SLEEPY DOGS FOR TEN DOLLARS BUY NOW UNLESS YOUR BRAIN DOES NOT WORK
smurf, I didn't need a house anyway.
SALES ARE UP
IT'S HAPPENING :hyper:
Anything good yet? I am at work for another 1.5 hours. :(
Bioshock Infinite is 50% off and I am REALLY tempted.
It is a really good game. Green man gaming seems to have it for 5 bucks cheaper with their coupon code today too... Almost as if they anticipated this.
But yeah... Gonna lose me some money this summer. :(
Skyrim legendary for 36 but I can get the vanilla disc for 20. Is the dlc worth 16 and not waiting? I've heard good things on Dragonborn but how long is Dawnguard? Comparable to Knights of the Nine?
Dawnguard main quest is maybe 5-6 hours if you don't breeze through it. It's definitely not bad; I preferred Dragonborn but that's because of all the Morrowind shoutouts.
Well vanillas right now 21 and if I recall last year TES stuff went down a little lower as it ran on so maybe I'll just grab vanilla and d.born if they dip.
Help a Boli out people - vote Far Cry 3!
No smurfing wonder. It's summer sale time bitches!Quote:
The Steam Store is experiencing some heavy load right now. Please try again.
I am ready to purchase more games that I will not have time for.
Out of all the games people buy in Steam, how many do you actually play?
Huh, I just bought some of these games for less on PSN. BUTT! BUT BUT BUT1! there are a lot of pretty badass deals.
http://www.newparadiselaboratories.o...fusion-gif.gif
What? That's like two thirds of the games bought not even played!
It really is. Though it is good for converting from console gaming to PC gaming... which is why I have so many games on there now. Though, Pike has a higher percentage rate of play than I do.
I'm one of those rare people that has played every single game in my Steam library at least once. But if I had as many as Pike that probably wouldn't be true.
I'm so glad you posted this, Pike. I had been thinking about getting KoTOR and KoTOR 2 for my computer and now they're 33% off. :D
i have, 6 games and considering that half of the time the computer i play them on either:
a) can't play them (doesn't meet requirements)
b) i just lose interest
so really i don't know, buying games anymore seems stupid to me (am i getting to old for video?
anyways, i don't have the proper rig, or a controller.
But...I just spent so much at GOG...
I almost considered getting Morrowind GOTY edition, since that seems on sale too, just to say I could give it another shot, but even at 12 bucks I feel I'd be paying to much. :p
What's going on with the sales today? Anything exciting?
REMEMBER
DO NOT BUY GAMES UNLESS THEY ARE ON DAILY/FLASH/COMMUNITY SALE OR IT IS THE LAST DAY
ALSO HOLY trout YOU GUYS XCOM IS LIKE TEN DOLLARS GET IT NOW JESUS CHRIST
Got FTL at 75% off and Portal at 50%. Yay!
Huzzah. Sales aren't too bad today. May pick up Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon in the Flash Sale. Also, for you indie fans, Fez is half off and it's completely worth it. That'll probably be my big purchase for the day unless something comes up on the Flash Sale at 9 PM EST.
FTL and Fez, eh? Hmm....
FTL is very good although I must warn everyone to prepare for frequent ragequits when they play it because it's just that kind of game.
Fez... it's very cute and relaxing but it never managed to grab my interest beyond that. Might just be me though.
dang, i need to buy portal i guess
my 3 year old laptop should run it right
Portal will run on a toaster; I ran it on Linux on my old hunk of trash and this was before there was a Linux port
that's what i figured
is there anything else available for really cheap that'd be worth getting? not home now and not gonna have time to look today
Buy Just Cause 2. That is all.
Everything Nicolas and Pike said is correct.
Just Cause 2 isn't the best open-world game ever made but it's still stupidly fun to smurf around on Panau for a few hours here and there. At this price it's a steal.
Any of the games currently up for the community vote would be great but if Sleepy Dogs wins there is no question that you should get it because it is smurfing brilliant.
I hear a lot of good things about Chivalry if you like medieval multiplayer madness.
Oh is the Walking Dead game good? Might get it later on.
TWD was close to GOTY, get it without hesitation.
Alright losers listen up.
XCOM is gone in 25 minutes so you best grab it before then.
Sleeping Dogs won the community vote and once it hits in about half an hour you best be buying that because it's a good smurfing game.
Sleeping Dogs is a kickass game. I haven't seen a lot of this sale so far but not a whole lot is jumping out at me. I got most of the halfway decent games already though, so I guess that's a good thing?
Reporting in to show love of Sleeping Dogs. VERY much worth picking up.
Oh man, one of the few games I've actually been looking out for just hit the $5 mark - The Witcher 2!!! *copped*
If you haven't played these games, the first Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut is only $2.49! When Bolivar recommends a WRPG there must be something half-special about it.
Bought Surgeon Simulator. smurf this game is awesome. Also got Age of Empires 2, but haven't played that one yet.
I really wanna grab AoEII as well, but I feel like they're gonna have a better deal than $10 before this thing is done.
Maybe they will, but I try not to worry too much about what deals may or may not appear. It was at a price I could live with paying so that's good enough for me.
Age of Empires II is tempting me so bad augh but I'm trying to spread out my money.
As an aside, You Need a Budget is 75% off for the next seven hours and even though it's not a game, that is a really good price for a really, really good budgeting program if anyone is looking for one.
The advantage of having no internet at home right now is that I have spent precisely €0 this sale.
time to pick up Sleeping Dogs and Morrowind, I guess
Damnit Pike I'm actually tempted by that budgeting program now...
The new Tomb Raider is $12.50. I'm thinking about it. I also have to pick up Dark Souls, but I think I'm going to wait to see if it drops to more than 50% off before the sale ends.
I was looking at You Need A Budget earlier for rather longer than I'd like to admit before I clicked that it wasn't a videogame.
Why is there something not a videogame on Steam, Gaben? :colbert:
You can't take over the world by only selling games. Also, Greenlight. The people have spoken!
EDIT: smurf it, just caved and bought it because I am the worst budgeter/accountant ever.
Yeah... I'm terrible with money. I just purchased it too.
I'm great at tracking other peoples money, I just always hated the idea of coming home and doing more of what I did at work. I'm hoping this can do most of the work for me.
Pike will be delighted to know I also picked up Endless Space as well.
Hell with Pike, I'm delighted.
Good on you guys, YNAB is the only budgeting program I've found that actually works well. Lemme just say that I shelled out full price ($60) for it after my trial ended because I liked it so much. I just allot all my money to different categories at the beginning of every month, input any purchases I make, and voila, I know exactly how much I have left over to put into extra debt payments or whatever. By the way if any of you guys hook it up to Dropbox and want an invite so we both get more space then let me know.
Ahahaha we're so old talking about a budgeting program like this.
Anyways yes Endless Space! It's a great little 4X which isn't perfect but is still very good. I've put many a long hour into it.
I think it's already generated more discussion than any other single program yet.
I haven't played a game in quite a while, but I think there were some updates a while ago. I need to play it again sometime soon. I can't remember, does it have multiplayer? Because I'd totally play that.Quote:
Anyways yes Endless Space! It's a great little 4X which isn't perfect but is still very good. I've put many a long hour into it.
I seem to recall Hux and I giving multiplayer Endless Space a shot a while back so I'm pretty sure it does unless I'm thinking of the wrong game.
I have no reason for a budgeting program at this point and you guys are making me want it for no good reason. :stare:
My thought process regarding the budgeting program is this:
Are you poor? If yes:
Do you want to be poorer in the short term to be less poor later on?
Plus it claims to have reports that humans can read. Humans! BoB never gives us reports like that.
You and me both. :( If it were less than $15 I probably would have bought it though. (Yes, I know $15 for a $60 program is still a really good sale, but being able to resist sales on things I am not going to gain any particular use from in the near future is probably one reason why I don't need a budgeting program).
ahahaha I feel like we should rename this to the Budgeting Program Thread :p
Anyways I just caved and bought AoEII HD Edition. Terrible self-control over here. At least it's (mostly) guilt free because... I budgeted for this sale with my budgeting program! :monster:
I vote we have some multiplayer fun soon since people are buying Age of Empires and Endless Space.
I got scribblenauts for $4.99! WOO
i bought scribblenauts and orange box (because apparently i'm finally catching up with games from 2007 and i've never played any HL games so it might actually be time to start)
Does YNAB have multiplayer?
Multiplayer Budgeting for the Win?
Yeah, for the most part, this sale has been pretty good on games I already have... just hate the fact that they seem to not want me to spend money on the items I DO want. :(
Bought YNAB though. That should be worth its weight in gold after July 22.
Been playing around with YNAB for the last hour. Seriously, the last smurfing hour. This is the most fun I've had making a budget and tracking my spending ever.
I'm kind of tickled software designed to help people who are poor and need a budget charges you money. :p
I like how Torchlight 2 won the community vote despite being free not two weeks ago from multiple sites.
Yeah, I'm really shocked that people somehow don't have Torchlight II yet.
I honestly think TL2 is overrated and has several fundamental design flaws. I actually (and this doesn't happen very often for me) enjoyed the original more.
I didn't even notice a difference between the two games beyond having a bigger choice of pets (which is GREAT  )
I guess for me it just felt like my character never had as much "oomph" as it did in TL1 :(
I don't think they did have much "oomph". I only say this because my characters never clearly dominated like they did in the first game. But, the best part of TLII is the wonderful choice of pets and finally being able to play with other people. It makes it better than the first in my eyes.
thanks for the gift of TL2 Nico
if anyone else wants to gift me games that i'll probably never play (or i'll play them "once I get a new computer" aka the distant future) my steam name is rtryson
there you can see how much of a filthy gosh dang casual i am and how I never play games
I actually prefer TL1 as well Aul, and for similar reasons. 2 feels weirdly hollow at times.
Don't vote for your favorite game people, vote for either the one you want to actually buy or the one which is weirdest. Like this time, everyone should vote for Monaco but everyone will vote for Fez even though it was discounted yesterday. :(
I voted for Monaco! I have a friend that wants me to play it with him, if it's the game I'm thinking of.
I really want Monaco but I keep waiting for it to be further discounted augh
I am tempted to get Organ Trail because it is only 99p. But my card is so far away and I can't be bothered punching in all those details. :(
I don't buy things from Steam enough to warrant putting money in the wallet. xD
Lucky me, I waited to buy KoTOR 1 and 2 and then they both got further reduced to 66% off. :D And I may get Terraria now that it's 75% off.
Pike, I kind of love you for this thread.
If you don't have Deus Ex: Human Revolution then you should buy it. The price is criminally low.
I bought AoE2 HD because I forgot that existed until now. Now someone play with us!
i need to get a non-toaster to play games on so i can somewhat justify buying some games :(
How are you guys doing on the trading cards required for the badge? I have a double of Kerbal Space Program and need Reus, Tomb Raider, Torchlight II, Chivalry and Dead Island Riptide. I also got 2 Torchlight II game trading cards and a million Dota 2 items if anyone's got doubles they don't care about!!!
Dammit, I tried to stay away. But I ended up getting the Portal bundle and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Once I find a new apartment I'm planning on celebrating my new job by buying a new computer, so I guess I need something to play on it. :p
Thanks for pointing out about Human Revolution. Grabbed that.
I just need Skyrim, Reus and Dead Island cards wise.
~Card Trading General~
HAVE: Two extra Bioshock Infinite, one extra Dead Island
NEED: Footy Manager, Kerbal Space Program, Reus, Tomb Raider
Waiting for 75% off skyrim.
Looks like Skyrim won the Community vote, won't be 75% off though :p
Anyways I made a Steam trading cards thread: http://home.eyesonff.com/general-gam...iscussion.html
And now I noticed that Sleeping Dogs is 75% off.
I guess I should've waited a few more days to pick that up. Ah well.
If Dark Souls goes to more than 50% off, let me know. I'm checking pretty much every day, but still.
yeah i wasn't gonna participate this year
but now i have sleeping dogs and system shock 2 (again) and alan wake and mark of the ninja :(
Aaron: Dark Souls is now 75% off.
Also so is Walking Dead.
Yep, grabbing Dark Souls now, thanks.
Get Gunpoint guys, it's awesome.
yeah getting gunpoint and dark souls
i already have dark souls but i never had the dlc
and not on pc
and i need to peeeee but i wanted to post heeeerreee
There wasn't a whole lot that interested me so far this year. And yet I've still spent more than I would have liked. But in the long run its probably worth it. If I ever decided to get these games on a whim in the future, at least I'm not paying full price for when I get around to wanting to play them. Finally get to check out Dust, and Mark of the Ninja. Also FEZ. I like my indie'esque XBLA/PSN type games..
Sales have been kinda disappointing today and yesterday, was hoping Far Cry 3 would be a lot cheaper...
BUT I think it would be awesome if people's got CS: GO off the community sale right now, that'd be dope to play together (I'm not that good anymore :( )
Relevant: Steam Summer Sales Conspiracy
Just got Miami Hotline for 5 bucks. Awesome.
drunkenly bought terarria woot!
Heads up: today is Encore Day, the last day of the sale, bringing back the most popular deals. Things might actually go on for a little longer depending on what Valve decides to do, but you might as well see if there's any last minute purchases you want to make before life goes back to normal.
There are a couple rumors floating around that something's going to show up tomorrow, but whether there's any truth to that and if so whether it's going to be anything of consequences is far from certain.
At any rate as Bolivar says the sale is still up today and there's some good deals here, though I admit I'm surprised XCOM didn't make the top sellers.
I bout KotOR but it doesn't smurfing work.
What OS are you running? If it's crashing at the beginning movies like it was for me, you can force it into windowed mode and it works pretty well.
1. Go to your KoTOR folder (should look like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\swkotor)
2. Open up the swkotor.ini file in Notepad
3. Go down to where it says Graphic Options and change the FullScreen=1 option to FullScreen=0
4. Then add "AllowWindowedMode=1" underneath
5. Save
It should work after that.
Bought Skyrim and Hearthfire. Busying myself adding shoulderblades to the skeleton.
THEY MUST HAVE
shoulderblades.
They're important you know.
Last couple of hours you guys! Remember to poke around at anything you've been thinking about too, there's a lot of sales that don't ever see the front page.
Picked up the Tomb Raider collection because $17.49 for $100 worth of games is a pretty damn good deal :monster:
edit: also picked up Assassin's Creed 2. For $5 why not.
Aaaaand it's done.
Hope you guys picked up some good stuff :)
I spent entirely too much.
So yes, I bought some good stuff.
Yeah I'm pretty sure my total spent was up there in the ~$100 range, plus I got a few gifts too. Worth it.
I bought scribblenauts and portal. I'm a high roller.
Well smurf, I didn't even think of VVVVVV! :stare:
Oh well I got troutloads of games and handed out some gifts.
If they ever do Steam sharing you can borrow it sometime. :exdee:
I'm raising the thread in honor of the new wallet torturing sale that Gaben has unleashed upon us.
All Hail the Steam Autumn Sale.
Looks like it's time to actually buy Skyrim. Christ this month is costing me a lot more money than I'd planned.
Yah with Skyrim at 7.50 this sale's off to a good start.
Screw that, I just got the legendary edition or whatever for $20. Might as well get it with all of the DLC in one fell swoop at that price.
Have my Wishlist ready, and already bought 1/5 games I'm planning to pick up with Avadon: The Black Fortress.
damnit I didn't budget for Autumn Sales. I usually budget for the others but this one caught me off guard.
Same. And Amazon has just as amazing of a sale with stuff like Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 for $7.50 and Batman: Arkham Orgins for $20. =/
Got Rouge Legacy yesterday, and picked up Dark Souls tonight.
Now I need to find my 360 controller, because everyone who I've ever heard talking about Dark Souls has said that, as far as the game's controls are concerned, it is the absolute worst port of a console game to PC in existence.
I got Baldur's Gate Extended Edition for the neat extra features and so I won't have to fiddle with 5 CDs the next time I want to install it.
10$ for the Might and Magic Heroes VI: Complete Edition. Didn't even plan on picking that one up originally. :p
To late, already downloading!
My last post was a little disingenuous. The game itself is fairly decent but it suffers from the always online requirement and the interference from UPlay, both of which make the game highly unplayable. Not the mention the constant security issues that UPlay and Ubisoft both experience on a near-constant basis.
Skyrim for $7, Terraria for $2.50, Trine + Trine 2 for < $5, La Mulana for $3 (finally, I've been waiting for that one for a year...) I'm pleased so far.
dsfix | metaclassofnilblog fixes some of the problems with Dark Souls, if you're OK with a 3rd-party patch. It's a fairly popular patch.
DAMMIT STEAM PUT THE GAMES I HAVE ON MY WISHLIST ON SALE ALREADY!
Put better games in your wish list.
I'll put your mom on my wish list.
Don't play DS without dsfix and for the love of GOD do not play it without a controller.
Get Mountain Blade, it's one of the better games around and it has some amazing mods plus you can personally lead an army of like French knights, Norse berserkers, Welsh Longbowmen, Italian Crossbowmen, and Mongol Horse Archers all at the same time and wreck everything.
What I'm trying to say is game kicks so much ass get it right now.
I bought:
Kerbal Space program
Stanley Parable
Rollar Coaster Tycoon :D
Cherry Tree High Comedy Club
Surgeon Simulator 2013
These will take me a while until the next sell to get to playing.
Having started playing Avadon finally....
I think I'll pass on 2 until I clear the first. It's not really holding my interest at all, and knocks at least one thing of the trout to buy this sale.
I just realized I didn't buy anything in this sale. I did have a few games gifted to me by various people, though.
Damnit Gaben, springing these things on me from out of nowhere when I wasn't planning for them!
Could be worse Pike. I bought Metro Last Light and the damn thing freezes after the company logo. Tried several things to no avail. I'll trouble shoot more some other time when I'm not tired and it's not late. Between this and Bioshock Infinite earlier in the year, this is a terrible year for me having to troubleshoot PC games. Either one has eaten up more effort than I can ever remember needing to put in to make a game work before. Both of them together is just ugh... :(
I like how the sale was supposed to end on the 3rd, but didn't even make it through the 3rd. I probably should have paid more attention, but I would have liked to have gotten a few last minute deals
The complete AoE2 set was a steal. :}
And so it begins. The revenge of Gaben on our Wallets.
Of course, the games I want to get aren't on sale at all...
There are games that aren't on sale?
The Longest Journey + Dreamfall bundle isn't.
Monaco is, though. And it is mine.
Whoops, made a topic on this yesterday, I didn't realise there was a general one.
Hopefully it will be, luckily the sale doesn't end until January 3rd so there's plenty of time for it to be.
Quite a poor first day if I'm honest, I'm hoping for Dust to make the community vote but it's most likely going to be FTL, which I already own.
Also keep in mind there are other games on sale that aren't shown on the front page, most of the BIT.TRIP games have quite meaty savings for example and loads of other indie games are 75% off.
For now it doesn't have a green highlight and a new price tag like the other games that are currently on sale. Hopefully more does go on sale later, I'm unfamiliar with how sales like these work.
Since some people may not know about it, this is really the best way to search for games on sale that you weren't already previously considering:
Steam Sales Tracker · US · Steam Database
Spuuky's post is bang on, that's a really good way to keep track of what's on sale.
Also use the wishlist system if you don't already, stick the Dreamfall games in yours and if/when they come up on sale you'll be sent an email about it and I think you get a notification within Steam as well. For example:
Steam Community :: AssassinDX :: Games
As I type this everything in my list is on sale for up to 50% off, but there are definitely rules to adhere to that are probably already buried somewhere in this vast topic.
- Only buy games if they're on sale on the main page, flash sales or community choice. On my list none of them are as of typing, so I'm not interested.
- Even then, if it's up for 50% off it might be worth waiting to see if it goes to 66% or even 75% later in the sale, it depends on the game.
- If Dreamfall does go on sale, it WILL go to 75% off at some point because that's the price I got it for the summer before last.
- Patience is the key, if you do end up missing a deal at any point, get it on the last day of the sale. Steam has a tendency to do a big 'encore' where everything that's been on sale appears again at it's highest discount for the summer and winter sales, so don't panic until it's completely over.
And Red Shirt is now Downloading!
I'm going to make my usual recommendation that people buy Just Cause 2. The best sandbox game ever made.
Didn't the multiplayer mod for Just Cause 2 just recently get released too? Even more reason for people to pick up this greatest of all sandbox games!
I usually ignore steam sales, because with the exception of indies, I can almost always get games cheaper on PSN or for Free through PS+. Unless I'm willing to wait a year or two for the really big hits, there's basically no difference.
The only game I really want from the Steam sale is Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition. It's currently 33% off, but should go on one of the bigger sales at some point during the time. If not, I'll probably buy it on the last day or so just to get the 8$ off.
Although FTL is proving mighty tempting. The only think holding that one back is FTL always being on sale somewhere on the internet, so I can pick it up pretty much whenever at a reduced price.
I picked up the Just Cause 2 game and mod for like $3 so that's a good start, but smurf I'm too broke for this, didn't we just have a sale.
Good gravy, I haven't picked up anything so far because it seems like I already have almost everything, and the few things I want aren't being discounted enough. I feel like I'm failing the Steam sale this year. Some of you lovely people got me some of the games on my wishlist as birthday presents so I'll have some stuff to occupy me yet.
Games I got so far:
Electronic Super Joy - I beat this already, but haven't gotten all the stars or unlockable levels. It's a challenging fun little platformer. OST is good electronic music. Certainly worth $1.50. Don't play if you have photosensitive epilepsy. I'm not sure why the checkpoints sound like orgasms.
Recettear - In this game you run an item shop and sell equipment to adventurers. I saw someone streaming it and I liked the sarcastic humor. I'm a sucker for parody. Plus I've read good reviews about it.
Duck Tales: Remastered - Modern remake of the NES game. I've been wanting this for a while, couldn't justify $15, could justify $5 or whatever I got it for.
Reus - I loooooooved Populous back in the day, and I can't help but buy any game that looks even vaguely similar, to try to recapture the magic. God-sims are best sims. This looks like it has some things going for it.
I've bought a few gifts for people. For myself, I've acquired Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Toki Tori 2 (and finally Dragon Age 2, but that wasn't on Steam).
Special thanks to selling worthless cards to pay for more than the full price of those games.
So they are, thanks!
Oh, that's nice!Quote:
Your bank has declined your payment attempt.
Edit: Okay, my card is currently locked to international transactions. Fortunately for me my mom is awesome and let me used her card for the purchase. Women's Month just became 20% cooler.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7Fav00BNHF...1o/s1600/3.png
Anyways, Awesomenauts is 50% off and EVERYONE should buy it and then, after getting a few practice runs in, play multiplayer with myself and Hux. We need a third person for our team.
Everyone make way for best 'naut:
Fine Pike. But my wallet ain't happy.
So far I've purchased the first Witcher for £1.74, and NBA2k13 from Greenman Gaming for £4 'cause I'm a sucker for sports games with a career mode.
