TAHM-as is more like the pronounciation a scottish/countrybumpkin would use think Christopher Lambert as Highlander Connor Mcleod....I have never pronounced Thomas as TAHM-as.

Perhaps it's a non-British pronunciation? I've never had anyone call me that. I've had people kindly emphasise the 'ass' in it and I've had the German version before, but never that one.I have never pronounced Thomas as TAHM-as.
