My mom's boyfriend has 70 acres of land and he does indeed live off of his own land. You haven't lived until you've tried fresh venison. On hunting...i don't know. I suppose bow hunting might be interesting.

I sort of feel like a failure for being the one person in the state of Montana who hasn't gone hunting.
I'll share a fun and effective method to get squirrels off your bird feeders. Hang the bird feeder high up, and on a good amount of radius underneath, put a bunch of small nails (and I mean a good bit) into the ground, sticking out. Put long noticeable wooden plank leading from your porch or something (a window is preferable) to the feeder. Add another permanent plank leading downward, spraypaint it black, and nail a troutload of small nails from the bottom up, so you've got a spiked runway. When you see the squirrels smurfing around on the bird feeder, simply pull the temporary plank away from the feeder, and the squirrels will be faced with either jumping down into a spike pit, or walking down the spiked runway. You can do what you want with the bodies if they don't make it home, but they won't come back if they do.
You...sick, intelligent bastard.

Also, after a while of maiming, the nails will probably induce infections. So sometimes they don't come back because they die in the woods.
In my experience the squirrels climb from the tree on top of the bird feeder.
That's right. Sylvie just got beat by a squirrel. How's your pit of death now? Not so deadly.
For those of you actually experiencing this problem, just buy a birdfeeder with a smaller entrance.

Not if there isn't a tree. They'll climb whatever is there to get to the bird feeder. Either way, it's not how they get there, it's how they get down.
Sorry, I haven't yet figured out how to get my bird feeders to levitate.

You can hang a bird feeder from something that isn't a tree. A lot of people around here use wires.
I like levitation better though.
Squirrels can climb down a wire.
Unless it's a razor wire.
Well they still might be able to. Squirrels is like ninjers.

My bird feeder is specifically designed to feed squirrels, because my garden birds are all kestrels and ospreys.
