    Unhappy Change of tutors

Until twenty-one days ago, my seminal seminar tutor for [strike]Socialist Propoganda 101[/strike]* Global Environment was a fairly cool fellow by the name of Scott. He was a bit of a lefty, it's true, but that didn't really get in the way of teaching. He would listen to other views and accept them if they were valid (And mine, of course, always fell into both criteria.)

However, now we have some new woman. Whilst her accent is nice to listen to (She's from Mexico) and she has a great name (Valeria) she's much more left-wing and, rather more annoying for Huxley, she's a lot less ready to listen to argument and criticism. She actually scoffed at someone today! Debate used to be the order of the day - she is not interested in any, just wants to hear what boils down to the Party line. It's my belief that as an educator a balanced view should be provided, but this entire module is now pretty much a loss, whilst beforehand the seminars at least were enjoyable and open. It's quite sad to see, especially compared with a much more accomplished lecturer/tutor like my politics teacher, one Stephen Parsons. His actual political leanings remain a mystery to us, because he's extremely good at picking holes with pretty much anything you give to him, and is excellent at playing the Devil's advocate - he can always generate a debate and get some worthwhile feedback.

At any rate! You'll note my usual flourish is left, but I'm somewhat tired at the moment, so please forgive me. I shall impress you all with wit and flair another time. I'm going to go ahead and ask that you relay occasions where a teacher has been exchanged with another (For better or worse).

    * I'm not kidding. I was once kidding about this but I am no longer kidding. Yesterday we were polled and, upon discovering that more people would side with the Tri-continental Congress (Che & Castro) than with the Non-Aligned Movement (Sukarto; They were STILL a bunch of numbskulls but at least had reasonable underlying principles) my lecturer noted, with some glee, that she had convinced people of the TCC's aims far better than they themselves ever managed to do. All we get is whining about how the first world is oppressing the third and how capitalism, through those famously capitalist measures of subsidies, trade barriers, and land siezure by governments (:rolleyes2 Capitalist like a monkey), is inherently evil.

Talk about biased teachers who wind you up, too! Or really great ones. Mainly about when they change though.

All I read was the last sentence, but when I was in school, 3 of my friends used to have English together, and 2 of my friends were punching eachother, and the other guy was sat on the other side of the room and looked round at them. He got sent out, his teacher didn't like him much.

Teachers being changed well see I know something about this, when I was in year 10 and 11 I had 29 math tutors, some I was not sad to see go but there was one and sure yeah he was an alcoholic and drank at work but he was the best math tutor I ever had.

I had a professor my freshman year whose class I called "Liberal Propaganda 101." We watched a Michael Moore film in class. 'nuff said.

Gosh I love the fact that I do boring, neutral subjects Anyways, because of the nature of my course I usually just get my tutors to give me something to do and then I go off, own it, and hand it back in. Very rarely do I actually need help with any work. Infact in one tutorial session I finished about fifty minutes early, so sat with another classmate and basically helped him do his work.

I always got leftie teachers for history, geography and ecology related subjects and always got military teachers for civics so it balanced itself out.

It made me deeply skeptic of radicals be them leftist or right wing.

Cheer up, her annoyance and power over you are limited to one term. Lie through your teeth, smile and pretend to agree with her while you are under her and in 6 months go back and tell her she sucks!

    Buahahaha!

Bottom line: Radical bigots of both parties don't deserve the truth. Put on an act and get through them and they "melt" like the wicked withch of the west.

I don't know whether or not I have any of these people next year - I sincerely hope not.

Iceglow - that's insane. I had a few changes of English teacher in the same years, but only four I think, and that was a big enough issue.

Hmmmm, unfortunatly I never had the pleasure of seeing my Physics teacher being sacked. Oh, how much I'd have rejouced if she was kicked out of school!. She was really useless and I can't really see what's that I've learned from her. Plus, she was ugly!.

My Advanced English teacher is incredibly conservative and close-minded and she cannot stand any type of literature that doesn't have the label of a classic or isn't about a young person being raped, coming from a family or alcoholics/abusers, or being anorexic. If she doesn't agree with your opinion or interpretation of something, she will just cut you off as wrong. I remember her asking you to name a group that you feel is somewhat shunned/looked down on by society and I said how atheists/agnostics were in some ways, and she flat out told me that I was wrong.

I never had a teacher that did NOT do exactly what Rye said about atheists and agnostics in some way.

I think I only had a "teacher swap" once but that was only because the original teacher got sick. She didn't come back that year and I don't remember seeing her again. It wasn't a good or a bad thing. Just neutral, I guess.

I had a teacher do that to me. He fell ill soon after the first term of the year had started and never saw him again. I went around telling everyone he died but was soon corrected by the nearest other teacher who told me he moved to a new school when he got well. I still think that was a new school in heaven, or hell since he was inconsiderate enough to leave without quashing the rumours of his death I was spreading.

Another teacher I really hated, she was really arrogant and annoying and often went completely wacky teaching complete crap and would complain when I correctly corrected her. Me and five others were moved out of a decent teachers classes to be taught the extra top grade stuff since we were apparently the cleverest in the school. Given that this happened about two months before the exams I was annoyed that I didn't have the decent teacher and spent most of the time trying to break her spirit. I think that's why she predicted me such a low grade, which I then went and got the top grade in for the exam.

From year 8 to year 10 I had a different Form Tutor pretty much every week.

Oh wait that's not the topic. I don't really have any annoying teachers I can think of anymore.

Milf, it was insane it's also why no one in a class of 35 students got above a D in their maths GCSE, we got taught algebra once, Bodmas once, fractions for a week and the rest of the 2 years was spent learning Trigonometry in 29 different ways, I still can't do it all the different techniques get confused in my head making a mess of it.

We also had our Physics teacher change on us unfortunately it went from a bad one to the worst physics teacher EVER, I in the end earned a permanent ban from his classrooms (took getting in a fight and still smacking the guys face of a gas tap when the teacher told me not to but hey never claimed to be an angel) I learnt more sitting in the back of an english classroom studying from the text books than he could ever have taught me.
