It sounds like a recorder. I have become famous for the technique.

I can also whistle very well, if you son't mind me saying. I often whistle FF tunes or other video game music. Shadow's theme from FF6 sounds particularly good while whistled.

I can whistle, but it's a pretty unreliable skill. Sometimes I'll be able to keep up with a melody perfectly, others I'll be completely tuneless. When it works, though, whistling's very fun.
