what type of Japanese music do you people like? for instance I like: Visual kei. Btw if you could name some of the bands/singers you like, that would be even better.

I don't know many names of J-rock and such, but there are quite a few good songs I hear from time to time.
Some pretty horrid music too, but meh, it's to be expected.
I love some japanese songs.. but not all of them in general.. but some themesongs.. and some japanese gamesongs are smurfing awsome ^^

I like chocolate!! No matter what flavor you get, you can always taste the broken dreams!
~Dead people should stay dead, otherwise whats the point of killing them???
I'll confess that there's a lot of Japanese music and musicians I only know through video games, but I still like 'em a lot. Risa Ohki, Utada Hikaru, Mr Goo, The Black Mages, and more besides.
Japan's also got some great classical performers, too - a really strong following for Western classics there.

WEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! I <3 Bou I miss you...
Aside from Video Game/Anime composers, the only Japanese musician I really like is Utada Hikaru. There's been a few other groups I've stumbled on that make good music, but nothing I really follow.
I don't particularly follow Japanese music, but there are a few groups I've been exposed to through anime and games and such. Two of my favourite 'discoveries' have been ikimonogakari and Asian Kung Fu Generation, I actually kind of follow every release they do now. They're both kind of Pop Rock groups. JAM Project gets me pumped too.
There are a lot more that I have and like, but I can't think of them off the top of my head and my iPod is not within reach. I started listening to 'Japanese music' a while back when I started trying to actually learn Japanese. While it doesn't really help me learn new words, it definitely puts them in my brain so I have an idea of how to say them.
Really though, most of my 'Japanese Music' comes from Yoko Kanno. Her stuff is mostly instrumental, but there are a number of excellent vocal pieces she's composed, particularly with Maaya Sakamoto (who I'm also a fan of). I have a lot--a LOT--of Kanno's music. About 80 CDs worth. I could (and do) listen to her music all day.

I really like Utada's new single: HEART STATION / Stay Gold.
Oh, she has a new single?
I'm not much of a J-Rock person, but I like some of it, mostly the stuff Kumar sends me, like Mad Caps Market.
I mostly prefer fruity J-Pop. I love Utada Hikaru, Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, Kumi Koda, (She's Korean, but she's always lumped into J-Pop) BoA, Morning Musume... and Teriyaki Boyz, of course. <3
