I have a question.

Lots of people seem to blame things on jews. Whenever anyone does this, it's considered racist. As far as I know, Judaism is a religion, not a race. So I was wondering why exactly people blame jews for loads of problems that seem to have nothing to do with them, and also why the hell it's considered racist when it's a religion? Sorry, I just seen this thing on TV where this big redneck was saying that America is in trouble because the jews have their hands in the goverments pockets or some crap like that, when here was me thinking the problem was ignorant people like him.

Well, in USA multinationals have a lot of power, including of course political power (because of the economic power, of course). The CEOs of this companies tend to be wealthy jews, and so many people tend to blame the jews on the problems going on with multinationals controlling too many political decisions.

I personally think such judgments to be preety stupid. OK, so there's jew bakers and CEOs with a lot of power, I can't deny that, but why blame the jew? You mean a jew banker is worse than a lutheran one? In any case, blame the men, blame the political system that allows this people to have more power than they should, but blaming the jew? Many people clame the zionism this CEOs have is the source of the problems. I'm not going to defend zionism, but I frankly don't think that's the main factor of the problem, as it isn't by any means the race or religion of the people in such places (other than the fact jews are supposedly very good at business, I never quite understood why). Also, it's very curious, there is a lot of jewish Nobel prizes, great jewish philosophers, etc. However, I don't understand how their religion or race is related to that. Maybe it's not even related.

But to me, it's preety absurd. It's like saying arabs are people who blow themselves up for anything, or that north americans are fat ass uncultures rednecks that only watch football on TV all day and love the flag, etc.

Oh, and as far as I know, there is a Jewish race. I really can't find the difference between jews and other races, but as far as I know they are supposed to have dark and slightly curly hair and big noses. And sometimes they do, sometimes not, so I dunno, but more or less this is an example. Then there's the Jewish religion.

I think blaming your problems on a mysterious group be it racial, religious or "shadow government/NWO" is somewhat of a copout. I say this because I (and probably 10-12 other people) have been agrueing with a guy on beliefnet that is convinced that "Jews" run the media. Well the question that he can't ever seem to answer is "if that's true, then why did he or anyone else with a similar opinion ever try to start their own media-outlet? Why do people keep buying that media?" No answer. And I think the reason is that blaming others for what's wrong with your country, culture, and whatever else is a cop-out way of saying "I can't change this because the (Jews/NWO/Roman Catholic Church/whatever) will prevent that from ever happening." So they sit on their arses never trying to make the world a better place because some mysterious "they" will stop any efforts they put forward.

I get that they're trying to place their problems on a scapegoat and stuff, I just wasn't sure why it was jewish people. Thanks, you guys. Although I didn't know there was a jewish race, but I guess it's true that you learn something new everyday.

Jews get slammed because they're a convenient target. Some groups are very easy to incite hate against, and jews unfortunatly are pretty high on the list.

WEll actually it is both a relgion and a race.Jews are normally Hebrews and Hebrews are of a different ethnicicty than anyone else ont he world due to hte fact that they all decend from Abraham.Then thing about being a decendent of Abraham is the fact is surpirsingly has no racial boundries lol.An african family found out they descend directly from him.

the jewish race is like anyother race. the reason why some people don't see them as any moe than "white" is because they are not black or asian. then again people wouldn't notice a slav walking down the street, or know the difference between a japanese and vietnamese person. it's a big thing in africa. small details that make one race different from the other that noone else would notice but still are racial differences. wars have been waged and genocide committed over that in africa. and the small differences between jew, slav, romany and aryan caused the holocaust.

i had an argument in history with a girl that wouldn't believe me that jewish was a race. it was hard to explain to her that when the gestapo man came round and asked you if you were jew instead of being able to see it most people would have denied it. (there is a true story of a racially jewish boy managing to get into the ss)

the kids in germany were taught how to spot a jew. the distinguishing features.

you can be jewish and christain. you can also be black and jewish.

While a Jew doesn't have to be religious in order to be considered a Jew (provided he answers all the other parameters), actually converting to another religion is a bit tricky, since much of the Jewish culture relies on the Jewish religion and philosophy. It's just too much of a contradiction.

As for why Jews are hated... well, we'll start off with a statistic. 56% of Nobel Award winners are Jews. The overall percentage of Jews in the world's population is around 0.001% (about 13 million Jews total). Second, try to look up in your memory some of your favourite comedians, film-makers, or famous scientists. My point is... Jews are very prominant, vocal and visible, but their strength isn't in numbers. When they actually had to protect themselves, they often failed (up until the erection of the Jewish State of Israel), and because they are a powerful, educated and resourceful minority, they are also very much hated.

Also, the hatred towards Jews is so very old, it seems to have run in the cultural mentallity of many a people, especially in Europe. Connotations and associations with the word 'Jew' are not very positive ones.

Too many Arabs blow themselves for it not to be considered a norm, and many Americans are indeed fat, ignorant and love the flag. There's a reason stigmas are born... Jews often mess around with money more than others do, and they have an obvious knack for it, just to specify about one of the many stereotypes.

Of-course it's related. Judaism teaches that education is one of the foundations for a good, stable and moral society - and thus, those teachings have survived through the ages, and have made into a cultural norm, a mentallity. Jewish mothers give their children books, before those can even tie their own shoe-laces, if you want to go the extreme.

However, there's a strong reactionary movement too, which tries to combat this discrimination but sometimes gets it wrong. For example, innocent people can be accused of anti-Semitism for merely disagreeing with a Jewish person. This recently happened in Canada when historians disagreed with a reasearcher (who happened to be Jewish) who claimed that Native Canadians weren't treated that badly by the colonials. Another incident I remember was an anecdote from my previous German teacher, who's Jewish. She recalled a school board discussion where the topic of fundraising was brought up... someone thought that her Synagogue might be wealthy enough to help out. She thought this was a negative stereotype - "Jews are money-hoarders" - when it may simply have been an innocent, or even complimentary, belief that religious institutions are wealthy because of their size and success.

Also, when someone disagrees with Israel's state practice or policy, the first response of many is to claim that they hate Jews. The US is a big supporter of Israel not just because of their significant Jewish population, but because Israel's survival depends on outside aid. There was traditionally little enmity between Muslims and Jews - both were attacked by militant Christians during the Crusades era. These facts were noted by Malaysia's outgoing Prime Minister a year or two ago, when he lamented the breakdown in relations between the two religions and called for renewed unity. However, since the new Israel was forcibly created by the West, there was a strong counter-reaction from the Palestinians. Since Israel is the Jewish state, hostility against that state has transformed into hostility against its people, and its people's culture and religion. The re-creation of Israel went from being a matter of surivial for refugees from the war, into the fuel for a new era of ethno-religious rivalry.

'Difference' is at the heart of all discrimination; what more convenient basis for discrimination than someone's cultural heritage and fundamental beliefs?

Most stereotypes are imposed or manufactured by others - like the stereotypes surrounding people of the Jewish faith and ethnicity. It's only the stuff that can be backed up empirically - like obesity rates in the US - that have any standing at all. Even then, it's nothing more than applying one negative statistic, a characteristic of the majority, to everyone in a country - which is unproductive.

To sum up... I despise anti-Semitic discrimination, just as I deplore all religious and racial hatred. Perhaps even moreso, because anti-Semitism was a primary policy of the nazis, and I have a particularly strong prejudice against neo-nazi beliefs.

From what i seen, Jews do have alot of political power even more so after WWII(and theres a reason why Hitler did not like them). They work harder and get more money in general and to be honest alot of those that i see my parents associate with are demanding assholes...but we are nice to them anyway if we want more clients =/ Basically alot of them that i seen are just that i am better than you attitude more often than not and when we say we dont like it, we are labeled as racist and nazi-whores. At least thats what i see around my area. I have every right to not like to finish an real estate appraisal report in one day when its 40 miles away from home -_-; Doesnt mean i wont do it but i mean you cant expect me to like it either...

Now another reason i feel is that since Jews in general work hard, they get the same crap that most asians do...they must work hard and have lots of money and we dont like them because of that...>_> It does happen and i seen some of that..but it could be just San Francisco here and the people i met. Uh...of course there must be something of truth in the stereotypes, but even if based on empirical fact, judgment based on prejudice is not something I like. For example, I don't like the Jewish stereotype. I don't like Shylock from The Merchant of Venice, I don't like Roth from The Godfather II, I don't like Watto (yes) from Episode I and all those other representations of the characteristics often given to the jew stereotype. OK, I actually like those characters, but not in the "I want them to be my friends" style, more as in "I would hate them in real life but I like them in fiction".

Thanks God, I do not tend to judge people based on stereotypes. If I did, I would need to suppose most people in this forum are fat ignorants who just sit on their asses all day and praise their flag. And I would be a guy with a moustache that loves bull fighting and has his daily siesta before clapping his hands and going "olé, olé", and I have the accent of the puss in boots in Shrek 2...well, the last one is true.

And does it matter Jews have so much power? Partly. It matters they have power, it dosen't matter if they're jew. Well, it matters in the sense that it means that probably the jewish community is to be more benefited in some senses because of the influences of this powerful men. But this does not mean the jews are on some world conspiracy, as some people seem to think, it just means there are jews who are very powerful and are probably bastards, as happens with most powerful men, jewish or not. What relation does the jewish shop owner with Roth (to name a fictional jew)? I don't think he has much relation, other than ethnicity, and I don't think ethnicity was such an important factor in leading Roth to be the head of the exploiters in Cuba.

Now, this one is tricky. Israel represents the Jews and protects them, world-wide. So, Jews and Israelis take it extremely personally if their country is verbally assualted. The State of Israel is the fulfillment (or at least it is, in the ideal) of Jewish values, hopes and needs, a beacon of light after a long history of blood-shed... having it dissed is like hearing someone say bad things about your family, or your mother. Most people don't take too kindly to that.

And I've met and heard quite a few who did. Fact is, 100% of the suicide bombers that blew themselves up lately have been Muslim Arabs. I have seen Allen joke about Jews, but nothing no one with a little sense of humour could find offensive.

On the other hand, maybe "fundamentalist" is not the word you like, but to amplify the meaning more, I could say "fanatical". And fanatical jews exist, as exist fanatical christians or muslims, or communists or capitalists, or whatever religion, ideology or system that exists. I bet even fanatical Jedi exist somewhere on Earth. Hell, there's even a Maradonna church with fanatical followers.

Actaully I think the Evangelical Lobby shares a good bit of the blame here as well. They support Israel because they believe that all of Israel was given to the Jews by God in the Bible, thusly they support Israel over Palestine. There are some "end of the world" types as well that see the existance of Israel as a sign of Armagedon and the return of Jesus and therefore they are perfectly happy to see a state of Israel.

Then there's the Jewish Lobby.

I'm not sure, but most people I know my age dislike jewish people. It makes me sad.

I've found that most people who claim to hate Jews, have never actually met any. Even in Nazi Germany, the Jewish stereotype that was portrayed before the Germans was of a Jew that they have never met. German Jews weren't particulraly ugly, short, curly-haired or anything of that sort. They were heavilly integrated into German society, sometimes even to the point where they lost some of their Jewishness. Still, the Germans hated the Jewish stereotype, a stereotype they've never encountered.

By the way, something that does bother me, though, are some victimist Jewish associations. Same go to feminist associations, both seem to be the great fans of victimization, seeing anti-them conspirations in every damn movie, song, videogame, book or play that appears. Of course, I'm not saying this always happens will all asociations, but when I see asociations complaining about something, they tend to be feminists first, Jewish second. Of course I don't mean this applies to all Jews.

Under Jewish law. The Roman law had no problem with him, it was the Jews that demanded his crucifiction, but the Romans that carried it out, as they carried out all punishments. The Romans had control of the area, but they still respected Jewish law--law that called for the crucifixion of a person claiming to be the Messiah.

Ah, I get what your saying. I don't honestly know of that myself. I don't hate any Jews. My friend is one. and you're right. Judiasim is a religion, not a race. most people blame Jews is for the death of Jesus Christ. but that's not true. a lot of people here believe that. People just feel the need to point fingers at other people, so i guess they started on the Jews. But, i do agree with you. you've got my agreement.

Blaming all Jews for Christ's death would be like blaming all Christians for the crusades, or blaming all Germans for Naziism. It's dumb.

It's just that people like to point fingers at other people! when the holocaust started, yeah, Germans were blamed. i've seen it. i still see it. it's so stupid.

No, blaming Jews for Jesus' death would be like blaming oranges for software problems. There's little connection between the two. The Romans didn't like some Jew prancing about, spreading his weird messages, so they captured him and killed him. End of story. Yes, the Jews didn't really help Jesus, but they didn't kill him either.
