This post brought to you by the power of boobs. Dear lord them boobs. Amen
Went back to console gaming since moving into a new apartment with a new tv and my surround sound hooked up again finally. The animation in Valkyria Chronicles on a high refresh rate tv is just stunning!
Seiken Densetsu 3. I've never beaten it, and I want to try to do so this time.
Well, Ross 154 is an alright system with some valuable deposits of resources in it, and Barnard's Star has huge amounts of resources along with a world that can be made habitable with modest effort. But Alpha Centauri is the best sytem I have ever seen in Aurora. There are six comfortable worlds that can be terraformed easily, and another seven or eight that will take more effort but are certainly not on the order of Venus or anything like that. The resource numbers here are so high I can only assume Command had to have the ansible checked for errors when they received them because it's an order of magnitude bigger than anything Sol ever had. It'll still take time to make habitable and productive but in a few decades once that's well underway the capital of our empire will no longer be Earth.
It is a great game. But I found it to be too grindy after a while, and they could've done more with the descendants mechanic. Like maybe instead of randomly generated kids, they could've made the kids have some small stat influence based on their parents. The controls also were way too touchy/floaty. Some of the challenge rooms were pretty much impossible without pixel-accurate maneuvering. I'm looking forward to Chasm by Discord Games LLC ? Kickstarter, which is a similar game.
Currently playing Spelunky (yet another roguelike platformer). I like the feeling of very (very very very) slowly getting better at a game that seems impossibly difficult at first.
My feelings on Rogue Legacy are similar, it starts out very fun but it gets grindy before long and the whole "heir" mechanic is underdeveloped and just doesn't have enough traits.
Having never got into it at all when it was new, I'm giving Bully another try because I've yet to meet a single other person who doesn't think it is excellent.
You know, I never thought I'd be able to say this about a CS game that uses matchmaking, but the people who play the competitive mode in CS: GO are downright pleasant. I don't think I've ever experienced this in all of my years of playing a CS game. It'd be like starting up some original DOTA and not getting insulted and cursed out the second you die once.
Spelunky is amazing and about a million times better than Rogue Legacy, in my estimation. I never beat it, made it as far as the fourth level in the Ice Caves and died. I haven't given it a go in awhile, but your post brought back some good memories. Maybe I'll fire it up again soon.Originally Posted by Dr Unne

Zing! Bringing this thread to the surface.
I saw the animation for The Wolf Among Us and couldn't pass it up because hooooly trout I love love love comic-style animation. It's absolutely stunning and I am so pleased. The fact that it's based on a comic book doesn't hurt, either! The storyline seems like it's a fairytale gone wrong and turned intensely dark with fantasy characters inhabiting New York. I am all about dark twists to things and am enjoying it so far. It's silly to see little characters like slumlord Mr. Toad with a cockney accent dropping f-bombs left and right and generally swearing up a storm. Also, I like that there seems to be a world of possibilities of the storyline based on what choices you make.
If I had a complaint to make, it's that you are supposed to be the Big Bad Wolf but the voice doesn't entirely fit. Also, I am finding the gameplay a little difficult to get used to. I just beat the hell out of someone who I'm guessing is supposed to be The Woodsman (because an ax was involved, I guess, I dunno) and it took me a bit to realize what the prompting was trying to get me to do. (confirmed he was the woodsman) It's not really clear when the dialogue sequences end and you're able to function in the game again because there is no transition.
The file is pretty small and it doesn't look like there's much depth to it, but it's episode one out of five so I hope they keep cranking them out.
Been playing the Clannad Visual Novel (patched in English) for a few days. I'm beginning to see the enormity of this game with the sheer amount of choices you make. I could swear that I could've potentially missed ever meeting half the cast if I hadn't made the correct choices.
I've so far been following the anime pretty closely, although I didn't set out to, it's just the choices that come to mind naturally.
I mean to at some point. Something about it is really reminding get me of Grim Fandango, but I can't put my finger on what it is.
