Yeah, I don't know. I would guess it depends. Sociology would suggest that they would actually be peaceful at first, but who knows how scared they will be when they find our internetz.

I'm not sure I care to speculate. I'm also note sure that it's of any particular meaning if the first alien race we encounter has any particular traits or not, because there are bound to be a lot more and we might be unlucky and meet the North Korea of the galaxy, or we might be lucky and meet the Culture. I expect if there's civilizations out there, they will be fairly diverse.

I'd doubt they'd senselessly kill everyone on the planet. If the odds of intelligent life are as low as it seems then they'd do everything in their power to communicate and work with us.

I can only imagine humans being stupid enough to find another inhabited planet and just attack it, so I reckon they'd be peaceful.

Who would want to share a planet with us? If I was of an alien specie which happened to be conquering Earth, I know I would wipe out the strongest, and use the rest as slaves. Slaves and musicians.
