What have you been planning for, but then you ended up just settling for something less awesome?
I once planned to get an Xbox 360 but settled for a PSP. :(
Every night I plan on getting eight hours of sleep and every night I end up settling for less.
I wanted to be at least a demi-god in this life, but my karma was only good enough for human.
I had to settle for a Swede. God help me.
Agree with the 8 hours of sleep one. I should have been asleep...several hours ago :eep:
I wanted to major in computer science and make video games. But boys are mean in CS and I didn't like it as much as I thought I would :( Graduated with a psychology degree.
This isn't the Great Expectations thread, babe.
Oh my, this is getting interesting. *pops corn*
If that's how you want to play it...
I had to settle for American white trash.
I am not responsible for your fast food bathroom whore escapades.
I told you not to eat that Jack in the Box burger. You just didn't want to listen.
Forget you!
nice way to continue the argument, babe
I planned on making a level 7 sorcerer for a D&D campaign beginning this weekend, but I've settled for a bard because nobody else wants to play a healing class or take any social skills. Again.
I was expecting Final Fantasy XIV and instead I got Final Fantasy XIV. I don't know if I've settled for it exactly, but when the next patch comes out (and the next, and the next) I will inevitably log in and have a little play around.
I was expecting to go on holiday this year at some point, but finances say no.
I was expecting champagne supernova to know about the rep system, but instead I found champagne supernova did not know about the rep system.
When I was in high school, I wanted anything but a Toyota Corolla. Now I drive a Toyota Corolla.
That reminds me, when I was a kid I wanted to be a motorcycle racer, just like my third cousin (he boarded with us). Not sure what happened with that as I don't even have a learner's licence... for anything. :p
Psshhh. My bard is great! Right now I run a fishery company supplying dried fish goods to a large portion of the area in our little campaign. I've employed shadowkind to work for me, so no else can see them, see where they fish, or try to steal my work force. Plus if anyone smurfs with me, weird little halflings that people forget immediately after meeting them "take care of the trouble makers."
They also mine for me, and are pretty handy at supplying rare ores and gems.
Even the other people in my party don't know what to make of the situation. It's great!
As for things that didn't turn out great, and I've had to settle or just give up entirely. Jobs and romance.
every time i get in the shower
I drove a 2002 corolla
until it was stolen
from a mall
in broad daylight
HAPPY NEW CAR DAY
I was expecting large breasts but instead had to settle for what nature gave me :(
Also, I went to a restaurant Friday expecting good Quesadillas, but instead got cheese slices melted in between two rediculously small tortillas.
I've got a bard in a really old game who became a dictator. The DM intended to have us support either a military leader or a cleric of St. Cuthbert, but I nominated myself and ended up winning. That game's been on hold for a while, but hopefully we'll start playing it again once our monk gets back from Germany.
Starting at level 7, though, with no prior events like that to add to your character's story or in-game reputation makes it a lot less interesting to be a bard. I'd rather be a no-name sorcerer or cleric at this level than a bard with no reputation. Oh well, the DM will probably give me some sort of background for a bit of fame since they tend to do crazy stuff that people hear about. Especially if I take Leadership again...
Yeah, that's a fair point. We started at level 6 for a second campaign and I made a Loxo barbarian. It's just easier to pick up in the middle with a more basic character like that.
Bard's really are better when you've created their back story through adventuring. Nothing I've done has been what the DM planned, but he loves how I pull together elements he never though about. It helps him use stuff he put effort into he though would just not get used much.
Good luck though! Songs and Silence is your friend!
I had to settle for being Mexican. :(
Just 'cause of the thread title.
Lowered Expectations
In case nostalgia had you thinking Mad TV was ever funny. That should take care of that.
EDIT: Now my post looks stupid. Thanks, sharky. :nonono:
You're already Mexican, which is close enough to Puerto Rican that you can own a rotary. (There's rules, I'm white but I'm allowed to own one thanks to affirmative action) Maybe with the right clothing, etc. you could also pass for Asn!!
Then you could put a rotary swap into some Honda while simultaneously qualifying for multiple minority scholarships. The plan is perfect!
The question is, can one cut what is not there? Ponder that, folks.
I had to settle for being short. My familial genes are horrible to me. At least I have pretty eyes.
I wanted a PS2 but settled for a GameCube back in the day when a GameCube was like $120 while a PS2 was still well over $200.
I probably did the least video game playing in my life during that period.
My 20's?
I was planning to be employed and I settled for being unemployed.
Yeah... Teaching was pretty difficult. My life now is very not.
I planned to go out and get laid last night, but then I decided to just stay in and have a wank.
You know what you like better anyway.
Paint your hand and cock so you can simulate lesbian sex imo.
That seems very involved for a simple wank.
Oh man I hope raping julian in august lives up to my expectations. I don't want to have to come back here to talk about it.
I'm not touching one sip of alcohol while you're here. :nonono:
