I made this thread a year or so ago, and it received a good response, so...
When people swear, they sometimes apologise and then replace the swear word with something similar and less offensive. For example, instead of saying 'S**t', you'd say 'Sugar'. Instead of saying 'Bastard', you'd say 'Barstool' or 'Basket'.
Do any of you do this? If so, what do you say in place of the swear word?
Gosh damn it.
I say 'flip' instead of f**k :p
But it gets confusing calling people baskets. And telling people to eat my sugar isn't very offensive at all.

at work i say stuff like poo and sugar and heck. just because i'll loose my job if i swear.
I say "Oh, Snap" or "shoot" instead of "Oh, S**T".
I say dang instead of damn most of the time.

I don't swear, so I've no need to replace swear words with other words, but I do call people silly heads. :p

I don't replace swear words atall and swear really badly quite alot. :( Very bad habit.
I usually catch my swears before I start saying them, so most of my curses turn into something absurd.
"Aw, monkey pants!"
"What the pies?"
And so on.
I rarely swear IRL, so it's not really a habit so I wouldn't really think of replacing those words with less offensive words.
My friend used to say Fug instead of f**k, though. They used to have a few others that I don't really remember at the moment.
I am a land-sailor.
I swear whenever and wherever the feeling takes me.
When I swear I don't notice till I already have. So I don't get the chance to change it into another word.
Most of the time, if I'm in a situation where I can't swear, I swear anyway. And if someone gives me a hard time about it, I kill them.

I avoid the <]{"G!"}[> word when I swear unless I hurt myself then it kinda slips. But I'm a potty mouth otherwise. =3
I tend to curse in university, but I have to make sure my language is perfectly clean when I'm at home. So usually my curse words get kind of caught in my throat and turn into a frustrated growl. I don't usually have time to think of other words to say instead.
Yeah, when I'm with my friends we cuss like sailors. But when I'm back home or at work or basically not around my peers I gotta keep cussing to a minimum. Basically I just avoid topics which would lead to me cussing.
I swear sometimes when im not home but when i am home i have to stop.
I never use a replacement word though, ive really only heard my grandpa say son of a gun but thats pretty much it.
I don't usually replace my swear words, because its just feeble. Though I sometimes I use arsehole instead of a**hole...Sounds better imo

I don't swear often, but when I do I just use the regular words everyone (well, not everyone when I look at this thread) uses.
Does this make me an outcast?
