I think what EoFF really needs is an FFXIII skin, what with it coming out soon and all. I'm not sure what it would look like, though. Maybe white and pink in a similar style to the FFXIII PS3? Or maybe the same sort of colours that match the XIII logo.

Instead of ripping off artwork to be the banner or something, why not get one of the artist here to draw an original one?

This thread made me feel like making a sprite of Lightning, and that's what I'm doing right now.
We also had the idea of having a countdown to XIII's release somewhere too. I guess it'd work in that skin.
Only Final Fantasy website to already have a Lightning layout, you could say. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! :cool:

Unlike, well, pretty much every other layout posted in this thread (except for the black-on-black one), yours isn't really really bright. It's easy-on-the-eyes, uses nice colors, and is overall just pleasant to look at. There are some other good and well thought-out layouts posted in this thread, but yours is so far the only one I would actually use.Quote:

There's a lot of white space in the top left but that's where whatever banner we have would go! I know a couple of bits of the background look a little patchy, but this is just a rough mock up, if it was to be the XIII skin someone could make it look a lot better than I have.
EDIT: Hmmm maybe that light pink is a bit too light. But you get the idea.
I like it! I don't know if pink is the best pick for the XIII skin though. Maybe it's better to pick a colour scheme with broader appeal? I'm working on something too, although I keep getting distracted.
Yeah I wondered if people would be turned off by the fact that it's pink too. But, I do dig the PS3 console!
EDIT: Oh just as Rye was asking earlier in the thread how to do this, what you do is you paste a screen into paint, then:
- Dropper tool. Left click the colour you want to replace, and use right click to select the colour you want to replace it with.
- Select Eraser. Hold down CTRL and press + on the numpad repeatedly until your eraser is gargantuan.
- Then hold down the right button and go over your entire picture with it. Ta-da. If you're replacing white, some of the forum smileys/icons may get a bit messed up but you can always copy and paste them back in!
It's actually really easy and can be done in like two minutes if you just want to change the colours.
A pink skin that's indented instead of full-width? I like it. :D

Added little lightning for ultimate cheesiness. Considered making it blink, but that might have made the universe collapse from sheer lamosity. It's easily taken out. XD

It looks surprisingly adorable in an orange-creamy-peach sort of color. I think I might prefer this to the purple one, to be honest, but that's just me.

Regarding the FFXIII skins being thrown about: If you're going to have it be in light pastel colours I urge you to stick to 100% dark fonts. To have white on light pastel is really hard to read. Also, I think it wouldn't hurt to have a darker version for us that don't like pastels to also be made.

I disbelieve anyone is doing this in MS Paint. The text has major gradations when pasted directly into Paint. So you'd have to change like 10 different colors just to hit all the text. Is that really what everyone was doing??

Yes. If you're copying and pasting my screenshots then it's probably because of the jpg artifacts that were created when I saved it. Take your own screenshot of EoFF and you'll see the text is one colour.Quote:

I made the beginnings of a Chocobo themed layout. It's called Gysahl Greens. I like the colors and background pattern (it's a little uneven since I did it all by hand rather quick) but I have no idea what to do with the banner, so I just threw something up there. Any ideas? How do you like it?

Mr. Lynx, that's called a space where a banner is supposed to be and it's otherwise known as the black hole. I love full length banners like the one in Oldskool, but sometimes smaller ones work.
