Form of hero and sidekick... Go!

If you could pick any two characters from the Final Fantasy series to form a crime fighting duo, who would they be? This would be a "classic" duo where the lead hero is calm, suave, sophisticated and always comes through whereas the sidekick is there for more of a comedic effect whether it's with wisecracks, hiding from danger or getting the duo into more trouble than they were in in the first place.

I'm going to pick Barret and Zell. I can see Barret being a no-nonsense kind of guy that gets the job done while Zell opens his mouth and gets them into more trouble. After Barret gets them out of trouble he has to smack Zell around for the trouble he caused.

id go for stiener and rikku
stiener would be the (sotra) serious ass kicker while rikku would be the eye candy humour

Auron would go "No time to waste. Let's go!" and Barret would be all " YEAH MAN".

I'd want Ashe and Squall to Team up, cos they'd be so angry and emo together it would be great.

Maybe Vincent and Rinoa, cos they both have long dark hair, she wears blue and he wears red, hes all emo and shes all peppy.
that would probably work until they meet up With Kingdom hearts Squall/Leon who would try and trade Yuffie for Rinoa, and Vincent would probably accept as Yuffie'd outfits are littler and thusly qualifying her as a better sidekick, ya know like Batman and Robin, Robin has little outfit.

What about Aerith and Sephiroth, but i think that will end badly...

Cloud and Lightening, for the sheer brilliance of there names being in the same ilk.

Cid and Edge from FF IV. I think it would be quite an awesome team up.

Cid is quite an ass kicker and swears like a sailor. While Edge swears like a ninja sailor and is quite a ladies man. It's a team full of win.

Because it would be funny to see Squall bossed around by a little girl.

You've got the straight guy and the 'wacky' zany character to liven things up. Naturally they'd be thrown together in some pretty unbelievable circumstances and have to overcome their own prejudices and cultural norms to fight crime until one day, they can see things from the perspective of the other guy.

Either that or Gogo and Barret. "I'm gonna kick some Shinra #@%&." "*mimes.*" They'd get along just fine.

No super hero duo could possibly beat Kefka and Cid (FF VII).

They have the added benefit of being able to have a love story too!

I'm always for the serious super hero with the comic relief sidekick.

Oh Barret and Gau would be great too. I could see Barret eventually loving the little guy. =x

Squall and Rosa . But I don't think that would be a good team because Rosa could end up dead because Squall wouldn't care if Rosa was in trouble .

Gau would make the perfect side kick to just about anyone

But i'd pair him up as the side kick to Sabin who fights crime with mighty fists of BYAAAH!!!

I'd love to see Selphie and Yuffie actually try to get things done. That would be amusing. Or worse, Yuffie and FFX-2 Rikku.

Rinoa and Rosa wouldn't be too good, either. They'd keep getting captured all the time.

Yuffie's actually pretty good at getting stuff done, But if she teamed up with Rikku i can bet that the outfits they would deem to be appropriate between them would be practically non-exitent.

Rikku "Yeah bikini tops are perfect for snowboarding."
Yuffie: "Hmm but we should be sure to put on hotpants, we wouldn't want to get cold now!"

Barret&Zell thing is definetely the best duo in this thread.

Umaro and Sabin would one cool team because they could use cannoball move a´la Wolverine and Colossus. Umaro tosses Sabin who has his claws ready to strike.

Sephiroth and Edward would work fine together, at least in final
battles where Edward could sing One winged angel and Sephiroth would do the killing Cloud and his friends.

Rude and Selphie. Rude would have to always save Selphie from trouble she gets. Rude would be also very pissed by all the questions Selphie asks.

Leila and Cyan. Cyan and Leila are crushed on each other but can´t be together because Cyan doesn´t approve Leilas ways of robbing people. Together they would kick bad guys asses with daggers and katanas.

Setzer and Yuna. Setzer is Yunas guardian but he has big gambling problem and he would play all Braskas money and Yuna has no idea about this but wonders why they always walk and never take chocobo ride or shoopuf.

I would go with Auron and Palom or Porom ( Whichever is the boy because the girl is more mature) although they might be too young

Balthier and Fran... oh wait...
Anyway, Wakka and Zell would probably make for some hilarious gay antics.
Squall and Zidane's Daggers would make a good match. You know, with the cutting.

Irvine and Tifa, tho i think it might end in one hell of a sexual harrasment tribunal.

Princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII and Princess Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca, they could bond over having very long names.

I'll add another vote for Vincent/Yuffie. They'd make a neat duo, as they do in Dirge of Cerberus, and the throbbing sexual tension would keep people guessing too.

Hmm... how about Lulu and Cid Highwind? They're both serious, intelligent and mature, but Cid's recklessness and foul mouth would put him at odds with the quiet and sophisticated Black Mage.

YES, i recon that would be incredibly amusin. Dirge of Cerberus made me realise the awesomeness of these two characters, they are the best thing about the game (doc that is), but they are best as a team.

For sheer randomisity i suggest B'gamnan and Relm, look how she got Ultros to calm down for a second, she could keep B'gamnan in check i think

I'd have to say General Beatrix from FF9 and Gilgamesh from FF12. THAT would be a great, but very random team.

Anyway.

The only appropriate answer is the Double G (G is for Gar, obviously, and an homage to Gurren Lagann's http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif[/img]-JUST-GOT-REAL-75961992"]Double K), Galuf and Gilgamesh. Galuf is the good cop and the straight man, with a burning passion for justice and the notable accomplishment of being one of the only two interesting characters in the game. Gilgamesh is the loose-cannon funny guy to complete the duo, and the both have hilarious antics together. Gilgamesh also has the notable accomplishment of being one of the only two interesting characters in the game.

Balthier as leading man, with Quistis as his side-kick. Both are some of the most interesting characters, and they would contrast with each other so well.

Although its not a traditional hardcore lead with comic relief sidekick.

Reno and Rinoa. I would like to see her reject and continuously deject Reno's sexual movements.

Cid from FFIV and Galuf from FFV. They would obliterate all evildoers with the sheer awesome of their Beards.
