Most Improved Member is a tricky category. It's a bit of a compliment-insult hybrid, and nobody really likes hybrids (just look at agnosticism or drag queens). On one hand, you're now pretty likable. On the other, before you were rubbish.
I like to think of Eyes on Final Fantasy as a learning process. As a cute tadpole, a member begins with an introduction thread proclaiming his or her favorite Final Fantasy and 10 different smilies in a row at the end of the sentence. But as is nature, all tadpoles must eventually evolve into dinosaurs. At this stage, you become bitter and make fun of other's introduction threads. Finally, you pretend you hate Final Fantasy completely and begin dating another member, completing the final evolutionary step known as Xena: Warrior Princess.
Of course, pretty much all the nominees have been here a while and not really done any of this, making most of this speech nonsense filler so it looks longer... So how have they each improved?
Azar now has some sperm that flitters in and out of his avatar every so often. This, apparently, is a complete metamorphosis of his personality. Cookie now comes with raisins and a bazooka. demondude55 has extra high-five power in his palm these days. edczxcvbnm seems a lot more cheerio lately and probably has a garden. Goldenboko now annoys Lekana a little less. Harle-Quin's hair became a hammerspace you can store sandwiches in. Heath got a new cape since 2002, now with extra whoosh. TyphoonThaReapa popped a little less cap. And Vincent, Thunder God added a cane to go with his tiara.
Let's all look forward to clapping the winner on the back and telling them congrats. And then telling them they're a woman since all the nominees were male and that must mean women are the pinnacle of improvement.
