It's definitely some kind of super-powered fictional metal too. If the Buster Sword (and the First Tsurugi) were made of steel, then the weight of the blade would make the handle snap off. Also, the weight alone would make Cloud overbalance regardless of his strength. On top of that, his swords can cut steel and shatter reinforced concrete.
