Exes, E-mails, and wtf.

I've recently received and e-mail from an ex-boyfriend of 3+ years ago! He says that he harbors no ill feelings toward me and hopes that the feeling is mutual.

But wait! HE was the one that lied and cheated. Not me. So...why did he ever harbor ill feelings toward me at all? Did I make him become the horrible bastard he was to me? He's apologizing three years too late! If he's really apologizing at all.

The fact is, he's ceased to exist in my thoughts and life so I couldn't care less. Just a bizarre moment that I will soon forget.

Have any of you had e-mail/phone/run-into experiences with past significant others? How did it go? Were you the cheating bastard apologizing too late? These run-ins can be very interesting! So please share.

Hmm, I was playing L4D yesterday and my ex-faincé messaged me via steam to tell me he was joining the Air Force... :\

No ex's to deal with, but I did have an interesting conversation with an old flame. It was three years after the fact, and it was interesting seeing what had changed over those years. But for me at least, I got closure on the whole situation.

I thought this thread was about *.exe files in e-mails. I was greatly disappointed.

Haha yeah an ex of mine commented on my myspace earlier this week and has been texting me. And he was starting random drama. I was just like, "LEAVE ME ALONE! All you ever do is say mean and hurtful things anytime you contact me. Stop texting me stop contacting me leave me alone."

Had to block him. It was very annoying. His new girlfriend hates me and so she's been telling him random stuff about me that she's made up that he finds he needs to yell at me for. :roll2

Oh wow, this is a crazy coincidence. I was bogged down by drama with this girl for the latter half of '08. I have since broken all communications with her, but we're not on bad terms, or anything. I've been thinking about her a lot this summer and even saw her at a park and it took my best friend threatening our friendship to keep me from talking to her (which was and still is for the best). Tonight, there's a very high chance that I'm going to see her at a mutual friend's birthday party. I don't know what I'll do, but I guess I'll report back later! :D

With your ex, Gigs, I'd say that if he was the cheater and he thinks that he has something to forgive you for, then there's a good chance that in the 3 years you've been broken up, he hasn't grown up. It shows that he really hasn't considered what you went through he put you through with his actions. Perhaps it is best to stay away.

You're so right Big! I mean, it made me realize how far past that I've come in the last three years. I don't feel upset that he e-mailed me, I don't feel...anything. I just really couldn't care less because I've moved so far beyond that. And obviously he didn't get closure on the way he treated me and ended our relationship! Ha! It's just so weird!

I've often thought about going back and telling all of my exes that I was sorry for being such a huge dick to them, getting them hooked on crack and telling them that their best friend is far-and-away hotter than they will ever be. Then I remember that I'm too awesome to apologize for something that was true.

My ex from last year always seems to run into me. For example, I've never been to my brothers uni, but a while back I went there at night to help him do some computer crap.

We walked into the megalab and I hear someone say my name, I turn around and I saw her face. ohhh :bou::bou::bou::bou: i thought L.O.L

Haha she wasn't really an ex, just a girl who thought she could have her cake and eat it, too. But thanks, anyway!

It's only happened once like a year ago. And she was trying to reach my mom. No idea why, but she sounded bored. I made up and excuse and hung up cause she'd talk for a really long time if I let her. I don't know if she ever got in contact with my mom or not, but I didn't go home that weekend.

I usually like talking to exes after all the hurt is gone.. If they are nice it gives closure. And if he still is a jerk, I just feel sooo happy I got over him :D

Yes :D I think that's what my e-mail showed me! That he hasn't grown up and I have! I am tempted to respond to say something like "Hi, my life is wonderful! Thanks for asking! I'm so in love and happier than I've ever been. I hope you can get past your issues and have a good life."

But I think no response is probably the better way to go.

Giggles, I'm sorta in the same predicament myself.. I wouldn't call her my ex per say, just some older college T.A I was having an affair with three years back..Anyhow she turned out to be something else and so I checked myself into HeartBreak Hotel for few months duration...




Now the past is behind me I don't really care three hoots and a monkey about her, but she every so often texts me and chats me up as if nothing on earth happened!

Plus the gall of it all is that she supposedly on of the most well liked and popular person around... It still irriates me when someone mentions her... But I bite my tongue and compliment about her work achievements rather than how she us the Lying Gorgon of a Woman who probably has slept with most of the Male Faculty and the Janitorial staff...

I say you tell her as kindly as possible that even though you enjoy these little chats, you don't care, even a little. Maybe that will help!

Nope but I've been hanging out with one of my friends all week and we ran into two of his exes, both of whom playfully abused him much to my amusement.

Nope. No matter how mutual or eminent the break up is, none of my exes ever wants to talk to me after. It kind of sucks, but I'm used to people coming and going out of my life rapidly that I would be more surprised if they stuck around. C'est la vie.

But that might be because I'm always the one doing the breaking up... :greenie:

I think I'm on pretty good terms with my exes now! I'm not bitter at any of them anymore!

Whats strange is that she been doing that since after I checked myself out of heartbreak..I know for a fact that she is dating some "Geneva Guy" and while I happily non commited to anyone.

My ex said he wanted to be friends after he broke up with me and then got upset when I was still hurting a week after he broke up with me, and he couldn't understand why I was still upset, so he was quite a jerk to me. So, Alan and I logged into his myspace and changed it up a little :D

I received a similar message from an ex-girlfriend of mine who contacted me via Facebook roughly two years after we broke up. She attempted to whitewash the entire relationship and its problems and asked after me. She wanted me to reply to the message to let her know how I was doing but I have no regrets that I felt sufficiently cold to not reply at all as the message just made me quite angry. After all, I rather liked not having to deal with her and I found her message to be intrusive and annoying.

Actually yes. It was even Erik from here (eoff). He didn't talk to me for like 3 years (I guess it was), and then we suddenly talked again. Its very occasional now though. Heh... I forget exactly what happened, I think he like, randomly texted me or something and was like, 'um I'm in the National Guard now! CHICKENS!' and stuff.

Most of my old exes or flames either never talk to me again, or try to be friends like nothing ever happened. I tend to not float that way. One really old flame eventually came to terms with things and apologized profusely before we finally stopped talking completely. Not on purpose, just life took effect and pulled us apart. Nice to have closure first. And one ex I'm still willing to talk to once in a while as an old friend. But she apologized too. The ones who screw me over and then think "oh wait, he's a good friend type, so I wanna keep him around like that", I pity their ignorance. They eventually get the hint. But there is one who used to randomly try and talk to me from time to time. I don't mind forgiving people and trying something else. Like a friendship without someone getting screwed. But I can't pretend like nothing happened until after they face it

I've never had such an experience. Generally, my exes (well, technically there's only one worth speaking of) and I have a friendly relationship. If she walks into a restaurant that I'm in, I'll usually say "hello" by throwing a plate in her direction. With food on it. It's free. I'm such a generous guy.

I just got back from a party to which my "ex" was also invited. It was extremely awkward, at first. We couldn't make contact, we barely said anything to each other, and for a while she thought that I was either pissed or hated her. Kind of ironic, seeing as how I was looking forward to talking to her. After a while, everyone left except for the core members of our old group of friends and we ended up hanging out for a good 2 hours, until we walked her back home.

Overall, it was a good experience. I don't know where it goes from here, though, if anywhere at all. We just said our goodbyes and that was that.

Sometimes that awkwardness can't be avoided! At least it didn't end horribly!

Eh, I'm on pretty good terms with my exes. Speak to some of them more than others, but we're all friendly really.

All of them live in Texas, so that's just a place I don't wanna be.

Weird. My most recent ex (who most likely cheated on me) just stopped by to get her stuff after a month and a half. She pretended to be sad that I'd changed my hair. I just handed her stuff over. She hugged me. I basically just stood there till it was over and told her to take care and walked away. I hope I made it awkward. She wanted to be friends but never even tries. So whatever. BYE! Feels weird though. Oh well

A few years ago an ex of mine from high school messaged me on AIM. He wasn't apologizing or anything, but the day we broke up (for the last time xD) came up and he said something about me crying, and so I got the opportunity to clarify that I was not crying because we broke up. That was kind of nice.

A couple of weeks ago BJ and I went out to dinner at a place we like, and were served by the lead of his ex-band. They did not part on good terms, so it was nice to learn that he's still living with his bitch of a mother and waiting tables at a burger joint.

In 6th grade a boy who had kissed me during summer camp in second grade started going to my school. He came up to me one day and said he hoped I knew that he liked this other girl better, and only kissed me because she was away. My response: "Do I know you?" The look on his face as he walked away was priceless.
