so i made my decision.....im getting the 360
now which package should i get?
the pro or the elite
there is a $100 diffrence
idk what the diffrence is, my friend says that they fixed the overheating system in the elite which explains the price....and my other friend says that pro brings more
im so lost :confused:
which package should i get? or do you guys have any other suggestions....
also do i need to buy a wireless network adapter? (another $100) to be able to do xbox live? =/
Pro. The overheating "fix" (which is, the new Falcon motherboard) is in all of them now, not just elite.
Personally, I bought the Pro. I don't think it's worth the extra $100 unless you have a black console fetish and an HDTV.
Doesn't the Elite also come with a bigger hard drive? I have the Elite one and it came with a 120GB hard drive; I don't know what the Pro comes with.
Get the elite if you want to put alot of movies and music on your HDD.
If you dont then get a Pro. Your wasting $100 otherwise.

The Wireless adaptor is only necessary if you plan to go online using a wireless connection.

Then if it's too far away to directly connect to, you'll need an adapter. Unless you want to try something like this.
Pro is compatible with original xbox games, which is also a plus. But if you don't plan on playing those then I guess the elite is for you.

All Xbox 360s are backwards compatible with the exact same Xbox games. I think Shiny might be confusing it with PS3 backwards compatibility. :P
Yeah, pretty sure it's all software emulation (hence why they've had to patch in compatibility in the past), so there's not much worry about playing old games.
Keep in mind, though, that there are still original Xbox games that don't work on the 360.

Yeah, you'll need the wireless adapter, if you have a wireless router for internet connection. Personally, I'd go with the Pro, which is what I have. It works great. You really don't want to shell a huge amount of money that could go towards that $100 adapter.

Aren't Live Arcade games capped at relatively low sizes? Like 100mb or something? I mean, even with DLC for games you're not necessarily going to fill that 20gb hard drive that fast. Not really enough to warrant the extra $100, especially if you lack an HDTV.
That was the thing that sold me. The hard drive is worth more than the price difference (currently, anyway). But really that is the ONLY difference. I figured I'd be downloading a lot though and I have been. I've filled about 30 gigs with demos and videos for prospective games since February. But if you don't intend on going crazy with that kind of stuff you can definitely survive with just 20
No point getting the Elite. Just get the Premium one with the average hard-drive.

It comes with component cables. Not HDMI. HDMI is better. Not that an Elite is worth it for the cable alone; you can pick one of those up individually on the cheap.Quote:

Really, if you want HDMI and are apprehensive about the drive space, you should just go for the elite. The 'Pro' is $350, Elite is $450. That HDMI set for the 360 is $50 (others on the BestBuy site are actually more expensive), which makes that 'Pro' 360 cost $400 altogether.
