What's the Lvl Req for Ancients in NM?
EDIT: "40 - you dolt" said god.
EDIT2: I need to xfer some things after I wake up.
Made it to Lvl 74 - can almost do 10k with no lower resists in place now.
I played this game all smurfing day, and night. My eyes are so smurfing blood shot, OMG.
Now, I'm pissed. Some dick with a key generator generated my key. Its in use. Four weeks till I get a new one.
I lied in my last post - I got to Lvl 75 and can now do over 10k. Yay, go me...
Just need to get my Merc up to par, and find myself a Ethereal 3oS Bone Visage and 4oS Ethereal Archon Plate
NOTE: I do still need that xfer
You'll never be able to find or afford ethereal items for Mercenaries, until you have at least something else already in place. For now, stick with your Dream helm, and, if you can make it, Fortitude. If not, I'll lend you an armor.
I found a shield. Any takers? I wouldn't ask, but its pretty good for early on. Also, is there anyway to fuse runes, like you can gems?
Yes. It's 3 runes to next rune, until you get past Thul. To make a Thul-->Amn, you begin needing gems.

And the ballad is over. You guys lagged out right when I logged in.
I is saddened greatly. :(
Is that uber diablo you were talking about?
Yeah, the one that drops Annihilus and is based on the sale of Stones of Jordan. Server-wide event.
It's one of those "bright ideas" that Blizzard had to reduce SoJ duping. Let's just say it doesn't work.
Per Cruise Control's orders, I have decided to compile a list of all socketed items that are worth being kept. I could give a reason why, but that might take awhile. Then again, nothing hurts, because I have been IPBanned temporarily from the realms.
Chances are, you won't have to worry about finding these in Normal, with a few exceptions. These are considered the most popular and high priority items. The major criterion are runewords. In all other instances, they should be requested to be kept, because keeping an eye for these [those that are mentioned] items will help out the group the most.
Ethereal and Superior also play a role in certain items. When ethereal applies to armors, it is considered "for mercenaries." This is not always the case, however, as Ethereal affects weapons and Indestructible runewords, making them even better!
Rune words link!
And the other one.
Any three socketed Exceptional or Elite helm. Can be used most frequently by Dream, (Io Jah Pul) and Delirium (Lem Ist Io). Two socketed helms are very easy to find, so noth worth mentioning. Lore (Ort Sol), that it is! Barbarian Helms and Druid Helms are less popular variants on the Lore, and are class-only.
Any three or four socketed armor, with a defense rating of at least 425-450+, and of the following classification: Mage Plate (preferably above 250 defense), Dusk Shroud or Archon Plate. Also acceptable are (in order or priority), Wire Fleece, Boneweaves, Scarab Husks, and Wyrmhides. These are found in frequently used runewords, such as Fortitude (El Sol Dol Lo; the Mercenary must), Chains of Honor (Dol Um Ber Ist), and the ever-popular Enigma (Jah Ith Ber). These armors also have the property of being worth a high rune.
Four socketed Monarch shield. Those of the higher Strengths are often considered "too high" for most effective spellcaster builds. Monarchs are the lowest requirements of the shields that can support four sockets. The only reason is for Spirit (Tal Thul Ort Amn), a cheap yet effective runeword.
The next topic, Paladin Shields, all take four sockets with a socketing quest. These critieria are 40+ resistance, because of Spirit (Tal Thul Ort Amn). However, Exile (Vex Ohm Ist Dol), takes ONLY Ethereal, Elite Paladin Shields. The criteria is the Knight's prefix (+52% enhanced damage), or the Chromatic prefix (+35-45 resistances).
Gloves, Boots, and Belts don't have sockets.
Three, four, five, or six socketed Ettin and Berzerker Axes. Small Cresents are also acceptable, but few popular weapon runewords are used with four sockets. The criteria in this case is damage. These armors also have the property of being worth multiple high runes.
Four socketed Hydra Bows. Diamond, Crusader, and Ward bows are also accepted. The criteria for these bows is damage.
On mentioning bows, I also bring up the Amazon bows, of which only four socketed Grand Matron bows are acceptable. This is because of the Faith runeword (Ohm Jah Lem Eld). These armors also have the property of being worth a high rune.
You can ignore Crossbows. They are not fast enough, and their requirements often too high. Also ignore Daggers and Javelins. In fact, I'm not even sure that they support any runewords.
Four or five socketed Flails. This is most popularly used with Hoto (Ko Vex Pul Thul) and Call to Arms (Amn Ral Mal Ist Ohm). These "caster" runewords are not recognized by Diablo II's runes system, as the note says, as are used because of their anemic requirements.
Four, five or six socketed
Crystal Swords, Phase Blades, and ETHEREAL Colossus Blades (not Colossus Swords!). These have the popular goody-goody-ness (along with Axes) of being able to support one-handed runewords, such as Last Wish (Jah Mal Jah Sur Jah Ber), Grief (Eth Tir Lo Mal Ral), BotD (Vex Hel El Eld Zod Eth), so on and so forth. Spirit (Tal Thul Ort Amn) and Silence (Dol Eld Hel Ist Tir Vex) are used as "caster" weapons, whilst Honor (Amn El Ith Tir Sol) is used in low-level-dueling. These armors also have the property of being worth multiple high runes (if in a severe demand; otherwise, only one high rune).
Ignore Scepters, Throwing items, Wands, Sorceress Orbs, and Necromancer Shrunken Heads.
Always keep ALL Four socketed Polearms. Always. Five sockets are also acceptable, in certain cases. Do I have to mention Insight (Ral Tir Tal Sol) and Infinity (Ber Mal Ber Ist)? Doom (Hel Ohm Um Lo Cham) is like sex, but better. Not an intentional reference to the video game of the same name.
Lastly, Assassin Katars only take three socketed Elite Claws, due to Chaos (Fal Ohm Um), but this class can largely be ignored.
EDIT: Well, I guess now is as good a time as any, Mulley.
This is REALLY gonna piss you off, Tav, but RebellionCraft the traps assassin was decommisioned WEEKS ago. That bitch really, REALLY sucked. So, I deleted her but yes, I just relealised that I had the private message you sent. Want to just say smurf it and move on with life, or do you still want me to send you my information?
Tav, you think I could get that Dream helm?
And maybe an Insight?
Additionally, could I ask that everyone keep an eye out for small charms with Lightning Res on them? My Lightning resists in Hell are abysmal.
Lored Barb-helms with +3 to BO can be very popular.
Don't forget Treachery (Shael Thul Lem), which is one of the best defensive armours in the game, and a damn sight cheaper than Fortitude, CoH or Enigma. The major disadvantage is it's lack of +ED%, but on characters like Amazons that's not much of a concern (plus it comes with 45%(!) IAS, which is the most IAS you can get besides a 4-fevored jewelled armour).
In most cases, a Crusader bow is preferrable to a Hydra Bow since the Minimum damage on a Crusader is more than a Hydra, and higher minimum damage is preferrable to a higher maximum damage if the average damage is the same (it's all maths apparently, but I have it on good authority that min damage is always better).
Don't put crossbows by the wayside so quickly! Shapeshifting Druids (and even Barbs if you're feeling fruity) can use Crossbows in their shifted form. With a high amount of IAS they can get as fast as many two-handed weapons. Anyone who's made a Buri druid will know the fun you can have. Javelin's don't support runewords, but Daggers do. Fanged Knives can have any "melee" runewords up to three sockets, and Legend Spikes can accomodate anything up to two sockets. Unfortunately most of the better weapon runewords are four sockets up.
Don't forget Oath. In an ethreal Scourge the damage is just sickening.
Don't discount Scepters, Wands and Shrunken Heads entirely. +3 Holy Shock scepters can be used with Holy Thunder for a rather chunky +6 to Holy Shock for Tesladins. Wands can accept White, which is the best runeword for any Bonemancer with the exception of a perfect Boneshade. Necro Heads can accept Rhyme, a rather neat MF/Mid-level caster shield.
It's not. I thought that you had made a new character recently, whose information I did not have (the ExiledRebellion account). However, if there is no new relevant information, this is fine by me; I'm just trying to update the player sheet.
Yeah, sure. I've got them on my mules. Is the Insight an Elite or an Exceptional version? And, I've also got plenty of resistance charms. I'll lend you a few.
To Maxx Power: I didn't include everything, because it was stated that things to be kept are the most popular, or community serving, being either the easiest to use (is ownage) or easiest to make (Spirit, anyone?. Ever since 1.10, many builds have been seriously depowered or unpopularized.
We don't really play too many Barbarians, so it's not really worth it to keep every BO helm that we see. By now, there are better options for lower characters, and Barbarian helms have littered the Ladder.
Yes, Threachery, not that I see it too often anymore. It would fall under the category of a reason to keep an armor.
It usually is, but with Strafe, this is mostly nulled out.
Crossbows have been seriously depowered since 1.09. Buriza is very unpopular now-a-days. The requirements are also too high, and if you plan on making a ranged weapon runeword, it won't work on Mercenaries. The Amazon could use Crossbows, but GM bows are far better the option.
Haven't seen too many Oath runewords around lately. These can also go into Berzerker Axes, which are just as sickening.
The thing is, these are rather easy to find, especially the Necromancer heads, and that if you kept all of them, it would saturate the Necromancers.
While all these points are somehow true, Maxx, there's alot of things that don't get accounted for anymore, since patch changes have messed things up, very few builds are viable in Hell. Compared to something, it's easier or more useful to obtain something else. Everything here is something that they should majorly keep, otherwise I would kill them. In other instances, I would only be saddened, but I can't make EVERYTHING (unless I start duping, which will not happen).
I just saw the stats for Silence...*drools*
...just trying to help... :(
We need more Maxx Power love on USEast.
I don't know, ask Mulley. He's the one that picked out the color.Quote:

Gentlemen, this is a sad moment in the EoFF Diablo II and for the whole forums, as a result. Cruise Control was banned by the Cat Lady. We all saw it coming, but we never thought it would be like this: in fact, he wasn't even online whilst banned. But as a person, he was a good person. He repaired East Orthodox and Western Catholic relations, and opened up dialogue between Christians and Muslims. Able to sit down and talk not about the differences, but the shared common ancestry, he helped to bring the current century's end to a peaceful close. At this time, we shall put up the smoke, in order to find a new "new kid." A smiter of idiots, LoD problem plagued boy, and general Staff nuisance, let us take a momoent for Cruise Control.
So that was a productive Rune-using spree I had with Nominus (seems like only around him, do I have a spree). Spirits, socketed high end weapons. Stuff, ya'know.
As for Maxx Power, he should not have lost against Shiny in the name tournament. Unlike Shiny, his name is Maxx Power! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it, you mustn't fear, for his name can be said by anyone!
Also, remind me to make these updates the next time I announce a "player sheet update." And here is it:

It does seem as though I give way to you going on rune sprees...
How odd...
EDIT: What can happen when a person kills you?
All you do is drop the money on the ground when you die, instead of it being lost to the servers.
No experience is lost, but if they camp your corpse, they can make you lose items by making you have more than 16 corpses. The way DII corpse regeneration works is that you only get 16 corpses until they start replacing corpses, and they ony replace the ones that are worth the most value in money, not in actual use.
For example, a corpses with Hoto and Enigma would not be replaced over something that would have magic items on it and could be sold for 35k.
If you are player killed, just leave. Don't go back to leave a second corpse.
This is a particular concern in Hardcore mode.
Alright.
I have left the few times I've been killed (by cheap-shots whilst killing Baal's Minions and Baal himself).
I would understand a standard duel, but cheap-shots where you're allied and then suddenly hostile... it just seems stupid. If you're not expecting 2.5k dmg, you're not going to prepare for it, so how is this even worth doing?
Unless they're just being assholes.
Hostility can only be declared in town, but there is a ten second delay before they can actually hurt you.
Player killing is no new thing. It's done mostly to give people a hard time; the essentially big bully, translated on the internet. However, in Hardcore, this is more dangerous, because that's where Death means Death. Mere screenshots of well known players' ears is considered worthy of real money.
Ahhh, so that's why they leave my party, declare hostility in town, ally with me again, and then suddenly I'm dead?
Or maybe I'm not paying enough attention... But I could have sworn that's how it was done...
If someone hostiles you, either stay with the group of allies (a good deterrent), or quit the game.
EDIT: must... get... xfer... before... death!
I am taking a one or two month break from Diablo; however, if need be, I will be available per request of "baby-sitting" games or by appointment.
Found these (and a Cryptic Axe and now have a socketing quest available)along my travels
Anyone can have them
Do we have any Singing Barbs among us? I just found an amulet with 3 to Warcries.
BtV is, but he doesn't get on too often. It's a college thing. I don't expect him during Spring Break, either.
Hehe, leeching exp is fun. SRLlycan is at level 75, and might I say I'm loving this dtorch I can finally use. Baal went down in no time. Now for hell.
Nom, if I could use your socketing quest, that would be amazing of you. If of course, you don't mind. :c)
Just tell me when you are on via a Pm or something. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to get on when you are, but it's worth a try.
So yes, you can.
SRL, I got that Lo rune.
What does a 5/5 Poison Facet go for?
One or two high runes.
I thought now would be a good time to say this since later I'll have forgotten to mention in it in the load of other things I must get done:
In three months I will be attending Boot Camp for a three month period, during that time I will obviously be unable to access my Diablo 2 account.
This is agonising to me, I've worked far too hard on my account and its characters to simply let it die.
So, I'll ask, whoever is on at that time to please, PLEASE log in to my account(s) at least once during that three month period so that I may keep my lovable characters.
Thanks! :cD
If no one has offered, leave me your account and pass, and I'll keep it alive for you.
Isn't my merc so cute with his Delirium on.
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...F/cutemerc.jpg
So after testing in hell, I have found the chance for Confuse and Terror is very nice, and happens quite a bit, and Mind Blast happens every so often as well. +2 to Skills is nice, which is putting my merc's Defiance at level 20. With the exception of missing an aura, this is a pretty good helm. And the above, although rare, is just really sweet.
Hey, Mulley, do you have the time to update the player sheet? This would be incredibly useful.
Thanks in advance.
Done.
So Tav, last night I got home from work after midnight. Work was just going really really slowly. That shouldn't be the case today.
That's assuming that I can even get on, because I've been realm-downed.
Someone please read this fast. Go to eoff and pick up the stuff on the ground NOW, please. Or giga, if you read this, pick up my stuff.
Edit: Thank you so much Nom!
I got it
Thank you so much. OMG, thank you. I got the five minute IP ban, and I hadn't even come and gone but twice, it was a little ridiculous. Thank you.
I'll be on if you want to get on before you go to bed, I'm chilling in Eoff with Giga.
I guess I will start something
and play religeously until Guild Wars 2 comes out.
Welcome aboard Tsu. Glad you picked that particular moment to join in? :p
Well, after a shaky bit with my parents (getting kicked out even when paying rent is rather fun..), I can now once again get on Diablo regularly due tot he fact that I am now once again home - kind of.
I, for one, am glad that it did not stretch out to a month or so like the last time I got kicked out did.
God dammit, I need to get to college....
boo! I had to log off because a certain someone wanted the internet all to themselves :[
but with help before hand I managed to ding level 7 ^-^
Do the damage bonuses of Concentration, Fanaticism, and Might stack?
Alright, thanks Maxx.
The reason I ask is because I was wondering if I possibly create something called an Auramancer. There are a number of Runewords that grant Auras, and in conjunction with the Act II mercenary, I think the amount and strength of the auras might be quite potent.
However, I don't know if this build is exactly possible, and it would seem that it would be quite expensive without looking too far into it myself.
You and your necromancers, Nom. *shakes head*
Stop using just necros lol.
Druids rule just as much.
I'm going to make every build possible before switching, it seems.
At least I tried a few other classes, albeit only for around a day...
Yes, exactly! Your barb is feeling neglected! FIX THAT! :c)
NOOOO!!! I'm going to make the most expensive build for the Necromancer - the Arua-Commando Mancer!
And then I'll finish my Bone/Jail-Mancer
Or make a Lord of the Magi
Or...
Yeah, I ought to try another class...
But it would so smurfing awesome to have minions that could do ~+500% damage. There would be minions running around doing like 2.5k with each hit, and I don't even know what some revives could do, considering their pre-existing stat-boosts.
I have just recently bought Diablo II + LOD off a
flea market :D. Can anyone of you recommend
a class (and build), don't know what to get myself.
I obviously don't have any money, so
auramancer builds won't happen.
So far I really like the Necromancer but he kind of
lacks a weapon. Sure having minions is nice and all
but neither bone spear or the sprite thing is really
powerfull.
Basically I just want to be able to own PvM very bad,
being able to dish out massive damage.
When saying expensive, we mean such a thing in the rarity of the items.
I obviously love the Necro, as it's basically all I ever play. Here are a few of the most popular builds:
Poisonmancer:
This is by far my favourite build thus far, though to make it truly worth while (7k dmg a second), it requires some very expensive items. The greatest aspect is that it deals massive amounts of damage, and the synergies gained are flat-out ENORMOUS. Additionally, Poison Nova (your main spell to spam) covers almost the entire screen, effectively poisoning mass amounts of enemies at once.
The greatest draw-back is that you have to deal with enemies that have unbreakable immunes, so you need to take on a back-up plan in case you encounter 140 Poison immunes.
An offshoot of this build is one that focuses on the Poisondagger skill. If you like pretending to be stealthy and enjoy running around like a madman while poking things with a puny dagger, than such an offshoot is for you.
I smurfing hated it.
Lagmancer:
Your basic summoner, and probably the type that anyone who has tried a Necromancer has immediately tried grabbing. By the time you hit Level 75, you'll likely have 30+ minions on screen doing your bidding.
Additionally, this build is rather cheap, and it is a VERY rare thing that you die.
However, this build becomes boring, as all you do is walk a bit, watch as your minions kill, maybe throwing in the occassional Amplify or Attract curse.
Also, in online play of Baal, Chaos, etc. runs, most likely no one will party with you as you'll cause such lag that the game will die. Without summons, you are really just a weak Cursemancer, and that then makes you useless - a leech, which no one likes.
Golemmancer:
Are an interesting build that actually has you placing points in energy. I've never gotten very far with it, as it was a style of play that wasn't quite to my taste.
Some Melee-based Necromancers use the Blood Golem as a means of leeching life, or a Clay Golem (Gumby) due to its slow beneifts. Summoning and re-summoning your Fire Golem is akin to being a long-range bomber.
I can't really comment on this build too much, for I never played it for very long. It could be entirely possible, though.
Cursemancer:
You pour everything in to curses. You can't play without a party, which is a major drawback, and having 20 points in Amplify damage is redundant.
Don't be a Cursemancer.
Bonemancer:
In this build, you max every bone skill but the Bone Shield. Doing this grants you massive synergy bonuses.
There is an eternal debate over which is better: Spear or Spirit? It depends on your style of play, really. Spear is faster in both its movement and casting, and it also passes through every enemy. This allows you to hit multiple targets in one cast. Bone Spirit does around twice as much damage as Bone Spear, and it also seeks out targets, allowing you to simply spam the spell without any real direction. However, Bone Spirit costs more, moves slower in both casting and actual movement, and it can only hit one target.
Some Bonemancers use their mercenary as a meat-shield of sorts, while others use Bone Wall or Bone Prison. Bone Prison is a great method of controlling crowds, as enemies will attack it instead of you. Also, at higher levels, it only costs 1 Mana point per cast. And in Hell difficulty, each cast raises a Prison with ~3300 life. The greatest aspect of Bone Prison, however, is that it allows you to fire Bone Spear or Spirits over the wall onto the trapped enemies.
Enemies trapped in a small space just screams Amplify Damage and Corpse Explosion.
However, Bone Prison is going to piss EVERYONE off if you use when in a party. The only exception to this rule is if you are partied with a bunch of Sorceresses, other Bone Necros, or any other long-range attacker or caster.
Meleemancer:
In short, this is the player that decides they are tired of simply spamming spells or simply watching their minions do their work - and so he takes up a sword/spear/whatever and joins the fray.
I have seen this type of Necro used with a Skellimancer quite a bit, and in some circles this earns this type of Necro the name Commando-mancer.
I myself have never tried them, but they do look fun.
The only draw back is that you are going to need Homunculous in order to protect yourself via a high block. Also, Necros don't gain as much Life per level as other classes do, and with each point placed in Vitality, they see a +2 increase, as compared to other classes that might see a +3 or +4 increase.
Some Meleemancers make use of the Poisondagger skill's glitch/in-game feature/cheat, but that's up to you.
Lord of the Magi:
Maxed Skeletal Mages used in conjunction with a Fire Golem (Sparky), Lower Resist, and an Infinity Mercenary. Everything is about elemental damage and resistance reduction in this build.
If you like using and abusing elementals, this is a build that ought to whet your pallet.
Auramancer:
I really don't know if this build will work or not, let alone if I'll be able to afford it. I guess we'll see.
Ask any of us if you have further questions.
And here is a list of all available Runewords:
They had better, because My new Zealdin is going to rely on that. LW weapon, Fanat Aura, Pride A2 mercenary weapon, EExile Shield.
Pride: Concentration
Last Wish: Might
Insight: Meditation
Exile: Defiance
Faith, Beast: Fanatacism
Infinity: Conviction
Doom, Ice: Holy Freeze
Bramble, Edge: Thorns
Hand of Justice, Dragon: Holy Fire
Dream: Holy Shock
Harmony: Vigor
Lawbringer: Sanctuary
Pheonix: Redemption
The ones that matter are Insight, Infinity, Last Wish, Pride, Faith, and EExile.
Paladin or Sorceress. They are the most newb-friendly classes as of right now.
Money isn't a problem. But Auramancers aren't exactly the best idea for someone who doesn't know how the game works. You'll have to play for awhile before you should try it.
The best PvM class is a Frenzy Barbarian. If you need some help, try combing through this thread, or Arreat's.
EDIT: Nom, I found a 3/3 Poison Facet for you. It's crap, but it's still something.
Thanks for the help!
I think I'm going to try a barbarian. Maybe I'll see some
of you on the net . Do you guys like organise a questrun
once in a while for the EoFF members? Would be fun!
Bytheway I'm not entirely new to the game, I've had
it for a half year or something before it (presumably)
got stolen by a "friend". I owned a lvl 30ish sorc, but
the game was cheatable even online. That kind of took
the fun out.
P.S> Is it just me or do these expension character suck?
I hate the assasin, the druid did fine 'till I learnt one of
his higher level attack spells, which sucked (badly).
Most of us are on in sporiadic sprees of killing and hustling. We don't have a truly organized system where people HAVE to show up if possible, and do thing. For the most part, people get on and off as they please or as their time restraints allow them. Personally, I'm almost always on after I come home from school, 3:00PM EST, and play until 10:00PM, unless I've been realmdowned (a temporary IP ban by Blizzard in order to discourage cheating).
As a general rule, don't let people get your password unless they have Password/IP loggers, which they would not admit publicly anyways. As for us, we here don't really steal accounts, since, what's the point? Almost everyone here in the community knows everyone else, and EoFF is generally a board of trustworthy characters, except me. I'm just a bastard.
It's also got runewords, expanded stash, better and more uniques, better Set items, better drop rates, more play options, is more efficient in damage calculation, and some other stuff. Also, the Druid techtrees suck unless you know what you are doing. It's a real advanced character, not that its payoffs are necessarily better.
Question, if you have an aura from a runeword, does the +X to All Skills mod add to the level of the aura?
Edit: I also have a concern. Here is what Arreat Summit says about Rabies:
Rabies is a very lethal attack. It constantly hits the afflicted player with poison damage about every second. Thus, once the target reaches 1 hp, Rabies' next cycle kills the player. The Rabies "aura" cannot be destroyed. Because the source of the poison is untouchable, all the antidotes in the game will not cure rabies directly.
And here is what it says about Venom:
Venom caps the poisoning duration at 0.4 seconds, thus preventing long term poisoning. Consequently, all other items will only inflict poison damage for 0.4 seconds. Example: Though 700 damage over 10 seconds might seem impressive only 28 damage will be inflicted due to the 0.4 seconds cap.
So I am told that a really good weapon for a Rabies Druid is the Grief runeword, which gives a 35% chance to cast level 15 Venom on striking. So, if I am wearing a Grief and I successfully get Venom cast on me, will this reduce my Rabies poison damage to 0.4 seconds and that's it, or will Rabies be fine because the aura can't be destroyed? I'm a little confused.
Yes, unless it's included on the weapon. For example, if you had a Call to Arms, you get 6BO, 6BC. It's affected by, say a Shako or Spirit. However, the +1 skills on your CtA doesn't affect it.
As for Grief/Rabies workability, I'm not so sure. Venom casts its own Poison, while Rabies is separate entirely. However, if it says it caps all poisoning, then Rabies (I think) will get capped at .4 seconds.
Rabies and untouchability is only an action that is taken by the opposing player. Since Vanom is a character's personal formula calculation, Venom overrides Rabies.
I hope you haven't played any runes yet, for Grief. If you have, then no problem, just hold onto it and finish it for a different character. Use a different weapon for your Druid.
I found a Superior Colossus Voulge with four open sockets, just begging for a runeword.
My Poisonmancer is getting owned at Blood raven.
I'm level 6. I just put all possible points in poison
dagger (which is one) leaving me 6 skill points leftover.
Should I keep the points and wait 'till I can stretch them
out over poison skills or should I invest some of it in the
teeth attack?
@Cimanim, thanks but I have to go sleep now :(.
If you're on now, I'll come help.
Depends: are you going for a Bone Necromancer build or the Poison Necromancer build? Meleemancer Summoner or Pure Summoner?
If for Bone, stop investing skills in Dagger, and go for Teeth, and all the "Bone" attack skills. If you are going Poison, then keep going for Poison until you get P(oison) Explosion or C(orpse) Explosion. If Meleemancer, the max out Dagger and Skeletal Summons. For Pure, stop investing, and go Summon skills.
Your call. You can NOT invest them, and simply do some public games, such as Tristram, Tombs, Cows, Ancients, then Baal. You can then spend all of your points as you like at a later time (you won't be able to participate in the killing if you do level rushing, but it's all good).
Another thing worth mentioning is that until you get Poison Nova, the Poisonmancer is going to suck - unless you are skilled with the Poison Dagger skill, which most aren't. That's 26 more levels that might cause some trouble.
Does anyone know of any items that grant BOs besides Call to Arms?
It's a random mod on some items, particularly on Daggers and Javelins, but these are Barbarian only.
So, no. CtA only.
Hmm, I guess I can't really make an Auramancer with many BOs...
+All Skills mods affect Battle Orders and Battle Command.
What do you think would benefit more?
A Summoner Druid
A Skellimancer
I guess a Summoner Druid would be different, because everyone else already has a Necromancer.
I'd advise against a Summon Druid...you don't get the sheer quantity of pets a necromancer does, and, while they are pretty strong, I've found that they just aren't quite enough. now that said, I made a Summon hybrid, but there's not much else a Druid knows that can save you with only a few points invested in case your pets can't hack it.
This is, of course, purely my opinion.
I made an elemental druid and after a I think it was 75 I had maxed out all of my wind skills, which has allowed me to put into my other skills. with all of my items on I have 17 to all of my other skills, so I guess making an elemental would be best and then add to summons?
It worked on me it'll work on you!!
That'll be three easy payments of $99.99
3 Dire Wolves out-classes a full army of Skeletals, by HP, Attack, AR, Defense, Attack Speed, and efficiency. Not only can they be spawned from thin air, they also improve themselves by consuming corpses. Bears with full Synergies is a TANK. Literally, a tank.
Now, they won't be quite as affected by Auras on the level that Skeletals can, they are still able to act, even when against a boss. A Bear is specifically a boss killer.
Like I said, I'm going for the poisonmancer.
I still have a tiny question, Does poison stack?
example: If I hit someone with poison dagger for 7-19 over
2 seconds, dealing proximately 6.5 each second (right? 7+19=26,
26/2=13 average over 2 seconds is 6.5 each second), and
then hit the mob again with poison dagger dealing another
7-19 over 2 seconds. Will all the damage stack? Meaning that
for a second I will do 6.5 + 0.5x6.5=9.75 a second?
And does the poison from a necromancer shield stack with
poison dagger?
muahahaha I cannot wait to have Dire Wolves at my Whim~
Before my computer crashed. I managed (thanks too an awe-inspiring level 7x Druid <3) too almost ding! 11 inside that sewers place.
As far as I know, you can't stack Poison Skills, but you can stack Poison Damage found directly from weapons or charms.
For example:
Poison Nova effects the enemy for a set, solid 2 seconds. During these 2 seconds, casting Poison Nova again will not cause any more damage, nor will it reset the timer due to the fact that Poison Skills do not stack or reset eachother.
As for the Poison Dagger, it will not cause any more poison damage with each strike, but it will deal the base physical damage of your dagger. However, you will still benefit from the magnificent Attack Rating bonus all the same.
I honestly cannot comment beyond speculation in concerns of the Poison Damage stacking with Poison Skill damage. Something tells me that they do not as it doesn't seem as though the more "potent" poison overrides or stacks with the lesser.
But I really don't know.
What I do know is that Poison Damage factored into your Normal Attack can be found from a myriad of places: shrunken heads, weapons, gloves, charms, etc.... So you can end up with a fairly high Normal Attack also. Really don;t know if this stacks with poison skill damage, but something tells me it doesn't.
QUESTION:
When making a crafted item, does the character's lvl taken into account while placing the new mods? And does the item's lvl effect anything?
I am pretty sure it has to do with the item's level, but I wanted to be sure. Also, is there any possible way to somehow figure out what level the item is?
From what I read, it's all about item level. And the jewel has nothing to do with what you get, it just needs to be there, so it can be as craptastic as you want, it doesn't make a difference.
And I did a little reading, Rabies doesn't do continuous poison damage, it does poison damage about every second for it's duration, and thus is not affect by Venom's poison cap. What does happen however is that the damage from Venom replaces the first hit of poison Rabies does, or maybe adds to it. After that (if this doesn't kill the enemy) Rabies will act normally. So getting a Grief is back on. :D
Edit: New account, it had to happen sometime. The new account is rlw1980. I made other characters on my first account that I didn't do much with that ended up being mules. So everyone, add my new account to that good old friend list. And now I present:
SRLmartyr
This character is a Paladin that will brandish the Sacrifice skill as his main weapon, while using a full powered Fanaticism aura, backed by a Redemption aura. I will have a somewhat powerful Zeal as a back-up for non-leechable monsters, or end up finding something that gives Life Tap. So I will mainly be looking for good Life Leech items. I have a String of Ears belt, which is a good start I suppose. And if I am playing with a Necro, if we come across skeletons and other non-leechable monsters, if you like me you'll use Life Tap instead of Amplify Damage or Decrepify, and what's not to like about me? :D
Hey, that's a good thing, SRL. That would have been a right shame had you not been able to use Grief simply because Venom would override the awesomeness of Rabies.
After a bit of research and playing around with Hero Editor, I have happened upon a build of Commandomancer that most definitely whets my pallet.
This build is all about Auras and Runewords.
I would be wearing the following:
Beast Berserker Axe/Legendary Mallet/Caduceus
Fortitude Archon Plate
Phoenix Monarch
Dream?* Grand Crown
Call to Arms and Spirit on Switch
Dracul's Grasp Vampirebone Gloves
Nosferatu's Coil Vampirefang Belt
Stone of Jordan
Wisp Projector Ring
Mara's Kaleidescope
Sandstorm Trek (Ethereal would be godly)
4 Summoning GCharms (Ought to be able to trade for these)
*The helm is up to debate - I'm not sure what to grab.
It's either Vampiregaze, Trang's Helm, Dream Bone Visage, Giant Skull 2oS, or Shako. I have all but the Vampiregaze.
I am also going to start stockpiling the AR GCharms I seem to be finding left and right.
The mercenary would be a Might Merc
Pride Crytic Axe/Colossus Voulge
Bramble Archon Plate
Delirium?** Bone Visage
**Again the helm is up to debate.
Of all the items mentioned, I am missing 8 (Beast, Phoenix, CtA, Dracul's, Nosferatu's, Wisp Projector, Pride, and Delirium)
I'm not even going to think I will ever get an Anni or Torch, but whatever...
Yeah, I know, expensive as smurf...
However, in the end, I am granted the following auras:
Lvl 9 Fanaticism
Lvl 20 Thorns
Lvl 15-20 Redemption
Lvl 15 Holy Thunder
Lvl 1-20 Might
Lvl 20 Concentration
And a Lvl 5 heart of the Wolverine to provide additional AR and Dmg
Also, if I decide to invest in an Iron Golem instead of my usual Fire Golem (I just can't say no to Sparky, it seems), then I would be able to conjure up an Infinity or Insight or Doom Iron Golem, which would allow myself and my minions to benefit from an additional aura. However, that seems risky, and I would much rather see a mercenary holding that item rather than watching it fall apart because my Iron Golem was surrounded by cows...
I spent my points as follows:
112 in Strength
95 in Dexterity
283 in Vitality
0 in Energy
I spent my skills as follows:
20 in Skel Mastery
20 in Raise Skel
20 in Raise Skel Mage
1 in revive
1 in Clay Golem
1 in Blood Golem
1 in Iron Golem
20 in Fire Golem
1 in Golem Mastery
1 in Summon Resist
1 in Amp
1 in Iron Maiden
1 in Life Tap
1 in Decrep
1 in Lower Res
1 in Terror
1 in Teeth
1 in Corpse Explosion
This leaves me with 19 skill points I don't know where to put. I thought of placing them in Bone Armor, but for that to be of any real use, I need to fill synergies. Alas, 19 points didn't seem enough as it only made the Bone Armor around 350 life...
I may place them in Golem Mastery or Blood Golem to have my Fire Golem be a better tank.
Placing 20 points in Golem Mastery made my Fire Golem have 2500+ HP in NORMAL, but I don't really think that such an act is really advisable.
Once I had all my items equipped, these were my stats:
340 Strength
184 Dexterity
361 Vitality
273 Energy
This means I have:
2498 Life
780 Stamina
516 Mana
3972 Defense
An AR of 3194
Can inflict 3411 - 4985 damage
Not too bad, and really quite well for a Necromancer, if I do say so myself. But the real greatness is had in all the skells running about.
230+345+93 = 668% increased damage
My Skels sat at around 350 damage without any auras. Once they were under the auras' effects, they were capable of dealing 2338 damage per hit.
And then there is the Bear I can summon, which also benefits from said dmg bonuses. 500*6.68 = 3340 damage.
My Merc was doing 927 - 2721, but I may yet give him a Fort instead of a Bramble.
This is not taking into effect when I switch to CtA and give BOs to my troops.
With this build my resistances are also maxed in Normal, sitting at
85 fire
75 Cold
85 Lightning
75 Poison
But really, the bottom line is that this particular build looks rather fun, mostly because there are a :skull::skull::skull::skull:-ton of auras dancing about and the fact that I can turn into a bear and lumber about. Instead of simply watching, I can actually do something for once.
If you actually read all this, thank you, and if you have any comments or suggestions, it would be most appreciated.
Ooooh...an Oculus looks very nice.
[EDIT] Here's what I need, if anyone can comply. I need a decent (Low Level...low enough for my Sorc to use) 2 socket shield, and a Hellplague Sword, prease.
Too bad an Occy is useless. Eschuta's is better for a Fire Sorceress.
I've got a low Splendor shield I can lend to you, and a Hellplague.
Giga, I could have sworn it was you that I gave the fire eschuta to.
I hope it was lol.
How is an Occulus useless? At least an Occulus is consistent. If you find an Occulus, it will always have +3 to Sorc skills, not to mention all of it's other nice mods. If you find an Eschuta's, you get +1-3 to Sorc skills, and +1 is craptastic, even if you get the full +20% to Fire/Lightning skills with it, and won't boost your skills as much as a simple +3 to Sorc skills will (at least not the lightning ones, and not by a long shot, I can imagine it's the same for fire). A full powered Eschuta's, even with just +10% to Fire/Lightning, is more powerful than an Occulus, yes, but they aren't always full powered, or even mid powered. Not to mention the plus resists, mf, energy, vitality and much lower level req, the only thing that the Occulus might do is teleport you into a pack on monster, which you can easily teleport out of unless you get killed in a single hit or something, which doesn't usually happen since a sorc is ranged and all that good stuff, and by the time it might happen in hell you can upgrade to a high-end Eschuta's. The Occulus is far from useless. Giga, keep your Occulus and equip it as soon as you can.
Compared to Eschuta's? LOL no way is Occy good enough to use in comparison on a Fire Sorc. The damage is way lower, and the Teleport when struck can put you into more dangerous situations than not. Mana Burn and Fanat is one of the most dangerous things to encounter for a Occy Sorc. Fire and Lightning Sorcs use Eschuta's, while Ice use Occy, because their AoE can clear a path, while Fire and Lightning need a target..
I don't think he has an Occy. I'm going from the perspective of having to obtain an Occy, not actual practicality. Even if he did have one, I would find me an Eschuta's, and ditch the Occy.
I didn't say the Occulus is better to use than an Eschuta's. You however said that an Occulus is useless, which it is not. An Eschuta's can be very good, more powerful than the Occulus. It can also suck. I had one with +1 to skills and +17% to lightning skills, and I got more damage from a common +2 to skills orb. The Occulus however is at least consistent, always giving +3 to skills. Not to mention you can wear it at level 42 instead of 72. My lit sorc is wearing an Occulus, and I am more than happy with it. The chance to teleport has yet to even try to kill me. I would be more happy with a +3 to skills Eschuta's, but haven't come across one yet.
Come tell me that when you have +40 or more skills and have died endlessly because of Teleport.
Need... rush... blarg...
My poisonmancer is still getting owned :'(.
At the moment he's level 17 but it takes SO
(smurfing? :P) long to level. I die too much
at ACT II and I also die in the catacombs and
inner cloyster. Training anywhere below there
just doesn't give me enough XP. Suggestions
anyone?
P.S. Does anyone know the HP and defence a lvl 17
should have? 'cause I'm taking damage fast, put
4/9 of my points in vitality though.
Nominus don't give in!
whats your character
lets play on eoff//trout :D
edit: Assassin is my favourite class. I might make one of those again. ... sometime. because there is really only one build you can take through the game without being extrodinarilly gimped till level 30. which is Shadow/Martial <3... I have already played one of those >_<
You ought to do Tomb runs at this point for much better experience.
Also, note that Poisonmancers are going to be quite difficult for the first 30 levels, seeing as how you basically have to play "poke and run" with the Poison Dagger skill the entire time prior to acquiring Poison Nova. You have a few options to make it easier on yourself:
You can create a meat-shield.
This can be either a few skeletons, a merc, revives, your golem, or using Bone Wall or Bone Prison as a means of creating a meat-shield.
Remember it only takes 60 skill points to max the synergies of all your Poison Skills, which is quite nice, in itself. However, it's recommended that you place at least 10-15 points in Lower Resist in case you come across some Poison Immune monsters later on. So, in the end, it will cost around 90 Skill Points in order to max your synergies and acquire a formidable Lower Resist. That leaves you with 25 Skill Points to do as you please.
Some choose to make use of a Bone Wall or Prison, while others take a small cluster of Skeletons with them, and still others take the golem of their choosing.
Myself, I choose to bring a Fire Golem along to act as a tank. It takes 23 points to get a Level 20 Fire Golem. Also, you are able to begin using this creature at level 6, which is extremely early in the game.
In my experience, skeletons don't last nearly as long as the Fire Golem (nor do they cause damage to surrounding foes when they perish), revives are too difficult to control, and Bone Wall or Prison makes the game's pace come to a near standstill.
I would go with a Golem companion. Also, don't forget the Act II Nightmare mercenary with Holy Freeze - he's every caster's best friend.
Your other option:
Party with others that can basically take care of you. A standard Poisonmancer build is focused on spamming Nova, and so you are not set to be a melee character. It's a rather frustrating build for the first 29 levels, but once 30 hits, you'll be more than happy.
You might get called a leech or a buffoon for a bit, but most are willing to help a struggling character.
Most everyone knows Poison Dagger is an insanely annoying skill, and only a few bother to master it.
Try seeing if the game EoFF///Trout is currently active or not - that's usually where we all play Normal games. If you pop in, we'll be glad to help.
There's really no set guide as to how much life or dexterity or defense you ought to have at such an early part of the game. I usually place my points as follows:
2 in Strength
1 in Dexterity
2 in Vitality
Don't even bother with Energy (You acquire items that give you enough Mana later on, even with zero points placed in Energy)
Once I reach the Strength required of my planned equipment, I stop placing points in Strength. If I plan to be using a Shield of some sort, I place enough Dexterity points in there in order to attain whatever rate of blocking I choose. Once that is filled to whatever degree I feel is needed, I then pour all my points in Vitality.
At around Level 50 or even lower, every point ought to be able to go into Vitality.
Ah yes.
I'll think I'm going to get a clay golem lvl 1.
What region are you guys in?
I'm in Europe, you guys are prolly all in US.
Finally learned poison corpse explosion, thought it would
make everything better. It didn't. I'm currently running around
with my unique dagger using poke&run tactics. What tombs
should I run then?
Also I'm not carrying around a merc, because the poison kills so
slow she always gets the kills and steals my XP, or so I figured.
xD
no wonder.
:(
US-East.
I't wouldnt be a bad idea to switch over too... I did ^_^
I never find myself having to solo.
I think I'll start over.
It'll be more fun to play with you guys. German people
are really beginning to piss me off (none of em speak english).
Is everyone here in US-east or just you, I don't want to
start over again.
P.S> I'd appreciate it very much if someone could help me
out with low lvl items.
everyone.
Evvveryone :D
so yeah. game name: eoff1
password: trout
I don't know much about rushing. but I will help you through quests and such as much as possible :]]
in fact. if you do it now. I will use a mule character to play n_n
edit: waiting in there as Teraberaux. :)
edit edit: temporary name change. games still up -_-; it is not meant to be.
edit edit edit: ~ De. tristram-1
once done. tristram-2
keep up the good work :D
My internet keeps failing me.
Soz for leaving so abrubt. I'll wont be
playing for a while :(. Anyways, we had a good session :D.
definetly!
sad that you were not there though :[.
managed to get up to level 15 :].
I need someone to make me major transfer.
me :D!
Giga! For a late Birthday present, how would a +1 to all fire skills gc sound?
Cimanim, it sound like I love you very much.
SRL, when you can, I could use you or someone else to finish that rush.
Also, GG, you can give the Hellplague if I get on when you are, or you can toss/sell it. I've got plenty of them.
Also, I've got a new account now, Lindorie (an Anglicisation of the name Lindórië).
what server do eoff players play on?
USEast Ladder, non Hardcore.
Up to NM~
Cim said Tav will rush us later on.
I'm not sure if I really wan't one.
YOU WANT ONE! :cD
I must've missed you, Cim.
ZOMG my Sorc is coming well. I beat Baal (Normal, but still...) first shot, no healing potions. *is proud*
VERY special thanks to Tav for this. Without him, this freakishly powerful Sorc would not be possible.
Starting a new character soo, though I am not entirely sure what it is I want it to be.
Palladin, Druid, or Sorceress are up for grabs, I suppose. Unless I am to remake my Bone Necro, but I've now played ten Necro characters in the time we've had this EoFF Diablo Community thing going...
I think the Sorceress thing is kinda covered... :p
Feel free, though, if you wish.
I'm playing with my poisonmancer, he's at level 14 now.
Is there anyone who would care to coop for a while?
Poisonmancer is kind of boring at first :(.
I'm sending out new sheets.
Sin Spawn
DeStyle
Cimanim
Tsukasa
Nominus
SRL
Giga Guess
Maxx Power (just in case he wants one soon)
That means you should all have a copy of the information sheet, and if you have made a new character, please re-submit one to me, don't just post in the thread, because I don't have time to comb through lots of posts.
Ds in Spanish class aren't highly looked upon by parents.
O rly? I like the idea.
Waaa...
Tav, get your grades up - we know you're more than capable of higher grades. Diablo is stealing your soul.
Good luck.
I got nothing new on my account, Tav.
I'm making a Summoner/Cold Elemental Druid, and I was curious as to what items I ought to look out for. Or, how I ought to build such a character, or if Shape-Shifting is of any real use or not.
I've decided I want to make a Shape-Shifting Druid also, seeing as it's not that difficult to get one that does 13k damage.
QUESTION: Is it a better choice to go for max block, or to go for skills/damage when traveling as a melee-based character - specifically a Shape-Shifting Druid?
:cD I have an elemental druid! I'll show you the gear I have when you're on next!
Ah, that's a student classic.
*Referring to mounting shower heads with lumps of Sodium.
My necromancer is going alright, pain to level still but I'll
get through. I still got a question about runes. I've stumbled
on some, should I hang on to them? Does anyone know of
a list with all runewords listed and runes required?
Yes, we do, and you should keep all of them. Always.
We use this source for all of our information.
You use that as a source, I simply ask you for anything I don't know.
Only for runewords. Everything else I memorize from experience.
Then again, I've been playing since 1.03, so it's not a problem for me.
hey guys ijust recently joined the diablo family but my cds won't allow me to go multiplayer. can ya help ?
Someone is using your CD-Key:
- a friend is using it (if used multiple times)
- it was generated by a random generator (usually irretrievable)
- Blizzard has locked it
- Blizzard has banned it
- you were disconnected (don't worry about this until you actually get online)
You did not install the game to support Multiplayer:
- reinstall as FULL and go from there
Your CDs are broken:
- unlikely, but some parts required to be read are damaged
- the installation process (if Full or Multi) skipped this part due to damage
- they are copied CDs (buy a new one)
So smart, My little Tavrobel, so smart! :cD
thank you Tavrobel. Do you think it could be because i only have 16 bit and it needs 32 bit?
That could be the obvious answer.
RUSH RUSH RUSH... I NEED RUSH RUSH RUSH...
Please?
FYI Diablo II : LOD is dirt cheap these days (both games come in at around £4 in Eng-ger-land). If all else fails buying a new copy will be a very viable option. AFAIK B.net only checks LOD CD keys, not Diablo keys. At any rate, if the CD-key has been stolen, buying a new game will give you a brand spanking new one to use.
Hey, thanks for the charm, Cim!
But of course, Giga! :cD
Oh it was a sad day for the Ancients last night. DrSRL (who can't kill the non-undead) and his not so powerful merc defeated the Ancients yesterday. Oh it was sad. My merc is not wearing the best equipment in the world, and was at level 25. But at least I know it can be done now.
So I did a few other things by myself yesterday, and I have a question. Are the some super uniques in the game that refuse to target you merc? Or did Hephasto just really like me yesterday? I had to run in circles around my merc while my merc hacked away at Hephasto, who never ever noticed my merc.
It's complicated to say the least. Each player-sided target has a different "hate" number associated with them. What this means is that a monster will tend to target the closest target that it wishes on it's "hierachy of hate". Most standard monsters will usually target mercs, minions then you. However Super Uniques and Bosses are an exception. They generally tend to have a much higher hate against your character. This is to stop summoners cheap-killing monsters that are supposed to be hard. You can get them to go after your minions if you yourself are a fair distance away. When I say fair, I mean a screen's length. If you can just about see the monster you're trying to kill then they'll usually go after your minions. Note however that as soon as your minions are all dead they'll make a bee-line for you, and you'll have to get that same distance away again.
Sorry I wasn't out in time Lou... :(
No one is posting. So here is a random update on my Diablo II experience.
I have one of the two high runes I will use for a Grief for my SRLlycan. However, I recently saw something on attack speed and found that a druid will swing a Berserker Axe faster than an Ettin Axe, and with the slower attack speed of a werewolf, my druid needs all the attack speed he can get. And thus I will not be using my Ettin Axe for the Grief and instead will be looking for a Berserker Axe. So if anyone stumbles upon a Berserker Axe, either with five or no sockets, would you mind holding onto it for me, I can use the nightmare socketing quest to give it five sockets. And I almost have another keyset, so that's a second high rune. Also, I would suggest to any shape shifting Druid that when you get Lycanthropy to high enough enough levels that you switch to Heart of Wolverine. Especially in hell, Oak Sage dieing can kill you.
DrSRL can finally damage everything now, although the animation for Fists of Heaven is terribly long for just hitting one target if you aren't in a group of undead monsters. And I was going to put points into Sanctuary for the undead aspect of my character, but I recently came across a few runewords that I had previously overlooked because this is only my second Paladin and I wasn't familiar with all of their skills. Lawbringer gives a lv 16-18 Sanctuary aura when equipped, and it's pretty dirt cheap to make. So say hello to a decently powerful Conviction aura when this build gets further along. And I also read somewhere that on my Prayer merc, if I give him an Insight, his Prayer will synergize with the Mediation aura of the Insight. If I give him a +2 to skills helm/armor, that will max his prayer at level 75. With my Cleansing synergized by my own maxed Prayer, it will be the equivalent of 3 maxed Prayers going on at the same time when I have Cleansing going (which is usually).
With the addition of a Crown of Thieves for SRLmartyr, he now has enough life leech to survive the life leech restriction in hell. If I come across Griswold's weapon, I can socket that with three or four Amn runes and free up some of my other items with life leech for something better. If I get it with four I can free up most everything else.
So, I am making a singing Barb. Actually I already made a singing Barb, but I fudged him up (luckily he's only at lv 12) and I am making another one. If I can delete the character and remake him with the same name, then his name will stay SRLtroubadour, but if not then I have to think of a new one. My strategy with this barb was to use Leap Attack to position myself in the middle of monsters, which would nudge them a bit away from where I landed, and then spam War Cry until they die. For physical immunes, I was going to put a point into Berserk, and rely on +skills and the synergy of a maxed Howl for semi-decent magic damage. However, that would have gone something like this:
+20 Howl, Taunt, Battle Cry, War Cry, Battle Orders
+1 Shout, Battle Command, Find Potion, Find Item, Weapon Master of choice, Increase Stamina, Increase Speed, Iron Skin, Natural Resistance, Leap, Leap Attack, Bash, Stun, Concentrate, Berserk
If you were counting, that is 115 skill points, which is not possible. And thus I would have to sacrifice either four synergy points to War Cry or have a level 16 Battle Orders (at level 99 that is, but lets be optimistic). Yeah, I could give up the Find abilities and a few of the Increases, but why? That's kind of like a Sorc giving up Warmth and Teleport, it's just not right. And I have found that with this game, a lot of things are possible with the right set up, and I came across a way to be able to have everything I want maxed and still have Berserk. While noticing the Lawbringer runeword, I also noticed the Passion runeword, which grants +1 to Berserk, and again is dirt cheap to make. Only +1 to Berserk never really interested me so I always overlooked it, but since that is what I'm doing with this build anyway it's perfect. If I were to equip this, I would save myself 4 skill points, which is just enough for this build. Also, while reviewing the effect of Sanctuary, I realize that it lets the user ignore the phyical immunity of undead monster, and about 85% of physical immunes are undead. There is one none-undead in act 2, and like 4 or 5 in act 5. Not to mention decent elemental damage on the Lawbringer. So on weapon switch I could duel wield a Lawbringer and Passion swords, and there would be nothing immune to me in the game at all. I've never come up with a build like that before, I'm a little proud of myself. So my build now looks like so:
+20 Howl, Taunt, Battle Cry, War Cry, Battle Orders
+1 Shout, Battle Command, Find Potion, Find Item, Sword Master, Increase Stamina, Increase Speed, Iron Skin, Natural Resistance, Leap, Leap Attack
The skill quests will take care of all of the one pointers. So at level 80 I can have maxed War Cry, Battle Cry, Howl, and 10 to Taunt and Battle Orders (or 15 and 5 one way or the other, not sure yet). Then I would max Taunt and finally Battle Orders. I'm thinking this would make a rather decent MFer too. I've never really played with a Barb past level 40, I kind of get bored with them. But I think this one will work for me, there are a lot of interesting things to play with here.
So as you can tell I'm bored at work. If someone could give me an xfer to strip the barb I fudged up, that would be cool. Also, apb for a berserker axe, SRLlycan is so close to being perfect.
No, it will give you six, since that is the max. To socket it and hope for five, you have to use the socketing recipe for white weapons: Ral, Amn, Perfect Amethyst. It cannot be used on Superior, Damaged, or Cracked items. It can be used on Ethereal items.
Amn Lem Ko is not cheap. Lem is rather difficult to find.
I think I have one, but I have to look it up later.
You can.
Because Item Find isn't exactly a priority for Singers. Neither is the Leap portion of the BCombat skills tree. That's -2 from not getting Item Find, -3 from not using Leaps. Singers don't exactly need Berserk, because al Barbarians should know just to give up when Physical Immunes are involved.
You could do that. You won't need Sword Mastery; believe me when I tell you this. The only mastery you'll need is Iron Skin and Natural Resistance. Increased speed is unnecessary with Enigma. Don't worry, I have a spare.
I need a nice little Rush through the Normal acts for my Assassin.
you can have my Forge >_<;! and my NM forge and my Hell Forge :]!
once she gets past them ovcourse >_<;
Ok, here's the thing. One of my friends said that this is the case, it will give max sockets. But it has a 4os cap in normal and 5os cap in nightmare. Don't know if this is true, but I have seen this work once, and he swears by this. One of our members (maybe Cruise Control, not sure) was helping me with stuff, and I found a Colossus Voluge in hell. It must have had a high enough ilvl for at least 5os if not six. We made a normal game, used the socket quest, got 4os, and he told me that was going to happen before it happened, swore to me. Don't know what happened, and I've read that nothing matters, it will give you max sockets unless the ilvl is really really low, but then I see this happen. So, I don't want to waste a socket quest on it, because I'm not saying he's right, but I'm also not saying that my friend is wrong. I don't know. I guess I'll use the weapon socket formula on it, but if I do end up wasting the socket quest and it gets 6os, I can sell it for a hr or two, or give it to you to use for one of your runewords that you like so much.
Hehe, you haven't done as many Countess runs as I have apparently, I've found at least 8.Quote:

Because it's too many skills. I was calculating WW, by accident. BtV was also making one [a Singer Barbarian], so he probably has alot of the items I gave him, if he's not active.
It takes me long enough to kill an enemy WITH Berserk or Frenzy w/ Berserk synergies without dying; you think I would advocate 1% Magic damage for a non-primary attack skill? EXP > Skills.
So it does, my bad. Alright, I'll stick with what I read and not use the socketing quest, thanks for the correction.
Not too many skills, now it's just enough :D Even if it will take FOREVER to reach it, and I'll probably get bored with it before it happens.
1% Magic Damage? Without any +skills it would end up being a total of 300% damage right? Maybe I'm misinterpreting, but whatever the case, War Cry will stun physical immunes, so I'll plenty of time to determine if I'm doing next to no damage and need to run. I'll be safe.
Any item with an ilvl over 40 will automatically be eligible for the maximum amount of sockets. This essentially means that any Elite item will get the maximum amount of sockets it can, except for when a Low Quality Item is upgraded to a Normal item, in which case the ilvl is set at 1 and the maximum number of sockets drops accordingly. In the case of a CV, it would result in a maximum amount of sockets of 3. In all other cases, the maximum it can get is four. When you actually do the socketing quest has no bearing whatsoever on the maximum number of sockets you can gain. A socket quest in Normal will give you the same amount of sockets as in Hell. Same goes for the random sockets cube recipe.
What's the Socket Recipe?
It's different per item. They are all the same, besides substituting certain runes and Gems. There's a list of them under the "Horadric Cube" section at Arreat's, for Armor, Shields, Helms, and Weapons.
Berserk has a 1% Magic Damage conversion synergy to almost all of the attack skills.
Also, the Stun does not work on Act end bosses, and has a reduced effectiveness against Uniques/Champions.
EDIT: SRL, I found the Griswold's Weapon. It's only got three sockets.
I found a Nosferatu's Coil, which is the belt I wanted for my Druid. However, this belt is ethereal with 8 durability. Does anyone know what makes the durability of a belt go down?
Getting hit.
I believe you can still wear your broken equips, and the
bonusses will still count (except for the defence), I'm not sure though.
Belts don't give much defence bonus anyways, can you miss
the few extra defence points?
Like theres a big cheat for online!
Just type: "!yaDslooFslirpA@elytSyBdenwP"
And you will get like 100 mil, increased storage, all runewords,
and full zammy armour.
(SPOILER)Lol j/k @ APRILS FOOLS DAY HAHAHA
I really don't know, SRL. It could be just from being hit, or even using things from the belt itself. I don't seem to be having any luck in discovering how exactly it goes down, but someone else may know.
The greater shame is that there is no method f socketing it, but you might be able to use a cube recipe to repair it; however, such a recipe may not work on ethereal items. It most likely does not.
I am remaking my Bone Necro, and so I am on the look out for Bone Skill Wands and FCR items.
I traded my Boneshade for a Death's Web, but I was curious if anyone had one lying around. I know it's a small chance, and that the wand is incredibly valuable to trade if the skills are high throughout, but I thought to ask all the same.
I suppose before logging in I should work out how Strafe deals damage.
GG, do you still have the Ume's Lament Wand?
And SRL, it seems that I do not have Gravenspine, so whenever we meet again, if I could borrow that, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks to the help of a GodlySmiter several of us know, I am now the proud owner of a rather nice Annihilus. Oh what a day. :D
That Anni is better than mine!
Well, he owes me big for showing him how to Uber Duriel.
For the first elemental druid without a good amulet that wants it:

I WOULD TOTALLY! But I've been neglecting my pally and barb because of God of War II, School, and Life.
April Fool's. You can do better.
Psychotic, I know this is you and I'm tempted to have post deleted, and by the way, this is one pathetic attempt at April Fool's. EoFF Staff just sicken me with their delightfully unfunny sense of humor. I wish you all would stop wasting my time and act like you are supposed to: either epicly funny, or like an actual administration of rule enforcers. I deem this sad at best.
To the Blizzard company, consider this day to be the day in which I actively declare war on you. Too long has the Diablo II community been neglected, and Ruststorm not ever won. Pathetic your coverage on WoW has been, and anyone who plays it and pays obscene amounts is a waste of life (but not if they play Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Draenei, Dwarves, or Gnomes). I will do everything in my power and to the best of my ability to upset the world economy, and force a reset, if not a complete database wipe.
Hard work? Not rightfully so, for my riches are all earned with the exception of my BotD, which was more like a loan, and earned by high runes of which I so found or traded for myself. This trash and rabble of fans will not support you when something new and shinier comes out; I guarantee it. Starcraft and Diablo I have already felt the pull of hackers; even a single day after 1.11, 1.13, 1.14 for Starcraft did they create a new maphack, it was burned into my memory. This disgraceful show of incompetence cannot be withstodd. It is clear that you will not do anything for us, and therefore, we must force you to do it.
From this point on, I will be using every hack or bot at my disposal, and encourage EoFF members to do the same, in order to cause enough havoc and chaos to force a reset. All your hard work, maybe, will be gone, but at the very least, you will learn what it was like in the old days, a cutthroat place where no one is safe. I had nearly forgotten this when I came back on, but now I know. This is old-town, gentlemen. And here, we don't come to play.
I want that DAMNED reset.
Tav: Play modded Diablo with me instead :D
Which mod do you play?
EDIT: So I started playing Median, and it's alot harder than Diablo II is. However, I noticed that it says no Battle.net. How am I going to be able to play with you? I can get on fine, but it doesn't seem like I can join a game (yes, I know, all players must have the mod to play with the other). Are you on Europe?
If anyone that sees this has one, I just nicely got to the level needed for a Tal Rasha belt, plzthxbaibai...
Many thanks.
A question about TC?
I've been doing some reading online. Unless this has changed in the 1.11 version, there seems to be a TC 90, for which no monster resides. Hell Baal and Nihlatak are both TC 87 (along with a few other monsters) and there are no monsters in TC 90, how do the TC 90 items get found? Because I was thinking of trying to complete the Griswold set, but two of them are in the TC 90 group. How is it that TC 90 items exist if they can't be dropped?
Baal and Nihlathak can still drop them, but only those two. I don't know how it works, but at their level, supposedly they drop EVERY item that is possible in the catalogue/database. It might've changed, but it doesn't matter.
Well, that's cheap. :(
TC90 doesn't exist and hasn't existed since 1.10. TC87 is the highest in the game which can be dropped by any monster in the alvl 85 areas and of course the bosses.
<_< I cheated.
Stupid map hack.
And then there's me. The happy wanderer.
How much are a Warcries/7%FRW GCharm and Crown of Thieves worth?
Unless you need a high rune or something you mind if I have the Warcries GC for my Barb. If you need a high rune I can trade you for one.
A Crown of Thieves...I don't know.
About one or two high runes, depending on the supporting mod. Usually one.
Waste of space. You get more from three 3% small charms. I would have some for you, but I traded my collection of them to killa for nine high runes. I am currently awaiting payment.
I've got it for free, if you're on, or if you haven't got one.
I know I say this once every so often, but I'm not gonna be on for the next little while...but this time I have an excuse. I have a project in my 3D animation class (God willing I'll be able to bring it to a level that I can upload and post it) that's going to be chewing up a substantial amount of my time. I'll log in periodically, but it won't be nearly as much.
Don't worry, we are there for you. We seem to be getting livelier and livelier.
And I'm not done for good...stress relief counts for something, y'know. :p
So I downloaded and installed the Median Mod.
Wow.
Everyone ought to play Median.
If people want to get together to play Median (and I sincerely suggest you do since, as NomEx says it's awesome) then feel free to contact me via PM so we can get some TCP/IP games sorted ;)
Damn! It's like a whole new game!
Yeah, this is interesting...
OK, open invitation : Anyone who fancies making a brand spanking new character as part of a Median group game to be played whenever we're all about, give me a buzz via yon PMs. I should be up until about 1am GMT time tonight.
But of course.
Right now I'm reading through all of the documentation of the new skills, items, mod rules, etc... Once I get all of that figured out and test drive each of the new classes I'll probably settle on a character to play for more than an hour.
What did I miss?
which version do I want? the Official or simply mirrors?
They are all the same, except that some of the mirrors might need some kind of account; one of them is free.
I used FileFront without any issues (or annoying sign-ups/garbage) this morning: http://files.filefront.com/7057251
I've updated the player information panel.
Added a Median section. Maxx Power is noted to be in charge of this one, and has been removed from inactive players, while Khaotic has moved down.
Also note that I have added tags after player names. If you need to remember which accounts to add, add only the ones with the (primary) tag after the account name. These, for the time being, will be Tavrobel, Valarauko, and Faelivrin. You may remove the others from your friends list to save space.
In the next update, I may consider adding AIM, MSN, or Y!M names, if provided.
If you have private games where people can find you whilst not in EoFF (and you do not disdain being disturbed at the time), then provide them for me, if you wish.
