You hear people call a lot of things and people cool, but what exactly is "cool"?
What makes something or someone "cool" to you?

Air conditioning.
Seriously though, cool is just a stereotype we use to show status. It's tough to really say what "cool" is. I'd say it's a metaphor for someone who is confident being themselves.
Take care all.
If I describe a person as 'cool', then the person is laid back and confident...
[q]My mom says I'm cool[/q]
Mud, from that old Star Trek episode where he makes robot clones of his wife, is cool.
Is that really a good thing?Quote:

Just watch that Simpsons episode where they go to Hullabalooza.
Yes, because "the Simpsons" can capture the essence of a social concept in a twenty minute animated segment.
Whats cooler then cool? Ice cold!

Do people still say "Cool?" I haven't heard that one for a long time.
As far as I'm concerned, if the temperature is slightly colder than normal, it's cool. I've never used that word to describe something that I might consider impressive or amazing. I certainly wouldn't use it to describe any of my human colleagues, either.
"Yowza" or "Phat" are appropriate substitutes for "Cool". ;)
I say it, but just as a synonym for 'great'.
I say 'That's cool' or 'I'm cool' a lot to mean 'No, thank you'.
When a cool person does a cool thing but if a dumb person does a cool thing that just what you call "trying too hard". And if a cool person is cool enough, he or she can do a dumb thing, making themselves super kool.
Plus they get to sit at the cool table at school.
I OWN the cool table at school. Well, I do until the cool people come.
Cool is rad. And by rad, I mean groovy. And by groovy, I mean ace. And by ace, I mean awesome. And by awesome, I mea tubular. And by tubular, I mean sweet. And by sweet, I mean gnarly. And by gnarly, I mean rocking.
That's why rocking chairs are so cool.
Maybe I'll begin to spell it as kewl, and see how annoyed other people get :D
Actually being cool is just being the alpha male or female, which means absolutely nothing on a relative scale. For example lots of girls go to anime conventions because the absence of 'really attractive' females lowers the relative scale, thus making them the alpha female. It's true, if you think about it.
There's this really silly picture somewhere of a girl with her legs bent in a 90* angle in front of a cosplayer in a Trigun (If you've forgotten, I call Vash Trigun. I still do) costume (maybe if she were more daring she wouldn't have to hold her leg up and could lean up against the guy, but then that would be too daring and her parents might find out and take away her online chatting privileges). I'm sure you might have seen it (if not I have no idea where it came from). I looked at it, scoffed, then realised that that girl was probably one of the 'hottest' girls there.
Shows how good being cool is, actually.
Awesome is the best word there.Quote:

I'm cool, and by cool I mean cold.
And by cold, I mean I hate all cool people.
If you can lift 1.5x your bodywright you're cool
If you can play a fighting game even half as good as me you're cool
If you can belch loud enough to echo for 5 minutes you're cool
You wanna know what cool is?

That's cool. Joe Cool.
I agree with Linus 100%
<---- Cool
everyone has differeing definitions of what "cool" is.....mine would simply be someone who is laid back and be themselves 100%....never influence by what other people do or say in a commercial society....that for me is cool....
Whatever everyone else says and nothing I ever say
Those are still cool levels :strut:Quote:
