith + Ber. I forget the name, but I saw an armor with them in it, and it was quite good. How many firstborns will I have to sell to get my hands on 'em?
Yes. Even I can't do Uber Tristram with my Barbarian, or my Hammerdin yet. I can do the Key Runs, but there's no guarantee that I will survive, since the Countess spawns Physical Immunes in her croft.
40 or more, each firstborn meaning a Perfect Gem, and one for Jah and Ber. Ith can be found rather frequently, so no cost there. The Armor is called Enigma, and it is considered the BEST runeword in the game, even better than Last Wish, Jah + Mal + Jah + Sur + Jah + Ber, and Breath of the Dying, Vex + Hel + El + Eld + Zod + Eth, two equally respected weapon runewords.
I already have Jah, Ith, and Ber. All I need now is the 3Os Archon Plate, which is the optimal equipment for Enigma.
:( No lovin' for the Giga?
*ducks flying blunt object* KIDDING! Kidding!
The only reason I'm so rich is because I haven't stopped playing.
My Fire Sorceress can even make me fried chicken. But I prefer my Beef RARE; five seconds on each side.
Reminds me of the 8-Bit Theater comment.
"It was flash fried in 6 seconds. It was dead for 5."
Thanks for the charm Tav. That and remembering that I had the Fade ability (I am so used to using Burst of Speed), I was able to get through the Gloams and such and kill Mephisto. I can now to Travincal runs. Don't know if I should try hell yet, the gloam types might get the better of me.
Gloams don't appear in Hell Travincal, and surprisingly enough, Hell Travincal is arguably more difficult than anything in the previous acts, whether for MF or for experience. You can continue through Hell, if you'd like, you seem to be strong enough to handle it.
In Hell Travincal, the enemy pattern is always the same.
Zealots (Animal)
Heirophant, uses Blizzard, Lightning, but not nearly as good as a Gloam Lightning (Animal)
Water Watchers, uses Poison Knockback attack skills (Animal)
Death Lords, uses Fire Ball, Meteor, and Fire Wall (Demons)
Council (Demons)
Also, at level eighty, you'll pretty much stop gaining levels without outside help, or unless you can go through the entire game without dying more than once per act (with the exception of Act IV).
EDIT: I told you that one of these days, those Spirits would pay off! One of my 35% Spirit Broad Swords just netted me 2 Mals, 2 Ists, and a Vex! Not an actual show of how valuable Spirit is, but it was totally worth it.
Oh, when I said hell I meant act IV, not hell difficulty. I did the travincal on hell difficulty, died once, but it was my own fault. Surprisingly didn't die once while fighting Mephisto, and only used three full rejuvinication potions, and not a one for my merc (shadow master died several times though). Got a really crappy drop from him though, especially considering I ran into at least 10 unique items on my way to him.
Edit: I have a question about stacking "X% extra gold from monsters". I got an ethereal Crown of Thieves, and I gave it to my merc. So now he has 83% more gold from monsters. Does that just work for his kills, or does mine add to his and now all the kills are the cumulative sum?
You should be fine, I thinks.
EDIT: Gold and MF work in the same way, so gold I believe is cumulative, if the merc scores the kill.
ADDENDUM: GG owes me his firstborn, since I just traded a high rune for Aldur's Armor.
If anyone can spare the time when they see me on Diablo, could they graciously give me the City of the Damned WP? I have traveled there three times now, and each time it has kicked me off.
I am rather tired of fighting Burning Souls since they utterly destroy my minions, not to mention my Full Rejuvs...
I may hit you up later to assist me in taking out Nihlathak.
Oh, and I can *FINALLY* use Gheed's Fortune.
I think there should be monuments to my generosity.
Yes, yes there should.
I don't think I am a high enough level to go into Hell difficulty...ah well.
Yeah, Tav gave up a Cham for me. I think that actually finding Nat's Claws would have been far easier than finding a Cham, so his generosity is quite appreciated. And now my assassin has that cool fade look that comes with completing the set. And also, thanks in part to Tav and in another part to GigaGuess, I am now in the positive with all my resists in hell, and I have 80 to poison resist. I forgot that the set gives +50 to all resists. I think I'm ready for act IV in hell now.
How much is an Um rune worth?
Um is a decently rare rune, you could get most any non-runeword item from other players. You could probably even trade for a slight higher rune if that person has a higher rune but no use for it, and they need an Um.
There are two rather good runewords using an Um. The first is Chains of Honor, which makes an extremely good and versatile armor, especially with the +65 to resist all. The second is for Chaos, and two of this runeword are pretty necessary for the ellusive Whirlwind Assassin build. So you'll be rather popular with an Um. In fact, you might want to just hang onto it, and trade other things for making a Chains of Honor for yourself (if you want).
Unless you are wanting a specific item or something, make a game called "Um 4 trade" and see what people are will to trade for it. You might get some good stuff, or a better rune.
Thanks - I'll hold onto it for a bit
Is there a minimum level to enter Hell difficulty?
No, as far as I know. I think the only requirement of Hell is to somehow survive.
Here's how you can tell if you are ready for hell. In the very first area where the Den of Evil is, go out and find a unique zombie monster. There will be at least one. If you can't even make a dent in it before it hits you maybe twice and nearly kills you, you are not ready for hell.
No, I mean last time I made a game, Hell wasn't even available.
The last time you made a game, had you already beaten Baal in nightmare? With that character?
NM. I tried again, I must've just overlooked it. But yes, I need more time to level up. :p
OK, so.....
The devil takes true form when it presents itself as FREAKING IRON MAIDEN!!!! OMG...OMG...OH MY GOD!!!! My merc died at least 10 times by himself, not to mention the times he died when I died. Those damn Oblivion Mages were so damn cunning with when they cast Iron Maiden, one they were off screen so I didn't even know I was in range, two they usually did it right before I was about to perform a full power Dragon Talon, which for me can do up to 20k damage (including poison), and my 875ish HP is no match for that. I am even no match for my normal attack. But after dieing 3 times, I finally got to Diablo. And I was so very very close to killing him when I ran out of full rejuvinication potions without realizing it and died. But I eventually got him, 3 rares, but I only had 100ish mf, so I wasn't expecting much.
I am now in act 5, and this is the first time while playing this game that I have ever been this far into hell, I'm excited.
*applauds.*
It is the lowest of the high runes. High runes have roughly the same values of other high runes, but some are more valuable than others. Um is cradled in between the middle runes and the high runes, which makes it worth just about any valuable Unique (such as Jalal's or Shako), but also worth high runes, such as Mal (best trade value), Ist or Jah (best usage value), and Ber (which is arguably the best of the high runes before Zod).
60 for Ancients. 75+ is recommended to get the best of the possible experience, based on monster levels, and ease of difficulty in killing monsters (as in, not using 16 Potions to kill one champion).
Gaw! I can never find a cow game... >< its annoying as crap, why does East suck so much?
My account name is RebellionCraft.
And I found one but there's one problem, we keep dying lmto
I think we just found out.
LOL Battle.net wins for tagging me every three seconds.
Thanks, Tavrobel + GigaGuess! :cD
:) No prob. If you want a quest rush, I might be on tonight, so...just lemme know.
GG, if you check your PMs, you can ignore the one labelled as "xfer."
EDIT: I win, Battle.net! I now have the full, completed, shiny, and the very purple Tal Rasha's Wrappings Set!
battle.net hates me, I swear to gods, battle.net hates me
No, I'm fairly sure that it is just hateful and vengeful feelings.
Oh, no...sometimes she's nice and gives me many shiny things, other times she...well lets just edit this for decency of the forums.
I just think she needs to get a little younger is all...
maybe have a daughter or something....new.
Are we still talking aboutLekanaBlizzard? Because if so,then that's a little disturbing talking about my wife like thatthen you are all right on the balls.
Ohh, and I'm going to update the EoFF Diablo 2 players cheatsheet chart on the first page. Let me know if there are any major changes.
You can add SRLcoldzap to my list (lightning sorc with frozen orb back-up). I just started her yesterday.
And SRLkungfu is three steps away from being Matriarch. :D
Matriarch.
BTW, if anyone's interested, I found a Graverobber's Charm of Sustenance. +1 to Necro summons, plus 36 to life, I believe.
*drools*
Can you be on right now?
Another high rune(s) for GG, right there.
Ohh, and by the way, Grand Charms with +1 [skill to character's techtree] are worth one high rune. Ones with Faster Hit Recovery, Faster Cast Rate, Run Speed, Life, Mana, or Resists are worth 2 high runes are more. Sorceress techtrees (fire, lite, ice), Paladin Combat tree (pcombs only) and Assassin Trap Tree (traps only) go for four high runes or more.
Ohh, and for a warning, expect PMs, as I'll be updating the character chart for Diablo 2. Details will await you.
Also, I am considering deleting my Bone Necro, since I built it wrong, have not that great equipment, screwed up, and are not having fun with it dying every three seconds. I'll be needing both an xfer, and the next lucky Necro that helps me out when I require it will get my items (if I'm willing to give them away).
Anytime you need to xfer if I'm on AIM ping me and I can log in and leave my char on in the background as I work (as usual).
What's up with Tomb Vipers? I went to kill Nihlathak and these Claw Viper-like monster that had a poison projectile attack (Tomb Vipers) did this thing where they would hit me and it sounded like they were hitting me 10-20 times very rapidly and I would die almost instantly, same for my merc. What's up with that, my poison resist is 80 right now? Is that right?
Yeah, Vipers with Poison attacks have a skill level above 15.
Astonishingly enough, Mercenaries last alot longer than any of us.
High Rune notwithstanding, Mully's claimed it, and I'd rather give it to one of the people who have helped me so much than to trade it off...now if there were no takers...Heh heh heh...
[EDIT!] W00t! Another level! I'm now up to Level 67...only 9 more levels 'til I can go full Aldur's. I'm reiterating my request for decent Jewels (One of the Uniques is ideal, but rare/just plain good buffs is cool too...I'd say resistances is my priority, but I wanna see what the additional bonus from Aldur's armor brings me to...) Also, I'm on my computer in the Morning from about 6-7AM MST, Mully, so drop me a line if you're still interested in that charm.
