If I get an ulcer on my tongue (the most common type of 'tongue bump' for me), I just rupture it and make sure it's clean. It hurts for a moment, but the overall discomfort is far less than trying to put up with it.

I don't think I've ever had a bump on my tongue. I've certainly burnt it, but other than that, my tongue has never been a source of irritation. Or - indeed - irrigation.
