No matter what any other n00b says, Its FFVI.
i would go for ffvi as well.ct would come at a very close second.
FFVI without a doubt.
>>> Chrono Trigger..
Chrono Trigger if you're going by story, music, etc...
Mario RPG if you're judging by gameplay.
And if you're going by "Most Greatest RPG of the SNES era" it's FFVI. :p
Chrono Trigger beats FFVI by a very slim miniscule bit. But, still enough for me to likes it more.
CT
Top 3 are definitely FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG
if I had to rank, probably that order
THE JACKEL
My top three favorites are Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Evermore. I voted for Chrono Trigger because its the first one I played.
If Super Metroid was an RPG, it would pwn all others.
Just because I feel like being a nit, the following titles cannot be part of this poll because they weren't released for the SNES :p
- Final Fantasy V
- Star Ocean
- Tales of Phantasia
- Seiken Desentsu 3

~*Chrono Trigger*~

He said SNES era, which means during the time of the SNES... These were released in that time periodQuote:

I'll consider that he meant SNES and Super Famicon (they're the same thing, but....)
Anyway, I vote for Final Fantasy VI. My wonderful awesomeness.
Also he included ARPGs and SRPGs. And Zelda, which isn't an anything-RPG.
I'm having trouble deciding between FFVI, Earthbound, and Super Mario RPG.
FFVI is good, though I prefer FFIV, but CT gets the cigar.
Tales of SYMPHONIA. I cant wait until ToP comes out for the GBA.
Tales of Phantasia.
Star Ocean, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Chrono Trigger also rank high up there.
Final Fantasy VI was alright, too.
Super Mario RPG, the best game ever.
Easiest question ever! You should have said NES era, I would have had to think about it for a while.
Chrono Trigger, followed closely by Terranigma, Rudora no Hihou and Star Ocean.
While there is one obvious answer(FFVI), there are also many on there that will make me ";_;" for not voting, so I refuse to vote.
Nice try.Quote:

Seiken Densetsu 3. TONS of replay value.
It was tough picking from Tales of Phantasia, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. In the end, I went for CT as it's the only SNES game I regularly go back to replay.
Chrono Trigger...closely followed by Final Fantasy VI and Breathe Of Fire II but I would say CT simply because it is a great game:D
We have a winner.Quote:

Others I also like: FFVI, FFV, Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Lufia II ROTS, BOF II
While Chrono Trigger and FFVI are great games, I have to go with Zelda: Link to the Past. I grew up with that game, and have very good memories of me and my dad playing it.
Ok, time to toss in my two cents. I have played the following SNES RPGs
Earthbound
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Super Mario RPG
Tales of Phantasia
Chrono Trigger
Seiken Desentsu 3
Lufia and the Fortress of Doom
Zelda A Link to the Past
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire II
Breath of Fire I and II were fun to play, but there isn't enough there to consider them the greatest. Same with Super Mario RPG(although it's one of favorite games)
FFMQ was too linear to be even noticed as the greatest. FF IV and V were great games
However, when it comes right down to awesome storyline, great gameplay, outstanding music, and well done graphics, these three games would fit in there
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy VI
Tales of Phantasia
They all had memorables characters, an unforgettable storyline, and music you can hum to while you're playing. However, if I had to pick one right now, it would FF VI with Chrono Trigger at a close second
I can't believe no one's gone in for Tales of Phantasia.
Like a tiger! LIKE A TIGER!
Chrono Trigger for me.
Star Ocean, All The Way.
I can't believe this thread is still open. The most greatest rpg of the snes era is still, and always will be, FFVI. :chef:
Star Ocean, followed by CT. Didn't really like FFVI.

Yup. Doesn't get any better as far as the SNES is concerned, IMO.Quote:

Paladins quest isn't on that list, it may not have been a great game but it still belongs.
I'd say either FFIv, or Chrono Trigger. Honorable mentions to BOF2, Lufia 2, and OGre Battle.
What are you doing typing that, go get FFVI !Quote:
