Undeadhero: haha! I wrote the exact same thing in my post above yours, but I realized I was rambling tooooo much, so I edited it out. :P But exactly. I like that SO much better than Falkor randomly appearing out of nowhere and saving Atreyu. Atreyu doesn't NEED saving. He has frikkin AURYN.

So do I, for that matter. :P

    and also:

I wonder what the new design for AURYN will be? Faithful to the book, or something fancy like the first film.

I only just realised that that thing is like the Uroboros, but twice.

TNES is awesome. Everything after the first was sucktastic. I didn't even know there was a book. I will now read the book because it sounds amazing. Thank you Bastian, you absolute legend.

If it turns out that this new film sucks balls, I'll watch it anyway.

Oh I remember that movie! I didn't know they made sequels...well, I hope this remake or whatever you call it is good.

I didn't know it was based on a book, might have to go read that.

Yup, AURYN is intentionally like the Uroboros and the yin-yang Taijitu combined. Which is much more obvious in the book's conception which has it just as one dark snake and one light snake forming a simple oval.

    [edit:]

Oh, and don't worry about the sequels to the original movie. The only reason I own TNESII is for nostalgia. It's awful. They took two ideas out of the second half of the book, dumbed them down and Disney-fied them, and then wrote a bunch of stupid gibberish to fit them in. Then then the third movie? It's basically an unintentional parody. MORONIC.

Now I want to reread the book again. It's been at least ten years since I have.

To be honest, im unsure whether it was good or not, I spent most of the film trying to figure out wtf was going on.

and I think you can rot in Hell. The ONLY person that should be remaking this movie, is the person that made it in the first place: Wolfgang Petersen. And the REASON that it was SUCH a good movie, is because it WAS NOT WATERED DOWN! Keep the wolf as creepy, or if not, creepier than the original.

Wolfgang Peterson did a decent job. I LOVED the original movie when I was a kid. Then I read the book, and frankly, my love for the '84 movie was diminished. I still love it, but for nostalgia reasons only.

The crimes that he made against the book . . . I just hope that the new film doesn't make the same mistakes.

As for Tim Burton, he's busy making "Return to Wonderland" or some such insanity.

I'd like to see Andrew Adamson (Narnia, Shrek) make the new film.

    That's boss.

Guillermo Del Toro should remake it if a remake is really necessary (which it isn't) because the original is amazing.
