Thought I'd play this. This is me & the wife at Trim Castle (Caisleán Bhaile Atha Troim). Built 1174 & was the largest Norman Castle in the world but is in ruins now. It was used in the movie Braveheart! There were Knights Hospitaller here that faught in the Crusades.

The yellow steeple through an arrow slot at Trim Castle, it's the remains of a 14th century cathedral.

The Hill of Tara (Teamhair na Rí or Hill of the Kings). This place is one of the most important places in Ireland. It's where the ancient Kings of Ireland were crowned and was built in the Iron Age.

Newgrange or Dún Fhearghusa the the most impressive of 4 passage tombs in Meath. It's where the ancient kings were buried. Newgrange was built in such a way that at dawn on the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice, a narrow beam of sunlight for a very short time illuminates the floor of the chamber at the end of the long passageway. These things pre-date the pyramids.

Monasterboice. One of the first Christian monastaries in Ireland. Settled in 521ad & founded by St. Bute. There are 3 Large Crosses there from that time that still stand & a round tower (people still don't know why the towers were built but are all over Ireland).
