Calling in for backup! (RPGXP)

Alright guys, I usually use RPG Maker 2003, and just recently have I picked up RPG Maker XP. I like the graphic style and the scripting idea makes it possible to do alot with the system. Problem is I don't have nearly enough time to think up a story, and do all of the creating needed. So I decided to put together a team, because I really do want to have an XP game underway.

I'll give you the script of the openning movie/Scene for you to get a look at the story so you can decide if your interested.

The Four Swords of Sanctum

Narrator: Once their where four swords of great power each
with their own wielder. These four fought to provide balance to the world.
But eventually one of the warriors was affected by
the strength he posessed and was consumed with greed. He sought to take control of the other warriors and obtain their swords. His lust gave his sword a new terrible power, and
even all together the other three warriors couldn't
defeat him. As a last ditch effort the warriors dispeled the swords
of their power, and defeated the tainted warrior. As centuries passed the swords became ancient history, and eventually faded into a legend. But the Swords still exist, and the legends are being revisited... People want their terrible power.


Here are a list of jobs I need filled, more then 1 can apply for any job… the more the merrier!

Graphic Design- Title Screens, game over screens, basically anything we need looking really purdy :P

Composer- None of the RTP music is really good so I would love to have people help with this

Scripter- If someone knows Ruby Scripting we could pull off a lot

Character Designer- Character Sets, battlers, we need it all!


Mappers- Design cities, forests, dungoens, ect. using RPGXP

Tester- Look for bugs, and glitches which I can assure you will be in the game. Also comment on gameplay.

More jobs will be added in a later time.

The only thing I plan on doing by myself is the story but I will take any/all recommendations into consideration… This is the first time I’ve ever worked with XP so I want help you guys!

I got someone to help me and know the game has its own magic level up system which works. The system takes the amount of times you've used certain spells, and your level to determine when you learn a new spell.

Short Demo- Also in other news the download for the first scene is done. Just go to 4shared.com sign in as ff9fan@gmail.com (the password is 4swords) and download it. You'll notice Final Fantasy Music (Kefka's Theme). Whenever final fantasy music appears it is music that has to be replaced and will not under any circumstances show up in the final game.

I'll be a character designer. Although I won't be able to get sprites done as quickly as I used to.

Cool. We have 1 character designer! Gotta start somewhere. Don't worry Evasto, any help is appreciated plus hopefully you won't be the only designer. The forum will be done by the end of the weekend, it'll be a place where we can focus a bit better.

I can't do anything, but I'll bug some other people for you :P

hey boco..id be more then happy to help...but...did you consider that maybe its a bad time seein as there is an rpg beein made in this thread already???

Meh, well I don't care I know that I want to undertake a RPG team. What can you contribute? Also if your going to help sign up on the forums I made.

The first demo will be downloadable soon, also another reason I feel confident on starting one is because I am a regular user here, and I hope that the EoFF community will be willing to join me in creating an RPG.

I still am in desperate need of composers and spriters. I'm at a friend's house at the moment so I cannot work on getting the 4shared to work properly, and will not be able to create more. Hopefully I will be able to post more storyline soon.

Also for the rest of the team, I've been doing some gather of people on other forum sites so we actually have more people then who signed up here.

i think possibly the awesome rpg could get nasty....ill let you use some of my stuff for a while..but if im outtie....youll have to be cool botu what i choose...

i would try but noone ever listens to me when i help them on these type of things

hmmm..that wont work for me????whats wrong???i extracted it..then clicked ok on a lil thing that popped up and had chinese or somethin in it..then it said...unable to open it or some shizzle like htat...

I'm in the team too now, so I edited that.

I have some bad news unfortunately the only way to get the demo at the moment is if you have RPG Maker XP hopefully this will be fixed soon. In the mean time RPG Maker XP can be downloaded here

So what should the genders of the characters be?

Well the game is going to be a bit different from most FFs... now seems a good time to post some ideas I have.

(important words bolded)

1. There will only be four characters, 4 swords, 4 characters makes sense right? And the genders will be equal 2 guys, 2 girls.

2. Each player will weild one of the Swords so they will never get a weapon change, instead they will get different Augments in the place where the weapon would usually be. The augments will basically tell you everything your weapon will do.

3. This part I'm trying to find a Ruby Scripter to help with. My idea for the leveling up system revolves around how much you use your skills. The idea is your swords have lost much of their original power, but they are the only source of magic in the game. Therefore to be able to learn new magic you must use a previous magic skill a certain amount of times. For example you can't get Wind 2 without first being level 11 AND using Wind 1 35 times. Personally I love this idea, but I have to see if I can get a scripter to help me.

Hate to double post but... I've been going through the storyline this is what I got (some spoilers


Being chosen by the dark sword makes you a irriplacable weapon by the military of Havon. War has followed your entire life. Finally you escape the military for a year, but only to be tracked down by a long-time friend and comrade Rose. She convinces you to come back but you still have struggles and cannot regain your will to fight. Thus she takes you to your hometown where you both grew up. You see nothing but rubble and burnt down houses. She explains that the (country needs name) army destroyed it in one of their assults during the year you where gone. Filled with anger and hatred toward (country needs name) you regain your reason to fight. When you reach the capital (needs name) you meet with General Kior (Weilder of the Elemental Sword) he explains that Havon has managed to gather all of the swords and their chosen masters and now if they could just restore thier power Havon could use them to crush (Country needs name). So you meet with Cassandra weilder of the Holy Sword, who is also Kior's lover (thought I'd throw that in considering that it will put in plot twists) and set off to to restore the 4 Swords power. You learn that the only way to restore their power would be to have the swords absorb the Relics of (Planet's name to be decided) power. Finally your task is almost complete and you only need to restore the Dark Sword to its original form... The Excalibur. (SPOILER)But the Emperor of Havon has requested you take him with you to do this. When you arrive at the Dark Shrine you find that the only way to turn the Dark Sword back to the Excalibur would be to destroy the darkness that corrupted the Original wielder of the Dark Sword. So as you go to do this the Emperor throws you at of the way and absorbs the Darkness so he could have Unequaled power....
