Hello I hear about them all the time in the Lounge.
I hear that their hearts are in Ohio and really that's about it
oh I also hear they're terrible
They suck. Whiny, emo, and annoying.
They have some good riffs. "Cross Me Off Your List" has some good ones. They are okay though.
Yeah, I used to bum rides off a friend who listened to them all the time back in high school. They're pretty atrocious.
They're not emo. And I think they are pretty cool. I used to listen to them. Haven't heard much of their newer stuff.
That Heathcliff sure is a dream.
I've heard there stuff, I'm not really a huge fan of them or the genre of music they play.
there alright
They're an abomination of music
I loathe them
I love them. Some of their older stuff leaves a little top be desired but most of their new stuff is great. But FYI... I don't think they're really emo.
Here's some great non-emo lyrics from Hawthorne Heights.
Quote:
She wore crushed velvet, jet black and to the floor.
She rode on angels' wings that used to shine oh so bright.
Now the dark has caught the spark
in her eyes and I, I can't find the air.
I'll wait for you, I cross my heart.
Dissolve and decay, there's nothing left for me. (Right now)
Quote:
Swim through these waters
My lungs collapse as I'm gasping for air
I'll breathe you in (and I'll breathe you in)
You are my oxygen alone
Through arteries untold, your skin is pale, my body's cold
Way down, deep down in my lungs
I can hear our sweet decay
So spill my blood (SO SPILL MY BLOOD)
Midnight skies turn scarlet red
Say "so long," say "goodnight," and just hold out your hand
To catch me if I fall into the night
Say "so long," say "goodnight," and just hold out your hand
To catch me if I fall
Next person to claim that they're not emo, and I'll have to torture everyone with more lyrics. Don't tempt me.Quote:
And I can't make it on my own.
(And I can't make it on my own.)
Because my heart is in Ohio.
So cut my wrists and black my eyes.
(Cut my wrists and black my eyes)
So I can fall asleep tonight, or die.
Because you kill me.
You know you do, you kill me well.
You like it too, and I can tell.
You never stop until my final breath is gone.
Spare me just three last words.
"I love you" is all she heard.
I'll wait for you, but I can't wait forever.
Please, explain to me, how those lyrics are "emo". Because you can find those types of "emo" lyrics in just about any metal, country, rap or rock band out there.
How can you not see how those lyrics are emo?
"So cut my wrists and black my eyes"
It doesn't even get much more emo than that.
"So spill my blood (SPILL MY BLOOD)"
Emo.
As well as like every single line in those lyrics. I don't know how to explain it any further, its pretty much common sense to recognize what is emo and whiny and what is good.
I would say they're pretty emo. I don't like them very much. That's just my personal opinion though, don't eat me. xD.
Way to sterotype. I'm not even going to argue. If thats "emo" then bands like metallica (who have songs about suicide) must be emo too, right? Get over it, if you want emo check out the bands that I listed. Those are emo.
An emo band is an emotionally charged HARDCORE band, that goes through sudden emotional changes or different emotions while performing. Singing about "cutting my wrist" does not make them emo.
Let me guess, you think bands like Fall Out Boy and Taking Back Sunday are emo too, right?
The lyrics from Rites of Spring are almost identical to those of Hawthorne Heights. They're whiny and suicidal.
They don't shut up. All they do is sing to be pity whores and cut their wrists. And if you actually READ the Hawthorne Heights lyrics, it's pretty smurfing obvious that they're going through some emotional stuff.Quote:

Anyway, I'm done arguing. I can tell you're one of those ignorant people who assume that because a band has a high pitched voice that they are emo. Or because they have girl pants or whatever.
