Actually, zombies are pretty much never defeated. The poor little humies have to run away and flee on helicopters. On my keyboard, suffixes are grouped together. "ed" and "ing" are on one key and are next to each other.
Our limbs will stay in tact for however long as we need them, providing some people resist the urge to destroy them like they have tried in the past.
