I learned something new today! You know those vans that are employed by councils on aging and other help-for-the-elderly groups that provide wheelchair accessible transportation to the eldery? Well, those are called "ambulettes".

I didn't learn anything today, but last night I learned how buttons were made. I have since forgotten most of it though.

Were you watching "How its made" or a similar show on Discovery? I saw an episode with buttons on it. But I usually forget the majority of those shows. >_>Quote:

Yes, you are exactly right MadeOfApples. I love that show because they always show crap that at first I think "I don't care how that is made" and then as it goes a long I think "wow, that's a lot more involved than I thought it would be."
Of course, I wasn't in charge of the T.V. at the time. I probably wouldn't have even watched it otherwise.

Those shows always sound uninteresting but once I start watching them, I have to finish the whole episode. The narrator is a little dull so I don't remember a lot of what I learned -_-Quote:

I just didn't know what pas translated as.
The only things that my mind could fit in there was "don't" and "very" and by the looks of it, I didn't type that in my last post.

I learned that in Rhode Island, people actually have to pump their own gas, since there aren't gas attendants in like, 90% of the stations.

It's required by law in New Jersey. It's just a happy convenience in New York. It's going to sound kind of ditzy, but I wasn't aware that people even pumped their own gas until a few years ago. It's just that expected here.

I found out Mexico isn't the only place where people pump the gas for you.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up this morning. Still remember most of what I tried teaching myself yesterday.
I've just been trying to piece together words to form sentences in French with an English to French dictionary. Translating them in google goes fine but when I try to translate sentences in to French from English, I just get confused with the result.
Should check myself a French language book at the library.
Today, I learned that there was a naval battle in the Aleutian Islands during the Civil War.
It's harder than you might think, MadeofApples :( I read a very good children's book about firefighters this summer in France though! It took me a long time to read it through and I reread it a couple of times for comprehension xD
I learned that if I plan on picking up a job application from any place of business, I should call and ask them to hold on to one for me and tell them my name so that when I get there they don't tell me "sorry we're out and our printer's broken" and end up still working a part-time job with 10 hours a week for another year.
I have the worst luck. :(
Never, in my nearly 30 years of life, have I ever had someone pump gas for me. It is such a simple task, I can't comprehend needing to have someone on staff at a fueling station for this purpose.
Once again, I didn't learn anything today. I think I might be at a point where I have nothing left to learn!
