Sadly, SRL, the armor is the easiest part of the Griswold set to find. However, the entire set together is worth approximately three high runes, but the armor itself is worth about that of Trang Oul's armor: a Hel rune.
In that case, if one of us is trying to collect the Griswold set then the armor is theirs. Otherwise, I guess I'll keep it and try to collect the set to trade.
Ha! I was right, lou! Told ya! Cim-1 Lou-0
then again...
Cim-0 Rusherkilla-1
I have a feeling that the rest of us missed something while I was playing on Warcraft 3 sleeping. What happened?
I told him that the gris armour was easy to find, and that the whole set was worth 2-3 hrs :cD
And it never hurts to get a second opinion about things.
I'll be back on in a little while. My apartment severely needs to be cleaned.
Ah! Tav, get on now!
I'm over flowing with gems
COME GET THEM! :cD
Any Barbarian care for this? Or is it worth anything trade wise?
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...dtreestump.jpg
If it is worth something, it's not going to be very popular. You could try and see, but I wouldn't expect people.
Whoo hoo! I'm officially full Aldur's!
You finally got to level 76? Good for you.
Emphasis on *Finally.*
But it was mostly you and the rush you gave me.
How am I not surprised.
Don't mock me... :p
Don't talk like that to your baby daddy!
Don't make me mad, or I'll...I'll...I'LL BLEED ALL OVER YOUR BOOTS DAMMIT!
Cimanim, I'll trade you a low Call to Arms for gems!
EDIT: Who has high runes? I plan on making an Infinity, so I shall require four high runes. It would be easier on me if I did not have to trade for them. I have Mal, SRL has Ist, but if anyone has Ber, speak up, please. Also, we need a 4Os Elite Polearm.
Deal! :cD
EDIT: oh, Giga, you're just now getting to 79? :c) I'm 80 now.
killa should have the high runes I need, but I still need a 4Os Polearm.
Also, I can't actually use it yet, even if I did obtain an Infinity. However, I'd like the option present.
No character to use it on, actually.
My Fire Sorceress is only 39 (and someone finished my normal Baal, damnit, so I need private games to get up there).
My Trap Assassin is only level 10, and cannot yet be rushed.
My Druid takes Insight, because Wind spells are considered Physical damage, and Hurricane doesn't do enough to warrant Conviction. The Mana boost is the sex.
My Hammerdin also takes Insight, becase Hammers ignore defense and resistances. Base Mana is fun!
My Barbarians don't need it, since I deal more Physical/non-elemental magic damage, plus Arioc's is way better than Insight, until I can get a Faith Colossus Crossbow, and put it on the Act I mercenary.
I don't start with mercs until level 80 anyways. That's when you can start using the good equipment, such as high Fortitudes, and the requirements, stats-wise for elite Poles.
Also, I'll be updating the character screen, to reflect my new account (yeah, I already need another one). If you have not PMed me any new characters' information (just use the old sign-up sheet I gave you), they will not be included, which means that I will ignore you on Battle.net. Also, BtV, remember to log in characters, since they need 2+ hours to perm. Don't want to lose all of those items; those Wizardspikes go for one high rune each!
They really screwed up the servers, huh. I'm getting really tired of being tagged just for trading.
Anyways,I got War Traveler Mirrored boots with 47% MF.
Got an Um in my hell forge, not bad. I also got a perfect fort(armor).
Yeah, I got tagged about 30 seconds after I killed andy and grabbed all the items, which is why I cried and stopped playing
Anyone interested in starting a Hardcore character?
Hardcore takes too much time, considering that none of us really have time in the first place. I'm too scared, and I don't really have a good enough base on making characters without dying (hence my cursing on Battle.net everytime I die).
What is the current condition of the War Traveler's?
I got a Pul from the Countess in Hell. :D Now I just need a Jah and I can make a Dream for my merc. Oh yeah.
Speaking of which, I know that +1 to random skill tree is worth a high rune, but are all treated equally? I mean I know that +a lot to life will make them much more expensive, but if they just have the +1 to random skill tree, are all skill trees created equally?
I ask this because I got a +1 to Combat Masteries grand charm for a Barb (it also has +17% gold, which is meh, I know). Will +1 to Combat Masteries be as valuable as +1 to Combat Skills or +1 to Warcries, or at least worth a high rune?
Edit: And Mulley......a harcore character. I have never braved Hardcore before. I wouldn't want to do hardcore by myself, and I would do it with you but we are almost never on at the same time. I don't know, I've played with many characters, and the one that I have lasted the longest with without dieing is a martial arts assassin, who died for the first time in Normal against an Oblivion Knight in the Chaos Sanctuary (damn Iron Maiden), and then repeatedly against Diablo.
Hardcore definitely takes a lot more patience and leveling-up and loot runs so that you can be strong enough to not die.
Well, if anyone else feels neurotic, Hardcore FlyingMullet the Paladin just started smacking things around in the Blood Moor.
I'll take the Combat Masteries one, but it's not worth alot, since they are not treated equally. Mods also give more value, based on classes. Hel-Pul means any value of runes from Hel to Pul, Pul being the highest, and anything in between the two as lowest (except Ko). Values in parentheses are the common values, though they can range wildly, depending on need. killa may have more accurate values. Al numerical values are high runes.
Barbarian:
BComb: 1-8 (2)
Masteries: Hel-Pul
Warcries: 1-4 (2)
Amazon:
Bows: 2
Spears: 1
Passives and Magic: 1
Sorceress:
Lightning: 6-9 (8)
Fire: 4-6 (4)
Ice: 4-8 (4)
Paladin:
PComb: 8-15 (10)
Offensive Aura: 2
Defensive Aura: 2
Necromancer:
Poison and Bone: 4-6 (4)
Summoning: 1
Curses: Hel-Pul
Druid:
Elemental: 4-8 (4)
Shapeshifting: Hel-Pul
Summoning: Hel-Pul
Assassin:
Traps: 4-10 (8)
Martial Arts: Hel-Pul
Disciplines: Hel-Pul
Dammit. Ugh, well I already have my Pul so it's yours I suppose. I suppose I could re-roll it a few times, but that probably wouldn't be worthwhile. Maybe if a get another sub-par one I'll try that. PComb for 8-15 high runes, that's insane. I'm surprised at some of the ones that aren't worth a lot.
Not worth it. There are over 30 mods, (suffixes and prefixes, not to mention those that can get BOTH). Not only that, those mods emcompass many numbers per percentage, which makes it 5*30^3. You need 3 PGems per each reroll, and having forty of them is 13 rolls. There's a small chance for you to get a GC with +skills. And by small, I mean miniscule. It's like Vegas: you don't reroll when you're feeling lucky, you reroll when you're feeling really lucky. 40 PGems is a high rune, sometimes you can offer less, depending on the person who wants them.
xD
War travelers were traded.
No one is playing :(
Well, that's slightly better than War Traveler's, despite the fact that Fortitude is easier to make.
Whatever works. Mercenary equpiment is important.
EDIT: As of this point in time, I will not be on Diablo 2 all day. Such circumstances leading to my abscene/inactivity are attributed to my playing this too much. As a result, I believe that I am suffering from acute Carpal Tunnel, so I will be taking as along a break as I can from the computer. My grades have also plummeted, so, yeah, that's a bit of a factor (LOL AP Chemistry). However, I will still be on by appointment, and will give my items to you on a need-by-need basis/MF running/trading/etc.
I will still be online (on AIM or EoFF), so if you need me, PM me or message me. Even if it appears that I am away or not logged in, I am never actually away, and I have auto-log-in, and refresh EoFF frequently. I will also be passing my accounts to Mulley and SRL, so, if they do an inventory for me, I will be able to track all of my items. I will also update the EoFF-D2 page more frequently; please, PM ME ANY CHANGES FOR THIS, INCLUDING NEW CHARACTERS OR ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS!
Man, that sucks, eat more fruit. :cP ANYWAY.
I hate this game, so much right now.
I hate it.
None of my characters have permed, and from 6:30 to about 10:30 my Necromancer had been sitting in eoff and apparently he is still not permanent. Same goes for the character my friend made as a mule and has attempted to perm for the last week. I'm wondering if it has to do with the character name, because that's the only character that keeps getting kicked from battlenet; its "edisgay".
If that is the reason, I believe I will have a dead friend. Anyone have a place to bury a skinny body?
Yeah, it does. But oddly enough, it is feeling better today, after drinking some milk.
Alot of people do.
You need to be in the game, not the channel. Also, after being on for two hours straight, some of the information doesn't register, unless you go back to the game while it is up, and settle some of the lag by running in circles. Also, an easy way to ake sure the game does not disconnect you is to open up your stash and inventory screen, and leave it there.
edisgay? It might be, but I seriously doubt it.
Yeah, when I perm characters I make a private game, leave them in the game for around 2.5 hours and every 15-20 minutes or so do a little circle run or something so it doesn't kick me out due to inactivity or other stupid reasons.
I haven't had any problems permming characters yet.
LOL.....for the longest time I have had absolutely no idea what the hell you guys have been talking about when you say "perm", but I think I understand now....LOL.....I swear sometimes my brain just turns off for a few days.
I suppose when you talk of "permming" a character you mean that you play with the character for long enough that the "this character will be deleted in 10 days" thing goes away. I still don't know what you guys mean when you talk of "permming" items and runes.
So, I doubt seriously that my lightning sorc can go anymore in hell by herself. I am almost done with act 1, and after that, the multitude of lightning immune lightning enchanted monster will not allow for further solo action.....unless I stumble on two Bers and a Mal :D
For pure builds, never put in any skill points in an alternate techtree. This compromises how far you get on the exponential curve of damage, whih means if you can't kill the enemy first, they WILL kill you. As for Sorceresses, in Hell, an alternate techtree rarely does enough damage on an enemy without that resistance. You simply will not survive. To get around this, rely on expanding your options through outside sources.
Mercenaries with Infinity, are especially dangerous, since a ranged character can easily eliminate enemies with low Immunities. Lightning is even more dangerous, since no spawned enemies have Lightning resistances that cannot be broken (>140%), compared to Ice (Oblivion Knights have 180%), and Fire Immune (which is quite literally, half of the enemies). If you have a Necromancer friend, you can get the bonuses of Lower Resist, along with Conviction.
PERMING
On Diablo 2, there are two definitions for the word "perm." In one instance, it can mean to make permanent a charactr or account, by playing on the character for 2 hours (cumulative) within 48 hours. If you go beyond 48 hours, the requirement is 4 hours total, or you can log on a character until after one month, when the character will automatically be permanent.
The other instance would be to make an item permanent. This is the method used by many players on Diablo 2 to make sure that the items they get from trade will not disappear. Remember about what I told you earlier in the thread about duped items? That they will disappear after a point? Well, high runes are very popularly duped, so to perm, means to make the item remain in existence for as long as you need it to, by periodically perming an item. To do this, simply open up the trade screen, confirm the trade with nothing in the screen, and cancel. You should then promptly leave the game. I don't know why, but it works to keep the item from disappearing. Essentially, doing this stops an item from disappearing.
Perming says nothing about the integrity of your own, personal character, so don't object to perming an item. This is merely a stopgap to help ensure that you got your fair share of money's worth for your items in trade. It reflects nothing of you, only how much you trust other people, and YOU SHOULDN'T because Blizzard fans are crazy.
There is a technical reason for perming runes and items, and there is the game coding to account for why it works. As for how it works, just leave it at "if it works, use it!" This has to do with how Diablo 2 recognizes items. Each item has a specific series of Identification numbers, ranging from ItemLevel, DropLevel, Difficulty, w/ Sockets, nomenclature, enemyDropped, not to mention the stats that you see on the item that make it unique.
If at any point two or more items have the same ID numbers, they will be passively destroyed by something called "RustStorm," a program by Blizzard that helps to delete illigitimate items. Perming gets around RustStorm by recognizing trades and allowing items to stay around after a trade; the TRUE technical definition lies in the game's code, something which would be illegal to expose here, nor am I learned enough to know how to pick out which parts contribute in significant ways.
He was in eoff from 6:34-10:51 and NOTHING happened. And I even ran around before I logged out and NOTHING. I hate this game, I hate it so much.
So, is this a good wand??
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ackhandkey.jpg
It's a decent mid-level wand.
OMG a post!
Yeah, that's not the world's greatest wand. Maybe a Pul.
I now have the following:
Shako (ber)
Hoz (170%, ber)
and 10k attack >< :cD not much, but oh well, now all I need is an arach and a torch. wOOtness.
This might seem like logic, but I'll post it anyways for people who don't know Torch trade values.
Barb Torch: one high rune
PBarb Torch: one high rune
Zon Torch: one high rune
PZon Torch: one high rune
Assassin Torch: one high rune
PAssassin Torch: two high runes
Druid Torch: one high rune
PDruid Torch: two high runes
Necro Torch: one high rune
PNecro Torch: one high rune
Sorc Torch: four high runes
PSorc Torch: eight high runes
Pally Torch: ten high runes
PPally Torch: fifteen to twenty-five high runes
As you can clearly see, Paladins wreck all, because of high demand.
stfu, Tav, quick trying to ruin my dreams. I freakin' hate you. Not really, but... O_o. ANYWAY, Tav(or anyone), find me a pul rune? Please? I (sort of) love you? I want what I believe is called a dream. I have the IO and whatever other rune is there, I can't remember. but yes, find me a pul darn you! :c)
LOL Io + Jah + Pul. Helms ftw!
I thought this was a somewhat interesting find.
And I have a Pul.
And one question: if you don't kill the Cow King, can you keep on going back to the Cow level?
heh, I'm at school and won't be on till friday, ASSUMING the extra 13 inches of snow we get (we've already had 16 and no snow day) causes a snow day. and I hope to god it does. Also, thank you. if you're not on say...6pm Friday-2am Saturday, let me know. And I'll see what I can do lol.
No, you're quite right. They do focus on WoW, since D2 doesn't make money.
If anything, you've heard my rants against Blizzard. I'd be the first to tell you that WoW is getting the focus.
No, I complain about the lag, and the fact that we have been seriously neglected and forgotten.
Damn you WoW players; YOU OWE US! MEGA PWNAGE YOU NEED FROM US!
I say we rise up, and destroy those World of Warcrackheads.
Agreed
I wish people played more.
I'll come back...I'm just taking a break...although I may need to perm my Mule just as a safeguard.
I've had a bunch of social events to go to recently. And the weather has been rather nice lately. But this weekend is the last of my stuff for a while, so I'll be playing again soon.
Tav, you should redo your prices for torches. :cP I got a pally torch for 5 hrs. :cD
I think he was an idiot, seeing as he thought that people could hear him from the trade screen.
I find dying in town to be both the most humorous and frustrating thing.
I was wondering when the LAGMONSTER was going to rear its repugnant head again...
Actually, Deckard Cain killed you. He sneaks up behind you and gives your butt cheek the "Pinch of Death".
Death by BUTTSECKS!
Ouch.
So Tav, what did you say Gore Riders were worth again?
I didn't. But apparently, they go for one high rune, if the person wants it.
If it's ethereal, I'm not sure, since I have one of those.
EDIT: LOL I need an xfer-ness, and quick!
You're up early. I'm currently at work, probably going to be for another hour. If you haven't had one by then, I'll get on when I get home.
I'm going to be somewhere from 2-4PM EST, so I'll get one around 4:30-ish?
To regain my manhood, I went on Diablo for a Andariel, Travincal, Eldritch, Pindleskin, Baal run. I found these, and wondered if they might be of value to anyone:
The first one might be worth something for a mid-level Zealdin, but most Paladins use Runewords for weapons (Hoto, LW, BotD, Exile). The second one is worth mundos, if you can find someone who is willing to pay for it: anywhere from Hel to Gul.
Now that we have become more advanced and have a plethora of runes upon us, it would seem that one should explain high rune values. Unlike other things, highrunes are not based on character, but on usage. Better the runeword and ease of creation, the better the value.
Runes are power.
From highest to lowest, high runes:
Note: the value of Gul is actually lower than some of the middle runes. Values vary slightly, depending on need.
Mal (used in several popular runewords)
Ber (mostly LW, and Enigma)
Jah (used in several popular runewords, and some less useful ones)
Ist (CtA, Magic Find; Ist'ed Baba's are very popular)
Zod (only because it is hard to find)
Vex (Hoto, and some slightly less popular ones)
Um (used in a few runewords, + resistance)
Lo (Fortitude)
Ohm (CtA)
Sur (not sure what they use this one for)
Cham (unsure, but people seem to have lots of them)
Gul (this one is a joke; it's used in one runeword, and it's a useless one)
From highest to lowest, middle runes:
Note: Sol, Shael, Io, and Lum are worth approximately the same. Values vary slightly, depending on need. Amn is traditionally a low rune, but my qualifications are simple synthesis. It is also worth more than alot of the middle-runes.
Pul (used in several different recipes and rune words)
Fal (used in some mediocre runewords)
Lem (when found, can be used in some good runewords)
Ko (used in upgrading items)
Hel (removing runes/gems)
Amn (used in crafting and many +socket recipes)
Dol (Fortitude)
Sol
Shael
Io
Lum
From highest to lowest, low runes:
Note: Low rune values vary depending on mass amounts. Simple synthesis and socket recipes are very important, especially in mass amounts. Values vary slightly, depending on need.
Ral
Thul
Tal
Ort
El
Ith
Eld
Tir
Nef
Eth
Ha! Pwned!
All that and that's all you found?
Edit: Please someone find me a high def helm (prefered eth) no sockets please? Or it can have three sockets, but I doubt that. Of the helms with the def I want (giant skull I think they're called) they've always been two socket. I'm tired of that. I've done 3 hell cow runes BY MYSELF so that no one else can grab the helms, but no, nothing, nothing at all, the only good thing I got out of all that was (maybe) a unique belt (silkweave or something, I can't remember). that and almost half a mil in gold.
I have a Giant Skull, but you're going to have to give me something for it since it's in use at the moment
fair enough
I know that you guys probably won't see this, but I just got 3 SoJ messages in my game, which means that Uber D will likely appear. I obviously can't hold another Annihulus, so I guess whoever gets there right now will get it, if Uber D shows up.
Damn this job that takes up too much of my time. I probably won't be home until 8.
False alarm, he didn't show up.
EDIT: I have stopped requiring xfers. I now request 1000 dollars in order to buy myself a new computer and monitor, in order to play DII on two computers, and in that way, I can xfer amongst myself, in order to not have to bother everyone all the time.
Cimanim, Cruise Control should be asking for/have already asked about a possible donation to the LoD4CC fund.
ADDITION: I wasn't serious about the money, but I am serious about needing an xfer.
ADDENDUM: That's cool, you know, that's alright, you can just ignore me. I'm fine with that. *xfers amongst self*
MAS: Yo necessito un xfer, porque ustedes me hicieron muriendo. DIMELO POR DIOS!
I don't like bumping, but damnit, SOMEONE POST IN THIS THREAD!
You could just PM one of us, Tav, when you need a xfer...
I prefer the posting method, not that you guys are always available at my beck and call.
Btw, I need an xfer, if one of you has time.
But I am, Tav, only for you, my sweet...
I'll be on momentarily.
I'll get on as soon as I'm off work. Hopefully that will be around 6ish.
Edit: Oh, you'll get one soon. Nevermind then I suppose. I'll still be on later though.
An endless amount of thanks to both of you!
One of these daysthese boots will walk all over youyou will be showered with gifts.
EDIT: I need yet another xfer, so when you get on, SRL, I'll need you.
WTF? How do you accrue that many items in such a short amount of time?
I'll be on as soon as this RNA decides to finish dialyzing. Hopefully it will be done in another 30 minutes.
I made a Barb called Big-Meats.
I have no idea what the smurf I'm doing, but it is rather fun to run around hitting things.
I'm in Eoff/trout at the moment, but as of right now, I am eating a lovely Szechuan chicken stir-fry; thus, I am presently AFK.
I hate you (<3 Chicken). On a brighter note, Barbarians are fun, but we die. And Iron Maiden.
Back to hitting things with... things.
And yeah, I've seen a few Barbs just flat-out disappear due to Iron Maiden.
ME BARB LOL. ME BIG BIG HIT. OH NOES!!! ME BIG HIT ME?!!! LOL@BIG DEAD BARB BODY
You die now *casts Life Tap*
Big-Meats made it to level 13 before I got lazy and bored and watched him die.
lol, I'm makin a barb, planning on him being a berserker w/ axes. he's only 15 now though, but I'll end up playing him eventually.
*spams "xfer me please"*
bone necro named riku-killer
Is that your account, or your character name?
character
I need your account name, otherwise I won't be able to add you (I don't manage things by character name).
white-wolf39 or white_wolf39
Both accounts are yours/in your possession, and passwords known?
How do I know I can trust you?
When do you usually get on (also give a timezone, please)?
Remember that we are on USEast, Ladder.
dang i got to make a new account on east i only play on west but i will make a new account on east tho
BtV plays on West, too, but he's busy closing your "welcome back" threads.
i know he already did it and there was only one
I would consider Dark Carnival a "welcome back" thread, because of the fact that you made them within a few minutes of the others. Ergo, "welcome back."
oh ok you guys always ruin my fun
The internet is serious business.
i realise but its also for fun is it not
I do hope you realize that I was being sarcastic.
i know
The hell Hell Forge has been good to me once again. Last time I got an Ist, this time I got an Um. Yay for high runes.
My SRLlycan is about to max rabies. Rabies is fun.
Eww, Um is low, but at least you didn't get a Gul. I found another Um whilst doing a Baal run (which makes this number two Um in Worldstone). SRL, can you get on now, or are you at work?
im going to make a story slightly different than the real thing.its going to be about wen i kill andy
Um is low I know, but still a high rune. And yeah, Gul would have been *gag*.
I'm still at work. I leave soon though.
I've decided I like axes.
So what runeword should I try and get for my Barb?
Famine
Phoenix
Doom
Death
Breath of the Dying
Beast
Grief
???
And Tav, I want my Tarnhelm back, if you could.
Tomorrow, you can have your Tarnhelm.
Most Barbarians either use LW or BotDas these are the only ones that deal massive amounts of damage without some involved strategem, and are the simplest to make (but not the cheapest). Also, only use Berzerker Axes, since they do the most damage for one handed Axes. A Zerker MUST be used for BotD and LW, since thse are the only ones that can support 6Os. Grief and Beast can be used on Ettin Axes. The others aren't worth it, in my opinion.

>< Please?
Edit: Nevermind
Big-Meats is at Travincal now, at level 24. I would have finished Act II tonight if I hadn't been restricted...
Restart your comp and try again.
assuming you meant restricted from the server and not "restricted"
Hey Tav, if the offer still stands, I have an elite polearm, and an Ist and Mal, so all I would need are the two Bers. :D
Lol, 20 games of Louis? someone was BORED. :c)
The world will rue the day! Ohh, when you make it, I may need it from time to time (or permanently) once I finish my Fire Sorceress, but I doubt that I'll finish her Baal runs any time soon. Someone accidentally finished my Baal Quest in Normal, so I either need to NM Cows or do the full Glitch Rush, and Chaos until 60. I don't feel like deciding.
I should be on later today. The only real reason to use an Infinity is for Trap Assassins, and Sorceresses (which I am aware that you have more of me). My Druid uses Insight, so no worry there.
OMG, someone get on! >< lilith and her poison tits are pissin' me off! >< KILL THE BITCH! Thank you.
This is such bull:skull::skull::skull::skull:. I finally get the expansion and it won't read.
Cim, you are a very, VERY bloody smurfing lucky person.
Arreat Plateau can go smurf a goat and go to hell while doing so.
Well at least we (you) found it after your first 20 minutes :cP
also, lou I found a neat looking rabies sword for you, can get it when we're both on. its got one handed, 300% poison +five to rabies 25 poison resist and a few other things.
And now a message(s) from our sponsor:
Giga Guess, what weapon does your Mercenary use?
SRL, have fun with the Infinity.
Cim, I am not boring.
CC, God hates you.
A message(s) from me:
Giga Guess, please tell him what he needs to know
SRL, yes please enjoy your infinity
Tav, yes you are
CC, tav is right god(s) hate you.
Does anyone have a Pul?
Ignore that. My mercenary is now decked out in full battle array, including a Fortitude (pre-existing), Dream Helm, EthDoom Polearm, and awesome-ness. As a result, I made SRL an Infinity, and gave Giga Guess my old Arioc's Needle. I'll be giving him my Fortitude from my Paladin's mercenary at a later date, if he needs it, and I'm sure he does (or whoever gets to it first).
Thanks Tav! My next trick is going to be making a working Fire Sorc (Which if either SRL or Cim drop out, could well be screwed... O_o)
I'm not dropping out lol, I've always made an ice sorc. Not sure why yet, but I do it.
Eh. Fire's a ton of fun anyways. :p
[EDIT] 3O Colossus Voulge. Any good?
So is indoctrination.
I dueled some level 9 Auradin who thought he could take my Meleemancer. He didn't make it past one mage. I got one Ice mgae, three poisons. Froze, poisoned, and my warriors pwned him. Twice.
Then I ditched him in the Canyon of the Magi.
Baal is a bitch
Not anymore mothersmurfer
This is the first time I've looked at this thread :(
Congratulations: you are now part of the 9040+ views and 940+ posts.
And I have now made Baal my bitch.
I must say, meleemancer is WAY more fun than a regular necromancer. More fun than my Auradin build. Oh, a question. If I'm building a paladin around Might, should he have very fast weapons?
In general, you can sacrifice some attack for more attack speed. If you hit for 100 once per second, you do less damage than if you hit for 75 twice per second. That's an extreme example, but you get the gist. And if you have the Might aura, you are probably at least doubling that difference. If the weapons don't differ too much in damage, and the less powerful weapons hits the enemy more often than the more powerful one, go with the less powerful one. You'll end up doing more damage. You'll also end up repairing more, but that's trite compared to killing a monster. On the other hand, if you have a socketing quest, then you can always socket the more powerul weapon with a Shael, and that should even things out.
Tav, I am quite enjoying the Infinity. And I started doing public Baal runs, which are fun. People seem to like my merc. And someone even give me gold to revive my merc when I enter someone's tp into a hoard of Gloams, and her lightning resist I think is like 3 or something. But that is the only time my merc has died since I got the Infinity. Good stuff. If you are planning on making another one, or need another 4os elite polearm, I found another 4os Thresher. Countess runs are nice for finding socketed items.
And I also have a 3rd key to terror. So in theory, I could trade a Key of Terror for a Key of Hate, and the other for a Key of Destruction, giving me a key set. And I could trade that for a high rune. Am I on the right path there?
So I found an Ettin Axe, which I will use my nightmare socketing quest to give 5 sockets. Step 1 for a Grief, now just need a Lo and Mal (the other three I have plenty of). And if anyone finds an Archon Plate, either 4os or not socketed, could you hang onto it for me. Thanks a bunch.
I am almost no longer ill, so happy about that.
You automatically fail.
Probably. You'll need +IAS mods (increased attack speed) on weapons as a general rule, but once you get onto LoD, there are a great massing of Runewords that give both. Alternatively, you can socket something with a Shael, which gives IAS, I believe, as SRL has said.
Yeah, that's why people try their hardest to find an Infinity. I may not have all of my Ber runes left, but I'll keep making them when supplies are available. If you are having resistance problems, equip a Fortitude, El Sol Dol Lo/4Os Armor with defense at 450+ (I've got some of those for you). I also have a Rockstopper Sallet with a Tal socketed, so it should cover your resistances and is good with its faster hit recovery.
What are you merc stats?
Difficulty?
Aura?
Helm?
Armor?
Resistance in Hell?
Terror Keys == Hate Key, but two Terror Keys == a Destruction Key.
Ahh, that would explain your absence. Also, I have some 4Os armors, but not Archon Plates. Dusk Shrouds are also good substitutes, but a high defense one of those are difficult to find.
OMG the typos and grammar errors in my last post. *cringes*
So if I get one more Key of Terror I can trade for a key set, awesome.
I have a 4os Scarab Husk with 470ish def and a 4os Wire Fleece with 450ish def. I guess it wouldn't hurt to use those, they are both better than a low end Archon Plate anyway.
So my merc, I have to wait until I get home for all the details, but here's what I know off the top of my head:
Level 83
Level 16 Holy Freeze (natural)
Level 15 Holy Shock (dream)
Level 12 Conviction (infinity)
Infinity Thresher
Dream Grand Crown
Duriel's Shell
All resists maxed.
All of his resists are maxed without Duriel's Shell, so I could probably upgrade him to the Dragon armor I want him to have and give Duriel's Shell to another of my mercs.
And yes, sinus infections are the devil.
I though this sinus infection are mesing with you brain, to, SRL.
You know Dragon is 3Os, right? Sur + Lo + Sol.
Yeah, I was talking about for a Foritude/Bramble/Chains of Honor (in a perfect world). I haven't found a good 3os armor yet, but it's not like my merc is dieing without it or anything. My sorc on the otherhand.
Most Mercenaries use Fortitude when possible. It's realitively cheap, with great mods (including +damage).
Chains of Honor, Dol Um Ber Ist, is usually for people with sucky resistance (Amazons).
Bramble is a Poison Necromancer armor, along with Trang's Gloves, 20/20 Poison Monarchs (4 5/5 Poison Facets), 15/15 Helms (3 Facets), and whatever else they can scrap together.
Well, my Rabies Druid is a poison based fighter too. He's actually wearing Trang's gloves. With Rabies and Poison Creeper maxed, 10 extra skill points to Rabies and Trang's Gloves, I'm almost doing 16k poison damage with Rabies. Add Bramble (especially if it's close to 50%+ poison damage) and I could well go into the 20k range and not add anymore "over X seconds" to the poison damage. I already own cows with this Druid without the Bramble, hell cows will be a breeze if I can get a Bramble and a few other things.
Like 5/5 Poison Facets. Those are a necessity, because Conviction does not affect Poison ratings.
I've been meaning to make a Poisonmancer for some time now, but always thought that I would be smurfed over by the Immunities and the like. Is it possible to have a workable, lovable Poisonmancer?
Poison Facets are your friend.
Also, since the poison tree is only 60 Skill Points, +10 for Curses, this leaves 40 Skills in reserve (Lower Res).
Should I make this Poisonmancer one that just runs around spamming Poison Nova, or one that can actually fight along side his Golem and Merc?
Usually, it's Poison Nova. There's only a small Casting Delay on PNova. Most use Daggers for the synergy, but it is possible to melee with a Poison Necromancer. You'll need a hell of a mercenary, though.
The main 60 points are: Poison Dagger, Poison Explosion, Poison Nova (no pre-reqs).
For the remaining skill points, you can invest an additional 55 points; I suggest:
Corpse Explosion (is Fire based, as you know; Teeth pre-req)
Lower Resist (this also reduces Poison resistance, so max it; pre-reqs)
You probably won't be able to spend the other points.
Poisonmancers are more than workable. Like Tav said, you have 40+ skill points to work with, which means you can make a rather viable back-up attack. You can max Corpse Explosion, build yourself a small skeleton army, use one of the golems, use some revives, you actually have quite a few options. There are only a few monsters that I have seen in the game that have a double immune that work against you (besides the random mods of uniques). All in act 5, there are wraith types that are poison/physical immune. And then there are Skeleton Mages who are poison/fire immune. The wraiths are far more deadly than the mages, and the wraiths appear in the narrow passages trying to rescue Anya. I'd say only having to worry about the immunity of one monster is Hell is a very good build.
Alright, thanks for all the insight Tav. I've always wanted to make one, but I never thought it was possible.
I made one named Mryhnlescas. It's going to be difficult to run about with no Golem, however, so I may need some help later on.
I think Iratha's might be your best bet for a low level set (no weapon). I've got the full thing on mules.
Are you going to start by using Wands or Daggers straight off? Remember, you need high Dex.
I am pestilence incarnate!
my first character was a paladin.then when the exp came out i wanted to try the assassin.love that assassin!!
Been a gamer since,been a gamer still...
So, after a bit of research (Hero editing LOL), I have found out that it's very possible for me to reach these slightly ridiculous numbers:
With Trang-Oul's Wing, Bracers, and Girth, a Bramble Runeword, a 3 faceted Bone Visage, Stone of Jordan x2, Marrowalk (I couldn't recall any Poison boots), Perfect Mara's, and Death's Web Unearthed Wand, I get the following:
-204 Enemy Poison Resistance
+40 Poison Skill Damage
If I were to acquire an inventory of charms (Skillers, a Torch, and Annihilus) I would see the following:
Lvl 43 Poison Skills
Lvl 30 Fire Golem
735 to Lvl 13 Curse, with the exception of a Lvl 32 Lower Resist
Without any boosts from other charms, my Resistances would be:
Maxed Fire
80 Cold
53 Lightning
Maxed Poison
Small charms are easy enough to come by, and so the Lightning resistance ought not be too much of a problem.
A Lvl 43 Poison Nova does 9012-9253 Damage over 2 seconds.
9012 to 9253 * 244% = 21989.28 to 22577.32
Lvl 43 Poison Explosion does 82907 - 87513 damage over 18.8 seconds
82907 to 87513 *244 = 202293.08 to 213531.72
So that's 10760.27 to 11358.07 damage per second
Lvl 30 Golem does 735 - 810 Fire Damage
735 to 810 * 66% = 1220.1 to 1344.6
I am excited to say the least, but I must first find these items... Oh lord, I can only imagine the squirming and trading I'll have to do to get all this!
Another thing I noticed is that Lower Resist at Lvl 32 has the following attributes:
-66 to all enemy resists
Duration 82 seconds
Radius: 22.3 yards (Things a screen and a half away are under this curse by the time I see them)
Thus, I ought to be a Sorc's very lovely friend, even more so if my merc puts on an Infinity.
Conviction does not affect Poison resistances. You may get better results from a Defiance Mercenary (if you melee with your dagger), or a Holy Freezer (yet another element at your arsenal). Insight is a must if you will spam PNova/PExplosion.
Now, as for Stats, they should look something like this, I would recommend:
Str: something in the area of 100 base for an Archon Plate Bramble, 77 for Dusk Shrouds
Dex: either Max Block Rate, or none at all; have you considered using Poison Dagger w/ a dagger? If so, Wizardspike should cover your resistances and caster rate quite nicely (75 Dex), or even a Silence weapon (on a 6Os Crystal Sword, low Dex, low Str; +2 skills and +75 resistance). I don't think any of us have a Death's Web wand on us, now runewords, I can handle.
Vita: all of it, 2 per point, 1.5 per level
Energy: if with Insight Mercenary, none at all, 2 per point/level
You Mercenary should have the normal Mercenary set-up for Casters (ethereal if possible):
Holy Freeze Aura from Defensive Nightmare, a must
Dream Helm (Mercenaries do not share Facet bonuses, unless they have their own)
Fortitude armor (Boneweaves seem the easiest)
Insight Polearm (either on a low Elite or good Exceptional)
If you are considering using Poison Dagger:
Defiance or Blessed Aim from Defense/Combat in Normal (not Hell), or AI mercenary with Faith
Doom Polearm, or BotD Polearm
Fortitude armor (it's a Mercenary staple, to say the least)
Anything with +Str or Lifesteal should work: Stealskull Casque, Natalya's Helm, Guiellame's Helm (Orphan Set), Dream
Now if you'll excuse me from my rant, I have food to eat!
I would rather run around spamming Poison Nova than using Poison Dagger, mostly because with Poison Nova, it hits multiple targets without any chance of missing.
And that's crap that Conviction doesn't effect Poison...
I have a Boneshade that might be worth trading for the Death's Web. I think I'm going to have more fun with the Poisonmancer than the Bone one I have right now.
I'll likely try and get the classic caster setup for Merc's.
I almost have enough for a Dream helm (I think I'm only missing Io, though I think I may have traded both my Puls by now...). I am only missing an Archon Plate and the rune Lo for the Fortitude armour. And I have everything needed to make an Insight, save the ethereal Cryptic Axe...
And I just realized that since I have 3 of the set, I can also cast Fire Wall and Fire Ball, which is a lovely thing for when I encounter enemies with a ridiculous immunity to Poison (Don't some get up to 140 or 180 immunity?)
Does anyone know what Level the Merc's Holy Freeze aura is? I've often wondered this.
EDIT: HOLY smurf! I just realized that a perfect Insight grants +700% Mana recovery... So I will have anywhere from +605% to +730% Mana recovery due to Insight and my items...
Christ...
I have four spare Io runes. Runes aren't too much of an issue.
Few Poison enemies have >120% Immunity. Lower Resist, when against an Immune enemy works at 1/5th ability. You shouldn't worry too much, since Facets are applied afterwards. If Immunity is broken, Facets do full damage, which is more important than LRes working at full capacity, because Facets do not affect Immune enemies until Resistance has been broken.
As for Mercenaries, Holy Freeze, I assumed was always level 10, or it might be based on leveling.
After doing some research, these are Poison Immune monsters, by Act:
Act I:
Skeletons (< 105): Returned, Bone Warrior
SArcher (< 110): All
Hawks (< 110): Foul Crow, Blood Hawk, Black Raptor
Spiders (< 105): Poison Spinners
Act II:
Maggots (< 125): All
Baby Maggots (< 100): All
Vultures (< 110): Carrion Birds
Mummies (< 110): All
Spires: Cannot be broken
Fire Towers: Cannot be broken
Act III:
Mosquitoes (< 110): All
Frogs (< 110): Slime Prince
Spirits: burning Souls (unknown number)
Bone Fetish (< 125): All
Tentacle Beasts (< 110): All
Act IV:
Great Demons (< 100): Nightmare, Venom Lords
Corpse Easters (< 110): All
Act V:
Catapults: Cannot be broken
Reanimated Horde (< 100): Nightmare and Hell, Unholy Corpse, Defiled Warrior
Succubi (< 120): Vile Temptress, Blood Temptress
Defilers (< 120): All
Pain Worms (< 100): Menace Worms
With a level 20 Lower Resist, you cannot break the immunities of those with 110+ Poison resistance, which is only the top two of the "All" monsters categories. Since LRes does 67/5, that is roughly 13%. Facets cannot break Immunity, unless they [monsters and Immunity] have already been broken.
As a result, either your Golem, Mercenary, Party ally, or regular Corpse Explosion (should you opt for it), can deal damage otherwise. This is a rather sizable number of enemies, and unlike most others, Poison Immunes are found in popular MF areas.
I suppose it doesn't really matter, since the whole point of the Holy Freeze aura is to slow the enemy, not dramatically hurt it. And the reduction of speed kind of plateaus at around Level 10 anyways.
Hmm, with this build, there will be Fire, Lightning, Cold, Meditation, and Thorns auras dancing about... I like that idea.
For everything you might need to know about the stats of any merc, go to the link below. This is for 1.10, I don't think anything changed about mercs with the 1.11 patch.
http://www.theamazonbasin.com/d2/for...howtopic=36551
So, I did some trading yesterday and ended up getting 2 Destruction Keys and a War Travelers (low end, but he only wanted a Terror Key for it). So, with a few more Countess runs, and maybe the assistance from someone else (more people=higher chance to drop key), I can easily complete two key sets. And I traded something for a Vex last night, it was late I don't remember. So I have another high rune to trade with, if anyone will that is.
And Tav, if I can't get anyone else to trade, can I trade you my Vex for another high rune you might have (Lo, Sur, Ohm, Mal...I'm not too picky). These runes are a bitch to collect.
Edit: Also, if anyone has a spare Lem, I have a Pul that I don't see myself using in the near future. Pul's are used for Dreams, I hear several people wanting a Dream helm at the moment.
>Cruise Control< >I went to E.B. Games and they didn't have Diablo 2. Man I must get it.<
So basically, it's level 16 HF. Nothing changed for Mercs since 1.10, so that's no worries.
As for Keys, I don't bother with them, because no one has a character that can solo Tristram in Uber (IE a Smiter). I usually give mine to rusherkilla.
I have a Lem, but I don't know if I will use the Pul quite yet. Perhaps I could use another Hoto.
And sometime during our game, we were RUDELY interrupted by this son of a gun.
Good, I'm glad Marick caught up with y'all. He IM'd me earlier today asking if the group was still active.
Not until I break my fingers will we not be active.
All's I know is we need Nom to be the Charlie to our Angels (Poison to round out the elemental chart.)
[EDIT] Oh, I found this in my travels today. I think it's our solemn duty to start working this page up a bit.
Because I say so dammit! :p
Okay, I just felt it's an eyesore, and among us, I think we could improve it significantly.
I'm sure you mean that I could fix it up magnificently.Yeah, sure, okay.
This is disturbing at best.
SRL, I have a Lem I could trade for that Pul, which I do so very need.
I'll be playing for a good bit tonight, so hopefully my Poisonmancer will get to around 25-30 by the time I quit.
And I found another Poison & Bone Skiller, so that makes 3, w00t! Just six more to go!
EDIT: A lethal combination of Pokemon and my girlfriend seeing me has caused this plan to stall...
nom, if you still haven't up graded the equip for your barb, I've got more weapons you can use. :c)
Like an Ethereal 4oS Cryptic Axe and 3oS Ethereal Archon Plate?
0_o
So if anyone needs one, I have a 4os Monarch.
So, last night I completed my Elemental Merc. I have yet to field test him, but he has 4 auras going on him at once. It just looks cool, and I can imagine if I rush someone in normal, and maybe even early nightmare, if I teleport kind of slowly I could level someone up in no time.
I now have an Ist and a Vex (I think), which I wish to trade for a Sur and an Ohm. It's time for a Bramble. Also if anyone has a Lo, I have a Wire Fleece with El Sol Dol in it, just put the Lo in and a Fortitude is made, only 111 str req. And finally I have a 5os Ettin Axe, and I plan to make a Grief out of it (with someone's help of course).
*WARNING* The following is me being bored at work and rambling. Read at your own caution.
I was just thinking of something for us Angels (I'm guessing that Fire is Sabrina, Lightning is Kelly and Cold is Jill??? ). While my merc is good to go with the Conviction aura, which breaks immunities, with the -45 to Lightning resist (low end, but still does the job), there are no monster in the game that will remain immune to lightning with this setup. There are however monsters in the game that will remain immune to cold and fire. If we are all going to be together doing stuff, it would be pointless for all of us to have an Infinity, and I don't think the Convictions would stack. And so I propose the following. It's expensive, and might seem a tad unorthodox, but it will work if we are all on screen at the same time.
Cold Sorc:
Defiance Act 2 Norm merc
Doom elite polearm
Armor and Helm can vary (need research)
Fire Sorc:
Cold Act 3 merc
Phoenix crystal sword
Phoenix monarch
Armor and Helm can vary (need research)
Ok, so that's several expensive runewords, especially the Pheonix's. However, with this setup, the following would happen if we were all on the screen at the same time. My conviction will -85 to enemy elemental resists, and break immunities. However, only -17 when immunity is broken. With the Infinity, there will be an additional -45 to enemy lightning, so that takes care of all lightning immunes. With Doom, there will be an additional -40 to 60 to enemy cold, which will take care of all cold immunes. With the two Phoenix's, there will be an additional -56 to enemy fire, bringing the total up to 73, not quite enough for those 180 fire immunes. However, if one of the sorcs (preferably the fire one) is wearing at least 4 pieces of Tal's set, including the orb, then that's an addition -15 to enemy fire, which will get the job done. So that breaks the immunity of every enemy in the game that Conviction will work on (a few are immune to Conviction's effect), and thus make we Angels unstoppable. Not to mention this setup will also give us a level 20-30 Redemption aura, which will make enemies into our little potions and render Nilhatak corpseless, and make the act 3 merc a better version of the act 2 Prayer merc.
In retrospect, I do realize that if we are indeed all on the screen, we don't even need the Infinity, no enemies will be able to resist all of us. I was just thinking out loud, and again I'm REALLY bored at work right now.
/rambling
If I tag along, that's another -66 to all enemy resists.
If anyone's got a Ribcracker I may consider jumping back into the fray ;) I just want my Ribby back :(
Why do you want the Ribcracker so very much?
But, no, I haven't come across it as of yet.
I figured it was for a barb. I'll see if we can buy you into the fray if I ever find one.
I need it.
I have an Ohm. If you get on tonight, I'll be there.
They still get hit by Lightning attacks. Maybe Poison.
No Auras stack, unless it is the case where one has an Aura equipped and an Aura granted by an item. In all cases, the stronger overrides the other.
If Immunity has not yet been broken, those mods that say "-to enemy resistance," such as Doom, Infinity, or Facets have no effect. Assuming that they do have an effect, they apply to only the character that possesses these abilities.
Refer to above. If for say, a Mercenary has an Infinity equipped, and an enemy has not yet had his Immunity broken, that -55 LiteRes does not get calcuated. The game will assume that the Immunity is still in place.
140+ resistance levels cannot be broken. This has been tested and proven by many people, with high level Convictions and Lower Resistance curses.
People use the Prayer Mercenary? This is new.
It's a nice concept, but very difficult to make, and is probably going to not work as expected.
I may have one, but I'll need to check.
But if immunity does get broken, those "-X to enemy ____ resist" do start to go into effect right?
I already mentioned that: no. Facets and Infinity possess this mod, but they don't reduce Immunity any further than what was already there, if Immunity has yet not been broken (<100).
For instance, an enemy has 101 Fire Immunity remaining, and you had all 5/5 Fire Facets in your equipment, 6 (weapon), 3 (Helm), 4 (Armor), 4 (Shield); that's 17*5, equalling -85 resistance.
Guess what? If Immunity >100, that's not divided by 5, and applied as 101-85/5, Immunity is going to stay at 101.
Immunity MUST BE BROKEN for the "reduce enemy resistance" mod to effect.
Oh when you say breaking immunity you mean reducing it to less than 100, I see. The wording was confusing me, my bad.
Yeah, I do that sometimes.
People, Ribcracker is a staff, not a Mace, incase you tried looking it up.
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/ite.../ustaves.shtml
Who thought it was a Mace?
And I still can;t beat Baal's minions, but I can kill everything up till then. Lvl 32 now, which means no more of this Poison Dagger :skull::skull::skull::skull:.
Edit: Oddly enough, I can now kill Baal's Minions, albeit a very unorthodox and tedious process, not to mention strange... I basically have to herd these things and then separate them into pairs.
Tried going after Baal at 34, and then got stuck at around 1/2 his life. So I leveled until I got tired of this process at level 37.
I should probably just get over it and go do public games and leech experience and kiss ass.
lol, yes you should.
I am sitting pretty with Lvl 31 Poison Nova at Lvl 45. This smurfing rocks - I'm doing 3.5k*25% already.
Apparently Baal's minions of Destruction have a 95% Resistance to Poison: it's no wonder they are smurfing difficult.
Gentlemen, I do believe that they will either be servicing the servers, or installing a new patch. I recently have found that several servers have gone down, and accompanied by a red message indicating so, in the attachment. This could either be a ladder reset, patch, or servicing.
I'll bring you more information once I know what is going on.
Read this for LoD patch history. There is also a "problems fixed" patch batch in your DII folders in the guise of a notepad file. In case you are too lazy, I have uploaded it for convenience.
If it is servicing, then it's because of WoW. Simple as that.
Ladder Reset, then a middle-level RustStorm will be run, deleting most duped, non-changed ID items deleted, and characters and items moved to the normal Realms.
If it is a new patch, then it will require both of the above, the first patch since 2005.
LOL, me and Baal runs.
So Tav and I made as many Ladder-Only items as we could. I think it would be advisable that everyone does the same.
