Feminists BAWWWWWW over Sony's upcoming 'Fat Princess'

So it begins: Feminist gamers decry Sony's Fat Princess - Joystiq

Here we go again with someone taking unnecessary offense at a game. In 'Fat Princess', you feed a princess who is thin lots of food so she becomes harder to capture. However, some feminists are taking offense to that, because...well, I'm not exactly sure, but they're offended.

Interesting fact: The concept artist for this game is female.

    Another reason to dislike feminists.

xD This game looks awesome though. <3

For some reason, I always thought if you were a gamer you'd have a sense of humor, but I guess since they're FEMINIST gamers they don't have one.
What would they rather have, a thousand lara croft esque games or a game where you make a skinny princess fat so she can't be stolen? Come on now.

My question is, are these feminists who are complaining actually gamers, or someone who has sold their soul and devoted their lives to prove that men are scum and and all women are goddesses?

Agree'd. xD At first I thought that "Feminist Gamer" was kind of oxymoronic but I'm sure they exist.

Either way, I'm sure they'd complain about -anything-. Even if there was a game where it made all women look exactly like they look now, they'd argue that the game potray's women as to average and plain and that it's the mans way to look down on women!

Also, what if the object of a game is to rescue a beautiful girl? Wouldn't they get mad because it would cause women to see the injustice of polygons being more attractive than they are and believe that if they're not as beautiful as a bunch of pixels, they're unattractive and inferior?

CORRECT! If the woman being rescued is beautiful they'll complain because the woman's not as average as they are and it's an "unrealistic man-biased standard of beauty"!

Moral of the story is that feminists can't be pleased -ever-!

I'm totally a feminist and I think the game looks freakin' adorable.

This is about as surprising as Sony fans getting hot and bothered over the FFXIII thing. The first thing I thought of when the game was revealed was "some chick with a blog is writing the rant of her life right now".

    It's stupid, of course.

I consider women who speak like this about games and such feminazis!

I meant no offense by it Miriel, I guess feminists is a vague term at this point, I shall use feminazi from now on!

I think that feminists who do it right are awesome. But feminists who do it wrong are morons. Then, lower than wrong-feminists, are the feminazis. They don't give a toss about anything, as long as they get to act like total dickheads and ruin peoples fun. They are a disgrace to real feminists everywhere.

This makes little sense to me, I honestly don't get how you can be offended. It's best to ignore these stupid attention whores and admire how awesome Fat Princess looks.

I love how that Shakesville chick completely sees what the game is really about - that a heavier object is harder to carry - and then manages to twist it in her mind to being something completely different.

If the object of the game was to make the princess so fat nobody wants her, then I'd see her point. But it's not, so, I lul. I mean, if you want to criticize this from a feminist perspective, you could talk about how it glamorizes medieval thinking that even the most nobly-born women are nothing more than tools used for politics, such as in royal marriages, not fit or not important enough to make their own decisions, etc. Or you could bring up how the Princess is being very literally objectified, not even capable of moving around on her own, but simply being picked up and carried by men.

Or hey, you could take the class warfare angle! We're glamorizing the nobility here, to the point where they literally don't even have to walk around or shovel food into their own mouths. That's reinforcing modern society's division into capitalists and workers, and is the purest distillation of the notion that the proper place of the workers, indeed their natural position (And through game mechanics, their only possible position) is as a servant to the bourgeousie.

Alternatively, you could do the opposite and protest the game because it persents a ludicrous view of history. Women were not usually powerful, but they weren't necessarily powerless either. The Middle Ages were not simply about armies and royalty, and this game perpetuates a mythical, completely inaccurate idea of history.

Or, most radically of all, you could stop being smurfing retarded and take the game for what it is.
