Mother Tries to Keep Boyfriend by Letting Him Sleep with Her 15-year old

"It's incredible that any parent would be involved in such a blatant case of abuse against her own daughter," prosecutor Tony Tague told The Muskegon Chronicle for a story published Thursday.

Authorities investigated after the girl talked to another adult, said police Detective Calvin Mahan.

The woman was freed on $25,000 bond after being arraigned on three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The boyfriend, Michael J. Fitzgibbon, was being held without bail. He was arraigned last week on six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

It was unclear Thursday whether Fitzgibbon had an attorney.

It's shocking but it's probably more common then you'd think. This is one of those instances that just gets noticed and caught by the authorities. I'm sure it's happening in other places too.

I don't think it's fair or right to prosecute either of the 'adults' in this situation. They certainly took advantage of her, but it was her stupidity that was being taken advantage of, not her age. Here is a nice load of hypocracy in the legal system. At 15 you can very easily be tried as an adult because you appearantly know full well what you are doing but low and behold you are not in the know enough to have sex or get an abortion(in some states).

I say just keep these two adults under very close supervision. That would be the best solution.

In cases like this, I'm usually far more affronted by the stupidity of people categorizing their crimes or indiscretions than I am the acts themselves.

I really don't care what some crazy people do with their private lives. As long as the girl wasn't forced into it - although chances are there was coersion - I'm just going to sit back and laugh. If I get angry, I'm going to be angry at the fact they actually... wrote down the crimes they were commiting... and signed the documents... *Head-desk*

My sense of humor is a little different than most. I never feel sorry for people who don't use their brain to make smart decisions (drunk drivers, drug abusers, etc). The girl didn't seem to mind this "arrangement", so why should I care whether or not she goes into a teen home or whatever? If she was forced to do it, then it wouldn't be funny at all, but then I still wouldn't care because it isn't happening to me.

She is under age. But even if she wasn't, there woudl have been trouble. A few months ago a dude got busted for putting his wife under contract. Relationships can't be under contract, its like prostitution. And since this girl got things in return for sexual favors it was like prostitution in that sense too. It was wrong on a lot of levels
