Knife Throwing skills ^-^~~
I tried playing a Barbarian for about half an hour, but the protective spirits that I summon don't follow me, so I have to re-summon them if I want to use them two screens up. What a pain...
Think of them as similar to the Assassin's Trap skills. You put 'em down, watch them do their work, then re-cast them as needed.
They? Hehe, the whole things been done exclusively by one guy, a very obsessive German/Genius (I do mean actual Genius, he's doing like five extremely difficult courses on real mind-bending subjects AND doing Median at the same time) by the name of Lazbro.
Also this: A list of builds. NOTE : Some may be outdated due to subsequent patches after the one the guide would have been written for.
I also believe that a new version is coming out within the next few weeks, so don't feel too bad if you find a character you make now becomes nerfed to buggery come the patch.
hay guyzz ^^;;;;;
hay ^-^!
Okey dokey. I figured out why I cannot find Diablo II on my PC.
My Sister Uninstalled it. it should be installed in the next few hours if my friend allows me to stop playing Lineage II ~~
A couple things for you Tsu:
1) I will provide you with a knife and a picture of the human anatomy, I want to practice putting that knife in the heart of person in the picture, then when you've got that down, do the same thing to your sister.
2) Remember what I said to do to your friend? I don't, so I'll just say you can head butt him in the ovaries. The same thing will work for your sister I suppose.
This Diablo kicks ass.
;_;
I wanna play Diablo II again ;-;-;
*continues playing Lineage II till his next payday -_-*
Ok cancel what I said about stabbing your sister in the heart, as that just won't do. HIT THAT BITCH IN THE HEAD WITH A LARGE ROCK!!
o.o hey be nice. She is my Sister after all n_n;;;
In addition, the frontpage says that the next version may require a new download to run Median, as it is getting extremely technical and large; compare the current patch, 2MB to Median, 17MB. No wonder you knew about Median, you review mods! If you had to review Psychotic, what would his grade be?
Ohh man, I just put you in the retired section. Time to go fix that.
Okay, now that I understand the Barbarian a little better, I've recreated one at level one, rather than "cheating" at level 33, and I'm thoroughly enjoying Median so far. :D
This version is...kinda awkward. I've yet to find a decent projectile attack...
Here's a tip for all of you: never upgrade your Thunder God's Vigor Belt.
Someone play with me.
I haven't done a review for a few years now, yet most modders still seem to want to please me :D
Also, P-
Have you tried Assassin's knife-throwing skills? How about the Barb? Maybe use the 'Zon, Mistress of all things arrow related. I've even wrote a guide on the very subject.
*plays with you*
Is this on regular of Median D2?
One thing I like about Median, as a Barb, is that you're not limited to one class of weapon, other than melee or throwing. It's nice to able to switch between an axe, mace, sword, etc...
I'm hoping to get some Median time in this afternoon if anyone's around.
Giga Guess, when you see this, you have a choice of four armors:
Corpsemourne
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/ite...l/uarmor.shtml
A general, all purpose armor, recommended
I think you should take this
Leviathan
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/ite...e/uarmor.shtml
May be slightly out of range, but can be socketed, and reduces damage
Also, if it raises your Merc's Strength by enough, I'll make a CV Insight
Griswold's Heart
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/ite...riswoldslegacy
With your choice of Perfect Gems to socket with
Also, if it raises your Merc's Strength by enough, I'll make a CV Insight
Fortitude
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/ite...ords-110.shtml
That is, if I deign to find a good 4Os armor, and want to get you that Lo rune; by far the best choice
Assuming if I care to make one, of course
Someone explain this median thing. I'm about to get the expansion.
I'm always talking about Median, I don't play normal D2.
And Maxx, you got my PM, didn't you? I sent it like 2 days ago asking what I need to know to play with you guys, that TCP/IP thing? Or are we using open battle net?
I'm playing, by the way, talk to me on AIM if you want to play with me.
KhaoticDizaster
Median is an mod for D2 which basically changes the way in which the game is played. It's installation is very easy. You can find out more about it here or here.
I wondered what that PM was about, it was a tad abiguous. I believe we're playing on Open Bnet, since me and Tav tried a connection in TCP/IP and couldn't get one going. If you want to run Median on Open Bnet you need to make sure that the game.exe file in your base Diablo installation folder is the 1.11 or above file, otherwise Open Bnet will try to update your installation.
If anyone wants to contact me via AIM, I'm PwrMaxximus
The fact that the Sorceress has a skill that automatically gives her Mana after each kill is just sex.
And ZOMG - putting points in Energy actually makes sense now!
what does energy do :D????
Regen up over time ^-^???
I've always wanted that >_<;
Hmm, well, it's fun at the moment in Normal Act II.
Such a thing seems subject to change if what you say is true.
You gotta tell me when you're playing so we can play together :'(
I'd like to add that sin is the best class ;) good thing you guys think ranged attacks suck, sin is all mine :D
You are kidding me right? There's Chain Lightning that automatically targets every monsters on the screen, Apocalypse which does pretty much the same thing, Mana Sweep which not only hits every target but increases it's damage depending on how much mana you have lost, as well as Arcane Torrent, which increases in damage depending on how much MP you have compared to your max. So a sorc with a difference of 100 (say 10 mana when your max is 110) will do less damage than a sorc with a difference of 4000 (if you have 2000 mana when your max is 6000). Where you got this idea that they are useless is beyond me.
Druids got justice in either version. I'll pretty much be on all day.
Also, now that we are constructing a Median section of the DII adventures, I'll probably need people to submit information; at the very least, accounts.
Hey Tav, next time we're both on at the same time, d'you mind if I get the balance of the Tal set? Thanks!
Balance?
EDIT: I'm also on regular right now, I'm taking a short break from playing Median.
The Amulet and the Armor.
Well, then, get on.
Where did you read that I said they were useless..? And incase you missed it, I already said "sorcs who use arcane torrent won't WANT mp" so clearly I already know what it does.
Go ahead, pump energy completely, have fun spamming supernova 10 times to get your mp down low, and then switching to torrent simply to clear a room.
Alright, so, you're claiming a spell that steals some of your mana back is useful when the damage is based off your total lost mp.. hmm.. sweet, I can use it once and then I need to empty my mp again, DEFINATELY a frozen orb there! Oh, did I mention it has a spell timer, too?
Chain lightning..? There isn't even a spell called that and yet you're trying to debate something with me. Atleast get the correct name next time, I'll assume you were talking about Lightning CASCADE.
Maxx, I said GOOD mass killing spells, not just any. Sorc should be a class that walks into a room, and everything simply falls down, in normal that is. They suffer during hell, though, and need good equip to make up for it.
Again, I never once said they were "useless" I said they were probably the weakest class. Try proving me wrong.
Barb got their :skull::skull::skull::skull: nerfed, Snake Stance used to be incredibly overpowered, but even without it, they still manage to do :skull::skull::skull::skull:loads of damage. Fortress is amazing, and can clear rooms better than a sorc can, and that's just a skill you place down, not to mention his summons, and then his raw power to destroy.
Assassin can simply own everything, first off, they got blink, this is a spell that TELEPORTS you, at level 1. Though, not spammable, its still highly useful, did I mention it stuns everything around you in a small radius when you teleport to your location? Now, that's one skill, let's get into poison, they can do roughly 50k damage per second with their poison. You're thinking "yeah, well, if you're fighting poison immune, you're dead" not.. exactly, they have Death Blossom, it makes your melee hits shoot out an arc of fire, dealing fire damage to nearby enemies, and believe me, its quite powerful, especially if you have high IAS. Let's not even mention its a synergy for poison stuff, so its not even being wasted for "what if" situations. Premeditation.. Perfect Being.. do I even need to discuss these? Yeah.. let's lower all of our delay spells/skills so we can use them faster, I mean, who wants to be able to perma-stun a crowd of monsters with blink? I mean, I know I wouldn't! And pfft, who wants to prevent all damage by 65+%? Useless.
That's enough for Sin, let's move onto druid.
First off, their elemental stuff is simply better than Sorc, admit it or not. Charms? Let's see.. brambles.. is just amazing. Druids are the kings of attribute challenges.
Paladin, personally, I don't think the unholy is that great, but holy is really nice. Retaliate alone makes them insanely strong.
Necromancer, this class has been dumbed down so much it's not even funny, they're practicly a necro who summons demons, and not undead. So, you're trying to kill diablo and his brothers/sisters to save the world, and yet you're summoning demons yourself, makes sense to me. They've practicing became a support class, both to their minions and other players, both totems and support skills, they're simply really powerful, not in terms of raw damage, but their supporting options.
This is why I said Sorc is probably the worst, they simply don't have any reason to be there, they don't do as much damage as they should, and the only good thing they can do is heal 100% hp in 1 second.
Alright, that's it. Khaotic, you've pushed me over the edge. I'm taking a week off EoFF because I'm actually on the verge of saying something that will get me banned.
uhh..? Okay? Can't believe something I said about diablo made someone delete their sig/avatar, and leave a forum for a week. Your loss.
I think he likes his Sorceresses.
It was pretty fun to kill each wave of Baal's minions in one hit with Cataclysm; however, it is rather frustrating to have to switch skills so very rapidly once in Nightmare Difficulty - particularly when there seems to be more magic immunes than physicals. Some of the enemies are difficult to differentiate as they have the same graphic but different names: which in turn leads to different sets of immunities.
And what happened to the 15k dmg era of the Sorc?
I've tried the Necro and Sorc, so I think I'll give the Assassin and Barb a try now.
When I finally decide which one I like, I'll submit some information.
SMURFING INFERNAL MACHINE! WHY WON'T YOU DIE!
Because you touch yourself at night.
Okay, so I just learned about "soundchaosdebug."
Is it wrong that I wanna start telling newbies that it's some uber cheat?
Yes, it is. NEVER tell newbies ANYTHING.
Hey, be nice...having evil thoughts is a far cry from acting on them. :p
Newbies will take you seriously, and then they will tell other people without actually trying it. When peole do try it for themselves, or they already know what it is, they will try to stop this, and then the newbies will get angry and try to commit e-venge or e-harakiri, which in turn, will flood B.net with newbs of all sorts, and their stupid, asshat friends, which in turn, will cause my blood pressure to rise with having to deal with them.
Fair enough. I just have visions of some poor dimwit typing it in, and thinking I broke his computer. :p
Masturbation cat must of been reporting to the Infernal Machine.
Okay, not for the squeamish, but what the hell is this supposed to be?
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/mon...reziarfg.shtml
http://www.mobygames.com/game/diablo...ruction/triviaQuote:
On official Diablo II site Blizzard Ent. published information of a monster called Reziarfg. This beast cannot be seen neither in Diablo 2 nor Diablo 2: LoD. It is a joke as Reziarfg read backwards is Gfrazier - one of Blizzard employees.
http://www.battle.net/forums/thread....=1&#post163465
34. Where is the "Reziarfg" monster?
I can hardly believe I have not addressed this earlier, but anyway, here it is at last.
The Reziarfg monster does not exist. If you take a careful look at the spelling of its name, you will see that is in fact the name of a Blizzard forum moderator spelled backwards.
The monster is a joke, nothing more. It is not found in any game file, not even a hint. If it were there, the experienced modders would have found out long ago. There simply is no monster called Reziarfg in the game.
YES! I love realm downs for helping people with their equipment!
Ah. Cool.
[EDIT] @ Lou, not Tav.
Tav witnessed one of the greatest moments of Nom's stupidity today.
But I suppose such a thing isn't very select.
Median anyone?
*Nubcake question*
What are these guilds and clans I hear of from time to time? A few people have tried getting me to join their clan/guild, sometimes even with enticing items.
So, veterans of online Diablo, what exactly are these guilds and clans that I sometimes hear of? Are they good, bad, etc?
Anyone have a spare Wizardspike?
Guilds and clans were going to be an official thing in the game's system, but it was scrapped. If you hear of a guild or clan, they are just people that play together and give themselves a team name or something. I would say that we are a clan. A guild is a little too organized for us, and we are not as exclusive as guilds can be, but we are definately a clan.
Mulley had a Wizardspike, though I am not certain if he kept it or not.
I have a Wizardspike, but I have no access to my Diablo 2 account at this time. :(
Diablo II guilds and clans aren't really nubcake questions. This is a hard concept to grasp or explain.
Mostly, it is spill-off from the days of Starcraft popularity. In Starcraft, you could have what is called an Op channel, where a person, say "Moria" is currently in channel "Op Moria." Moria would have moderator functions, such as banning, kicking, and adding ops to a secondary "heir" (this is the offical term given from Battle.net when you "op" someone). People would often congregate in these channels with operational moderators (and heirs), and play together. This was done often because people were friends and had a common goal or interest, or even a style of gameplay.
Around 2002, Op channels and clans became much, much more proficient and widely recognized. While moderator options were not expanded, the release of the LotR movies began heralding a major shift in the maps played on Starcraft, called LotR (using LotR or Silmarillion heroes) or LotRish (using original heroes or stories). The premise of these maps is not necessary to know. During this time, Diablo had begun to get its synergies, forcing people to play in a party come Hell mode. Since Starcraft and Diablo use the same account information and realmtags, people would often switch on and off Diablo or Starcraft rapidly.
Essentially, Clans and Guilds are as SRL said. Clans are people who take common nametags (as account creation is incredibly easy), and play together, whether it be melee, UMS, or played DII. Guilds, however, aren't quite what one would think of in WoW (I also believe the WoW system is a bastardized version of Starcraft's), Guilds are simply a common group of people that share a common goal and may congregate in channels, but hold no allegiance to each other. Guild politics, while being severely anarchic, often did not have to deal with sabotage or things of the like, for people were merely associated, but not a part of something.
Whether they are good or evil, is really a question that could only be answered in the prime of their days. The Warcraft III system heavily contributed to popularity of Clans, since you can register "offical" clans, in the Warcraft III channels, and even something called "Clan" channels. The difference between these and Op channels, is that Clan channels are private unless allowed otherwise (they are also locked off when no one is in them, except Clan Members).
This leads to the conclusion that Ops channels can quickly be brought down by spammers (often Moderators and Spammers were bots), and force a disbandment due to raw confusion, and if successful, people would not know where to go and leaders would be forced to start over; Bots would sometimes lag from the spam, and disconnect, forcing no operational control. Clans can slo have up to 7 or 10 moderators, based on clan size. Clans in WCIII are disbanded only by Leaders (from 1 to all 10 of the original Clan founders), and all members are tagged until disbandment, and no longer need a new account (this is optional to make a new one). Strcraft players may join or be associated to WC clans, but are not offical members.
Clan politics are relatively close to international politics. Clans began dying out after the release of LotR: RotK, as the LotR buzz began fading. There are a few clans that survived, such as the ones on Warcraft III, if for melee (or non-LotR), and several DII and SC non-LotR clans.
Generally, I would discourage them, simply because they are needless trauma and pointless war making.
My, that was a bit to swallow.
Sounds silly to me. But why were they literally bribing me with torches (that I presume were duped or completely non-existent)?
Also, I found a Key of Hate if anyone needs it.
Because they need members. Simple as that. The reason behind it is unecessary to know.
For one reason or another, I found a Collosus Voulge and a Cryptic Axe within minutes of each other. Socketed, what might these be worth? 1 or 2 hrs?
I also found an Arioc's Needle with +3 Skills and 230% Dmg Incease. Is this worth anything?
If they are 4 or 5os the polearms will go for at least 1 hr. Infinity, Doom, Hand of Justice, Passion, Pheonix, Pride and Rift are all used on an act 2 merc (the first two being the most common), and socketed elite polearms are hard to come by. Some builds even benefit from an Insight all the way through their levels and end up putting Insight on an elite polearm (many who use an Insight only need it until @lv 75, so it gets put on an exceptional polearm). I don't think many people use a Cresent Moon, Breath of the Dying or Last Wish on their merc, but you might be able to sell a 3os or 6os one if someone wants to do that. I've seen all of the above runewords on act 2 mercs, but never those three. Still, you might get lucky. Also, due to the high str req on a Collossus Voulge you might not get that many takers on it. But you will definately get takers on the Cryptic Axe, which would be optimal for those runewords (unless it was ED-Superior and Ethereal, but those only exist in fairy tales  ).
Also, an Arioc's Needle is a common replacement for a lack of runeword Polearm, and you got the high end of the damage on that one. +3 to skills is not the highest, but still high. I would say you could get 2 hrs for that one.
I've decided to try and make a Hammerdin.
Any suggestions in terms of items and skills I ought to place effort in? What auras effect Blessed Hammer, what enemies are immune to this attack, etcetera etcetera...
Yes, I think one of my chars has a Wizardspike if anyone needs it.
/me is playing median all alone lately ;/
They are only worth something if 4Os, or ethereal. The CV is worth more than the Cryptic Axe, because it's max of sockets is four. However, if they are both already 4Os, then the CV will fetch a high rune. Keep the Cryptic Axe, because it;s not worth anything, but a 4Os Pole is a 4Os Pole. You won't get anything better, nor could you expect to. There's no way to get it to 2 high runes, unless it is the CV, Superior with maximum enhanced damage (15%), Ethereal, and already has 4Os, and even then, that's pushing it.
No, but as SRL says, it's a replacement for Insight, Doom, or Pride A2 mercenaries. No one uses anything else, because they aren't really worth using on a mercenary. Those with A2 mercenaries are always busting out the Auras.
Vigor - synergy, max
Hammers - main attack, max
Concentrate - provides a massive bonus, max
Blessed Aim - synergy, max
Holy Shield - defensive properties, as it goes
Don't waste ANY skills in anything unnecessary, or anything past where you need it to be. You will need all of these skills for an effective Hammerdin, because, guess what, Hammerdins that only do 10k are considered "low." FCR is incredibly useful and a major necessity. The best of Hammerdins can do up to 20k with the right Grand Charms.
Stat distribution should go something akin to this:
Str - enough for Enigma (~77 for DS, ~105? for AP) and other spellcaster equipment
Dex - none, all should be provided by equipment bonuses, your primary weapon should be Hoto
Vit - all
Mana - none
Equipment should be close to, or exactly this:
Helm - any +skills, Shako, Ber'd or Um'd
Armor - Enigma
Weapon - Hoto or Spirit, CtA for the BO on tab 2
Shield - HoZ or Paladin Spirit with 35+ natural resistance, low or spare Paladin Spirit on tab 2
Gloves - Magefists or Trang Oul's for the FCR, no real options here
Belt - anything with resistance, Arach's (LOL like you're gonna get that)
Boots - anything with resistance, you don't really have too many options here)
Rings - SoJ, Manald, or FCR with resistance
Amulet - either a Rare with +Paladin Skills, resistance, life, or mana, or a +3 Combat Skills or Offensive Aura magic amulet
Charms - Paladin Offensive Auras, Paladin Combat Skills, Lifers
If you're going for an MFer build:
Shako with Ist or PTopaz
Enigma
6 Ist Sword, Gull, Ali Baba's with Ist
Rhyme, Milabrega's, Splendor
Any gloves
War Traveler's
Nagelrings
Anything with MF
Any charms work
Your mercenary, you should only have at level 80, and until then, do Baal runs:
Insight on Elite Pole
Fortitude Armor
Any +Str helm, such as Guillame's or Natalya's, Dream
Aura - Holy Freeze, Defiance, Prayer
Don't worry about Immune monsters. Demons and Undead take full or extra damage. Only Magic Immune Animals are of any concenr, of which there are very few.
The latest page is uploaded:

I'll be developing the Median section next update, assuming anyone gets back to me.
8 PMs and only one response. I feel so neglected.
Even Psychotic and Lunarweaver are ignoring me.
EDIT: Diablo II is a smurfing Jewish game. I just lost a 33 Hoto for no goddamn reason, because I thought the game was still EoFF, when it wasn't. So I forgot the password, and couldn't get it back. Lost my Druid's gloves, also. Now I'm back down to 2 Hoto instead of three. A 33 Hoto lost is not worth a 37 made. smurfing Jewish game.
EDIT2: You know, I used to think that hacking was for newbs, or duping, but I see now it isn't. with a game that has nothing to support loyal players, Blizzard consistently attempts to screw you over, and will do anything in its power to do so. Hacking on SC and WCIII is still Jewish, by all means. But in DII it just seems that people are also trying to make up for unjustly lost items.
Yeah, well, doesn't matter anyways. I'm quitting Diablo for the time being, and focusing on Warcraft III. SRL has full access to all of my accounts, so ask him if you need something.
Will do!
So Tav, I sent you the PM before I read your post, so I already know the answer to my question. I'll keep your stuff alive, no worries.
Remember, I'm usually on after 6pm central time if you need anything from Tav.
I have made a full on dedicated Druid Summoner, named alphaSRL. He's kind of fun so far, we'll see.
Wow...has anyone looked at the Eastern Sun mod? Looks interesting. I may give it a test run over the next couple of days.
Need xfer really, really bad.
Tav rescued me.
As it turns out, I am somewhat competent at owning newbs on WCIII melee.
O_o Really? If I were to buy it, is it worth playing? I can get it for less than 5 $ new.
LOL no you can't. The last time I checked, WCIII was still 20 dollars per part.
Dude, there could be a store by him having a clearance sale or something, don't be so jumpy.
Anyways, what the hell is going on with median? It's like no one is playing it anymore, and someone is even mentioning a different mod? Should I just delete it or something?
The real driving force behind Median was Maxx Power. Since he is taking a break, it's kinda not being mentioned.
The fact that I can now do Countess/Andy/Shenk/Pindleskin/Duriel/Sumoner/Nihilthak runs in around ten minutes or less each has kind of halted my attempts to do anything more with Median.
I may yet come back and play Median again.
I just don't understand why you guys want to continue playing normal D2, I honestly cannot see what is keeping you guys playing the same old thing everyday, it's not even like a real mmorpg, the community is nearly non-existent, you need to risk dupes and other malicious trades, you do the same thing every_single_game, and there's nothing to even look forward to.
Atleast in something like Median you can do the uberquests, hunt for new items, make new runewords, and most important, you don't need to deal with Bnet problems.
I've tried understanding it myself, believe me.
My situation is a little different, in that unlike Tav, I haven't been playing Diablo online for four or more years. This is really my first or second year playing online, and really, I didn't play it religiously until four months ago.
But yes, the fact remains that I am basically doing the same smurfing thing over and over again. Why that entertains me, I don't know.
I'm still playing because I'm finding that I like making new builds. Before, I only played for 6-7 months and had a hdin, orb sorc, crappy frenzy barb, and a wonderful summoner necro. that was it. oh and mules.
Now I have another hdin, a good barb, another orbsorc, an elemental druid, and an amazon that's coming along.
And yes, Tav, there is a clearance, the regular WIII is 4:58 or something so because I get a 10% discount hells yes, I'll buy it, only assuming it's good.
Not to mention, each game has randomization. "Yeah, yeah" I hear, but for example: my Fire Sorc can clean the floor one time, but if I encounter Fire Immunes (Like the Undead Knights in Worldstone Keep/Chaos Sanctuary) I have to pray that my merc can handle them. not to mention, it helps that I'm building to achieve an item set, so that helps. In short...I dunno. Obsessiveness? I just know I like it!
SMURF YOU B.NET! SMURF YOU!
Go to hell, OMFG...
Nice and simple reason, Khaotic.
The first is that Blizzard fans are like abused little children. Despite the and suffering and dumbocracy of the Blizzard entertainment group, loyal fans will blindly come back for more, and defend Blizzard, foot and teeth.
 I could just give you addicts my stuff.
Is there a recipe to put sockets in a set item, or is Larzuk my only option in that matter?
Set items must come with sockets. Otherwise, Larzuk.
Don't socket set items unless you really need it. And most of the time, you don't need it.
Yeah, I just need to get a few more levels. Damn the Chains for making the Shield unusable otherwise. :(
I need a xfer really bad - again.
Thank you once again Tav.
Done.
There seems to now be Uber Duriel runs, which in fact actually net more experience than the classic Baal runs.
I found this kind of funny.
You have to kill Duriel first, but yeah, they do net more experience. I can gain a level with my 84 Paladin when he was but a mere 83 by clearing out Forgotten Sands by myself. that's because the monsters in the Uber areas are >85.
How do you get Forgotten Sands?
[EDIT] Oh, and does anyone have any +Strength Charms? Or a decent ring?
[EDIT2] Nevermind. Nom remedied my situation.
You synthesize three Keys dropped by the Countess, the Summoner, and Nihlathak, the Terror, Hate, and Destruction. Upon making, it will create one of three portals, one of which leads to an uber boss; one of them is Duriel.
This is part of the Uber Tristram Uber-Quest.
By using the Uber Duriel Mod, you can get it by a simple modification of the d2_patch.mpq file in your local Diablo II folder, and two major waypoints, Canyon of the Magi, and either the second or third in Act 5. The modification can be found here. However, note that this is, by definition, a modification, and you can have your account banned by playing this on the closed realms.
By the way, unless you have a pure, concentrated, magic caster build, you will have a very difficult time defeating Duriel. My 7k Zealadin and 5k Tornado Druid can't even defeat Uber Duriel easily. My Frenzy Barb can do this, but only because hisattackbeard is too fast for Duriel to handle. And you need micromanagement skills.
Oh, trust me...I don't have my hopes up just yet...:p
BTW, I'm putting out an APB if anyone happens to find a Rising Sun Amulet. I know my chances are slim on that one, but if anyone comes across it, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Muchos Gracias!
You already have Tal's Amulet. You don't need Rising Sun, unless you are going to completely revamp your build.
Tal's is good, but eventually I'll outgrow it. Rising Sun has excellent Fire Mods, plus, at high levels, an excellent Fire Absorb ability.
Sorceresses don't get hit. If you're getting hit, we have a problem.
Additionally, you lose the resistance and Set bonuses that come with the Amulet.
Hrmmm...I coulda sworn it was +3 to Fire Skills. Okay, I stand corrected. You are correct my friend.
My Auramancer has at last swollen to a very promising and lovely bud. I need only a small xfer of my Bramble and Dream helm, and I shall see these auras dancing about.
Lvl 9 Fanaticism
Lvl 20 Concentration
Lvl 15+ Might
Lvl 14 Holy Fire
Lvl 15 Holy Shock
Lvl 20 Thorns
Two of them aren't really needed, but I wanted to make something out of my Superior Troll Nest, and I already had a Bramble.
And I also happened to make a +6 BO CtA yesterday, effectively making my minions invincible.
2325.93 HP per Skeleton Warrior and 898.53 per Skeletal Mage.
And my Fire Golem will have 12976.53 HP. A Clay Golem would sit in the range of 48000 HP.
Eventually, without any charms, I will end up sitting in the 4000s.
There is one profound drawback to this build:
My resists are mangled pieces of :skull::skull::skull::skull:. I may just make a Sanctuary or try to find/trade resist all small charms to compensate.
This is a very fun build, and actually moves quite fast.
And blobbing is just plain lagomancer fun.
If you get on, I'll find a way to up your resistances without a major shift in equipment. Alternatively, you can tell me what you have equipped, by parts of equipment, right here.
Orted Shako, which I would like to replace with Um at some future point.
Beast'd Zerker
Spirit or Dragon shield. It's a requirement that I use the Spirit in Hell mode, due to its resists.
Trang's Belt
Trang's Gloves
Maras
2x SoJ
On switch, its CtA with Spirit
I do have some resistance small charms on a few other characters, but I believe I'll still be sitting in the negatives when those are applied to this character.
I won't be on until later today, as I have the day with my girl.
Trang's Belt could be replaced with Credendum of the Disciple set, which has +15 resistance, as the synergy for Trang's +40 Cold needs 3 items. Your Boots should either be Aldur's or high Natalya's. Armor should be Enigma, or Chains of Honor, if your resistance REALLY need the kick.
Generally, Summoners should use Enigma, just so you dont lose anything, but Summoners usually don't ever get hit. Ditch the Bramble, as Thorns can be provided by a little friend I like to call, an Act II mercenary, more specifically, Combat Nightmare.
Your merc could wear it instead, and you can opt for a Might/Defiance mercenary, but you sacrifice Fortitude. Then you can make a Doom, which has Holy Freeze, Pride, which has Concentrate, Hand of Justice has Holy Fire, Infinity (LOL YEAH RIGHT).
Can't use Last Wish because of Beast, but that may be covered by mercenary. Dragon can be worn, if you lack a Holy Fire.
I'll finish this up later after a response or further research.
I have the belt that Tav was talking about if you want it, I don't need it. I'll be later on tonight.
Thanks to half an inventory of resist charms, I am now sitting in the 30-60 range of all my resists (given, of course, by Tav).
Blob blob...
I may need Fire Res Charms...we'll see.
If I am going to Uber with this character, I am going to NEED a Vampire Gaze. Although it's not needed, an Infinity runeword. would be wondrous as well.
Would any of you happen to have a Vampire Gaze I could use, or know the trading value of one? The Infinity I ought to be able to make in due time, but I can't seem to find this seemingly very popular mercenary helm - the Vampire Gaze.
I gave you a Vampire Gaze?
GG, I think I gave you that, I know I gave someone a Vampire Gaze, and if Nom needs it, I have a number of probable replacements.
Never mind, I don't need an Infinity runeword like I stupidly thought I did. My Poison Mages ought to halt the Ubers' health regeneration. Additionally, Infinity doesn't provide an offensive bonus like my Pride does.
I haven't been on in forever, whats the general standard for gear nowadays. (PS, Im interested in joining the "hood")
I've been playing since the game came out, but not actively in the past 12 months or so. I have 2 level 85ish characters but sadly they are USWest and Non-ladder, but I am willing to start anew.
It depends greatly on what class and even more importantly, what build you plan on creating of that character.
Everyone continues to love and adore Shakos, Vampire Gazes, Crown of Ages; Torches, Annis; SoJs/BKs/Ravenfrosts; and Maras/Cat's Eyes/Highlord's/Seraph's; godly rare/crafted items, most notably circlets and ammies; skillers and res small charms with life mods; etc...
The above is quite general, as a Cerberus Bite means nothing to an Auramancer, but might make a Shapeshifting Druid quite happy.
In short, it depends on your class and build.
I got Nominus his Vampire Gaze.
I'll send you an information sheet, soon, unless someone else wants to send him one, instead. Once you get on, I may decide to pimp your character. If I get on, that is. Otherwise, SRL will be doing that for me.
Well my good characters on my USWest account... one is a Summoning Necro, he has Full Trangs, Arm of Leoric, Marrowwalk, SOjs, Mara, torch, anni etc etc etc.
My other is a sorc which really wasn't that great anymore. Trielemental (Thunderstorm, Meteor, orb) Lots of charms and the like but otherwise bland since I made her pre 1.11 (Pre-synergies)
But I love playing characters of all sorts. All my other characters worth anything were deleted long ago, but I also enjoy bowazons and assassins of any kind from time to time.
I just started a summ. necro on East, so that'll be the first char I build up.
Giga finds all my charms.
NOTE: I just noticed this thread has 1320+ posts, and around 12k views. This thread has become quite bloated, I think. It will one day eat another thread, I swear.
And Bad Karma, I play Necromancersstupidlyreligiously, so I will likely have some goods you can have.
I find all the Necro items PERIOD!
And I'm pretty sure this thread has a steady diet of "HU DO J00 LIK MOAR?!?!? TIFA OR AERIS?" threads.
Shut up, it was late.
EDIT: I <3 realm downs.
xD Restart your computer and then log back in, it always works for me.
Actually, I just realized why it was that I wanted the Infinity rune word so very much: 40% crushing blow. Pride may be glorious in how much damage it can create, but crushing blow is far faster.
Taking 1/8 or 1/16 off of Baal/Diablo/Mephisto's life makes a difference when they begin with 660k life (by the time they reach a level of health to where crushing blow no longer matters, the normal damage output ought to suffice). The chance to cut their life bit by bit means more in the end than what Pride gives.
Combined with Guillaume's Face, that's 75% of Crushing Blow on my merc.
And with a lovely mob of Urdars/Gorebellies/etc, there ought to be a a lot of Crushing Blow.
I don't think that the extra 40% is really needed, due to the Urdars, but having it would be rather nice indeed.
Muah ha ha ha. I am the winner.
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...rserkeraxe.jpg
Now I just have to find some runes really quick.
I believe it is high time I made an Enchantress
I hate those builds that are really boring until lv 30. Take for example the Singing Barb. Standard melee Barb until level 30, which quite frankly is boring. Battle Cry made it a tad interesting, but now that I have War Cry it's actually fun. I can Leap into the center of a pack and start War Cry-ing, and they are all stunned and helpless to do anything. This is the first time that the only real option for an act 2 merc is the Prayer one. Of course I'm not in nightmare yet, but I might try out a Thorns merc, just for the hell of it. None of their auras really help this character, except for Prayer, which helps a tad. Or maybe a Might merc for his own benefit. I don't know, but at least it's playable now.
CB does not stack. If you have a value of 25% CB, and 66% CB, those values will only trigger respectively, not additive. CB is also reduced in great proportions against bosses, particularly against Uber-bosses. The only character who can use CB is a Smiter, because they have a natural stun, Life Tap, and life. Urdars don't have that luxury, nor the IAS.
By the way, the ubers eat mercenaries as quickly as I drink water. And there ain't no one who drinks water like me.
Stick with the Pride. It won't matter how much damage your mercenary can do, because he will be dead the entire time. Plus, if your goons are going to hit the monsters in Tristram, they'll need all the damage they can get, not just one character, hitting something repeatedly, hopefully, not dying.
How does Crushing Blow work, anyways?
Percentage listed is the likelihood of doing that much percent from an enemy's HP or adds to damage, whichever is greater. Essentially, if you have 65% CB, there is a 65% chance for you to deal an attack that takes 65% of the enemy's HP, unless the damage you deal is greater than that amount.
Tav, are you sure you are talking about Crushing Blow?
Taken from http://battle.net/diablo2exp/items/magic.shtml#sma (scroll down a little)
Crushing Blow
This is a chance of reducing a monster's health by X% in a single blow.
-Default: 1/4th
-vs. Players: 1/10th
-vs. Hirelings: 1/10th
-vs. Champions, Uniques, Bosses: 1/8th
-with missile weapons, default: 1/8th
-with missile weapons, vs. Players: 1/20th
-with missile weapons, vs Hirelings: 1/20th
-with missile weapons, vs Champions, Uniques, Bosses: 1/16th
The life removed is also scaled with number of players. So that if a monster has 450% more life due to 8 players (or whatever the value is) the life removed is further reduced by the same amount (450% would equal multiplying by 4.5 so the life removed by Crushing Blow is divided by 4.5).
* It is possible to get up to 100% chance for Crushing Blow. Anything above 100% is discarded.
* Physical resistance does apply to Crushing Blow damage, but only if the resistance is positive.
* Crushing Blow Items stack in most cases.
* Since 1.10 Crushing Blow is calculated before your normal damage. So, before doing the damage that you would normally do, there is a chance you will reduce the health of the monster by X% then normal damage apply to the resulting lower life. If you have more than one item with Crushing Blow, the probabilities will be added together. There will be one random check for a Crushing Blow. There is no check for each separate item, so one can not get multiple Crushing Blows in one attack.
Hmmm.... I guess it will be a giant experiment when I go to Uber Tristram. If I have an Infinity (unlikely) I'll try that for a bit, and switch it out for a Pride half way through.
That is, of course, if I am not dead within three seconds of entering.
xD I don't know if I'm going to be able to play for a bit.
I broke the window in my room with my head.
<_<
It was an accident.
I tripped on my cat. xD
This is awesome.
True warriors play no matter the weather or situation.
Just shove your cat in the window space, being quite generous with the tape. Now the sun won't glare your screen, and you won't trip over your cat again.
Plus who has a furry window? You do.
Perfect fix.
xD My cat isn't large enough to fit in the hole.
It's surprising really, I barely it the thing and it popped right the hell out.
I said, "WTF, HEAD, WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!"
I'll get a picture in a few.
And then I'll force my kitty to stand next to it.
I am in need of a 4oS Phase Blade
Hey Nom! I have the Sickle for your Halo if you wish...and a Unique Bone Shield you may want to look at.
I've got all of trangs aside from the helm, let me know if any of you guys spot one.
I have one you can use
I've got Trang's Shield, Armor, and Gloves, but that's about it.
Ironically, for being the main Necro finder in the group, I have none of Trang's items... O_o I find this rather odd.
I'd rather that you continue finding P&B GCs, as opposed to Trang Oul's parts.
Well all I need is the helm and I should be good. I'll be on tonight after I get out of work.
You needed a gheed's?
Why didn't you say anything? I've had to let go a few of them because I can't carry more than one.
Didn't necessarily *need* one, but they do help, and I didn't have one for my Sorceress up until last night. :p
(Edited for accuracy)
I think I have a spare Gheed's somewhere.
I need low level gear that adds to strength.
Someone help?
I have some low lvl set stuff you can have. Not sure which of it boosts strength though.
Sigon's has Strength boosts.
But don't you need a lot of strength to equip most of it? Cim's necro's strength is around 20.
24 to be exact.
I thought it was 24.2?
NEVER omit the decimal! The decimal > All!
I'm sorry! 24.2 is my real life strength which, Monkey Man, is why I also asked you for some bad ass real life strength enhancing items.
My DII Necro's strength is exactly 24.
Pssssh. 24.2? I'm a solid 78 here... *flexes*
276 on Barbarian! Suck on that, popsicles!
My real-life Strength, is a mediocre 1. However, as I am almost 100% like Zexion, I use a Book to attack my enemies, and therefore, I am the smartest of the smart, and I have chemicals!
Eeesh...tomorrow I *HAVE* to xfer...but I found a cool Necro wand (surprise, surprise...)
Would someone mind getting on for like 5 seconds, pretty please? :D
Nevermind.....yay!

I need a few of your brains to help my own shriveled up one.
For my Enchantress Sorceress, I'm wondering if I ought to place all my points in Mana instead of Vitality.
I wonder if this may be a better option than Vitality due to the fact that Energy Shield will absorb around 93-95 percent of all damage done in exchange for around .75 Mana per point of damage. Additionally, there are items that boost maximum Mana by a very substantial amount , whereas I have yet to see an item give a maximum Life boost of 40% or 25%. Obviously, the higher the base number, the greater the percentage increase. A Sorceress also gains more Mana than Life per level.
And since I'm maxing Warmth and Enchant due to its bonuses (Increased Dmg, AR, and duration), "Life" will have a recovery rate of around 360%. I've thought about using an Insight mercenary, which would give me a Mana regeneration of around 1060%, but I don't know how applicable that would actually be. And the Conviction Aura is somewhat needed due to Sorceresses not having any skills other than Enchant that grant AR bonuses - not to mention the fact that such an aura removes most Lightning and/or Fire immunities.
3000 or so Mana is quite a barrier, if I do say so myself, and made even more so when each point of damage done is literally reduced by a 1/4 before my ES feels the brunt of it. But that barrier can be broken, especially since it takes full damage instead of receiving resist bonuses (I believe). Only my Life receives such a luxury. And the scary part of it all is that I would only have around 580 Life if I pour points in Mana instead of Life.
It's a shame that resists are not factored in until after Energy Shield has taken damage, because I ought to have 74% resists on all elements in Hell difficulty - a feat usually only achieved by Paladins.
So I'm not entirely certain what route I ought to take. I have done a number of test runs in Single Player, and placing all my points in Mana instead of Life seemed a better option. The only real issue I had when placing all my points in Mana instead of Vitality was when I came across hordes of Lightning enchanted Scarab Beetles in the Worldstone Keep. For one reason or another, these slaughtered me (probably because of the resists not being factored in for ES), even going so far as to crash the game.
But everything else, I was able to kill (and with ease, I might add) and survive with payers set to 8 - including Baal's Minions of Destruction.
Everything dies in one or two hits, and Baal dies in around four or five.
31897 average damage is sexy (without Conviction Aura from Mercenary factored in).
*An interesting thing I found out is that I am almost immune to the curses Weaken and Iron Maiden. Since all my damage comes from a stacked Lvl 30 Holy Shock aura and Enchant, The effects of Weaken or minimal, and Iron Madain only caused my Mana to deplete by around 700-1000.
EDIT: I was thinking that it may prove beneficial for all of us playing to make a list of items that we are currentlyIN NEED OF, OMFGlooking for. It may a compliment to the character sheet, or I could simply post updates every week.
If this sounds of any use or interest to you, PM me.
And I need a pair of Frostburns, along with any Small Charms with the following mods:
Fine (AR)
Steel (AR)
Iron (AR)
Serpent's (Mana)
Vita (Life)
Balance (FHR)
Any small charms that deal more than 20-30 Fire or Lightning damage.
To be honest, I don't know how Energy Shield works best, nor Enchant. I know that there are some attacks that can ignore Energy Shield, and ALWAYS deal Life damage. With boosted Mana, you will also have to worry about Blood Curse.
You will have to worry about your Mana instead of your life, but Warmth and Insight could take care of that, if you're completely drained of Mana. You could also invest in one of the Ice Armors, if you have some spare skills.
BTW, both my Druid and Hammerdin have full resistances in Hell. My Barbarian and Zealadin can cast Fade.
Shriveled brains are a sign of intelligence, since the greater the creases in your brain, the more information.
It will net me more points if I devote points into Energy instead of Vitality, so I think I'll do that.
As for the attacks that pass through ES... I guess I'll either have to kill very swiftly or Tele away.
And yes, one of the Ice armours is most definitely needed for the Defense boost (~65%).
My characters always suck when it comes to resists, so this is something new to me.
And yes, indeed, shriveled brains are more intelligent, but I fear mine sometimes goes lax.
What weapon do you think you will use?
Two-handed or one-handed?
One handed:
Phase Blade (Passion Runeword)
LOL Dexterity rating.
EDIT: Are you considering Max block rate with Stormshield?
Does anyone have a spare set of Aldur's Boots I could use? Even just for comparison purposes for my Sorc...tonight that is...damn this working for a living thing...*grumble, grumble*
I think I gave out my last one, but if you're on when I am, my Druid can lend his to you.
No, I'd rather you not have to strip a functional character for me, but thanks!
Does anyone know if you can stack auras on your character? I know you cannot do this on your mercenary any longer since there was a bug involved in stacking auras on your merc (duping or making you invincible - something of that nature).
But I haven't read anything that says if you can or can't do this on your character....
Define stacking, please, as my merc has Prayer and Meditation, and both work seamlessly, I think.
Stacking would be when you have two auras of the same, such as a Dream Helmet and a Dream Shield. Both grant a Lvl 15 Holy Shock aura, and if they stack, they would then net me a Lvl 30 Holy Shock aura.
So basically, its adding like aura levels up.
With a Lvl 20 Lightning Mastery, the Lightning damage bonuses of a high Holy Shock aura are insane.
However, you can't do this on a merc now, and the same may or may not be true for your actual character.
Putting on the same Aura twice on a character. For example, a Paladin with Last Wish, and Might skilled to level 20. Having Might active while Last Wish is equipped, would be stacking.
Different auras, such as Prayer and Meditation, work normally, and are calculated independently of each other.
However, in Diablo II, the non Holy Auras cannot stack. The one that is the strongest will take over, unless multiple characters have the same item. The character with the strongest source will apply to others, but the one with a weaker source will apply based on whose was cast (or switched) the most recently.
In simpler terms, if I had two Paladins, one with a level 15 and a level 12 Concentrate, the level 15 would affect everyone. However, if the level 12 switches his skill to his own Concentrate, his Concentrate will be calculated, instead of the 15. However, this does not compromise allied damage.
This seems to be my understanding of the situation.
I haven't found it either. Continuing on from my previous paragraph, normally, Auras don't stack. However, the Holy Auras (Fire, Freeze, and Shock) are supposedly able to stack. I've never heard of them duping, but they can make you riggedly uber. I believe that in the patch notes, this was stopped in a previous patch, but I do not know for sure., since Blizzard patch notes are so reliable.
This seemed to only apply to Mercenaries, when I heard about it, however.
I, personally, would go with the safer route, and make a Dragon shield.
I think they apply differently when enemies have the same aura. However, Conviction is an exception, and why is of a complete mystery to me. Conviction doesn't affect its caster.
Yes, Mephisto's Conviction can be cancelled when a Paladin has a level Conviction > Mephisto's. The one from Mercenary and Infinity is too low to be boosted, and Mercenaries tend to die. Alot.
Mercenaries suck.
You suck!*
In the context that Auras are your god, and therefore, you should bow down.
I still remember when I was first playing D2 I was getting pissed at my crappy Rouge hireling because she kept dying. I was playing a Paladin and I had to keep Prayer on, pump points into it and burn through mana potions like crazy(this was before you could buy mana potions at the store). All just to keep my stupid merc alive.
Yeah, Vanilla mercenaries kinda suck.
EDIT: Also, for those who are interested, there is a new update of Median.
http://files.filefront.com/7248199
We can obviously still use our old characters.
Melee characters don't need mana regeneration.
No, but bombardier sorceresses do.
When anyone has the time, a rush would be most appreciated as I'll be a sitting duck until Lvl 24, and I won't be able to deal any worthy damage until Lvl 65.
I think leveling will be the most difficult part, but, perhaps I ought to persevere solo, as I think it's time I finally had a challenge of sorts.
LOL rollback. As a result, we have lost two precious posts from this thread. We should all now take a moment of silence for those two threads, and approximately 30 PMs to Psychotic.

Now that that's over with, we may proceed. A new version of Median, 1.51.

By the way, EoFF fails.
Just so people know. The computer I usually play on is currently offline so I wont be on for a couple days or so.
I like Pokemon, I'll not be on for a bit.
It is impossible
What is impossible?
Okay, I'm looking for an opinion for my Uber build for my sorc (Aside from the fact that I have a LOT of wishful thinking going on...)
Helm: Dream. Decent Res. All (5-20 I believe) and if Lightning Mastery Affects the active aura, all the better.
Armor: Chains of Honor. I have it, and it quite simply can't be beat. Massive Resistance bonus, good skills boost, can't lose!
Shield: Spirit. Pretty much, see above.
Weapon: Heart of the Oak. A whopping +3 all skills and a myriad of sweet bonuses. Plus, as a flail, it can help me out if I need to duke it out (God forbid...)
Boots: Aldur's. Have 'em, but it balances the Fire that Spirit lacks.
Here's where it gets into Wishful thinking:
Belt: The Spider Belt (It's name eludes me) solely for another +1 to skills.
Ammy: Mara's Amulet
Rings: A SoJ and a Bul Kathos (Yeah, right. :p)
Any suggested tweaks?
I would dye her hair bright orange and give her a tattoo.
There will be no Avril Lavigne references in my thread.
Helm should be Shako. Dream does not help Lightning skills at all, since Holys only affect melee damage.
Weapon should be an Eschuta's. It is much better than Hoto, damage-wise. Sorceress don't hit with melee weapons. Ever. And I do mean ever. Same skill bonus (if found properly), and a bonus to damage percentage. By the way, Flails don't actually deal damage once past Normal Act I.
Belt is Arach's.
Both rings should be an SoJ. Bul Kathos is for melee characters only, since Sorceresses don't use Lifesteal or Manasteal.
