I hope none of you are using the crippled Windows Vista yet

Looks like playing any sound in Vista will temporarily cripple your computer's ability to talk to other computers over the network, which includes the Internet as well for the most of you that use routers - transfer speeds drop drastically, even to 0 for a few seconds in the case of Windows making it's usual random sound effects :p Especially great for online gamers :D

I guess I've been bored lately what with posting 10000000% more threads than I usually do due to reading more of other stuff online :p

I got vista with my new laptop last February. I haven't come across any serious problems, but I did notice that when I start up music everything freezes for a couple of seconds x.x

I'm not using Vista for a long while yet.

A friend of mine has Vista installed in a brand new high-spec PC he purchased. I've always been aware of the fault Vista has been said to have but i've never seen anything that would count as a major fault or even an annoying minor fault in the running of it on his system.

In fact, watching him use it makes me seethe with jealousy. It might not be as fixed as XP but it has so many tiny things that make it worthwhile having that XP feels so inadequate. For instance chess, as a standard game, translucent bars at the top of windows. Interactive desktops to a beautiful new standard, window Media Centre, the lovely new design, the ability to lock and encrypt folders instead of just hiding them etc.

It all just fits into place that little bit more than XP. I know if the sound issues actually affected much I would get so irritable when playing music or gaming, but as it stands I'm dying to get my hands on a good pc and then Vista.

I'm still using XP, and I don't have any intentions of upgrading to Vista.

I don't think that I will be switching to Vista any time soon, simply because it looks dreadfully uncomfortable.

Now I have more reason to laugh at my brother's Vista-pre-installed laptop.

I got my Vista installed laptop today and it works like a charm. Been playing online games on it and nothing of the sort happened, so you know. :monster:

And besides, the Vista icons are gigantic and it looks overcrowded.

I heard theres lots of odd pop-ups that appear and slow the computer A LOT and are difficult to get rid of.

First games and music CD's, now sound, internet and operating systems, what will cl_out destroy for us next :(

I use Vista at work, and I find it works fine, if a little bit awkward, but that's just for spreadsheets, acknowledgments on Word, data entry on Access, and reading the odd article on BBC News over the Internet when I have the time, so I haven't experienced any difficulties.

Though Adam tried to download Flash on his computer so his step-daughter could play online games, but it wouldn't have it. :mad2:

I think it is designed for business use rather than anything else. Which blows. :(

I'm never upgrading to Vista. I never upgraded to Windows XP due to the fact that Windows 2000 is the best OS Microsoft ever came up with. The only time I'll ever upgrade to another Microsoft OS is if they build it off Windows 2000. I expected there to be lots of problems with Vista. We had many problems with XP in this same way, may of them were never fixed (i.e. compatiblity issues), rather they just made new hardware and software work with XP rather that fixing XP to work with existing hardware and software. Too many of my programs won't work on XP due to the fact that they haven't been upgraded since XP came out and XP didn't fix the compatibility issues. I strongly recommend anyone who has Vista or XP upgrade to Windows 2000. Yes. I meant upgrade. Just because it came out sooner doesn't mean it's inferior. In fact, it's quite the opposite in this instance.

It took long enough for me to stop screaming in rage all the handholding that XP wouldn't let me switch off. Thanks for the offputting.

If you guys are using vista for the pretty effects, get a mac already. Or run beryl in linux 8)

Anyway, we have one pc with vista. I hate it so much. So many problems when we first got it, and I'm not even sure what's in the system since I refuse to look at it until something breaks.

We will have to support vista eventually, but thankfully not until years later, when hopefully most of the stuff will be patched and compatibility with all existing hardware (but says nothing about new hardware) may be resolved.

hah.

I am sticking with XP for long as I can. I am not touching Vista unless I absolutely have to.

My dad got his vista computer like a month after Vista came out and when he went off for business one weekend I played on it like a crazy person. I didn't see anything wrong with it. :D Vista's spiffy. *high-fives Dan* :razz:

My dad got Vista for free but we don't have a computer to run it on yet. Go Macs!

I've been using Vista for about three months now and it's been pretty much fine. It thinks that CS crashed when I close it myself, and it has occasional trouble with Firefox. I can play music and WoW or CS at the same time no problem.

And... as if you didn't need more reasons to AVOID VISTA, here you go!

Same here. When I was visiting my family members, they had Windows Vista installed on their computer, but I didn't really like it. Fortunately they still had Windows XP installed there, so I kept using it instead.

I played around with a hacked vista version, it was pretty. although my PC hated it. well not so much that it hatged it but it hated me and crapped out. Of course my mother board was also in pretty shakey shape.

I have Vista. It really sucks, because so many things aren't compatible with it >.< I had an mp3 player but I couldn't install it on my computer because it's pretty old and doesn't go with Vista.

Y'know what's funny? My mp3 player only works on Vista XD

Vista is good, stable and reasonably fast to boot and run...

Thing is i've got Server 2008 Beta...and that minces EVERYTHING! It is literally faster and more stable than XP whilst having features of and being simaler in architechture to Vista making it almost future proof. Simply put Server 2008 rocks!
