Gotta love the complete disregard for context the NPCs have sometimes. One time after I killed a dragon one of the surviving guards went with the line "You're that new member of the Companions. So you what - fetch the mead?"
Maybe I need to fight more dragons, but the NPCs always talk about the dragon I just killed when I fight them near towns. It's always "absorbed its soul" this and "can't believe my eyes" that with these people. They stop saying anything else until I leave.
