I get a feeling of Fratley, but I can't be arsed to check if he was in FF5 so....I dunno. I'll just say Fratley. It's the mice bit that did it. But the playing's got me jiggered. I'll spend more time on it for my next answer.

is it necreon refrencing x-death?
i think it's Kain
All wrong. [strike]I'll start thinking out good clues soon.[/strike] EDITH: Update with major hint
The riddle:
My acquaintance you may have gotten
from the darkness, where I dwell
Although I may be gone and forgotten,
I know Father Time quite well
My former master hides in thin air,
his being you may have missed
to find him you may have to be aware
that he really does exist.
Now, when you've seen me, you may find
that you have seen me before
But only when you look behind
you'll find who I'm really made for
For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive,
my own life span, it ended, I fear,
in Final Fantasy five.
So who am I, my playing friend?
Am I kin of men or mice?
Neither, but bring your doubt to end
With three times three, but twice.
Wrong answers:
Namingway Card
Gilgamesh
Sir Fratley
Necron
Kain
Black mages
Qu, Quale, Quan, Quina
Grand Lethal
Hints / notes:
The answer is a "what" (not a "who")
The last line suggests "99".
Lav Layderce was a who though. The cheeky Chico. Who's Edith by the way? You best not be cheating boy!
Question: Is "kin of men or mice" referring to Burmecian or Cleyran things, or is mice more of a metaphor for cowardice or something? Feel free to tell me to shove this question where the Sun occasionally shines if you think it'd give the answer away.
Of course, but I wouldn't want to mislead you Quinny-poo.
:shifty:Quote:
Who's Edith by the way? You best not be cheating boy!
That line is actually one of the more irrelevant ones. Or well, it tells you (together with the "Neither" on the line below) that the answer is neither human nor mouse, but the "mice" part is mostly there for filling up and rhyming.Quote:
Question: Is "kin of men or mice" referring to Burmecian or Cleyran things, or is mice more of a metaphor for cowardice or something? Feel free to tell me to shove this question where the Sun occasionally shines if you think it'd give the answer away.
My first thought was a genome, but thats who. Then, i thought Black Mages...thats a what, isint it? There are no classic black mages in either FFVI, VII, or VIII, the last was in FFV. Three times three but twice is 18, which means what? And my former master...i dont know! I should be doing biology homework, not working on this. I'll go for the black mages.
For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive, <-- Vivi?
You think right on many points, although Black Mages is the wrong answer and not very close. 18 is wrong as well, but I don't think you should focus too much on that.
You're thinking in the right lines when you say Vivi, but since Black Mages are far from the answer, Vivi is also far from the relative suggested.
Biology homework is futile! Actually no. :)
Is it the Qu? Or more specifically, Quale or Quan?
A lot of it sounds like the secret reunion with Quan at Quan's Dwelling to me. I haven't played FFIV though, so I don't know where that ties in. :) It's most likely miles from the answer, but hey, it's worth a try! :p
Three times three, but twice...its 99, isint it?
A few other thoughts have come to mind, one is the sword in Lindblum weapon shop, which is Clouds Buster sword. Wrong. Another is Zidanes Grand Lethal, or maybe the ability or weapon you get it from I'll research that. I go for Grand Lethal right now.
It is neither the Qu nor any Qu clan member. It is not Grand Lethal either, but yes, 99 is what the last line suggests.
The Boco card you win in Memoria?
My former master hides in thin air,
his being you may have missed
to find him you may have to be aware
that he really does exist. (you get the card from the phantom guy)
Now, when you've seen me, you may find
that you have seen me before
But only when you look behind (in previous games)
For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive, (chocobos?)
my own life span, it ended, I fear,
in Final Fantasy five. (was it the last game he was in? i'm not sure)
With three times three, but twice. (card #99)
You are correct, Taggerung! My full reasoning is as follows:
My acquaintance you may have gotten
from the darkness, where I dwell
Although I may be gone and forgotten,
I know Father Time quite well
My former master hides in thin air,
his being you may have missed
to find him you may have to be aware
that he really does exist.
Rare Phantom, from which you win the Boco card, is invisible, he hides in the clock room (hence "I know Father Time quite well") in Memoria.
Now, when you've seen me, you may find
that you have seen me before
But only when you look behind
you'll find who I'm really made for
For although I have a close relative here,
a friend of yours, well and alive,
my own life span, it ended, I fear,
in Final Fantasy five.
Although you may recognize him as Choco (a close relative), he is actually Boco from Final Fantasy V.
So who am I, my playing friend?
"playing" refers to the fact that you have to play cards to acquire this card.
Am I kin of men or mice?
Neither, but bring your doubt to end
With three times three, but twice.
3*3 = 9, 9 twice = 99, which is the card's number.
Well done! Your go.
I thought Boco was also in FF8 as the baby chocobo, but regardless, good show Rantizen.
Baby chocobos of VIII were called Chicobos, if my memory serves me right.
And thanks. :)
yeah umm... somebody else can do a riddle now
Anyone? :)
You lazy sods! Alright, but its bad.
Cloak and dagger is my profession
But the Presidents theme plays behind me
I have hidden behind 3 masks
I follow the azure path to a gate and a mountain
Mike Tyson would kill for my power.
Is it Gilgamesh?
Nope. If you give reasoning I can help you, so post it.
Baku?
...its Baku, damn. But i put a lot of effort into that so im gonna give all its fine points.
Cloak and dagger is my profession - He is a thief
But the Presidents theme plays behind me - Forest
I have hidden behind 3 masks - The dragon, and he pretends to be a actor, which is famously symbolized by two masks
I follow the azure path to a gate and a mountain - The river in the forest to the gate
Mike Tyson would kill for my power. - TANTALUS TORNADO PUNCH or something.
The spark of the holy sword
Breaks and bends reality.
Beware the climax of the plot
For one may give a blind eye
To the shocking disaster before them.
Is it Thunder Shock that attack that Beatrix and Steiner use?
Nope.
Shock?
The spark of the holy sword - You learn it from [strike]Excalibur, which is a "holy" sword in mythology[/strike] - oops, it was Ragnarok, apparently. Also, the attack sort of looks like a spark, if I remember correctly.
Breaks and bends reality. - ?
Beware the climax of the plot - ?
For one may give a blind eye - ?
To the shocking disaster before them. - Shocking disaster could refer to the name.
Probably not, but just to keep it going.
You're on the right track...
Ragnarok.
You seem to have basically described the end of the world there, which in Viking culture is what Ragnarok was.
I recall hearing that, after the Vikings invaded Northumbria, Mercia and East Anglia, they began to take on Christianity, and as a result concluded Ragnarok had happened and that Adam and Eve were the survivors. No idea how true this is, though.
I don't know from where I got the idea that you learn Shock from Excalibur. Let's try Climhazzard instead:
The spark of the holy sword - This, you learn from Excalibur at least.
Breaks and bends reality. - When Beatrix uses it as a finale, it lowers all your characters' HP to 1, even though that is not what the attack "really" does.
Beware the climax of the plot
For one may give a blind eye
To the shocking disaster before them. - Maybe these lines refer to what happens after Beatrix uses Climhazzard. The "climax of the plot" is where Beatrix turns against Brahne after having given a "blind eye" to the "shocking disaster" she has caused.
Rantzien is probably right, It's either Climhazzard OR Stock Break pretty much for the same reasons. So in case Climhazzard is wrong, I'll guess Stock Break:)
I find Mental Break somewhat likely too.
You are all beating around the bush.
The answer is Beatrix's "Seiken" skill
The spark of the holy sword --Spark: "Thunder Shock" Holy Sword translates to Seiken from Japanese
Breaks and bends reality. Key word: Break--"Stock Break"
Beware the climax of the plot. -- Beware=hazzard + climax= Climhazard (I was running out of ideas)
For one may give a blind eye -- Refers to Beatrix, who wears a patch
To the shocking disaster before them. -- Shock.
The riddle as a whole referst to Beatrix's "Shock" when she realizes that she has indirectly betrayed her kingdom.
So what's the new riddle then?
It's up for grabs...you were all pretty close.
I'll take if no one else wants it, but I'd rather see some new faces :)
Whatever, I'll take a shot. Actually I think I may have been furthest away...
Even infinity will come to a close
If we follow our minds too far in
It may help share your fate, should no-one oppose
To find an end, we must first begin
I think this is quite an easy one, so I won't offer clues unless it goes on too long.
It always seems easy for the one who makes the riddle :)
Anyway: I'm not sure where to start. The riddle seems abstract, as if to describe an event or feeling, rather than an item or a monster, for example. If we follow our minds too far in could be referring to Memoria, since it's a place built on their memories (their minds). To find an end, we must first begin seems like a key line.
That's all I've got for now, I'll guess Crystal World since I don't have any better guesses.
Well Rantzien, you're getting there.
Might as well guess Memoria, since Rantzien is on the right track there isn't much more to choose...
By the way, I'll need someone to get this right for around Wednesday or Thursday as I'll soon be moving away and won't have internet access for a week... so keep your guesses coming, guys!
This thing isn't abstract, you're getting warm though.
Is it the Crystal itself?
There is reasoning to it, I'm just too lazy to put it down...:p
Well done! The Crystal it is! The clue I was ready to pop open was "It's right in front of you from the beginning", in that it's in the game's title art.
Even infinity will come to an close: The Crystal is the source of all creation and just keeps on going and going, but destroying it will stop that.
If we follow our minds too far in: End of Memoria, straightforward enough
It'll help share your fate, should no-one oppose: Kuja's attempt to destroy it, thwarted by Zidane and co.
To find an end, we must first begin: Just the first line again; stopping whatever's at the beginning will stop everything.
Timster, you're up!
FIIIINALLY!
I've waited for so long to get a riddle, and I've already made one for FFVII,FFVIII and FFX as well. So here's the beginning of my riddle empire:evilking:, read and cry:mwahaha: :
My looks may be deceiving,
but it doesn't matter,
because you'll only meet me once.
After the family reunion,not before!,
is when you'll see me.
My name is "dry fly annie",
pleased to meet ya'!
Hopefully this will be incredibly hard...:p
Is it Hilda? I never really saw her much in the game.
Tantarian?
Par. 1 - Well, it's a book. You don't expect to fight a book. You'll only battle Tantarian once.
Par. 2 - If the "Family reunion" is the ATE of the Nero brothers meeting up (which seems likely), then you can fight Tantarian shortly after, I think. Actually, you can fight him earlier (on disc 2) but I'm taking a chance. Everyone may not know, and all that.
Par. 3 - "Dry fly Annie", eh? Well, I'm guessing this is some sort of code to find the name of the answer. I looked around a little but I couldn't think of any excuses for my guess for this line, except that Ann (as in Tantari-Ann) could be a shorter name for Annie. I know, it's a long shot. :)
The last line could simply be a filler, but in this case it could refer to the Tantarian's way of speaking ("I've been found!", "See ya!").
Nope it's not Hilda and not tantarian either.
Rantzien's reasoning is very good, too bad it's not right.
Sailor Erin?
Par. 1 - She may not look like a hardcore card player, but she enters the Treno Card Tournament as the Champion (although Cid is probably the one doing the playing). You will also only meet her once in the tournament.
Par. 2 - Pretty much the same reasoning as my last guess. The tournament takes place in Treno, shortly after the visit in Alexandria where you'll see the ATE "Long time no see!" (where the Nero brothers meet up).
Par. 3 - "dry" would refer to the fact that she is a sailor, but not in water, "fly" is obvious. "Annie"? I haven't a clue. :)
No, it's not Sailor Erin, I'll give a hint after two more guesses...
Can't think of any other guesses right now, I'll be back if I think one up.
Heeeey! no one is guessing:(
:p If I give a hint, maybe there'll be more guesses:
HINT: (SPOILER)it's not part of the main story...
I'm surprised nobody's guessed Ozma. So I will.
It's the family reunion that gave me the idea.
nope it's not ozma....
wild guess, Puck? (don't ask he always tends to say "nice to meet ya")
no, if there were more guesses there would be hints but it's going rather slow...
That one bird lady that always asks for the Stelazzio coins?(sorry, can't remember her name).
It's not queen stella (think that's her name...)
Hint: don't focus too much on the last line, it's not a complete add-on but the other lines describe the answer better...
you can unleash garland as much as you want, it's still not correct...
Could it maybe be one of the Fairy monsters you meet that you have to give items to? since you only see them once, its not part of the main storyline and their always happy to see you?
It COULD be, but then you would have to be more precise as to which friendly monster it is...
The riddle:
My looks may be deceiving,
but it doesn't matter,
because you'll only meet me once.
After the family reunion,not before!,
is when you'll see me.
My name is "dry fly annie",
pleased to meet ya'!
Friendly Yan. Dry Fly Annie.
I can't think of a decent one right now, so this'll have to do.
To see the ID of the first of his kind,
the equestrian statue you must first find.
He is no fool with mighty sword,
for with cunning he defeated a mighty horde.
Now, though dead, he still lives on.
All but his memory are now gone.
HEY! he posted before i said that he had the correct answer, can you do that!?...
Anyway it is quite obvious when you came up with the answer for this riddle so he was probably right in doing so and giving us a new riddle right away...
Friendly Yan
My looks may be deceiving, it looks like a yan but isn't a real one
but it doesn't matter,
because you'll only meet me once. you'll only fight it once and even then ther's nothing to worry about since it won't attack you
After the family reunion,not before!,
is when you'll see me. you only fight it after you've met all the other friendly creatures otherwise it'll run away
My name is "dry fly annie", "dry fly annie" is an anagram for "friendly yan"
pleased to meet ya'! basically means that it's friendly
Alright you're up Quin 'n' Tonic...well you already are but still you all know what i mean...
Hmm, is it any of the Cid Fabools? In Lindblum there is a statue of Cid Fabool I (the first of his kind) on a horse (equestrian).
I don't remember what the others did specifically, but I think Cid Fabool VIII (8, the previous regent) was the first one to invent an airship, so if you don't accept "one of the Cids" as an answer, "Cid Fabool VIII" is my guess.
Cid Fabool 8 is incorrect. However, you said 1 so I'll give you it.
To see the ID of the first of his kind, - Just a little play on words. C the ID. Cid. LOL. And he's Cid I.
the equestrian statue you must first find. - He's the horse statue in Lindblum.
He is no fool with mighty sword,
for with cunning he defeated a mighty horde. - I like rhymes. Cid I won the first ever Festival of the Hunt, and became Regent.
Now, though dead, he still lives on.
All but his memory are now gone. - He's dead. There's a statue.
Rantz is up. Damn that one was easy. I promise an uber hard one next time. And sorry Tim. Didn't mean to butt in. Excellent riddle. :D
Haha, ok. Well this was written in a hurry so I hope it's not too shabby :)
Your closest friend I might be
throughout your journey's course
though you can't always find me
when ruled by other force
Through me you power may grow
your mind may expand too
and although you might not know
I know you better than you do
So you can talk to me at will
or order me around
you'll find me on the small hill
with three lines on the ground
Eidolons? i think the reasoning speaks for itself...
Nope, not eidolons. :)
err...i dont thik this is right but ill give it a shot..
is it experience points?
they're found throughout the journey...but you don't get them when inflicted with virus which could be "another force"...and the whole growing thing..yeah...after that i dont know how it would fit though >.>
Nope, not experience points, although you're thinking on the right level of abstraction. ;)
Haha, nope, not quite as close. :)
is it weapons?
Nope. Hint: The answer is not a living creature.
is it... trance?
This is a really random guess but is it the save feature, as in the book that the moogles carry?
No. But the guess is not too random.
I don't want to be a pain about it, but if you give reasoning I can help you more than saying yes or no. :)
Is it the battle system?you cant use it when berzerk or confused and there are a few others.your power and smarts get better while using it due to winning fights and getting more knowledge on what your enemies are weak to...........too much thought for a wrong answer huh?
When hell is full the dead shall walk the earth........*Mega pheonix down*
:shoot:
is it your stats?
Neither Stats nor the Battle system is correct.
The last verse is probably the most important key to separate the answer from other things that may fit the riddle.
oh noooo this is going to be like rantz's previous riddle in the FF8 forums :(!!!!
EDIT::p...and seeing as I was the one who solved that riddle I might as well be the one who solves this one so I'll add a guess: items (like...in general, kind of like the item command)
Haha, I don't think it will :) Besides, most guesses so far have been fairly close.
Not items.
"you'll find me on the small hill" Doesn't actually refer to a hill does it? =S
Not a hill on the world map :freak:
OMG HILL OF DESPAIR!
Has someone said the Crystal?
Chocobo tracks?
No one guessed The Crystal but it's wrong, as is Chocobo Tracks.
Hint: The answer is not part of the main storyline.
is it abilitys?
if i remember correctly theyre the 3rd from the top in your battle menu. its abilitys defines what class you are so that would be knowing you betetr then you know. you cant control it when confused berserked or dead. also your abilitys could eb what helps you beat a battle so therefore my closest friend it might be. i can command or order around the abilitys as i please. also if it helps me win a battle it helps my power and mind expand.
Wrong, but this part is good (only it's not about abilities):
The riddle:Quote:
i can command or order around the abilitys as i please.
Your closest friend I might be
throughout your journey's course
though you can't always find me
when ruled by other force
Through me you power may grow
your mind may expand too
and although you might not know
I know you better than you do
So you can talk to me at will
or order me around
you'll find me on the small hill
with three lines on the ground
Incorrect answers:
Eidolons
Experience points
Ability points
Weapons
Trance
Save feature
The battle system
The party's statistics
Items
The Crystal
Chocobo Tracks
Abilities
Magic
Magic stones
The "Attack" command
The Invincible
Choco
Chocobo's footprints
Moguo
Hints:
The answer is not a living creature.
The last verse is probably the most important key to separate the answer from other things that may fit the riddle.
"The small hill with three lines on the ground" is not a hill on the world map or in the field.
The answer is not part of the main storyline.
The riddle does not feature a "incredibly strange acronym" (:)) or any acronym at all, for that matter.
There is a real world reference in the riddle.
magic? for all the same reasons.
except when im muted i cant use it or out of mp.
Is this an incredibly strange acronym again?
No to both of you :)
could it be the stones you use to allocate the magic/abilities with?
the attack command?
Neither Magic Stones nor the "Attack" command.
Hint: "The small hill with three lines on the ground" is not a hill in the field.
the invincible?
Getting colder.
i have no idea need more hints!!!!!!!!!
I've given plenty of hints already, almost 1 per 2 guesses :)
However, if you reason I can help more. You don't even need to post a guess, just tell me what you can make of the riddle. I'll point out where you're thinking right and where you're thinking wrong.
The chocobo itself?
Nope. More abstract than that.
It the chocobo footprint?
Is it the moogle that you use the whistle for? I forgot its name :(.
His name is Moguo, but no, neither him nor Chocobo footprints.
Hint: There is a real world reference in the riddle.
chocograph?
Nope. The guesses in the beginning were closer than they are now!
Briljant riddle!
I believe I solved it, it's the triangle button on
our PS'ses (I didn't even play it on a PS :P).
W00t first post, helluva way to barge in here!
I'll go introduce myself tomorrow in the introduction
topic (if there is such topic anyways?).
P.S. Yeah my post's layout turned out crap, I got my reason.
I'm currently using windows' compatability keyboard mouse. Which
basicly comes down to controlling your mouse with the numpad.
Hence I'm renderred inable to "right click" and bold my sentences
for example.
Very close, but no cookie :)
Your reasoning for the last verse is correct, so it shouldn't be hard to get it now.
the menu that pops up when you hit triangle?
Correct. Do you want to post reasoning, otherwise I'll post mine. Anyway, you're up.
Ah damn, Lynx you cookie stealer :P.
I was so darn close! I shall solve thy (err. thou in plural right?)
riddles and make one of my own.
haha my bad i didnt mean to steal it from you but it was all thanks to you that i got it and for that i will let you have my turn and create a ffIx riddle of your own. beside sim not very good at createing riddles not too good at cracking them either and this riddle had me going for awhile.
so DeStyle your up.
my reasoning would be
Your closest friend I might be
throughout your journey's course - your menu is everything in the game.
though you can't always find me
when ruled by other force - idk i guess because you cant use it in battle?
Through me you power may grow - in your menu is your status and experience.
your mind may expand too - stratagy?
and although you might not know
I know you better than you do - well your menu tells you everything if you dont check it then you dont know.
So you can talk to me at will - i can open it when i want.
or order me around - I controll how often i open the menu.
you'll find me on the small hill - the controller.
with three lines on the ground - triangle.
You got some of the reasoning down, but not all of it:
Your closest friend I might be
throughout your journey's course - The menu is one of the few things that sticks with you from beginning to end.
though you can't always find me
when ruled by other force - When the player watches a cutscene ("ruled by other force"), you can't open the menu.
Through me you power may grow
your mind may expand too - The menu can be used for raising stats ("power", "mind"), and optimizing your characters overall.
and although you might not know
I know you better than you do - I bet you don't remember all of your characters' stats, abilities, statuses, equipment and whatnot. The menu does. :)
So you can talk to me at will
or order me around - Basically references the last verse.
you'll find me on the small hill
with three lines on the ground - This is the triangle button on your PlayStation controller, which is used to access the menu.
Cheers :)
Damn, that was a hard one. lol
umm anyone can go and make another riddle feel free to take ym turn.
i will! haven't had one in a while
The riddle:
Adorned and beautified,
but not weak.
I am a part of something.
I fight those who occupy,
just like i did,
in the balkans with Tito.
Should be pretty easy...
beatrix???
shes adorned and beautified ;)
Alexander.
It's adorned and beautified in that it mostly appears in cutscenes and is basically a showpiece for a rather neat FMV.
Not weak, as he owns Bahamut rather nicely.
A part of something, namely Alexandria castle.
I fight those who occupy, again, Bahamut (and Kuja, indirectly)
Just like I did
In the Balkans with Tito; a real life Alexander became Alexander I of Yugoslavia after a tussle in the Balkans.
nope it's not beatrix.
and it's not alexander either, but excellent reasoning (it's not correct but still) i didn't even think of anything like that, and it really does fit in nice
but still wrong...
Your riddle is a little too inspecific for
me to solve :'(. I just don't think those
few lines you have give enough information.
I would like it if you gave hints or
lengthened the riddle a bit.
Anyways, I'm clueless really.
Man, what a familiar feeling... like that time I guessed Fury Brand on FF7 riddles where the right answer was HP<->MP but still matched it up correctly to all the lines. Heh heh, oh well.
Couldn't be Dagger/Princess Garnet then, could it?
no correct answer so far.
Hint: contains many outside references...
Many outside references?
Wow maybe there's more to the riddle than I thought..:p
I've had a couple of false leads (where I thought I was on
track but wasn't). Anyways, I'm now puzzled with the very
first word; "Adorned". That is not your average vocabulary,
and it means practically the same as beautified.
So I'm thinking there's more to it and whaddaya know?
In several item descriptions the producers used the
word "adorned", but there the lead stops.
*psst, Is "adorned" a clue or do you have 1337 english skillz?
The balkans with Tito part doesn´t make much sense to me.
Balkans seems to be some kind of Turkish for "rock" or
"mountain" but still the Tito part doesn't ring a bell. I have
searched the whole internet for FF IX and anything related
to Tito or any mangled up combination of those letters.
The other sentences are really not specific enough to
start a search for.
you're approaching the riddle in the right way except that you got every conclusion wrong:p so to start off:
adorned isn't there because i'm trying to use "difficult" (in lack of a better word) words, and it's not an outside reference, but you may be on to something but i don't really know what you're thinking about and you said that they were false leads so i'm not sure on what you're thinking about...
as for the balkan=rock/mountain theory you're waaaaay off...
The riddle:
Adorned and beautified,
but not weak.
I am a part of something. this line is an independent part and it's easier if you consider it to be, before it was with the first paragraph so... think of it as independent...
I fight those who occupy,
just like i did,
in the balkans with Tito.
That's as many hints as i'll give for now, after a couple of guesses you'll get more hints, but that'll do for now.
the falcons claw
not the falcons claw
It's so G'damn hard!
Could you please explain a bit on the Tito part?
Since, by now, I'm pretty sure there's no mention
of "tito" in FF IX, closest is Dhr. Tot. OH WAIT A MINUTE!
Didn't Eiko call him Toti? Or little princess Garnet?
Probably another false lead? Is this Tito an anagram?
Hmm you could also mean that I must add Tito to balkans.
Which forms balkanstito, which could be an anagram.
Blak station?
Balk station?
Blanks .....
Tot is a blank? (lol?:P)
the whole last sentence makes for:
Thinkable within toast
or
Thinkable with station.
Probably nothing (anagrams are bad for me).
there has been no correct answer so far and BTW the riddle contains no anagrams.
Hmm, maybe I got it.
Is it the stardust rod?
It's "adorned with beautifull stars".
I guess you could say it isn't weak.
It's a part of madain's ring.
It has elemental defence versus shadow. I guess
you could say shadow "occupies". And in general users
of shadow magic have bad intentions.
The tito and balkan part I still can't match to this answer.
Or it's Zorn.
He wears Partisan and Stardust Rod (which both are "adorned" in their descriptions).
He is healthier than Thorn, and not weak.
He's a part of Meltigemini.
That's where I get stuck.
no guess correct so far... although DeStyle seems to be on the right track...
is it a weapon of some kind like Save The Queen or Excalibur?
DeStyle was close when he said Zorn.
The answer is Partisan. Reasoning available upon request.
And why is it Partisan then?
I'm oh so curious what you made out of the
balkan/tito part.
abrojtm is correct! (if you want to you can post your reasoning too but i'll post mine anyways)
Adorned and beautified, it's description is " spear adorned with beautiful gems" or something like that...
but not weak. it's not the weakest spear (javelin is weaker, maybe mythril spear too... but at least javelin i'm sure of)
I am a part of something. if you look up partisan in a dictionary (or wikipedia would probably be good too) it's meaning is to be a part of something (i think it's origins are greek or latin but i don't remember which...
I fight those who occupy,
just like i did,
in the balkans with Tito. same as before look it up on wikipedia (it's by far the easiest way to understand), VERY LONG story made VERY SHORT, Tito was a leader in Former Yugoslavia (hence Balkan Peninsula "balkans"), and during the 2nd world war he made a resitance faction (later it became an entire army) to fight the germans occupying Yugoslavia, which was called the partisan army, and another meaning of the word "partisan" is someone who's a part of a faction or resistance movement... but enough of that... look it up if you want to know more, as said wikipedia should sum it up quite well...
so abrojtm is up now...
Maybe they seem useless to you,
But they're useful to me!
I use them to create many great things,
So I want three!
Maybe you've seen a sasquatch?
You could search near a big tree!
is it a diamond?
yetis want diamonds.
ore?
Nope. You're trying to figure out who "I" am, just in case that was confusing at all.
is it hades?
the three items could be the pumice pieces and cinnas hammer
As a guess: Morrid. It's almost definitely wrong, I just got the idea from his love of coffee. Three beans and lots of coffee. :D
Is it that traveling moogle? Slitzken I think?
None of the above :D
the green nymph? she's near the lifa tree, which is definitely big enough so...
and doesn't she want like three ore or something like that? and you meet the friendly yeti before her (if you encounter every friendly monster through the course of the game) which could be the sasquatch thingy...
Yeah I think thats correct.
Doesn´t she say something like "Did you see my friend yeti?"
when you encounter her?
yup think so... not to sound overly confident but i think i got it...
Right-o!
The ore is used in lots of syntheses, so thats why it uses them to make lots of things. She wants three, and you see her after Yeti (sasquatch).
Well, in the riddle you make believe that
the "I" person makes the stuff. That's kind of foul.
Nice riddle nonetheless :D!
How do we know that the Nymph isn't using the Ore to make stuff?
How do we know that she is?
Ores can be used by synths but there is no indication
that Nymphs can use ores to make other stuff.
You can't give too much hints like that, since it
can put people in an entirely wrong direction.
someone can take my turn, i had the riddle before this one so it's good if we have some change...
Ok, I'll have this one then.
This be my first riddle, so don't expect much of it.
It turned out way too easy :P.
A black horse you can make me ride,
From the moment you reach the night.
If you hope to get me at that point in possesion,
Work! I am not earn't in one training session.
Only one time I can inflict great pain,
But with a blade there's more to gain.
The pointy use will always kill,
But you need luck, or it will fail.
At first that use might seem too skilled,
No need to worry, chiefs won't be killed.
I am no plane, not a Dino either, the guessing has begun,
No more hints I will give, doing that would ruin the fun.
The last paragraph is mostly a filler line don't
look at it for too long.
Odin.
A black horse you can make me ride,
From the moment you reach the night.
If you hope to get me at that point in possesion,
Work! I am not earn't in one training session. - Odin rides a big black horse in the sky, and he has, like, 50 AP to be learnt or summat.
Only one time I can inflict great pain,
But with a blade there's more to gain. - One hit kill. "Odin's Sword" skill makes him do damage if he misses.
The pointy use will always kill,
But you need luck, or it will fail.
At first that use might seem too skilled,
No need to worry, chiefs won't be killed. - He misses lots, and will always miss if you try him on a boss.
I am no plane, not a Dino either, the guessing has begun,
No more hints I will give, doing that would ruin the fun. - blah blah blah. ;)
yeah i think quin got it
and you can get him before dali if you train garnet enough referring to the traing session
trhe pointy use is his spear probably, yeah if this is wrong i wil have no idea at all...
damn quin you beat me... aaw well you snooze you lose..
Correct! (told ya it was easy :P), the answer is Odin/Dark Matter.
A black horse you can make me ride,
From the moment you reach the night. - You can buy Dark Matter once you reach Treno, where it is always night.
If you hope to get me at that point in possesion,
Work! I am not earn't in one training session. - The sommun Odin
costs alot of AP, but the Dark Matter also costs alot of gp's.
Only one time I can inflict great pain, - Dark Matter can be used once to inflict 9999 damage to any opponent.
But with a blade there's more to gain. - But if you equip it on "Dagger" she will learn the Odin summon.
The pointy use will always kill, - If Dagger uses her summon it will result in the Death status (thus killing).
But you need luck, or it will fail. - It works with chance percentages.
At first that use might seem too skilled, - Well, people may think it's overpowered.
No need to worry, chiefs won't be killed. - But Odin will never
instakill bosses.
I am no plane, not a Dino either, the guessing has begun,
No more hints I will give, doing that would ruin the fun.
Those two sentences are just to end the riddle.
I had to put in an anagram though (Dino).
[/quote]
Quin, you're up!
Huh? I thought you got one for beating Ozma and one at Treno auction house?
Garnet has all her summons at the start, they just take a lot of MP.
Good riddle by the way, and interesting reasons. :D
Umm...I'll just think of something off the top here.
Death to all! High ye shall be!
This game we play, it truly suits me!
My blade be sharp, my mind be quick.
Kill as they come, no time to pick!
If I do best, I'll get my prize.
I'll take out the thing with the greatest size!
Get back, you rat, I need no help!
I will surely win if I take out this whelp!
Hints will be given if I think anyone's really struggling.
Its the festival of the hunt right?
Death to all! High ye shall be!
This game we play, it truly suits me!
My blade be sharp, my mind be quick.
Kill as they come, no time to pick! - You need to accumulate points quickly so you can't be picky
If I do best, I'll get my prize. - you get a prize for winning at the end
I'll take out the thing with the greatest size! -The Zanghol or something? Since you have to fight it at the end
Get back, you rat, I need no help! - Referance to Freya
I will surely win if I take out this whelp!-If you take out Freya then you'll land the killing blow instead of her allowing you to win if you have enough points and also ejecting Freya from the competition.
Spot on.
Ah Brilliant X3 I got one, heres mine I hope its not too easy :D
North, East, South, West,
and directions that lie between.
I'll seize your forces in chains,
and make them my own,
Come and get them if you can!
Common or Regal,
Rich or Poor,
Strong or Weak in body and heart,
all have a chance,
though only half will win the war,
unless both in victory we ward off forces loss.
Alexander?
hmm might have something to do with Garland and the invincible but sinc ei cant guess twice in the same post ill go with...
Garland
and if theyre both worng tell me now before i look even more stupid and guess invincible :p
Its not Garland, Alexander or the invincible,
a few more guesses and I'll give a hint
Is it Kuja?
I'm thinking about the event in Cleyra.
When the alexandrian mages invade and Zidane
has to help the villagers escape by leading them
to several directions. I'm in a hurry so I can't reason
it right now.
It's not Kuja or the event in Cleyra
for a hint concentrate on the first and last two lines, as for the middle verse theres a key word in it that'll give you a bigger clue to the answer.
i think it has something to do with the black mages and their lifespan which is limited and that kuja seizes them by saying he could make it longer and the north south east.. is probably when trying to find their village....
Good try but not quite its nothing to do with the black mages. The compass points don't refer to the world map but its something to focus on. Think where else you might use them. I'll give a bigger hint if no one gets it in a few more posts.
Is it tetramaster?
North, East, South, West,
and directions that lie between. the cards can attack in all these directions...
I'll seize your forces in chains,
and make them my own,
Come and get them if you can! -when you beat a card it becomes yours
Common or Regal,
Rich or Poor,
Strong or Weak in body and heart,
all have a chance,
though only half will win the war,
unless both in victory we ward off forces loss. -err...idk i guess everyone can play the card game and only one person will win the war unless equal cards are owned and its a draw
*Ding Ding* WINNER well done Woodinator ^_^ Your up. All reasoning is correct so I have nothing to add.
ok..i tried to make this a little easy cause im leaving for Florida tomorrow XD
Give me you're broken and poor
and all who are threatened by death.
Although enveloped by a maelstrom of Earth's fury,
We will be protected from those that wish harm.
High we tower into the sky, a symbol of hope to all,
A baobab in a desolate land
Cleyra?
yup thats it...your turn
Yay! Somebody else can take my turn.
Ill take it. forgive me if my riddle is crap and/or easy.:)
My purpous is to end all.
Life should not exist.
Your will is nothing.
The grandcross is only the begining...........
More hints as guesses come in.
necron?
i really do suck at this game. yes your right. why cause most are his lines while grand cross is one of his attacks. your turn
Necron is a bit of an obvious character
to riddle about. If you've played FF IX to the
end you know that you had to face (SPOILER)the end itself.
Also words like "purpose" gives alot of indication on what
kind of person we're talking about. Leaving only a select few
left (Garland, Necron, Kuja perhaps).
Don't bother I suck too we'll get better.
let me think of another..........oh i got one
I may not be strong, but my servant will kill you!
Im the brother of another, what am i?
Kuja?
Hmm...this seemed to have died quite a ways back...wonder if I can get it going again, one last time:
Formed from another
different color and different terrain
my passage lies lower than before
my maker a man of many reputations
Zidane?
Nope, that is a nice try though. :)
chocobo?...im probably wrong.....
No, it is not a chocobo. You're at least thinking of some of the passages but they don't all fit to your answer.
GarlandTerra
A black mage.
Neither Terra not a black mage. Wow, I might've actually made an alright riddle for once.
The twin moons?
Ah! The Iifa Tree?
The twins moon and the Iifa Tree are incorrect.
Sounds like a place named after a person, so I'll guess Gizamaluke's Grotto.
It is not Gizamaluke's Grotto. And since you bring up place it is not a location either. There's one hint so far.
eildolons(summons, if my spelling is too crappy) bad guess I know
Yes, eidolons is incorrect.
This is tough. Mikoto?
No, it is not Mikoto. Some reasonings would be nice so I could tell you where you are misinterpretting.
I'll guess Kuja
Formed from another- I think he was made because of Zidane, he was farmed from him...I don't really remeber haven't played in forever.
different color and different terrain- hmm...He has different colored hair? lol He was different then Zidane in many ways.
my passage lies lower than before- hmm...dunno
my maker a man of many reputations- Garland is well known and he made Kuja
Sorry to say none of these interpretations are accurate as to the true answer, and it was the other way around. Zidane was made after Kuja, but he wasn't made off of Kuja though.
