Post-Server Move Issues

Post any issues in this thread if you can.

Known Issues
- Streams page not yet working.
- Plugins not yet installed, including vBActivity
- www.eyesonff.com does not redirect to home.eyesonff.com
- Seems to be some kind of problem with background colours/images in certain styles for some users.
- Stats on forums index need to be re-coloured on some styles.

Done:
- Plugins not yet installed, including Chat and the stats for the last seven days that appear at the bottom of the forums index.
- Mobile Style needs to be re-uploaded.
- favicon missing.
- Dates aren't adapting to the custom profile field we set for 'em.
- Ditto Quick Reply.
- Spoiler tags not working.
- vB-generated emails not working.
- Quotes-within-quotes not working as they used to.
- Rep doesn't show up on posts... but SHOULD IT? ~decisions~

There's no link to chat on the upper tabs anymore.

On mobile the front page forums are all the way to the right.

I'll re-upload the mobile style tonight when I get back home, that should fix that issue. Chat is a plugin, so I've added that to the Known Issues.

Re-direction after logging in didn't work for me.

"Invalid redirect URL (http://www.eyesonff.com/)"

I'll let Mike make the call for the www redirect, as I believe he is still using that end of things to tap into the old server if we need anything from it.

I can rotate it for a night to get to my beloved forum. I'm just glad we are back.

I cannot change the postbit to be beside the post. I checked the settings, and it says it should be beside, but it persists above the post.

This could be one of those things that comes with using a semi-obscure browser, but this is what the 'articles' section of the site looks like for me

Edit: just checked and it looks the same on Faded Fantasy on my phone.

No article count/link to articles in postbit.

No cache clear button.

Can you confirm your browser + version, and also show us what Fifteen looks like in that browser?

I use opera and it looks the same on the new and up to date (version 26.0.1656.24) and the old version. My mobile browser is safari and it looks the same on that.

Fifteen skin is the same.

Looks like it's just your adblock removing the placement there.

Locky thought I was talking about something different. I just checked every skin and every single one defaults to a white background colour in the articles section of the forum.

Ooh, I am getting that in work too! Cannot screencap for data security reasons, but on IE9 here, Fifteen.

It's almost like the nav bar bit has no transparency or something. :3

Sasquatch theme or web theme doesn't show properly and the background pic is gone. It's just empty.

Am I the only one experience this issue?

Also I tried with every available theme but only Sasquatch and Kitty Fantasy has the same issue while others works completely fine.

I'm getting a lot of 404's when I try to access the subforums from my Most Visited tab in Firefox...

Can you let me know the urls?

Ah, yeah, we have disabled vBSEO and do not intend on bringing it back, which will affect those old urls. I am unsure if we will be bringing back the redirects, but I wouldn't count on it.

Makes sense. Not a big deal to me as I can remove those links from my Most Visited button, just wanted to be sure it wasn't an issue :)

I noticed the same problem Feel mentioned with the white background but on the blogs. Using Mobile firefox. Idk which version shut up.

Spoiler tags don't expand on my phone browser. It's the default Android browser.

I also can't get it to remember the style settings using either the drop-down menu at the bottom-left of the screen or edit options.

When I click on the "+ Reply to Thread" button, it just takes me to the Quick Reply below. Is that going to be the standard now or is that an issue.

BTW- I'm using Chrome & the XV theme.

It used to take me to a different screen. I tried looking @ my settings, but I didn't notice anything that would change this. I also noticed I have Quick Reply set to "No".

Yeah, we had a large number of things we were gracious enough to create plugins for in order to allow a lot of customisation from the user end. We'll be getting them back in, but it'll take time. That includes date formats, Quick Reply and other such things. I've only had time (and knowledge to hand) for the postbit location so far, but we'll get 'em all back, bit by bit.

Will start looking into a few things now. Got that favicon done though, Pike. :)

Incidentally, the style thing is an issue for me with Chrome as well. At least, the user control panel selector doesn't work. The one on the bottom-left of the page does.

Spam-o-Matic is announcing that we have denied 1 user registration. Dunno if that really is necessary!

I will get a screencap at home, assuming it is still there.

Turned off the Spam-o-Matic statistics. For anyone wondering, it uses a database of known spammers and blocks them from registering.

Yep! Although I'm pretty certain it was in place for many months before the server move too. I'm not certain of the exact configuration it was using but I'll make a note to compare it to the old server setup at some point and match it.

Are you going to try to get the Streams tab to work again, or scrap it? I'm not sure I remember how it worked. There was a table in the DB and a shell script that called a Ruby script via cron job to update it periodically by fetching JSON data Twitch using their API. There was some PHP involved to let Ruby talk to vB properly, I think because vB caches the tab titles and it needed to force a cache refresh to get the "Streams (1)" to work. Then probably more PHP to actually display the contents of the page and some vB config stuff to get the contents to show up in the right tab. Good luck.

We probably still have the table, but the other stuff I'm not sure on. Can you PM Mike, Unne? And if you have your latest copy of the file itself, it'd probably save Mike analysing it for any potential (if unlikely) hacks from the security flaw. I'd like to get it working again, I actually used it sometimes!

On another note: Big thanks to Samuraid who just fixed the email issue. The next priorities will probably be the spoiler tags not opening and the style related issues, so hopefully we can get them fixed.

I used the Streams tab too. Would love to see it up and running again!

I actually just told you everything I remember, in my post. Also I don't have backups of any of the files, the only copy of everything was on the server. Probably in ~/local/bin, plus the crontab, plus streams.php in the vB folder. The code was very short, you can read it and see if there were any problems.

I just noticed the spoiler tags aren't working either. Someone should look into that.

Has someone mentioned rep not showing up on posts? Because rep isn't showing up on posts.

I mentioned it, but after thinking about it I think I prefer it this way. Probably an unpopular opinion but I vote we leave rep visible only to the person who gets it.

That's part of vBActivity, and will probably be re-added in time, but not until after other things have been sorted. Thankfully I was able to back up the settings from the older one and that means I don't have to spend weeks redoing it all.

Just so you know, spoiler tags can't be viewed either.

jQuery was missing so I reinstalled that. Fixed the spoiler issue. Also added a bunch of plugins back in for various user settings like date/time formats and whatnot.

IDK if this has anything to do w/ Post-Server Move Issues, or if my laptop chose to be loopy today, but I'm getting, on some threads w/ pics, the images not showing, & the first post the text is vertical.

Edit: I figured out it's posts that are rep'd.

It looks like in-post rep is showing now. But it's a broken link, not the limit break bar.

That should be fixed now. The image for in-post rep was missing. If it's still missing somewhere, let me know what style.

It's showing in the classic styles now, at the very least.

Clicking on the article count in someone's postbit leads to a 404.

Actually, lots of links on the forum are 404s. Example: "Become a Contributor Today!" in the site contributions subforum.

Dunno about the article link in postbits, but the Site Contributor one is now fixed.

Almost all content links from the frontsite for the various entries gives me a blank page.

I've managed to replicate that at work - I'll try and get it fixed during my lunch break.

I can't go into chat from the browser link because of the symbol in my name. Before it would just change the note to &9834 and I'd change it back to Jesse1 but that is no longer a valid option and I'm immediately disconnected. Is there a way to change what my chat nick is? I can just use a different IRC program for the time being but I really do prefer to use the browser client :(

Fixed. It should automatically strip out any characters that won't work and replace spaces with underscores. There's also a profile field under Settings / Edit Profile which allows you to specify a custom username to use for chat.

Dunno it it's been mentioned, but the "Remember me" checkbox on the login screen does not work for me.

I haven't changed the configuration of my browser, like, ever, so I'm guessing it's a server issue.

I have to attempt to log in three times before I'm actually allowed to log in.

I thought it was me being stupid with typos at first, but it's consistently three times, and on different computers using different browser software. (Chrome, Firefox, Safari.)

Thoughts?

Could you guys try clearing your cookies and see if that fixes your problems with signing in?

That's a problem in Old Skool as well.

Also I'm pretty sure the wiki worked before the server move. Or, well, not worked, but pages loaded, at least.

The wiki hasn't worked (properly) for a while, and it is (has been) low priority in terms of getting it fixed.

I backed up a lot of wiki files but I don't expect the Wiki will be revived, sadly. Just too many more important things that at the moment aren't even being looked into in a serious way to justify having this added to the list.

What happened to the achievements? I regularly check it to see how awesome my posting stats are. It's not there

I believe BoB said that achievements are gone for now, until someone gets around to re-implementing them.

I must have overlooked that. Now how do I see the stats to see if I'm number one chocobo for rep or vms or posts or poll votes D: BRING BACK CHOCOBOS

I'm pretty sure I'd still have two chocs, Frey. :smug:

I do intend on bringing it back (along with the Advanced PM plugin system) but yeah, it's on a list, and I'm needing less work right now and that vBActivity is a hell of a lot of work.

I don't have an issue like this and I use Aeris Reborn. Try Clearing your cache, logging out, logging back in and setting the style again?

Got this sorted. Sorry for the delay.

My images folder wasn't moved over so there are a few broken images in some of my previous articles!

Fixed.

I've tried to clear the cache, clear browsing history but the sasquatch theme still missing some icon until now.

actually just kidding; the main logo is still missing. Also, the word 'Notifications' appears to be a link to user cp, but I sure can't seem to click on it.

Darn these themes with images scattered left right and center throughout folders. I'll try to get it sorted when I'm home again. Feel free to poke me on IRC. Not sure I'll be very good at the latter issue though, might need Rantz to look into it. Do other styles definitely work OK for you with the notifications thing? I can't test at work.
